Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@Whilstwewait I'd done so much this month, diet, SMEP, cutting out my analgesics, I had really gone all out, I was sure it was going to happen this month. DH's SA is the 25th August so after that the GP is referring us to the fertility clinic. At least AF now means DH won't have to abstain during my fertile window!

PlanBea · 02/08/2020 11:27

@notyetamumbuttrying not yet, still spotting, too much forward an implantation bleed so I'm out. I had some almost red yesterday but not enough for CD1. I just want to be able to start a new cycle. It's so risky booking any holidays at the moment, even in the UK with local lockdowns still happening! You don't know what you will and won't be able to do in a few weeks. Hope you get a nice getaway. We're lucky we'd planned for no abroad holiday this year with moving house. It was supposed to be last year but our build got delayed so we got a late escape. I'd be miffed now if we hadn't managed our trip last year!

EmeraldLily18 · 02/08/2020 12:42

Happy Sunday ladies!

So, DH had his SA on Thursday just past, very straightforward, results to GP in 2-3 weeks.
However...we may already know that the results aren’t all bad...

We were heading for overnight stay at hotel on Friday for our anniversary and I was looking forward to cocktails so I did an early response test early morning (planning to go back to sleep for a couple of hours), BFP! Actually could not believe my eyes! I was 12DPO. Decided not to tell DH until the evening when I said I’d need to be on the mocktails!

I haven’t allowed myself to get too excited yet though, I know that there are so many factors that could stop things progressing but I’ve taken cheapy tests yesterday and today too, both BFP (although this morning’s was quite a bit fainter than yesterday).

I looked back through my apps and this is actually cycle 15 (I thought it was 14!), so it’s been a very long time coming.
Things we did differently this month, although could all be coincidence; SMEP, both taking Boots own brand conception supplements, a preseed type lube (bought from reduced section in Boots for £1!), and I had stopped drinking milk in tea/coffee to see if it helped my awful acne.

My boobs are like solid beachballs and I had some cramping Thursday and Friday but, other than that, totally symptom free.

Fingers crossed this wee miracle stays put, and best wishes to everyone else testing soon, we will get our much longed for babies! Smile

@EmeraldLily18 yay what wonderful news and gives hope to us all who are approaching the dreaded 12 months! I'm 12th cycle so not far off month 12 now. It'll be September for me. I wish you so much luck and success for a healthy happy pregnancy Smile
@PlanBea ah well I hope full flow starts ASAP then if you think you're out. Yeah you're right. We're just gonna book something last minute now as you can't plan at all! So when can you move now then or have you already?

Motherofkittens28 · 02/08/2020 12:59

@EmeraldLily18, thats wonderful news! So many congratulations!

Whilstwewait · 02/08/2020 13:05

@EmeraldLily18 aw what lovely news and perfect timing for you. Makes the last year worth it. It gives us all hope sat here thinking it'll never happen as I imagine you felt the same. I do think for a lot of people it is just bad luck. Wishing yoir a healthy pregnancy. Please keep us all updated

@PlanBea Im the same I've tried so many different things. I just feel like giving up and drinking loads and eating crap as so many people don't have to make any effort. My AF still not here either. I have had nothing since last night. Its such a pain. Rather be on cycle day 1

@notyetamumbuttrying hope you manage to get away. We are so lucky we booked a UK break and the spa before covid and managed to do both. Im going to go back to the spa again in October. Hopefully around FW so im super relaxed. Xx

Fran2020 · 02/08/2020 13:48

@EmeraldLily18 Congratulations, such lovely news to hear! I wish you a healthy pregnancy! We are in our 14th cycle now so it's nice to hear some positive news!

notyetamumbuttrying · 02/08/2020 13:59

Thanks @Whilstwewait ooh yeah that is lucky! Great timing 😏 funny how we plan things for FW right 😂 our week off will be mid way through my period, so I'm hoping it's bfp before we go!

claireb707 · 02/08/2020 14:54

Oh wow @EmeraldLily18 congratulations!!

We hit 12 months on the 15th August, this is cycle 12 for us, still hoping we don't hit the unlucky 13.

PlanBea · 02/08/2020 15:02

Congratulations @EmeraldLily18, happy to see someone else graduate to a BFP! Hope for an uneventful 9 months!

@whilstwewait I know what you mean! It seems to work for so many other people who accidentally get pregnant or get a BFP without even thinking about it. But I know if I stopped tracking cycles/eating well etc I'd be lots more stressed without any sense of control!

Whilstwewait · 02/08/2020 16:19

@notyetamumbuttrying I even booked to go abroad in March for ovulation week. We were so relaxed DTD every day and still not pregnant haha. Can't win

@PlanBea I know. I'm the same. I think we only probably have 2 months to try to hopefully save thousands of pounds on IVF so i might as well throw everything at it. Even grapefruit juice haha. X

notyetamumbuttrying · 02/08/2020 17:20

@Whilstwewait nope, no rhyme or reason to it! You'll prob conceive in the most stressful week of your life having drank and ate badly. 😝 The law of sods right!

claireb707 · 02/08/2020 18:45

Think I'm going to have to take painkillers for boob pain, it's seriously uncomfortable 😩😢

Not had it like this before, bloody progesterone (even on the pop pill)

Motherofkittens28 · 03/08/2020 08:28

@claireb707, thats what I had last cycle, really painful. I concluded that its at least a sign of successful ovulation because my progesterone level last month was more than double the month before and I didn't have the pain then. You do also get that when pregnant though so its bloody confusing! Here's hoping its a really good sign for you

Motherofkittens28 · 03/08/2020 08:29

@PlanBea and @Whilstwewait how are you both doing?

Annny27 · 03/08/2020 11:35

thanks for the welcomes everybody :)

@EmeraldLily18 thats lovely news! Congratulations lovely :D

@whilstwewait yes I have tried the relaxed no opk method, the temping and dtd everyday method, the smep method, the see how it goes method......no method worked so far 🤣

@claireb707 are you taking progesterone suppositories as well then? I have them this cycle for when i have ovulated (potentially already ovulated but still having some ewcm and a nearlt positive opk so maybe its a 2nd peak.....)

Nope not supplemented just what my body is producing naturally
Anitaatje33 · 03/08/2020 12:56

So I did my first ever pregnancy test this morning, negative... Sad but I should have known that 9DPO is just too early to test. Just couldn't help myself, this is the first time I am 3 days late. Might try again in a few days if AF doesn't arrive.

@Annny27 just out of curiosity what were your symptoms that you were given progesteron supplements for after ovulation?

Annny27 · 03/08/2020 13:08

@Anitaatje33 I have luteal phase spotting (sometimes up to 5 days before AF) and also have had a previous miscarriage. Theres limited evidence as to whether or not it helps but the consultant said it cant harm to give it a go

PlanBea · 03/08/2020 16:07

@Motherofkittens28 another day of spotting for me! I just want to be on CD1. How are you doing?

@claireb707 how are the boobs today? (Not something I thought I would innocently ask on the internet, but there you go Grin) how many dpo are you now?

@Anitaatje33 maybe you're having a normal luteal phase this month? Hopefully its a good sign, fingers crossed - you aren't out yet!

Hey thanks for asking and no its not a question I thought I'd be asked 😂😂

They're not as bad today but still tender. Im 8dpo today and now seem to have a sore throat, will try and hold off to test till as late as possible I think, period is due Sunday I think

Chel93 · 03/08/2020 18:13

I'm really confused can any one help me out, so I've been using my clear blue advanced fertility monitor had a chemical last month, first few days of testing there was a faint second line, then there was one line so I stopped testing and just decided to give up this month today ive been having a tugging feeling in right side just done a opk test and come up 2 lines straight away my AF is due Sunday, could I just be having a bit of messed up cycle this month?

TTC 12 months buddies please
Whilstwewait · 03/08/2020 19:50

@motherofkittens28 I'm good thanks. Im cycle day 1. Worse time of the cycle as nothing going on. However i feel so much better than other months so that's something at least. How are you?

@claireb707 hopefully sore boobs are a good sign for you. Fingers crossed

@PlanBea are you cycle day 1 now? Af started properly for me today. I haven't had a huge amount of spotting this month but still there. Wishing my life away again waiting for ovulation

@Annny27 do you mind me asking where you went to get your progesterone? Im currently waiting for a fertility appointment. They have said it'll be september now. I've been on the waiting list since start of July and that's to go private. I really want progesterone for a couple of months because I spot from 9 DPO. That and not having much CM are the 2 things that i think may be affecting me. Or im just unlucky so far x

@Chel93 I think you should only go by the smiley on that test not the lines. With you giving up last time its hard to tell. Could be that you're just ovulating now after your chemical? Especially with the tugging pain or some people have a positive LH before their period or cos they're pregnanclt so hard to tell xx
