Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@Whilstwewait same day as my follow up at Fertility for our results of more tests we've had done! The 18th is hopefully going to be a good day for us both 🤞🏻 xx

PlanBea · 31/07/2020 21:06

@Whilstwewait perks of December/January is it means a September/October baby so oldest in the school year. We had first aimed for an October baby as it felt like the perfect month to give the best academic outcomes. Now I'd totally take a July/August baby to just have one. But silver linings if it does come to that at least? I know what you mean about feeling it will never happen naturally. Hope you enjoy your chilled evening with plenty of wine.

@Hayley19835 ooh annual leave sounds lovely! I've got a week booked beginning of September but nothing else. I'd kind of hoped to use a chunk of it just before going off for maternity but that's not going to happen now. I'm going to carry over 5 days but it still leaves me 3 weeks left to book. Are you doing anything with it or just being off?

Hayley19835 · 31/07/2020 21:21

@PlanBea not a lot planned really it's my nephews first birthday Thursday so got a day with him and my sister but had to take some time off due to Covid and not being able to take any between March and now so from the whole week. Can carry 2 weeks over to next year but still had 3 weeks to use before end of the year as get 5 weeks a year. xx

PlanBea · 31/07/2020 21:33

@Hayley19835 some time away from work should give you a bit of breathing space at least. Hopefully a chance to take care of yourself a bit before the next cycle starts properly. I feel like I could do with a TTC break as we move onto month 20 but I know by next fertile window I'll kick myself if we don't try xx

Hayley19835 · 31/07/2020 21:37

@PlanBea I keep saying I'm going to have a cycle off but never do 🤦🏼‍♀️ my job is quite stressful I'm a head nurse in a veterinary practice which has been hectic throughout the pandemic so I'm looking forward to a week of peace and hopefully no phone calls 🤞🏻 being in charge is hard work! Was so nice to put my out of office on today xx

Anitaatje33 · 01/08/2020 07:42

Hi everyone hope you've not melted during this sweaty night! So got my results yesterday after SA, AMH test and scan, husbands swimmers are perfect (he was very worried...) and my tests showed everything was normal egg-wise too. Got to ask all my questions and she was not worried at all about my consistent 8-9 day LP, erratic BBT chart, seemingly absent LH surge, and heavy, clotty periods (could have been MC she said :( ) . Soooo, unexplained infertility so far, what do we do now? Have been given the option to track a cycle to confirm ovulation, I would have to come in to the clinic a couple of times in a cycle I believe, and/or a hycosy scan, before going to IUI (which they only recommend after 2 years of trying) hopefully I'll be able to do these further tests via the NHS but not sure how long the waiting lists are now.

Meanwhile, I'm on CD28 with no sign of AF yet, the last 6 cycles have all been 23-26 days.... but my fertility app is telling me AF is not due until Monday (CD30) because I predicted ovulation to be on CD21... usually I would start getting cramps 1-2 days before and sometimes spotting 1 day before.
Eeek when would you test? Never done one before...

Sorry for the long chat!

Hayley19835 · 01/08/2020 08:12

@claireb707 how did your OH's SA go it was this week wasn't it? xx

claireb707 · 01/08/2020 08:49

Yeah he dropped the sample off yesterday morning, results within 10 days 🤞🤞

Hayley19835 · 01/08/2020 09:12

🤞🏻 for you @claireb707 keep us updated xx

Whilstwewait · 01/08/2020 09:16

@Hayley19835 hopefully the 18th is a good day for us both and we get some answers. I really want my AMH tested now and a scan and will feel like we have checked everything then.

@PlanBea good positive way of thinking of it. Im really hoping we get a 2021 baby and don't slip into 2022 but we shall see. What's the next steps for you if AF arrives?

@Anitaatje33 sounds like a real promising appointment that you had. How do you feel about it now? I had read that most experts don't see a short LP as an issue. Ahh well some idiots like me test every day from 7 days after ovulation haha. They say 12 DPO is the best chance of a clearer test result rather than having to squint too much. If u test earlier and its negative. It doesn't mean you're not pregnant just may be too early for the test to pick it up. Personal choice really whether you prefer to wait longer for a clearer result. Do keep us posted. X

Anitaatje33 · 01/08/2020 09:58

@Whilstwewait I feel relieved and confused at the same time really, as in there has to be an explanation that we are not pregnant after 15 months. I almost rather have a medical reason for it then 'unexplained' (I know that sounds so bad...)

I will take your advice and wait for a few more days I think to avoid disappointment

Hayley19835 · 01/08/2020 10:35

@Whilstwewait I really hope so! Not had AMH tested myself, had plenty of other bits and bobs checked though. Most of these results are for OH and looking into his low count more so hoping we get an answer and a plan moving forward 🤞🏻 xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/08/2020 11:13

@Whilstwewait yeah it's for until ovulation but you can drink it all cycle if you end up liking it. You only need about 3/4 of a pint glass so I guess one regular tall glass size. I do this and take evening primrose oil tablets too and it defo increases EWCM for me.
@Hayley19835 always good to have a reboot! The CB sticks are great I think!
@PlanBea your night sounded great! I enjoyed a cocktail last night too and also a cider. We went out for some Turkish food, was great!
Seems August is the month for all things fertility related! I've got my first blood test on the 11th, the day 21 bloods which are actually day 17 for me. Then I've got the day 3 ones on 21st but having them on day 2. The joys of short cycles!

Hayley19835 · 01/08/2020 11:31

@notyetamumbuttrying I've not used them before used to use the cheapies when was using them. I had my bloods on day 2 also and I think day 17 I'm with you in the short cycle club. Let's hope August is all our months xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 01/08/2020 12:43

Would be so amazing wouldn't it! @Hayley19835 I'd get my bfp just before our first wedding anniversary too 😊 it could be my gift to him, a positive pregnancy test! 🥰 I shouldn't fantasise so much, don't want to feel even more crushed than usual do I!

Annny27 · 01/08/2020 13:58

Could i please join? 🙈 14 months in the ttc first baby. We conceived after 4 months but misscarried at 12 weeks and now this is our 8th month since the miscarriage.

Wishing you ladies lots of luck and support! When i first started ttc and say the "more than 12 months" threads I was like omg thats so awful it takes so long.....well look at me now haha!

Veritymaybe · 01/08/2020 14:19

Hi girls,
I’m really upset and I just want someone to offer some consolidation/advice/reassurance that I’m not being unreasonable!!

Me and my partner live at opposite ends of the country. We see each other once a week, and I have been off the pill almost 12 months but have recently discovered that due to my lack of TTC knowledge before hand, we have never actually DTD on ovulation day. I do want a baby, and he does too despite having 3 from a previous relationship (I have none-am 10 years younger) I had the ‘leave it to chance’ attitude but that IS NOT working due to LD. we see each other once weekly IF THAT and obviously this is a lot different than ‘leaving it to chance’ when you live together and can baby dance every day.

I pointed out my fertile days to DP and told him the 3 days we should be trying this month. Day before O, O, and day after O.
He has now told me he has to return home on O day afternoon for work the following day. He is free lance, he is his own boss.
I have obviously been in floods of tears and have text him expressing how hurt I am that he has not taken this seriously. I wouldn’t give a SHIT about OPK’s, temping, fertile days, etc if we lived together, but since we don’t, it is ESSENTIAL he knows this information!!!!!!
He is now ignoring my texts.
I don’t think he will come at all now.

What to do? Everyone around me is getting pregnant and I could’ve been one of those this month. It’s all I want. And it isn’t going to happen because of his ignorance and now stubbornness :’(

Veritymaybe · 01/08/2020 14:21

Also, he has a habit of saying ‘you are 25 you have so much time ahead of you- chill and it will happen’
It’s so easy for someone who, at 25, already had two children. I feel he’s being really unfair.

Sorry for the essay!!! Someone help :(

PlanBea · 01/08/2020 22:03

@Annny27 hi, welcome to the club! 84% of people conceive within a year, 92% within two years. But having spent most of my life avoiding pregnancy, you think it will happen straight away, it still floors me I'm moving on to month 20 Sad

@claireb707 good luck, hope your results come quicker than 10 days!

@notyetamumbuttrying fingers crossed it all works out for you like that, this thread needs another BFP!

Spotting has started today Sad lots of cramping. AF is going to be here today or tomorrow. Gutted.

claireb707 · 02/08/2020 07:31

I'm 7dpo today and my boobs are so sore 😩😩 feel really heavy and even the duvet resting on them is annoying me

Whilstwewait · 02/08/2020 08:41

@Anitaatje33 I know what you mean. If I had a known issue i wouldn't hesitate to pay for private treatment but being unexplained makes you think you just haven't been lucky yet as lots of peoppe do conceive naturally after 1 year or after fertility treatment.

@planbea sorry the spotting has arrived. AF is such a bitch. Hope you're feeling ok? I know you're not out yet but i know the feeling every month when my spotting arrives you just feel that's it.

@claireb707 do they usually hurt at this stage? I never have sore boobs. I always want them now though haha in the hope of being pregnant

@Annny27 welcome. Sorry you find yourself here as well. I never expected it when i first started trying either. I thought I'd be pregnant by Christmas. Its such a difficult journey. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Hopefully this thread helps. Its nice to talk to people in a similar position x

@Chel93 how are you? Have you ovulated yet?

I've had a lovely weekend at a spa. Its been so relaxing. Wish i could do one every month. Hope everyone else has had a good weekend. X

OP posts:
claireb707 · 02/08/2020 08:45

Not normally this bad 😩😩🤞🤞

Chel93 · 02/08/2020 11:10

@Whilstwewait im OK thank you still no ovulation was still getting highs no peak but the stick white and 1 line so I've give up this month think its just an off month this month n start a fresh next month, how are you? Sounds like you had a lovely relaxing weekend at the spa

notyetamumbuttrying · 02/08/2020 11:15

@PlanBea it would be so amazing and will make the last 11 months feel worth all the shit but I can't pin all my hopes on that. I'm just glad we're getting the ball rolling with tests now. I'm hoping it will relax the both of us so that it all just happens naturally. Did AF arrive today then?
@claireb707 sounds like progesterone to me although sore boobs is one thing i never get so if I ever do I will think pregnancy straight away! 😆
@Whilstwewait that sounds lovely! I love a spa break and too would like to have one every weekend. They're just so relaxing aren't they! I really need a break soon, basically been non stop all year as our trip to Barbados got cancelled in March. We had Barcelona booked for this month but obvs that's cancelled now. We're hoping a Greek island won't get cancelled so we're gonna book last minute and pray until then 😂
