Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@notyetamumbuttrying did you get your phone call in the end? x

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/07/2020 19:19

Best of luck @Hayley19835 certainly sounds promising!!
I did yes, at 2 minutes before they close lol! I'm booked in for day 21 bloods which is actually day 17 for me due to my early ov. Need to get DH to call now and get his SA booked in!

claireb707 · 28/07/2020 19:41

@EmeraldLily18

Hey everyone!

Hope you are all well?

I had a walk and big chat with my MIL today, some of you who might be on the other thread (TTC 35+) will remember me saying that DH had some surgery as a child for an undescended testicle but didn’t know when it was. I’d read that if things are ‘corrected’ before 18 months then fertility should not be affected later in life so I really had to ask my MIL!
It was an interesting convo...she said he had that part corrected when he was just over 2 years old but then had another op at 5 years old to ‘drain something’ and check for a hernia. So, it doesn’t look great for that particular testicle! Confused She did say that the doc at the time told her that DH would still be able to “fire on one cylinder” which was hilarious for her to quote to me!

He has his SA on Thursday but I’m now fully expecting there to be low count as it seems reasonable to assume that one ‘side’ isn’t working!
I really wish it’d clicked with us back in January when we first saw GP and mentioned it then, but we are now 6 months further down the line (with me obsessively tracking on OPKs and POAS at the right time only to be disappointed). It is what it is though. Maybe he just needs to provide a few ‘samples’ and they can put them together to add volume 🤣

So, that’s where we are at!
AF is due this weekend, while we are at the hotel for our anniversary! I am still clinging onto the hope that SMEP has done the trick and I can get a BFP and buy him a ‘Best Dad’ babygro as it’s our cotton anniversary!!

Fingers, toes and eyes crossed for you all ladies, bring on the BFPs!

Fingers crossed it all comes back ok, although know exactly how you fee there. Partner has his booked for Friday morning. I'm now 2dpo, 🤞🤞 for there not being a cycle 13 for us but suspect sadly there will be
Hayley19835 · 28/07/2020 19:42

@notyetamumbuttrying I'm a bit worried as had a random few days bleed mid cycle for the last two cycles and now I'm in a panic something else is going on for it not to show! Bodies why do they do this to us!
That's good news, annoying they left it so late though to call you. Have you had any investigation done yet or is this the start for you? x

OrdinaryLilac · 28/07/2020 19:59

@Hayley19835 best of luck to you! Please do let us know.
I thought I was late but as the kind ladies on here explained, I'd ovulated late but that was a good thing for me and I got my BFP at 11dpo.

Let's see some more! 😁 Xx

Hayley19835 · 28/07/2020 21:00

@OrdinaryLilac I will do....watch this space 👀 xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/07/2020 21:12

@Hayley19835 ah bless ya, must be so nerve racking for you!
Yeah it's the start for us as I'm on cycle 12 now but it's month 11 from next week.

Congrats @OrdinaryLilac! Hope alls going well for you!

Hayley19835 · 28/07/2020 21:19

@notyetamumbuttrying hopefully you get some answers soon then with the start of tests. We are awaiting a follow up apt that should of been in March but got cancelled due to Covid it's been a long wait xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 28/07/2020 21:45

@Hayley19835 I don't feel like anything's wrong with me apart from ov'ing early but plenty of women have said that didn't impact them. But who really knows!? I'll soon find out I guess. Dh doesn't think anything's wrong with him but we could both be surprised!
Has your clinic reopened yet? You might not need it hopefully 🤞🏾

Whilstwewait · 29/07/2020 08:03

@anitaatje33 welcome to the group. It does sound like you have a lot going on. Hopefully on Friday you will get some answers. Our bodies are so confusing sometimes. On another thread a girl asked for progesterone as her luteal phase was only 8 days and got her positive that month so maybe worth asking. Another girl got clomid which helped with the same issue and resulted in a positive. Theres plenty of things doctors can do to help x

@PlanBea I'd be happy with that progesterone. Mine was 32 so confirmed ovulation but probably explains my spotting. Although i did read that if egg fertilises the corpus luteam will force your body to produce more to support the pregnancy. I'm sure a fertility consultant told someone on here.

@Fran2020 good news about the sperm analysis. Such a relief. Hopefully won't be too much longer for you now and you get lucky

@Hayley19835 you are so good for holding out. I would have caved by now and tested. Im praying its a positive for you x

@notyetamumbuttrying im glad they rang you back and got the ball rolling. Are you having day 3 bloods as well? I'd ask for them as well. They test FSH and all sorts including thyroid which can make conceiving hard x

@chel93 @motherofkittens28 how are you both getting on? Xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 29/07/2020 08:32

@Whilstwewait thank you! I'm collecting a blood form today so if they're not on there I'll call back and I'll ask that they get put on.
How are you doing today?

Motherofkittens28 · 29/07/2020 09:11

@Anitaatje33 welcome to the group! Fingers crossed for some good news for you soon.

@OrdinaryLilac glad to hear that everything is going well so far.

@Whilstwewait I'm doing ok, just waiting for AF to start, even though I'm 90% sure im out my mind keeps playing tricks on me and noticing possible symptoms. I'm due on Friday so I'd expect to start spotting today. This month was the last we had decided for active trying because of our wedding date (July 2021) but now I'm not so sure if its sensible to stop. How is your month going? You are a week (ish) behind my cycle if I remember correctly?

Chel93 · 29/07/2020 11:27

@Whilstwewait I'm doing OK thank you still using my afm but haven't ovulated yet this month so think I need to give my body a bit of time to get back to normal 2 weeks till I see the fertility doctor and find out whats next, how are you getting on

PlanBea · 29/07/2020 12:03

@OrdinaryLilac good to hear! I hope you have a nice, uneventful 9 months ahead. (And that the rest of us aren't too far behind you!)

@EmeraldLily18 eek I bet that was an awkward conversation! Does MIL know you're TTC?

@Hayley19835 how are you doing today? (Can you tell this group is desperate for some happy news?)

@Motherofkittens28 I'm in the same boat this cycle. I normally roll my eyes at "I'm 3dpo and I've sneezed once, is this a sign I'm pregnant? It's our first month TTC" posts, but this cycle I'm symptom spotting like mad and I'm still only 8dpo and too early. I think next month we might just not try, not prevent. This month has taken a lot out of me, plus if we wait till September it means enhanced maternity pay rather than statutory. I don't think I could go back to active prevention though after so long of trying!

PlanBea · 29/07/2020 12:05

@Chel93 what CD are you on today? When is it you normally ovulate?

Chel93 · 29/07/2020 13:15

@PlanBea im on CD17 I normally ovulate CD14 but nothing so think my body is a bit out of sort after last month so ill be expecting AF in August then start again

OrdinaryLilac · 29/07/2020 13:49

@Chel93 I had the clear blue fertility monitor. I got a high reading around mid cycle, so around when you'd expect. But it never peaked and I tested solid for 10 days. Really weird.. And then I got a positive after doing a random opk on cycle day 27! And that was good news for me! Fingers crossed its the same for you! 😊

Chel93 · 29/07/2020 14:12

@OrdinaryLilac I was getting lows and then on Monday I got high yesterday and today but there is only 1 line on the test so don't know whats going on with it, I hope I'm the same, how are you feeling? Did you do or take anything different last month that you think helped get your BFP?

Motherofkittens28 · 29/07/2020 14:15

@OrdinaryLilac do you have long cycles? I've read that opks can be positive if you are pregnant, you can use them as pregnancy tests in a pinch, maybe it was showing you were pregnant on Cd27?

OrdinaryLilac · 29/07/2020 14:29

@Chel93 really not wanting to annoy anyone here, I know how frustrating it is waiting for the bfp. But we actually conceived when we didn't try as hard! And believe me, I was just as pissed off as anyone one when people said that to me.. Only difference being was we had the clear blue fertility monitor. But I definitely wouldn't say it was because of it that it finally happened. To be honest it felt like we didn't want to force it just because the monitor told us to if that makes sense.. But like I said, not wanting to annoy anyone, who thought it would be have been so difficult to have a baby! I guess it was just our time.. And it's gunna be everyone's on here soon enough!
In terms of how I'm feeling.. I really don't feel any different. I had literally no symptoms at the time of testing..i just decided on day, as I usually did most day, to take another test. And to my amazement, the line started to show within a minute. So I knew right there and then it had finally happened. All those tests I'd squinted, held up in different lights etc. When you get your two lines.. You definitely know you have them! And it's such a lovely feeling. I don't have any symptoms at the moment other that sore breasts... Its really weird. I want to feel something so I know everything is okay haha.

@Motherofkittens28 my cycles are usually from around 30 days, then a couple. They ere never a set amount of days. I'd done quite a few tests, embarrassingly probably every single day haha. So i do believe it was a possible opk. I also did do a digital with week indicator so it does all add up. But who knows, will find out hopefully in another 6 weeks 😁

Love to you all xx

Whilstwewait · 29/07/2020 15:36

@notyetamumbuttrying yes double check what's on there. There's probably loads of stuff they are testing. It is a good feeling knowing you are doing something. Make sure your OH does his bit as well.

Im ok im 8 or 9 DPO. More likely 8 though. I had a tiny dot of pink blood when i wiped today. My pre AF spotting is normally brown but i think it may just be from a little cut or something. I was expecting brown CM when I got home but its still just creamy. Id like to get to the weekend without any spotting at least. Because i know its not too long till our fertility appointment if she does arrives i dont think i'll feel too bad.

@Motherofkittens28 any spotting for you yet? I'm 8 or 9 DPO AF usually arrives day 13 with spotting from day 9 so we shall see tomorrow. Apart from the dot of pink today I've had nothing. I hate spotting though makes the wait for AF harder as you just know she will arrive but think what if. What symptoms have you had? So hard to think what to do with your wedding. If it helps i was thinking of trying to get into a clinic that can see me quicker but then i thought after trying for 13 months with nothing a couple of extra months waiting won't make much difference to me

@chel93 I've heard ovulation is usually delayed after a chemical so you're right dont worry your body is just settling back down. Still in with a chance this month. I'm ok. Still expecting AF to arrive. Don't feel too awful about it but i know when she does there is always upset. Should know within next couple of days xx

@OrdinaryLilac no your not annoying anyone its so happy to finally get a BFP in this group give us all some home im so happy for you, so glad you've only got mild symptoms hopefully you'll have a lovely relaxing 9 months, thats what everyone keeps saying to me just relax thats what were doing this month im testing with OPKs but just going with the flo
@Whilstwewait ye I think my ovulation is delayed this month so just trying to relax ive been taking folic acid and vit d this month too seing if that helps out a little bit, are you hopefully she doesn't arrive for you but it just gets to the point were you think I no shes coming so just hurry up so I can start again next cycle im the same

notyetamumbuttrying · 29/07/2020 16:40

@Whilstwewait they were on there so that's good! DH has spoken to the dr today so that's all underway too! The only thing I don't have sorted is the scan as my hospital aren't doing routine scans still 🙄
Oh ok, so not too bad then. Is your fertility appointment on the nhs or private? I take it it's next week then? Best of luck to you!

Motherofkittens28 · 29/07/2020 17:28

@Whilstwewait no, no spotting yet, but ive been feels crampy since Sunday/ Monday so I'm sure it's coming. I had really sore boobs, darker nipples and visible blue veins but my boobs don't seem as sore now so it may just have been a reaction to higher than normal progesterone for me this month. I've been feeling nauseous in the morning when I wake up as well and I've had a headache today but I'm sure its not related really! I thought i was 14dpo but going back through my notes I might only be 12dpo as I did have some pains on the 17th and I hadn't had my usual ovulation pains on the day I thought i ovulated. I got my BFN in Sunday which may have only been 9dpo actually, but I dont want to get my hopes up. I think we will carry on not using protection but stop scheduling dtd as its taking all the fun out of it and its just to stressful, sods law will be that I get pregnant in October and we will have to postpone the wedding but if that's the case then that's what we will gave to do

Chel93 · 29/07/2020 17:54

@Motherofkittens28 my friend done that said she was going to stop trying after trying for 13 months as their wedding was in October so December they stopped trying and conceived that month their little girl was born september and wedding October she said to me it was because she stopped stressing and was more relaxed
