Hi,

We have just hit the 12 month mark of TTC and looks like AF is on the way Sad I am on another thread that's really supportive but I do find it disheartening when people get positives on the first couple of cycles of trying. So thought I'd start a thread for anyone around about the year mark. It'll be good to share things and get advice from people who are at a similar stage to me. Im 34 and my husbands 36. We are TTC number 1 x

@EmeraldLily18 have a google of sperm meets egg plan, it's just lots of sex basically! So I'm sure you're not doing it wrong at all!
@Hayley19835 hmm yeah that is odd! Have you done an opk to see if anything shows? Your cycles might be shortening. Or it could just be an odd one 🤔

Hayley19835 · 18/07/2020 15:26

@notyetamumbuttrying cycles are already short at 24 days so do hope not. AF only finished a week ago then this bleeding started again. Work has been really busy so hopefully it's just stress related x

Hayley19835 · 18/07/2020 15:28

@notyetamumbuttrying haven't done a OPK night try one

PlanBea · 18/07/2020 15:31

@EmeraldLily18 it's basically DTD every other day from CD8 until ovulation, then DTD that day for 3 days in a row, day off, and one more go. It's supposed to help if there's any male factor infertility and to cover any timing issues. I'm not sure if it does anything but gives me a feeling of control at least!

notyetamumbuttrying · 18/07/2020 17:45

@Hayley19835 mine are 24 days too! Do you find you ov on cd10 usually? Or do you have a short luteal phase? Hopefully it is just a stress thing then x

Hayley19835 · 18/07/2020 17:57

@notyetamumbuttrying
Yea normally I ovulate pretty soon after AF finishes. But last two cycles have been right out of whack with this mid cycle bleeding from CD13 to CD17 and then today bleeding has stopped and now loads of EWCM x

PlanBea · 18/07/2020 22:07

CD15 today and no sign of ovulation yet. I'm not sure whether to reschedule my CD21. I tend to have annovulatory cycles so I'm not really sure when to reschedule it for? If only it could be done by peeing on something, I'm good at POAS Grin

Motherofkittens28 · 19/07/2020 09:52

@Hayley19835 that sounds odd, I echo what someone else said about supplements messing up your cycles though, so strange for things that are meant to help!
Anyone else get really sore boobs post ovulation? I normally get this kind of in the middle of the two week wait but this cycle it started the day after I think I ovulated. Boobs feel really heavy and sore and my nipples are also very sore. I'm sure its way to early to be symptomatic of anything but I can't help but have a twinge of hope. I didn't do opks this month as I ran out and previously always ovulated on day 13 or 14 so I think im pretty predictable. We dtd ever other day from day 7 anyway just to make sure id catch any early ovulation. It would be so amazing if this was our month and we'd have a 3 month old by the time of our wedding this time next year.

Hayley19835 · 19/07/2020 09:57

@Motherofkittens28 I've been taking Pregnacare for months so might stop them and see if it makes a difference so odd and so frustrating!

Motherofkittens28 · 19/07/2020 10:15

@Hayley19835 pregnacare are apparently notorious for messing up your cycle as they have too much b vit in. I switched to seven seas which are cheaper and haven't caused the same effects. I took pregnacare for 3 months and my cycles went from 28days like clockwork to 25 - 27 days

Hayley19835 · 19/07/2020 10:18

@Motherofkittens28 oh my I didn't know this I've been taking them nearly a year this may be why I'm going to stop them and have a break then maybe try something else. Thanks for the info lovely these things are recommended but no one tells you the side affects they can cause x

PlanBea · 19/07/2020 10:36

@Motherofkittens28 not to be a downer on your symptom spotting but I often get achey boobs/nips on the run up to AF. It's so cruel that PMS symptoms are the same as early pregnancy. Are you temping? Mine are when my post ovulation temps are still quite low, when my post ovulation temp is high I've never had the boob pain!

Motherofkittens28 · 19/07/2020 12:13

@PlanBea, yes I do as well but I'm not due AF for 12 days, so seems a little soon for PMS. I dont normally have any soreness until around 7 days post ovulation. I don't do temping, its never worked for me, i used to use natural cycles for contraception in the past and i never detected a temp rise in 18 months of using it!

EmeraldLily18 · 20/07/2020 17:15

So happy because clinic has rescheduled Hub’s SA appointment without me having to find out who to phone! It’s next Thursday but mid morning which is tricky for him for work. So, hopefully, other couples have managed to get pregnant in the past 4 months and don’t need their appointment and we can have an earlier appointment time.
And, again hopefully, they will be happy enough for me to deliver it and allow him to head out to work.

It says it’ll be a 5min appointment in order to ask some questions, has anyone done this before and know what might be asked?
So pleased that things finally seem to be moving forward.

And, @notyetamumbuttrying/@PlanBea, it turns out I was pretty much following the SMEP plan without realising it! We were only DTD on alternate days though so added in the extra day in between to make 3 in a row (well, today will be day 3!). So, we have covered all bases. I’m sure Hubs will be grateful for a day ‘off’ tomorrow 😂

Hayley19835 · 20/07/2020 20:37

@EmeraldLily18 that's fantastic news x

Hayley19835 · 20/07/2020 20:40

I stopped taking the Pregnacare Saturday and the odd bleeding has also stopped so will see if AF arrives as it should do Saturday and go from there on cycle 50 billion x

PlanBea · 20/07/2020 21:41

Hi ladies, any clue how much wine is the right amount for being told your cousin is pregnant just from being looked at by her partner? Also you were told face to face, by surprise, in front of a crowd of people, by your mum who knows you're struggling TTC? It included a full in depth analysis of the announcement, in case that's worth an extra shot or something.

Feeling pretty sh*tty tonight Sad I just want it to be my turn.

Fran2020 · 20/07/2020 21:49

@PlanBea awww I'm really sorry to hear that, that's really hard. 😔 The same thing happened with my cousin so I feel for you. We all deserve for it to be our times. Sending positive thoughts xx

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/07/2020 21:53

@PlanBea I know the feeling. So sorry my love! Defo a bottle of wine and a shot of tequila! It has to be our turn soon doesn't it!?

PlanBea · 20/07/2020 22:02

@Fran2020 @notyetamumbuttrying thank you. I could probably have dealt with the pregnancy being announced and it's not a complaint about my cousin (well, a little twinge of jealousy...) But the way it was announced to me and by my mum too has just tipped me over the edge tonight. I keep bursting into tears.

Today isn't an easy one but maybe tomorrow will be easier, it's such a roulette when you're deep into TTC.

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/07/2020 22:08

@PlanBea what was your mum playing at? Seems very mean and insensitive to me considering she knows your struggles. Does she not think sometimes or do you think she wanted to hurt you? Did you say anything to her afterwards?

PlanBea · 20/07/2020 22:19

@notyetamumbuttrying she was definitely just not realising what she was doing. She is one of those people who got pregnant first month with me and my brother, and just can't really understand anyone struggling to make a baby.

I haven't said anything as it was a doorstop visit to drop off her shopping, and I don't really feel up to talking about it with her. Maybe in a few days I'll send her one of those "what not to say to someone with infertility" articles or something to give her a hint (and maybe stop her referring to my "dusty uterus" Hmm)

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/07/2020 22:30

@PlanBea excellent idea! Parents can say the most hurtful things sometimes. My mum was trying to put it down to me not giving up drink for long enough 🙄

Hayley19835 · 21/07/2020 12:54

@PlanBea so sorry to hear your feeling crap hope your feeling better today 😊 xx

PlanBea · 23/07/2020 14:51

Hi 12 months+ buds, how are you all doing?

CD20 today for me and I might have ovulated. I'm glad as I'm getting a bit fed up of the scheduled DTD from SMEP Grin. When we weren't TTC we would usually be 3-4 times a week, but usually more clustered around the weekend. On a Thursday after a long week at work I am so over it haha.

Feeling a bit better following the latest pregnancy announcement, though did have another wobble thinking "if we DO conceive now, our kid would be in the same school year and my aunt will be a nightmare competing over which baby does best". But then I gave my head a wobble and I'm ok again.

How are you doing @notyetamumbuttrying, @Hayley19835, @Fran2020, @Motherofkittens28, @EmeraldLily18? (and others, just tagging in the most recent posters)
