Hi all, I just wanted to join as I found a thread like this helped me cope last time around! It took 12 months ttc to get pregnant with my DS and now here I am again ttc no. 2 and we are 6 months in! So nice to have some company!

Thanks for the welcome! About to start acupuncture again as I swear that was the only thing that worked last time! Also just to pass on something I learnt last time round as a few of you are looking at next steps, if you start looking at assisted conception then you have to have an up to date smear so worth booking that in while you are waiting! Assume that hasn't changed!

notyetamumbuttrying · 20/07/2020 09:25

Thanks @Chalkie67! My smear is due in September, the same month that it'll be 12 months of ttc 😬

Crayon7 · 20/07/2020 09:49

I am overdue my smear się to COVID as i did t want ro go in unless i really have to, I hope in case I get pregnant that's okay.

Can you have smear done when pregnant?

Tink2019 · 20/07/2020 11:06

@Chalkie67 a couple of us have started talking about acupuncture on another thread, do you mind sharing how often you had it done?

Chalkie67 · 20/07/2020 11:48

@Tink2019 I had it once a week until ovulation and then I think I didn't have it in the TWW. I had an acupuncturist who did traditional Chinese medicine and 5 elements (apparently there are different types) I'm actually starting with a new person this week because we have moved away from my last lady. For me it really helped with my long and irregular cycles.

lamby12 · 20/07/2020 14:40

Welcome @Chalkie67 @Crayon7

@Crayon7 no you can't have a smear test when pregnant.
You should get one if your due though, I know they aren't pleasant but very important.

Thanks. I wanted to but don't want to go in to GP unless I really need to. This COVID situation is stressing me out I guess and don't want to risk going somewhere where there may be someone that has it given me being higher risk.will think about it thanks. X

Amazing thank you - Chinese medicine is what I've been looking at as I also have long and irregular cycles. Will see how we go over the next month or two then might give it a go. How long after starting it did you conceive? Hope your new lady is just as good!

@Tink2019 I had acupuncture for around 2 months with one lady but didn't get on with her. Then gave it a break for a while then found another lady and started at Christmas and I was pregnant by late February....they always say you need to give it about 3 months as it's not an instant fix so worth giving it a go if you are interested. It worked to give me a more normal cycle as I was having cycles that were 40-50 days long

lamby12 · 21/07/2020 13:05

Hi ladies how are those in the TWW managing? I'm now 10dpo managed realllllly well so far this month (because we weren't really trying this month, to avoid too much obsessing, but we did try in the end...)
Now starting to look at dates and think about testing even though I swore I wouldn't test!!!!! Confused how is everyone distracting themselves?
I don't think I will be too disappointed when AF arrives as I haven't built up hopes this month but it's still that window of time now where it becomes as bit difficult not to think about it!

notyetamumbuttrying · 21/07/2020 13:54

@lamby12 ooh that's a tricky one! I'm 7dpo so won't get the urge until the weekend. I would recommend waiting until at least 12dpo so that you're not squinting trying to see lines. No point driving yourself crazy! Best of luck!

lamby12 · 21/07/2020 14:22

@notyetamumbuttrying thanks! You're so right. I told myself I wouldn't test until August if AF doesn't arrive... as if!!?
I thought about how I'd feel if I test early again... if it's negative, I'll think it's could still be positive in a few days'. If it's positive I'll think 'I'm not sure, it could be an evap' so I'm going to try and not torture myself! You'll be 12dpo by the weekend so that's an ok time to test if you get the urge.

lamby12 · 21/07/2020 14:24

@notyetamumbuttrying ps, when I've had the want to test the last 2 days I've just gone for my first wee quick before I can fall into the trap, then the FMU is gone and there's no debate! Grin

notyetamumbuttrying · 21/07/2020 15:21

@lamby12 yeah that's what I do as well lol! Yeah I might test Sunday morning but I'm staying at my parents so would have to take them with me lol! So I might have to wait until Monday now, but I don't want to find out and then have to work. So I might not take my own advice and do it even earlier...I'm staying at there's from fri until sun so I might do it fri morning before I go. Haven't quite decided yet so it's going round and round in my head as you can probably tell 😆
