@gypsywater I will order the day AF comes, cheer myself up a little!!!

@mummyofzog what does the Ava do that ovusense doesn't? Is it better then that? I'm the same, at least in TWW I feel hopeful

Fifol · 09/06/2020 15:48

@skittles2003 I use the opks because my cycles have been a bit irregular but are starting to settle a bit more now. I just found if I didn't know when I ovulated i didn't know for sure when af was due and I hated that. So find them good.i also feel like I need to be doing something if I wasnt using opks I'd feel like I wasn't on control if that makes sense. Even though I'm not exactly in control of anything anyway!!!

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/06/2020 15:58

That makes total sense to me @Fifol!! I also use opk's and want to avoid anything like bbt or ovusense because of the cost mainly. Although bbt isn't expensive but it would drive me nuts thinking I had to do it everyday. I'm quite happy to poas each month for a few days. I have regular cycles so I kinda know when I ov now anyway but it's nice to get that confirmation. I am intrigued to know the difference between ovusense and Ava like @AnxiousAnnie86 🤔

skittles2003 · 09/06/2020 16:15

@Fifol I completely get that - I have to be in control too (as much as is possible)! I started out thinking that I'd just "go with the flow" and let it happen... Ha! That didn't last long. I have been relying on bbt and CM but maybe I will also look at OPKs as I like trying something new every month too. I am always planning the next cycle and assuming there will be one...

AnxiousAnnie86 · 09/06/2020 16:38

So I have spent the last hour researching instead of working! Whoops!

So I'm summery Ava Bracelet does the following:

Skin temp
Decreases by about 0.2°C after menstruation before rising 0.4°C after ovulation, remaining elevated until your next period begins.

Resting pulse rate
Drops by about 1.5 beats during the follicular (pre-ovulation) phase, before increasing through the fertile window and peaking in the luteal (post-ovulation) phase.

Heart rate variability
Typically rises in the follicular phase and falls in the luteal phase. It’s an indicator of physiological stress, with a higher ratio suggesting the body is under greater duress.

Perfusion
Is the passage of blood through the circulatory system. It’s lowest at the start of the fertile window and highest in the luteal phase and during menstruation.

Breathing Rate
Measures lower at the start of the fertile window and higher in the late luteal phase.

It tracks your five most fertile days, like clear blue advanced, I think it takes one cycle to start working properly, you just wear it like a watch when you go to bed, and then sync it to the app in a morning,

And Ovusense does the following

Measures BBT every five mins during the night.

You have to insert it into your vagina every night 🙈 take it out wash it and then sync it to your phone I think it plugs into it? It does five fertile days too

I've just bloody gone and bought and Ava bracelet, I got it off eBay from someone selling it and it was half the price, I don't think it's latest version but don't think there's much diff.....

I'd just love to be able to simply where that and take the stress away from everything else! Maybe that in itself will work! Although after purchasing I have just read it may not be as accurate for irregular cycles 🤬

Sorry for long post but thought may be of interest xxx

PinkFlamingoGirl · 09/06/2020 16:41

Afternoon ladies! Wow busy thread today. Just caught up with everyone. I use OPKs. I haven't tracked bbt. I am going to not do any of it next month though if this isn't my month. I'm going to just go with cm and see what happens but fingers crossed it doesn't come to that. Xx

gypsywater · 09/06/2020 16:56

I think one advantage of Ovusense is that it works OK on irregular cycles - I THINK. Mine vary between 26 and 29 days (with a random 33 days in Dec, that was fun, got my hopes up!) so may be best for me rather than the Ava. I do think that these ovulation things can lull into a false sense of security tho as what if its the sperm and/or implantation that is the issue. But I guess it rules one type of problem out. Argh, why do I always think negatively with this and assume they'll be a problem?!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 09/06/2020 17:08

@gypsywater yeah mine are much more irregular between 32 and 49! But I guess temp etc still follows same pattern, so maybe it'll still work! I need to take some pressure off so think it's for the best!...... I bet I just end up doing this on top of everything else!!! 🤣 the thing that puts me off with Ovusense is its internal! My husband quite likes to do it on a morning and I think it would ruin the romance a little 🙈

gypsywater · 09/06/2020 17:11

@AnxiousAnnie86 yeah it's definitely not the more spontaneous of devices haha

Kitttycatt · 09/06/2020 17:12

Hi everyone! Nice to see lots of people on the thread. Update from me still waiting on AF - 5 days late but i've taken 3 tests now all negative so think I'm out, just want to start the next cycle now.

I use clear blue ov tests but it must have got my ovulation date really wrong as I'm so late, I got my static smiley CD11 which is so early for me. Maybe just a random odd cycle?! My temps did take quite a while to rise so I should have carried on DTD in my fertile window. Think I'm going to DTD every other day next cycle to cover all bases!

Nat4392 · 09/06/2020 17:24

I’ve looked at both Ava bracelet and Ovusense. Honestly I can’t justify the cost for either. I naively think if I got pregnant next month it would be a right waste of money lol. Tbh I’m happy poas for a few days a month. Although it sounds really interesting. I don’t even fancy BBT, I think I’d really not sleep well because I’d be worrying about taking it after enough sleep/at the right time!

MummyOfZog · 09/06/2020 17:44

@AnxiousAnnie86 Sorry for tempting you into buying an Ava! Hopefully it'll be a worthwhile impulse buy!

I got mine off ebay so paid less than half price for it, and they seem to hold re-sale value well so I plan to sell it on ebay once I (fingers crossed!) get my BFP! Looking at prices on ebay i think I could re-sell mine for about the same as I paid for it.

Be prepared that it might take a cycle or two to learn about you, so your predicted Ov date on the first cycle is likely to be driven more by simple cycle dates rather than the measurements it's taking. Once it knows more about your personal cycle trends it becomes much more accurate I believe. I just love it for the ease of not having to worry about taking my temperature!

gypsywater · 09/06/2020 17:48

I know what you mean @Nat4392. Wish I had got one in January Sad

gypsywater · 09/06/2020 18:01

I'm thinking I could at least keep the Ovusense for TTC any further babies! They must make a killing on these devices!

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/06/2020 18:12

Thanks for doing all the hard work @AnxiousAnnie86! Hope it works out for you even tho you have irregular cycles. Perhaps they'll get more regular if this helps reduce the stress.

Same as me @Nat4392 with temping. I'd just end up having crap nights sleep with worrying about it. I know myself well lol!

Ooh I bet they do too @gypsywater the whole ttc market must be a goldmine 😆

Aokbaby · 09/06/2020 18:51

@skittles2003 yea my periods came back straight away too but the past w months seem more like a 'real period' suppose it makes sense that it would take our bodies a while to adjust back to what is normal.

That's great girls, really enjoy catching up with everyone on here xx

Hoping41 · 09/06/2020 19:24

Wow! I go to work for one day and I have about an hours worth of messages to read 🤣🤣
Welcome @skittles
It was interesting reading about the ava bracelet. I'd seen it before but I thought you had to wear it all the time which would kind of be like outing yourself. It's definitely pricey but yes, you will definitely be able to resell it.
I missed the fb group unfortunately. I'm happy to just be on here - I just wanted to see what you look like 🧐
It's really interesting that most of us haven't told anyone we're ttc. I know 3 people who did - 1 who went on, finally, to become pregnant and 2 who haven't yet. I think that's what made me not tell, I don't want to have to let everyone know that it's been another unsuccessful month.
Anyway, I'm so pleased that work was busy and it passed the day. Funnily enough, all the little twinges I've been feeling all tww disappeared as soon as I wasn't focusing on them. Too much free time isn't good for me!

notyetamumbuttrying · 09/06/2020 19:37

We work fast here @Hoping41 haha 😆 I'm sure @MrsCOR can open it back up so that you can join! We're discussing how we met OH's and proposals. It's wonderful to reminisce!

Twinkletoes85 · 09/06/2020 20:23

@Hoping41 as soon as she sees it I'm sure she'll open it back up for you to join!

It's hard with telling people as then you know they're waiting for news. I worry about jinxing it if I tell too many people too. I told a few more people than I intended to as OH lost his job just before Xmas just after we started trying and so I got a bit upset and angry about the timing (he's employed again now) and then the covid fear happened right during my tww so I asked to wfh early just in case.

Seafrontsky · 09/06/2020 20:38

Just catching up too! Hardly on facebook but happy to join this group. You ladies are great. @MrsCOR are you able to open it again?

Just laughing at @Hoping41 comment about how everytime I come on to say something someone else has already said it! Think that's why I'm such a lurker rather than commenting!

6DPO here and feeling all hormonal. Completely lost it with the kids today, and yesterday. Know that's awful to say especially when everyone is so desperate for your own but they've been pushing all my buttons and I feel like a horrible person. Think its cabin fever or something. Needing a glass of wine today!

DSC1 · 09/06/2020 20:47

Wow lots of messages to catch up on from today!

Welcome to the group @skittles2003 - I also use OPKs I like the clearblue digital which tell you your days leading up to ovulation. They do get expensive though...

@Swifty2 I don’t do bbt tracking but I’m keeping everything crossed that you get your BFP. I really feel like this group is due some...

@Seafrontsky this situation is so hard, we are all allowed to lose it at some point!!

MrsCOR · 09/06/2020 21:14

Sorry guys for the late reply! I have opened the group again for those that want to join! @Seafrontsky and @Hoping41

Hoping41 · 09/06/2020 21:39
