Hi everyone,

Me and my husband have made the decision to try for a baby - we had a talk last month after I thought I might be pregnant (we weren't actively trying) and after 12 years together feel that now is the right time.

I'm feeling really excited and a little nervous - I know it may take a while and I just want to be as prepared as possible and be doing as many of the right things as I can.

What do people recommend for trying to get pregnant? Is anyone else in the same boat and would like to keep in touch/progress?

I'm due to finish AF in around 2 days and due to ovulate around 28th according to my tracker app - I've got folic acid and vitamin D arriving tomorrow that I can start taking, what else can I be doing to prepare as much as possible? I know it sounds silly, but do we just start 'trying' as soon as my period is over?

Look forward to speaking to you all soon!

Thanks,

Bee x

@AlisonLew15 @Mrskcam wow what a small world🙊

AlisonLew15 · 09/06/2020 17:41

Quiet day on the thread today.
So DH and I have been looking for almost a year for a dog, yesterday the perfect pup came up local to us (working cocker spaniel - chocolate!) we've reassessed and sadly come to the decision that it's not right timing for us at the moment. IF we were to get pregnant, I think a baby and a puppy is just too much to handle at one time. Feeling a bit meh!
13dpo today- still haven't tested. Ahhhh

Sarah1253 · 09/06/2020 18:29

Hi ladies I was hoping someone could help. I am going crazy symptom spotting, I’m 13dpo and af due tomorrow.
I tested 10dpo, 11dpo and 12dpo all bfn. (All clear blue)
I tested today with a cheap Asda test and I think either my eyes are playing tricks on me, or there is a faint evap line?!
Please can I have your thoughts? X

Sarah I can definitely see a line, looks very similar to the test I have done and I'm not really sure either! I was worried it might be the asda tests so went out and got a different one (still a cheap one tho) and got another really faint line. Mine hasn't progressed after 2 days tho, so I'm worried I might be having a chemical.. Maybe test again in a few days and see if there is a stronger line, hope its good news for you!

Sarah1253 · 09/06/2020 19:19

Thank you for replying! Yes I think I will test again tomorrow. Hope it works out for you too xxx

SK2970 · 09/06/2020 21:32

@sarah1253 I can definitely see a line on that! Fingers crossed you get a stronger line in the next few days!

Summertime1992 · 09/06/2020 21:55

@BeeR2009 @Kwmac congratulations to you both :)
@AlisonLew15 I love dogs and always had them when I lived with my parents we made the same decision not to get one as we want a baby first.
@Sarah1253 I can see a line too

Sorry I have been MIA the last couple of days, works busy am feeling blah and also just got thrush so joy for me. I am on cycle day 20, 6 more days to go and I am not too hopeful though its only our first cycle.

Poppyismyfavourite · 09/06/2020 22:03

Hi guys! Sorry didn't want to do a disappearing act but no news here yet - I'm now on CD 34 (14-17 dpo). No AF yet but had another negative test this morning. Been testing every 2 days since Friday but nothing! Is it still possible that I could be pregnant??

Mrskcam · 10/06/2020 07:18

I'm 1dpo today so officially in the tww (well according to my app). Even though af is not due till 24th I'm hopeful that if we catch this month I could get a positive on 21st to give to my partner as a Father's Day present but we'll see

Bam27 · 10/06/2020 07:41

@Poppyismyfavourite I think it is still possible if you ovulated late. I think I ovulated late this month I'm on cycle day 40! No AF and only super light positive line on test yesterday.
@Mrskcam Good luck, I hope you get your BFP, I hate the two week wait makes me crazy!
@Summertime1992 That sucks! Hope you feel better soon.

I resisted the urge to test this morning, mostly because my OH wants me to wait until tomorrow, but the not knowing for sure is driving me mad, I've had 4 super faint positives over the last 3 days but they don't look like they are getting stronger. Really hoping tomorrow I get a stronger line.

Peach1204 · 10/06/2020 07:58

My willpower is deteriorating! To the point that I've opened 2 pregnancy test boxes but then when I read the instructions it says to use first urine of the day if testing before missed period so I can't do it today. I'm not going to make it to Thursday next week (4 days after AF is due) which was my original plan so I don't give anything away. I think I'll have to do Monday if AF doesn't show on Sunday. Bloody TWW! 😂 thought I'd be more chilled out then this! Xxx

SaraVB · 10/06/2020 08:31

AF arrived last night. A little earlier than expected but just in time for the 2 days of public holidays this week. Going to enjoy a glass of wine and do some online shopping to cheer myself up!

Peach1204 · 10/06/2020 09:01

@SaraVB sorry to hear about AF. Enjoy your wine! 🍷 xxx

Poppyismyfavourite · 10/06/2020 13:58

Eugh the not knowing is killing me! I don't think my cycles were completely regular before (although as I said that's 10 yra ago now) but 34 days is odd...
Think I'll finish the box of pregnacare and order the seven seas tablets if it doesn't work this cycle!

TerryRose · 10/06/2020 14:24

Hi ladies,
Just a bit of background, we are trying for our first, I really thought it would happen straight away 😭😂 I'm struggling at the moment because my best friend got accidentally pregnant and now she is due at the time we thought we would be having our baby , it's hard seeing her going to the shops that I planned on going to etc , she's never even wanted kids really and smoked all her life and I hate myself for being so judgmental but it's hard when you have always wanted a baby and make healthy choices etc and it feels like everyone else seems to get pregnant at a drop of a hat. I'm just letting off steam here because I honestly feel like no one only us understands what it feels like. My period started yesterday so I guess that is making me more upset. Finally , does anyone else get annoyed at how FAST a pregnancy test tells you that you aren't pregnant, it's like nope not even a tiny chance 😂😭
Apologies I'm not trying to bring people down but this is just a safe space for a rant and I know I'll have better days it's just hard not to judge and feel hard done by but we will all get there ♥️

Daffodil21 · 10/06/2020 15:30

I'm so happy to be reading and seeing some bfps on this thread!

@Poppyismyfavourite I can't imagine how frustrated you must feel right now - I hope you get some answers soon!

@SaraVB sorry AF arrived. I hope you don't feel too down about it.

@Peach1204 you're doing well at not testing - hang on in there!

@AlisonLew15 that's a shame about the puppy, but probably the right call.

Welcome newcomers. @TerryRose this is the perfect place to let off steam. No one can really get what this feels like until you're in it. I hope you get your bfp soon, and I'm sorry you're having to watch your friend, that must be difficult to do.

@Summertime1992 oh no that sounds shit! Hope it buggers off soon!

As for me, I'm trying the SMEP this month, but I'm not sure how much longer I can keep doing this. DH and I have been having some serious discussions this week about our future. We're so fed up of living in limbo and he feels the same way as me about IVF. The two year clock will probably just keep re-setting itself for us, given our track history, and to be honest, having biological children isn't that important to me (or DH, as I have recently realised). I absolutely cannot live in this endless cycle of craziness. I almost went mad in the TWW last month. I was an absolute mess and just on edge the whole time, I even had to hold back tears while talking to my boss on the phone, for no actual reason. I cannot let myself get that crazy again. If any of you are feeling like that, please turn to this thread

Sarah1253 · 10/06/2020 16:55

I’m out :-( af has just arrived, right on time.
Turns out my super faint positive yesterday was incorrect - don’t buy the £3.50 Asda 2 pack cheapies ladies! X

Daffodil21 · 10/06/2020 17:24

Oh no @Sarah1253! So sorry to hear that! Hope you're ok Thanks

AlisonLew15 · 10/06/2020 17:32

@Sarah1253 sorry to hear that. Thanks for the heads up, will avoid those tests.

@Daffodil21 sorry you're having to have such difficult conversations but it is nice to hear that you and DH are on the same page regarding your options.

14DPO here today, still haven't tested. AF is due around now or potentially next week if my cycle is a bit off. We have decided that we are going to do a test on Saturday morning. I'm SHITTING myself!
Been suffering with migraine the past 2 days and also (tmi) diarrhoea. Crazy symptom spotting lady in me is out in full force

Bam27 · 10/06/2020 18:16

@Sarah1253 really sorry to hear that!
I also used the asda cheap 2 pack for £3.50 and my tests looked similar to yours. Weird though because I have used one before and got a clear negative.

Bam27 · 10/06/2020 18:23

@TerryRose my best friend is pregnant as well! Its really hard to watch somebody have the one thing you want, especially when you try so hard to be as healthy and ready for pregnancy as possible.

Dreaming101 · 10/06/2020 20:15

@Daffodil21 big hugs to you sweetie, it’s good you and your hubby can have these discussions and be on the same page.

@TerryRose i know how you feel, it sucks! My brother in laws girlfriend fell pregnant last year 3 months after meeting online. I cried and cried to my husband when I found out. I was happy to become an aunty of course but also the jealousy over took me! We weren’t even trying last year but were building up to it... and making sure we had our home and things. I felt like the worst person ever!

Dreaming101 · 10/06/2020 20:17

I’m now 29 days late.. still BFN...

AlisonLew15 · 10/06/2020 20:36

@TerryRose I totally get you. My sister is law is pregnant, she has her 20 week scan tomorrow. They told us about 2 months after I'd had treatment for my lengthy MMC. It was a rough couple of days processing it but I'm super excited to be an Aunty again! Hoping we will all have happy news of our own soon xx

Dreaming101 · 10/06/2020 22:11

@AlisonLew15 that must have been horrendous for you xxx
