Hi everyone,

Me and my husband have made the decision to try for a baby - we had a talk last month after I thought I might be pregnant (we weren't actively trying) and after 12 years together feel that now is the right time.

I'm feeling really excited and a little nervous - I know it may take a while and I just want to be as prepared as possible and be doing as many of the right things as I can.

What do people recommend for trying to get pregnant? Is anyone else in the same boat and would like to keep in touch/progress?

I'm due to finish AF in around 2 days and due to ovulate around 28th according to my tracker app - I've got folic acid and vitamin D arriving tomorrow that I can start taking, what else can I be doing to prepare as much as possible? I know it sounds silly, but do we just start 'trying' as soon as my period is over?

Look forward to speaking to you all soon!

Thanks,

Bee x

Morning all any testers coming up soon?

@Daffodil21 sorry to hear about AF 😥

@CEW19 your comment made me giggle 🤭

I'm on cycle day 10 and I usually ovulate between cycle day 12 - 14 I think (according to Flo anyway) and I'm getting cramps but have had basically no ewcm this month?? I'm so confused. Although last time I was pregnant at my scan it was dated back to cycle day 12 and then the sonographer told me that if that's right I would've ovulated around cycle day 6?? We've been dtd every day since cycle day 5 so if I do ovulate stupidly early hopefully we've caught it but surely I wouldn't have a 28 day cycle normally if I ovulate so early on? So confused and just wondering why I'm getting ovulation pains but no ewcm

AlisonLew15 · 05/06/2020 08:49

@Daffodil21 I feel your frustration. All the symptoms are just cruel and I'm starting to think that 'implantation bleeding' is a load of crap too. 9/10 posts I see it usually ends in AF.

Still in the TWW here🙄 @SaraVB I think it was us that were in sync if I remember? Are you holding out until AF or testing early?

CEW19 · 05/06/2020 09:17

Period due today for me and can feel it coming Sad was so sure this month. On to the next

Poppyismyfavourite · 05/06/2020 09:23

@MintGreenLife although I think I read that the sperm needs to be there waiting for the egg, so if you know when you have ovulated (LH tests?) you then just do one more and stop? If you read the "sperm meets egg plan" it might give you an idea

Poppyismyfavourite · 05/06/2020 09:24

@Daffodil21 I caved and tested this morning, and it was negative, but AF should arrive tomorrow. Does this mean I'm out or could it just be too early??

MintGreenLife · 05/06/2020 09:25

@Summertime1992 thanks so much for your reply ☺️ It's so hard to know what the right thing to do is sometimes isn't it, as don't want to do the wrong thing and negitiviely impact our chances. I think you're right though, will carry on DTD every other day ☺️

I'm being awful for symptom spotting when I promised myself I wouldn't - this is my first cycle and currently 6DPO xx

MintGreenLife · 05/06/2020 09:29

@Poppyismyfavourite this is my issue this cycle though as I'm not 100% sure I have ovulated, so I guess it's best to carry on a bit longer just in case, but maybe not be as strict as every other day. I've had two LH surges and no consistent temp rise so really not sure if I did ovulate. Although I only started temping half way through my cycle so that probably hasn't helped 😂

Daffodil21 · 05/06/2020 09:31

@AlisonLew15 I've had implantation bleeding before, otherwise I would be skeptical too! I got a positive test result 4 days after implantation bleeding, but I thought it was AF coming so 4 days later was the earliest I tested because that was when I first twigged! (Obv was not a successful pregnancy).

@Poppyismyfavourite depends how sensitive your test was and your HGC levels if are pregnant. What test did you use? Some people don't have enough HGC to get a positive result until after AF arrives so you're not out until it arrives! We are going to try the SMEP this month.

Welcome @TTCmiriclebaby have you been a member of mumsnet for less than 48 hours? It won't let you post a photo if so

M4v3r1ck · 05/06/2020 09:35

Hey ladies,

Sorry I've been quiet this week - crazy busy in work and it's my fertile window! 😉

Welcome to the newbies! Can't remember who knows, but I'm 35 and this is my first time TTC! Just had my mirena out a couple of weeks ago! Keeping it quiet so really glad to have you ladies with the same experience and to talk to! 😘 I'm still on the clueless side with everything, but folks here have been great and I'm learning loads! 😃

Just been finding out more about maternity leave in my work - so we're prepared - and OMG the finances are a shocker! Sounds like we're all pretty good planners though, so we'll make it work! I'm going to Excel spreadsheet the hell out of this! 😜😂

Sending lots of baby dust your way and happy Friday to everyone! 😘

TTCmiriclebaby · 05/06/2020 09:37

@TTCmiriclebaby

Hi ladies! I'm new to this and me and my partner have been ttc for about 5 months now but weve been using preseed this month and also tracking ovulation I would like your opinions on my ovulation tests to see if anyone thinks I peaked this month but I'm unsure on how to add a photo? Sending baby dust to you all 💕 C x
New to this Would love your advice 🤗
Twinkletwinkle2006 · 05/06/2020 09:37

Sorry to intrude everyone, but as you can see from my previous post me and my partner are TTC and yesterday was a high chance as I was ovulating, so we DTD and ive woke up this morning with awful period like pains and horrible back ache. Anyone got any idea why????

Poppyismyfavourite · 05/06/2020 09:42

@Twinkletwinkle2006 I think it'd be too early to be pregnancy related! Trouble with ttc seems to be that every tiny ache/twinge might be a symptom, where previously you'd have thought "oh I just slept funny". It sucks so you have my sympathy Smile

Daffodil21 · 05/06/2020 09:47

@Twinkletwinkle2006 this is going to sound absolutely ridiculous, and I don't want to get your hopes up or anything, but I am convinced I felt fertilisation (as if I haven't sounded like a crazy person enough on this this thread!) it wasn't as severe as you describe though, and I didn't have any back pain, but each person is different. I remember staying up until 3am reading up on it because I was convinced. Turned out I was pregnant (didn't last), and fertilisation would have been around the time I 'felt' it. I suppose it could be any number of things, could just be ovulation pains and maybe you're more aware of it now because you're TTC? But it doesn't sound like it's an ignorable pain though. I suppose time will tell. I hope your TWW doesn't drag on too much!!

Daffodil21 · 05/06/2020 09:48

Of course @Poppyismyfavourite is talking much more sense than I am @Twinkletwinkle2006 😂😂😂

Twinkletwinkle2006 · 05/06/2020 10:00

@Poppyismyfavourite @Daffodil21 I think I just honestly over think it too much, and they say the more you think about it the more it won’t happen :( I just can’t help but think about it haha. I just never had experienced that type of pain other than on my period haha I got a bit worried. Hopefully it happens this month I have my fingers crossed for everyone else on here aswell 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Poppyismyfavourite · 05/06/2020 10:11

@Twinkletwinkle2006 I wouldn't feel bad about it! It's very easy to say someone else is over thinking it but I've also been noticing every tiny sensation and driving myself crazy lately!

SaraVB · 05/06/2020 11:07

@AlisonLew15 Coincidentally I read an article yesterday that said that implantation bleeding was a myth and tests showed that many times it didn't actually happen at the time of implantation.

I've got 6 days to go until AF and not sure yet about the testing... definitely tempted but I don't want to test so early that I'd doubt the result. Supposedly they're quite accurate up to 6 days so quite tempted to do one over the weekend. What about you? How many DPO are you?

@Twinkletwinkle2006 I don't want to get your hopes up as it could be any number of things but my best friend is pregnant, about to pop this month and she said that the only symptom she had in the first month was period like cramps that started a couple of days after ovulation and went on for ages.

Peach1204 · 05/06/2020 11:19

Morning ladies. After a bit of advice please and apologies in advance if TMI. This morning I noticed my CM was a really light brown colour, I've just been again and it's now darker and thicker. Any ideas what this is? My last period was 20-24 May which was timed 28 days after my one in April (2 weeks before this I had what I assumed was my withdrawal bleed after coming off the pill at the end of March so I'm assuming everything has synced and periods are now normal). We have been DTD every other day (apart from three days in a row) since 25th May. Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? Xxx

AlisonLew15 · 05/06/2020 11:20

@SaraVB I'm 9DPO, I've got 2 apps with conflicting period due dates. One says the 9th and the other 15th so we'll see if I can hang on that long before testing! It came 5 days early last month and only lasted a day (I thought it was implantation bleeding) that's why I now think it's crap coz I don't want to get my hopes up again - I'd rather think negatively and be pleasantly surprised 😂

SaraVB · 05/06/2020 11:53

@AlisonLew15 Oh wow that's quite a difference between the 2 apps. From my extensive google searches hahhaa I read somewhere that normally you can get a positive test once implantation occurs and that's usually 8-9 DPO. I have 2 conflicting apps too but the difference is one says 11th and the other says 12th so it's pretty close.

Not sure why but I don't have high hopes this month at all, somehow I imagined it would feel a little different if you're actually pregnant. Anyway I'm going to try my best to convince myself to put off testing until at least Sunday, so I'd be about 10DPO. Ideally I'd like to wait until the 11th at least but not sure i'll be able to hold out that long.

Totally agree with you about thinking negatively and being pleasantly surprised! my gameplan since school exams! hahaha

Poppyismyfavourite · 05/06/2020 11:54

@AlisonLew15 I have 2 different dates too! so I'm 10-13 dpo apparently! It's my own fault really - was doing LH tests but then forgot / was out for 2 days and didn't do them.

AlisonLew15 · 05/06/2020 12:08

@Poppyismyfavourite @SaraVB on FLO I couldn't change my ovulation day but on OVIA I could so I'm predicting somewhere around the later date. I'm not expecting much from this cycle either, we've barely DTD and haven't done it at all this week (I feel like my sex drive has really dipped)

SaraVB · 05/06/2020 12:56

@AlisonLew15 I tried Flo for a few months but gave up and deleted it. Didn't find it reliable at all. Even other free apps were better at predicting my cycle. To be honest I was fed up after FW so we basically didn't DTD at all either after it passed. There's a good chance I may have ovulated later and missed it as I wasn't testing, just estimating ovulation based on the apps but at that point I was done! It's not much fun when you know that you have to do it.

SVC11 · 05/06/2020 13:13

@Peach1204 well you're 2 weeks after your last period so may have ovulated.. The dark colour maybe implantation bleed but see above for discussion on whether we think thats a real thing lol. You're prob in your two week wait now... If you don't come on your period again in 2 weeks do a test and see if you get a bfp! Exciting! X

Peach1204 · 05/06/2020 13:45

@SVC11 thank you so much for your response. I'm so new to this I don't know what to think about implantation bleed! 🤯 guess I've got a couple more weeks to wait and see 🤞🏻 I'm airing more on not happening as we are so new to this. Xxx
