Hi everyone,

Me and my husband have made the decision to try for a baby - we had a talk last month after I thought I might be pregnant (we weren't actively trying) and after 12 years together feel that now is the right time.

I'm feeling really excited and a little nervous - I know it may take a while and I just want to be as prepared as possible and be doing as many of the right things as I can.

What do people recommend for trying to get pregnant? Is anyone else in the same boat and would like to keep in touch/progress?

I'm due to finish AF in around 2 days and due to ovulate around 28th according to my tracker app - I've got folic acid and vitamin D arriving tomorrow that I can start taking, what else can I be doing to prepare as much as possible? I know it sounds silly, but do we just start 'trying' as soon as my period is over?

Look forward to speaking to you all soon!

Thanks,

Bee x

Hmm @MintGreenLife is the bottom line LH?? If so that's a pretty clear spike.
I'm by no means an expert but it seems to me that bbt is pretty variable. So on average it's quite useful but difficult to see much from individual measurements.

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 11:16

Thanks so much for your reply ☺️ Yep that's right, bottom line is LH. That's good to know as it has been worrying me, kind of making me wonder why I started! I think I'll assume I ovulated the day after my LH surge and that I'm currently 4DPO, but will keep using OPKs to check I don't get a second surge in case I didn't actually ovulate first time around. How are you getting on? X

MintGreenLife · 03/06/2020 11:16

@Poppyismyfavourite message for you above x

nervousnoob · 03/06/2020 14:24

So June will be our second month of 'trying'. I have only been using apps to calculate my fertile period (and not mucus or BBT) Last month I guess the timing didn't work, but my period was late by 8 days (the cruel irony!) I totally blame it on the stress of first time. I am due to turn 33 in 10 days, and I keep feeling maybe we postponed it too late :(

SaraVB · 03/06/2020 14:28

Hi @nervousnoob I turned 33 in Feb as well and I think it's a normal thought to cross your mind. I'm just trying my best not to worry too much and think about possible issues before there's any need.

Im in almost exactly the same situation as well, second month TTC, didn't work last month and AF was a few days late. This month we made a bit more of an effort during FW but we only used apps as well so far. Keeping my fingers crossed for us both!

AlisonLew15 · 03/06/2020 18:37

@nervousnoob @SaraVB I'm also 33 and on second month of trying. Used OPKs this month. My app says I'm due to test in 5 days but I've promised myself I'm going to wait until AF.
I feel the right age to be trying now, we got married last year and have a lovely home. My husband has two boys from a previous relationship, they are 13 & 11. We have a great relationship with them and have them around 3 or 4 days a week. I do worry though that my body is older than I feel and what problems we might have to face. Just going to ride it out!

nervousnoob · 03/06/2020 18:57

Thank you @SaraVB and @AlisonLew15 , I feel less anxious now. Alison your experience with teens early on is such a great bonus!

Waiting for AF to leave.. My fertile week happens to fall around my 33rd birthday Blush But i won't keep any high hopes. It's only our second month trying.

LennyAndToots · 03/06/2020 20:08

I was literally just talking to my friend saying who knew it was so hard to get pregnant? She was surprised saying that doesn't make sense... as everyone seems to try so hard not to get pregnant 😂.

I'm 31 now and I just feel like mentally we are all at the right age but we don't know what's going on in our bodies... all I know is I have period pain now, due AF tomorrow I have the negative pregnancy tests to prove it!

We were talking yday about feeling a pang of jealousy of people appearing to get pregnant easily. I've just gone on my insta and seen a pregnancy announcement on a house account I follow. Very happy for them ... and also have the pang of jealousy!

Hello!

First time poster here!
Hope you don’t mind me joining? Would love to speak to other people TTC for the first time!.
Me and my husband have also decided it’s the right time for us to start trying.
I’ve been on the pill for around 19 years? After having an unexpected 9 day period, we had a discussion for me to come off it and did straight away. I then immediately downloaded a tracking app and the following week bought the seven seas, trying for a baby pills and have been taking them religiously everyday.
The app predicted correctly I would start my period yesterday, but this is much lighter than I expected? I’m hoping this is still a good sign that that my body is already adjusting to its normal cycle before I started taking the pill?.
Just wondered if anyone has any experiences of coming off the pill and TTC? Also any tips welcome!

Now we’ve start the process I’m excited to catch on, and hoping it doesn’t take long.

Good luck everyone!

Thank you in advance.
VictoriaF3

SVC11 · 03/06/2020 21:23

Hey @victoriaf3 First timer over here too... About 2 weeks off the pill now. after you come off the pill you usually have a withdrawal bleed which isn't your normal period. Then the next bleed after that is considered to be your normal period. If your cycle is 28 days you will ovulate 14 days after your period started. So maybe your lighter bleed was your first proper period after coming off the pill. That would be good! I have been using cheap ovulation sticks which tell you when you are about to ovulate and show you your most fertile days. As I haven't had a period yet this is the pretty much the only way I am going to know if I'm ovulating. It can take months to ovulate after coming off the pill... But fingers crossed it doesn't take that long for us.... Sounds like your body is adjusting well! X

VictoriaF3 · 03/06/2020 21:37

Hi @SVC11? Hope that tags you! Still getting used to this!.

Thank you for replying to me so quickly.
It’s lovely to speak to someone in the same boat. I’ve not told any family or friends that we’re trying, so it’s just good to speak to someone.

I had researched about the withdrawal bleed? And presumed that’s what it was, so it’s nice to see someone else say the same.

I hope it does mean it’s adjusting well? Fingers crossed. My periods were always very regular, to the day, before I started the pill, but with me being on the pill for so many years, I was worried how long it would take for it to get out my system and resume back to normal.
Is this a good sign that I will be ovulating this month after my withdrawal bleed? Or no way of telling (sorry if this is a silly question!). I know you mentioned above it can take months for you to ovulate after the pill?.

Would you recommend the ovulation tests? I have seen people mentioned them and didn’t know if it was worth looking into?.

I hope it doesn’t take us long like you said! Good luck in your journey! Hope you catch on quickly! X

SVC11 · 03/06/2020 21:59

Haha I was just scrolling as you posted 😊 I do recommend them as I want to get to grips with what my body is doing... Although... That's not a lot right now it seems 😂 I had a withdrawal bleed but nothing else yet!... And I also want to try and catch as many eggs as I can, even the first one! X

VictoriaF3 · 03/06/2020 22:05

That was good timing then 😂.

I’ll have to look at investing in some of them then. Thank you!

Thank you again for your advice and information! Let me know how you get on 😃 X

Daffodil21 · 04/06/2020 11:16

AF pretty much here now, after 4 days of fucking with me. What a joke. Spotting/ light on and off bleeding for 4 days before expected. So fucking annoyed. This is first time it's ever arrived before Flo predicted too, and I used an OPK. Maybe I didn't start testing early enough - didn't plan to use them this month and then decided to but maybe it was too late by then. Just spent another £40 on fertility shite which clearly isn't helping. And that was with the cheaper CB 2 day ovulation lots, not the 4 day. Off to buy wine later and will try and keep it in the fridge until tomorrow night. Better catch up on some work first as spent half the fucking week googling non existing implantation bleeding etc. Fuck sake.

How is everyone else doing? Anyone cave and test early? I think I'm going to give up with that for a while. So fed up of peeing on things!!!!

Welcome newcomers. I promise I'm not always this grumpy!

CEW19 · 04/06/2020 11:30

@Daffodil21 I hear you on all counts. Spend the TWW procrastinating on here and googling everything rather than doing any actual work! Also fed up of buying shit that clearly isn't working when other people just get pregnant looking at a penis.

SaraVB · 04/06/2020 12:24

@Daffodil21 I've still got a week to go until AF... I think i'm starting to feel some minor AF symptoms which is pretty normal for me at this time which makes me think that there's little hope of this being my lucky month. Definitely will be joining you on that wine if AF shows up. We have a 2 day holiday in the middle of next week just when AF is due.

Still haven't tested this cycle, I think it's too early anyway but not sure I'll be able to wait much longer

Poppyismyfavourite · 04/06/2020 13:22

@CEW19 that made me laugh!

I'm due Saturday but thinking I might test tomorrow morning - one day early is OK right??

Welcome new people! I'm not sure any of us really knows what we're doing but at least we're all in the same boat. I'm finding it really weird that nobody knows what we're going through right now!

Poppyismyfavourite · 04/06/2020 13:23

@Daffodil21 she's toying with you! Heartless cow!

Daffodil21 · 04/06/2020 13:51

@Poppyismyfavourite I know. So pissed. I thought I had until Saturday too. Although it put me out of my misery sooner so I suppose I am thankful for that. Good luck to you! One day early is pretty good going! I've decided I'm not going to test at all next month though, I caved too early this month so I'm going to get my husband to hide all the tests I have and not test until 14 dpo.

@SaraVB oh noo. I hope they turn out to be pg symptoms and not AF ones!!

@CEW19 I feel you. Sick of all this shite! Not sure how much longer I can keep doing this tbh. We have talked about adoption and that is still very much a possibility

Twinkletwinkle2006 · 04/06/2020 20:08

Hi Everyone,

Sorry to jump on the post, I just wanted some advice me and my partner have been TTC for around 5 months now. due to a previous illness my partner has been told he as a low sperm count and we are currently using Fertility Plus things to help but every month is a BFN and it’s starting to get us down !

Can anyone help or give us some tips ????

Thankyou

Daffodil21 · 04/06/2020 20:28

Hi @Twinkletwinkle2006 is your husband taking any supplements? (What's fertility plus?) My DH Is taking the Proceive Men powder which you mix with water. I'm not sure if it helps with sperm count but it helps with morphology so might be worth looking into. My DH had a count of 1.5% before taking the supplements and now it's up to 3% (still low, but improved at least!). Although I've been TTC for 18 months with no successful pregnancy so what do I know!!

Daffodil21 · 04/06/2020 20:29

Sorry, I mean DP, not DH - that will teach me not to read quickly!

MintGreenLife · 04/06/2020 20:33

Hey everyone ☺️

Just wondering if I could get your opinion on this... OH (other half) and I are aiming to DTD (doing the deed) everyother day. Do you generally just DTD (doing the deed) up to ovulation and then have a break afterwards? Because I'm not 100% sure I've ovulated - I've had two LH surges spread 5 days apart and my BBT chart is a bit all over the place, we are still DTD (doing the deed) to be on the safe side, although if I did ovulate at my peak LH that makes me now 5DPO. Reason I ask is because I've read about a study that showed women who abstained from sex after ovulation were less likely to miscarry, although a similar smaller study proved the opposite, so seems kind of inconclusive. I think if I were 100% sure I had ovulated I might avoid it to be on the safe side, but was just wondering what everyone else does/thinks? Xx

Summertime1992 · 04/06/2020 21:14

@MintGreenLife I would just DTD every other day throughout the cycle so you know you cant have missed it, I think the information generally is it is safe to have sex throughout all of pregnancy.

I have had my Ovulation as per app 3 days ago, CM has gone from egg white to abundantly watery which is a little unusual and I am getting period like cramps this evening mild but noticeable but too early for implantation so just odd symptoms, probably my head playing tricks on me.

TTCmiriclebaby · 05/06/2020 08:13

Hi ladies! I'm new to this and me and my partner have been ttc for about 5 months now but weve been using preseed this month and also tracking ovulation I would like your opinions on my ovulation tests to see if anyone thinks I peaked this month but I'm unsure on how to add a photo?
Sending baby dust to you all 💕
