Hi everyone,

Me and my husband have made the decision to try for a baby - we had a talk last month after I thought I might be pregnant (we weren't actively trying) and after 12 years together feel that now is the right time.

I'm feeling really excited and a little nervous - I know it may take a while and I just want to be as prepared as possible and be doing as many of the right things as I can.

What do people recommend for trying to get pregnant? Is anyone else in the same boat and would like to keep in touch/progress?

I'm due to finish AF in around 2 days and due to ovulate around 28th according to my tracker app - I've got folic acid and vitamin D arriving tomorrow that I can start taking, what else can I be doing to prepare as much as possible? I know it sounds silly, but do we just start 'trying' as soon as my period is over?

Look forward to speaking to you all soon!

Thanks,

Bee x

@Peach1204 antibiotics for a bit yeah. I was thinking that I might have a fake hangover too so I'm too hungover to drink the next day haha.

Peach1204 · 26/05/2020 10:50

@LennyAndToots yes! That's a good one to use! To continue with it you could say on other occasions you had the worst hangover you've ever had and it's put you off alcohol for a while. Xxx

SaraVB · 26/05/2020 11:08

@LennyAndToots and @Peach1204 - You could probably get away with saying that youre on a diet... a friend of mine kept ordering alcoholic drinks but having her OH drink them for her haha

Peach1204 · 26/05/2020 11:25

@SaraVB that will also work! I am actually trying to lose a few lbs so that would be easy to maintain. Xxx

SK2970 · 26/05/2020 11:53

@Rocky89 so sorry about your AF arriving!! Glad to see that you seeing the positives though!! Good things happen to those who wait!
I want a lose a few lbs but now waiting until know - only 6 days to go!! I’m really nauseous today and got butterflies in tummy - sure it’s all in the mind or just the heat getting to me haha tried swapping to decaf coffee yesterday and had the worst headache all day! So going to try limit it to one proper one in the morning and decaf for rest of day! Hoping that it works!

HJen22 · 26/05/2020 13:39

Oh I know, it's like as soon as you say you aren't drinking people assume you're pregnant! I stopped completely for a month or two after a bad hangover in February and haven't really gotten back into it, which is a good thing! I like the odd beer when it's sunny but I'm just not fussed. So I'm hoping cos a lot of my friends and family know I've not really been drinking, when I am PG it won't be that obvious 🤞🏻

SK2970 · 26/05/2020 13:42

@HJen22 hopefully lockdown should help keep it a secret! I love the idea of having a secret just me and DH! But know as soon as pregnant that I will want to share it with my mum but i plan to keep it quiet as long as possible, id like to surprise her with scan photo but know it’s unlikely! Just got to get pregnant first!!

HJen22 · 26/05/2020 13:46

@SK2970 same! My OH knows I'll be dying to tell! But at the same time would be nice having a little secret. I keep imagining how happy my sister will be, she has 2 boys who I adore and she can't wait to be an auntie! Just hope it's soon! It's crazy, I had no idea about ovulation or anything until last month, no one tells you anything about any of this!

Peach1204 · 26/05/2020 14:01

I want to keep it a secret too but I don't know if I'll be able too. Does sound nice just having the 2 of you knowing what's happening though!

Coincidentally this popped up on social media. You'll guess which I am! 😂😐

SaraVB · 26/05/2020 14:08

@SK2970 I had the same when I started cutting down on caffeine. Thankfully it passes after a few days. Managed to switch to decaf completely now.

@Peach1204 I'd love to keep it a secret for a while and since I parents are far away and I can't tell them in person I'm trying to think of some kind of surprise way to announce it once I'm actually pregnant... I was thinking of sending them grandma and grandpa mugs and asking them to open the package on the phone. At this point not sure when a visit will be possible!

Poppyismyfavourite · 26/05/2020 14:26

My plan is to be the designated driver for a few weeks! "oh sorry just orange juice for me, I'm driving!"
I'm really struggling with the lack of caffeine - I previously drank at least 6 cups of tea a day! I'm now on 2 proper, and lots of decaff but it's not really hitting the spot! :(

Hi everyone.

Me and DH, both 27, are just starting to TTC.

I was one the mini pill for almost a year after having my implant removed. Took last pill one Sunday and I have already gone insane.

I think my problem is we decided to TTC once I had finished the batch I was on so since March I have gradually been researching more and more. We got married 29 February so honeymoon was cancelled and I have had nothing to focus on other than this. Work has been rather dull while working from home.

Reading what everyone has to say on various threads has calm me down a bit though as everone is going through the same things.

Peach1204 · 26/05/2020 14:35

@SaraVB that's a great idea! I'm hoping to be able to tie it in with a special occasion. Xxx

@Poppyismyfavourite designated driver makes it easier! I normally am and once you have done it a couple of times people assume you are so they won't take notice.xxx

Smushty14 · 26/05/2020 14:36

Does anyone have any symptoms? Just below my belly button feels really tender and I'm not sure if it's related or not Confused

Daffodil21 · 26/05/2020 14:38

@Smushty14 where are you in your cycle?

No symptoms here 😒

Poppyismyfavourite · 26/05/2020 14:40

@Smushty14 literally every suggestion I read /hear makes me imagine I feel that symptom! So reading a list I feel them all in turn! - and reading your post I got a twinge lol!
Sorry that's not actually helpful... I've had loads of "symptoms" but they might all be in my head!

Smushty14 · 26/05/2020 14:46

@Poppyismyfavourite Haha I know that exact feeling!!! I had a headache the other week and got excited as I thought it was a sign and then realised it was because I hadn't drunk enough... DOH!!!!

@Daffodil21
I haven't been properly tracking this month but believe I have ovulated in the last week. Clear stretchy CM with a small amount of blood in it which may be implantation but who knows!

Daffodil21 · 26/05/2020 14:56

@Smushty14 fingers crossed then! How long have you been trying? Every month I think I have symptoms and every month I'm wrong!!

Summertime1992 · 26/05/2020 16:00

@Trayhorn2407 Welcome sorry your honeymoon was cancelled, good luck with your TTC journey.

Im still early into my cycle so no symptoms but I am soo tired today which I think is a mix of lack of caffine and work being so dull right now.

I think I'll be the worst for symptom spotting in the 2WW as I do tend to get tender breast, headache and other symptoms before periods anyway and I wont know if it is period symptoms or pregnancy.

HJen22 · 26/05/2020 16:46

@Smushty14 @Poppyismyfavourite it's so hard with symptoms isn't it, I was the same right before my period, and it had been so long since I'd had a proper one I'd forgotten what to expect (and didn't really have any symptoms before the withdrawal bleed), I was also googling and convinced I had every symptom possible!

Hi @Trayhorn2407 wishing you lots of luck on your journey!

SaraVB · 26/05/2020 16:52

Hi @Trayhorn2407 welcome to the thread. Don't worry I think it's pretty normal to get a little crazy... sorry to hear about your honeymoon.. I hope it's just postponed and you'll enjoy a nice trip somewhere soon to make up for it.

I'm just about to start the TWW and I'm dreading it. Really hoping I can remain calm this time although I doubt it. Lessons learned last month are that symptoms should be ignored and testing too early is a waste of time and money 😂

Daffodil21 · 26/05/2020 17:08

@Summertime1992 I just woke up from a nap because I was really tired too so I didn't fight it. My husband is now snoring on the sofa next to me so pretty sure it wasn't a symptom 😂

Welcome @Trayhorn2407, sorry to hear about your honeymoon!

Mrskcam · 26/05/2020 19:29

Can someone help please; I've been trying to get to grips with tracking my cervix (still clueless) I'm due af today but she hasn't arrived as of yet but I have cramps so I know she's coming but when I just felt my cervix is quite high up and hard but there was a little bit of brown tinted mucus, not necessarily blood but mucus with a bit of blood? Is this a good sign af is coming soon as I just wanna get on to my next cycle so we can try properly ... just confused as I thought cervix was low during mensuration and I have heard brown blood is old blood? So confused 🤷🏼‍♀️

AlisonLew15 · 26/05/2020 19:53

@Trayhorn2407 welcome! Sorry about your honeymoon too. It’s my first wedding anniversary on 1st June and we’ve had our plans cancelled as well. So disappointing.

I symptom spotted like a lunatic last cycle! Was convinced I had an implantation bleed and took a test early. I’m going to try so hard not to make the same mistake this month.

DTD this morning after flashy smiley, got a feeling DH is going to let me down this cycle. I can sense the frustration already 🙄

M4v3r1ck · 26/05/2020 20:35

Hey ladies,

Welcome to the newcomers! 😃

Sorry to those that had AF! 🤞🏻for lots of BFPs soon! 😘

Oh gawd, I love soft cheese and cured meat so much! Will definitely miss those. Is it just sushi; what about other fish? I've not cut down my caffeine yet... 🙈🙈🙈 will seriously struggle with that!

That's me coming to the end of AF now, so will be starting my first cycle! 🤞🏻
