Hi everyone,

Me and my husband have made the decision to try for a baby - we had a talk last month after I thought I might be pregnant (we weren't actively trying) and after 12 years together feel that now is the right time.

I'm feeling really excited and a little nervous - I know it may take a while and I just want to be as prepared as possible and be doing as many of the right things as I can.

What do people recommend for trying to get pregnant? Is anyone else in the same boat and would like to keep in touch/progress?

I'm due to finish AF in around 2 days and due to ovulate around 28th according to my tracker app - I've got folic acid and vitamin D arriving tomorrow that I can start taking, what else can I be doing to prepare as much as possible? I know it sounds silly, but do we just start 'trying' as soon as my period is over?

Look forward to speaking to you all soon!

Thanks,

Bee x

@Peach1204 Am doing it every other day but am the only one working he has been furlough on full pay so would be up to it anytime at the minute.

I must say I am struggling with the reduction in Caffeine, Its hard to get through the day without it. Im having one drink a day currently.

I have had to tell my partner off as well about hot baths, I think he thinks I have lost my mind.

Peach1204 · 25/05/2020 20:32

@HJen22 I'm on my second decaf tea and haven't really noticed any difference tbh. I'm not a coffee fan but hope it's the same when you come to try it. Xxx

Daffodil21 · 25/05/2020 20:38

@HJen22 you can get decaf green tea too

Mrskcam · 25/05/2020 20:39

Hi all, hope it's okay if I join.

I'm 21 and was supposed to be getting married in the Caribbean this November but we are going to postpone to 2022.

We had a miscarriage last August at 10 weeks which was very traumatic and I ended up hospitalised for 3 days. We weren't trying but ever since then having a baby is something we both really want but hadn't started actively trying as it wouldn't have fit in with the wedding. I'm due to come on my period tomorrow and then we will start trying this cycle.

I hope everyone gets their gorgeous baby's soon xx

HJen22 · 25/05/2020 20:42

@Peach1204 thanks, I will def get decaf and give it a try! Sure it's just as good! I could manage with just the morning one I'm sure, just into the routine of a 3pm coffee. Working from home they were becoming more frequent just to get away from the desk for a walk downstairs!

@Summertime1992 haha I'm trying my best to not mention my OH cutting down the beers! He could be a lot worse and its a tough time just now, but I've hardly drank the last few months even before lockdown so good prep!

Peach1204 · 25/05/2020 20:49

Hi @Mrskcam - sorry to hear about your loss and postponed wedding. Fingers crossed for you. Xxx

@HJen22 I found I wasn't drinking much water but loads of teas so trying to adjust that and making it the other way round. I'll take any tips and try anything which helps with having a little peach 🍑 xxx

HJen22 · 25/05/2020 20:53

Hi @Mrskcam so sorry about your wedding and your loss, sending you lots of luck to come x

@Peach1204 yeah I drink a lot of water already, drinking tea and coffee was helping to pass the time working from home haha! But yeah agree anything to help with baby making is worth it!

Mrskcam · 25/05/2020 20:53

Jumping in about the caffeine and such .. not sure when you guys would tell others when you do get pregnant but another good reason to cut down caffeine is so people don't guess straight away. Last time everyone clocked straight away as I was a HUGE coffee drinker (maybe had a part to play in losing the baby as I drank so much before knowing I was pregnant) so when I stopped drinking it because I found out everyone was like "omg are you pregnant!?" This time I can confidently say I'm just cutting the caffeine to be healthy and that way hopefully people won't figure it out straight away (when the time comes)

Summertime1992 · 25/05/2020 21:01

@Mrskcam Welcome and sorry to here about your loss, best wishes with your journey this month :).

@HJen22 Yer I don't drink and Partner only drinks when out with friends which is not often so thats okay, Am more worried about all the hot baths he likes to have Lol.

I drink Caffeine drinks mainly for the energy so it will be harder to change to decaf particularly because works is a bit boring at the moment I need all the help I can get to get through the day.

Peach1204 · 25/05/2020 21:02

@HJen22 I know why you mean about being at home - although I've been spending too much time in the fridge! 😂

@Mrskcam great advice. I'm hoping to keep it quiet for as long as possible (I'm not keen on announcing at 12 weeks even after the scan - I'm a bit of a stresser) and unfortunately I could quite easily hide a pregnancy for a while 🐳 any other tips?

Xxx

Mrskcam · 25/05/2020 21:02

@Summertime1992 I'm with you on that one with the hot baths, my partner is obsessed with them!

Mrskcam · 25/05/2020 21:04

@Peach1204 depending on all this lockdown and social distancing, you never know it could be easier to hide for a while 😂 I'm the same, this time round we are not telling anyone until we absolutely can't get away with it anymore! Hopefully by the time we are pregnant and starting to show it will be back to winter so lots of jumpers to hide under

Peach1204 · 25/05/2020 21:08

@Mrskcam especially if I keep going to the fridge! 🐷 good point about winter coming! That would make it easier! Xxx

HJen22 · 25/05/2020 21:09

@Peach1204 same, fridge and cupboard are never closed for long! I'm glad AF is done as my chocolate cravings have gone thankfully! Although that and eating chocolate has caused havoc with my skin!

@Mrskcam good tip! I already had people asking me back in March if I was pregnant because I drove to a night out!

@Summertime1992 I'm the same, Sometimes I just drink coffee out of boredom so it's def a good idea for me to cut down to minimum whilst no one notices!

Summertime1992 · 25/05/2020 21:09

I am hoping to keep it secret until 12 weeks scan. I don't know if I will be able to hide it for more than that I wear a tight uniform for work that will be very obvious (as it is right now that I have been raiding the snack draw more in lockdown), and my mum knows we are hoping for a baby this year and keeps asking me so I have no hope really.

Mrskcam · 25/05/2020 21:10

What part of your cycle is everyone on? I'm quite excited as I'm due on my period so have a few more days to gather tips and stuff 😂 is that silly? 😂😂

Summertime1992 · 25/05/2020 21:26

@Mrskcam I'm on cycle day 5 of a usually 26 day cycle finished period on Saturday night/ Sunday morning.

HJen22 · 25/05/2020 21:35

@Mrskcam I'm on CD4 after a 3 day period (and withdrawal in April). Came off the pill end of March so this is I guess the first proper cycle for trying 😊 now I've got an app and aware of best days it feels like it's going to be a long wait to FW and then another long 2WW!

Peach1204 · 25/05/2020 21:42

@HJen22 AF - so kind isn't she?! Xxx

@Summertime1992 I've put so much weight on in lockdown. I have a uniform but don't necessarily have to wear it so currently trying to buy more clothes so I'm comfy and not say in tight uniform 😔 xxx

@Mrskcam currently on CD6, period finished yesterday. Came off the pill at the end of March, went straight on to seven seas trying for a baby. Had a withdrawal bleed then both my periods since then have been in sync (28 days apart) xxx

Mrskcam · 25/05/2020 21:55

@Peach1204 I'm just starting on the seven seas trying for a baby vitamins, I've heard great things about them!

HJen22 · 25/05/2020 22:04

Which seven seas do you ladies take? When I've searched two different types are coming up? One that says with vitamins and minerals and another that says 1 - Pre-conception x

AlisonLew15 · 25/05/2020 22:11

I’m on the seven seas too. I think im cycle day 10. Had my first flashing smiley on opk this morning 🙌🏻
Any views on Herbalife plan and TTC? I’ve been doing it on and off since my wedding last year and I love the routine of my shakes. I’d rather not give them up just yet.

Mrskcam · 25/05/2020 22:12

@HJen22 I got this one
