AF arrived today - Testing end of May / early June buddies

Thought I’d make a thread for anyone who may be having a visit from AF currently and be testing similar time to me.

I’m 29, boyfriend is 27
TTC baby number 1, cycle 2 (ish.. we half tried last month but didn’t track anything!)
Trying SMEP this month
AF came today and is due 30th May

If everyone is on a similar date and wants to support each other then feel free to jump on 🙋🏼‍♀️☀️❤️

@Bettysoreboobs We’re going to try and be as relaxed as possible about it for a few months, I’m normally a planner and like to be organised so trying to hold off with ovulation testing etc is hard 🙈

@mumoftwobeauts Glad it’s not just me! I’m a bit scared of pregnancy and giving birth so I think I’m more nervous about the possibility of being pregnant (the idea of feeling a baby moving inside me weirds me out a bit tbh) than parenting if that makes sense?

I wish I could have gotten the 4 day CB tests at the shops but they were all out so instead of seeing flashing smileys, I'm seeing blank circles! I know you are both right and I will likely ovulate in the next few days, but it's just so hard waiting. I did have 2 days of EWCM around days 12 and 13 which has thinned out to be more watery. Hopefully it's still the right consistency to help the sperm travel to the egg - whenever that egg is released!! Thanks again for your replies x

How stringent is everyone with with the OPK testing guidelines. Do you test in the afternoon/evening after holding a wee for 3-4 hours and not consuming too much liquid? I only ask as I have been pretty relaxed about it and drinking water/tea as normal and not avoiding using the toilet for a few hrs prior to OPK testing. I'm wondering if I should follow the recommendations more closely? What are your experiences?

@RiverRoo I try to follow the main guidlines. Don't use FMU, don't dilute with a lot of water drinking.

@RiverRoo They’re the CB I have been using and seeing the empty O really started to grind on me but then the smiley came! CB tests I have advised using FMU and that’s what I did and only once a day

@RiverRoo the last 2 cycles I have used the CB ovulation digital kit, & I test FMU & it's always been spot on so far xx

I usually use the easy@home ovulation tests and they're pretty good, I've always been able to get a clear LH surge. But this time I was doing a monitored cycle so I had blood tests to check my estradiol levels and at the same time I used the Clearblue Advanced OPKs just for fun and the flashing smileys definitely coincided with me estrogen surge. I saw EWCM the day after my first flashing smiley. I didn't test all the way to peak because after three days of flashing smileys I took Ovitrelle to trigger my ovulation artificially.

TTC for ... forever -PCOS.
Recently been put on metformin which seems to be giving me regular cycles.

@riverroo it was my first month using OPK and I generally tested around 4:30pm although I tested at 8pm also when I thought I was nearing my peak. I'm used to drinking a lot of water, and I can never hold my pee for 3-4 hours so I found those parts pretty difficult! I generally stopped drinking around 1pm, would go for our walk at 2pm for an hour/hour and a half and then test at 4:30 as it was the best I could do in terms of liquids 😂 I never got the really dark surge and that might have been why.

I'm trying so hard not to test with a FRER right now. I'm only 8DPO so am sure it'll be a BFN either way. I just don't feel pg. Last time, I kind of knew... crampy, windy, knackered. This month, I feel like normal, with the exception of a constant dull cramp. It feels a mild version of when AF is on the way, but I only usually cramp they day she arrives.

Mind if I join. AF due 27th May. Currently 9dpo. Already caved and got a bfn. Good luck ladies xxx

@jazzibelle I’m 7dpo and stupidly did a test this morning it was a BFN. I knew last time too! I just felt different. I don’t feel PG this month either. It’s put me in a really bad mood 😒 feeling really miserable. Just want AF to come now and get it over and done with 😩

@Sallyjo27 I caved and did one too, it was a BFN which I expected of course. I think I may have ovulated 2 days later than my OPK led me to believe, which means we’re 100% out of that’s the case. AF due in 6 days, going to hang on until Sat if possible.

Sounds like we’re in the same boat!

Hey ladies, can I join? AF due anytime between 25th-27th May. I’m 9DPO, waiting to test but hoping I can hold out until at least Saturday. Does anyone temp and chart OPK’s?

Updated for newbies .. my app has randomly changed my date so I’ve updated! We all know I’ll do a FRER before because I have absolutely ZERO self control

This TWW is going to be sooooo long for me because I can't test early due to my trigger shot. In fact, even if I get a positive on 1st June I won't be 100% certain that it isn't still the trigger shot until I get a second blood test on 3rd June. It's going to be such a long wait.

@peperethecat we were trying for 2 years when I fell pregnant in December and had a MMC in February and a chemical in March, This month is the first month I’ve had a “normal” cycle so I know shouldn’t be getting upset.

@jazzibelle that’s what I’m worried about too! I had a static smilie on my clearblue ovulation test on the 12th so we DTD 3 times 😂 then on the 13th I had a positive on the internet cheapie ovulation test and we DTD once then and once the day after on the 14th. I’m worried if I did ovulate a few days after say the 16th then we’ve missed it x

Sorry for your losses @Sallyjo27. I've been trying for just over a year and had four early losses including a MMC in January. It's shit, isn't it?

This is my first ever Mumsnet post! I’m ttc baby 4! I suffered a mc in March (1st mc ever after 3 healthy pregnancies) I’ve had 1 af since and used clear blue ovulation tests this month, which showed up on the 10th. I think I’m due af on Friday but have only had one cycle since mc so I could be wrong. I’m feeling really positive about this month 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 Desperately trying not to test early. Xx
