AF arrived today - Testing end of May / early June buddies

Thought I’d make a thread for anyone who may be having a visit from AF currently and be testing similar time to me.

I’m 29, boyfriend is 27
TTC baby number 1, cycle 2 (ish.. we half tried last month but didn’t track anything!)
Trying SMEP this month
AF came today and is due 30th May

If everyone is on a similar date and wants to support each other then feel free to jump on 🙋🏼‍♀️☀️❤️

@Elking18 when did you last do an opk? It can change in a few hours so when you think you are approaching ovulation it csn be good to test a couple times a day so you dont miss your peak. What type of opk are you using? I cant speak for cb but i seem to get on using £land ones x

For some reason my pictures arent posting, sorry if all 3 posts do appear eventually. Trying it on the website rather than the app now! I'm testing fmu and 4pm using femometer strips. I thought I'd try a boots strip I had at the same time this afternoon to see if it was the strips. Here is the trend and a comparison of 2 tests taken at the same time. Let me know what you think!

@Elking18 which OPK are you using? And are you testing multiple times a day since hitting high fertility?

My first month of testing I missed the peak notification, but using the 4-day Digital DB OPKs I seem to hit peak every month - even though some months is a couple of days later than expected.

@Elking18 ahh didn't see your last message before posting. I know they're expensive, but try the digi ones if you can next month. The line ones (at least for me) do my head in.

I usually start testing on CD9, only once-a-day, using FMU until I get the flashing smiley. Then I test using FMU, SMU, Mid-afternoon and in the evening. I've been hitting Peak (static smiley) on/around CD16.

I'm trying tracking bbt too, and here is my graph, so no sign of having missed ovulation yet either. Am I right that my temp going down may be a sign I'm leading up to ovulation? My temp seems very low!

Is it normal to just have one day of a blank circle on the clear blue advanced digital? This is the first month I've used it but I was surprised to get the flashing smiley the second day. I've been using cheap OPKs too but they have been showing low, slightly higher this morning than the previous two days.

@Elking18 technically, a dip in temp happens right before ovulation I believe, but I think it's very slight. Are you using a normal thermometer or a BBT one?

TBH, I just use the digi OPKs as I work best with a straight yes/no situation :-)

@Lilyduke this has happened to me too, it just means you started testing close to your high fertility peak (and didn't waste too many tests). This cycle I only had 2 days of the blank circle before going straight into flashing smiley. It seems spot-on in terms of when I ovulate and when the fertile window begins, based on what the Clue app also predicts and what my body is telling me.

@jazzibelle I bought a bbt one, so goes to 2 decimal places

My bbt went up this morning, so maybe I ovulated yesterday? Still had no sign of an lh surge before the temp measurement.

Hiya 👋 going to follow this one as due 24th of May and in the two week wait...we weren’t supposed to be actively trying quite yet due to everything going on but managed to hit ovulation day bang on this month 😅 so we will see. We’re folllwing SMEP and ovulation testing from day 10 seems so early .. it’ll cost me a fortune if I have to do this long term (I’m using clear blue smiley as the others look too technical for me 🤣)

Cycle day 12 for me and no smiley yet but BD tonight anyway as per the plan!

Hi, also trying SMEP for the first time this month. Trying for baby number 2, conceived 1st baby on cycle 2, currently on cycle 7 and was not expecting it to take this long. The last 2 months I got a blank circle in the morning (CB Digital), but felt like I was ovulating so tested again on the same evening, and got a static smiley.

Since then I’ve been reading that ovulation hormones surge during the day so I’m wondering if I’m testing too early in the day (6am ish) even though CB says to use FMU.

@Littlebee1990 CD9 for me so started SMEP yesterday. I feel the same, I’m normally bang on day 14 for ovulation so feels painful to use my tests from day 10 but this is our first cycle trying it so want to do by the book. I ordered some cheapies from zoom baby so hoping that will make feel less painful!

@Slippingcareer oh that’s unusual, I’ve always heard not to test FMU as the surge happens during the morning so you risk missing and being 24 hours out. I used to test about 6pm after work but with wfh atm I’m going to try test at lunchtime as have heard that’s best time to catch surge

Hi everyone, thought I would join as it will be nice to be around the same timings as some other ladies.

I'm 31 and this is my second cycle since coming off the pill. I'm on cd11 and had flashing smiley today and yesterday so dtd every other day. Think I will ovulate on cd16 and probably test around 28th march if I can hold out! Fingers crossed this is our month!

@Elking18 sorry if you've already put this in a message, but are you also tracking your CM? Hopefully your LH surge is just too low to detect. Maybe ring your GP if you've had multiple months of no Peak detected x

@Littlebee1990 I'm with you on the CB digitals, I can't be doing with charting and all that stuff. Good luck this cycle! I'm officially 1DPO... just another 13 until AF is due and the tests come out!

@Slippingcareer I never got a smiley at all on the 2 day CB, so switched to the 4-day. I think I was testing on the totally wrong days with the 2-day and at the wrong times. With the 4 day, it's more expensive and I test more often, but once I hit the peak (I only test once a day with FMU until the flashing smiley) I test around 4 times a day. I've found my LH surge happens mid-late afternoon, and this time it was early evening. It's a lot easier to track IMO, and takes a lot of the stress out of it

I'm sure I read somewhere that it take a few hours passed the surge for it to appear in your urine.

@jazzibelle it’s actually the 4 day ones that I’m using. I have gotten the flashing smiley before but not in the last 2 months. I’ve gone straight from empty circle in the morning to static smiley in the evening.

@Slippingcareer oh wow, I wonder if it wasn't picking up your Estrogen. Congrats on the static, hope this your lucky cycle :-)

This is my first time properly tracking ovulation. The Premom app is registering all of my OPKs as low but to me the latest one I've done looks high? Do you think it's likely I will get my peak today? Thanks for any help!

@Lilyduke yes i would say so. Test again this afternoon if you can & hold your wee so its more concentrated till you do.
Strange that itnis registering it as low... Although it is not as dark as or darker than the control line, it is pretty close!

Next period is due 29th May - been TTC from 7th May (when I had my copper coil removed). First time trying, never knew there was so much to think about!!

CD 12 for me. The line on my OPK is definitely darker today although not the same as the control line so fingers crossed I get a peak in the next few days. We’re doing SMEP for the first time this month too!
