Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

Looks like everyone is well prepared for the tests then, glad those ones could be of help. I might buy some of those first response ones too as they seem really popular and accurate on here.
Welcome @KateColx 😊 I'd definitely recommend tracking the ovulation as mine was actually later than the app predicted. A few of us have been using the clear blue one that seems to be good. However, if you're in no rush just dtd every other day apparently suffices and you're likely to catch your ovulation that way

mrsgtobe97 · 07/04/2020 14:45

Hi everyone :) I think I'm about 4DPO or 5DPO, not entirely sure when I ovulated however I had really bad ov pains on Friday & Saturday. Completely went away Sunday and yesterday and today been noticing the odd twinge again. So hard to ignore all these signs!! Anyone been having any pains?

Gsr14 · 07/04/2020 16:03

@KateColx I used an app but when it came to Ovulation testing it was way off, might be easier to start testing just for piece of mind, you can get cheap ones off amazon (I use the one step brand which have been fine).

@Nic2908 @Natt99 @Gsr14

Thanks so much guys! I'm going to look into the ovulation tests on Amazon later. Are you following the ovulation timings quite closely and planning around them?

I hadn't really thought much about it all until I started googling and came across the Mumsnet threads, but I think I might just so I've got a bit of an idea around timings. I'm worried about getting obsessive over it all, I know what I'm like haha.

Gsr14 · 07/04/2020 17:12

@KateColx it’s really hard not to get obsessive over the ovulation tests, I was for a while but now not worrying about it as I think I’ve worked it out.
I did plan around my ovulation this month but tried to dtd every other day just incase, knowing when you are ovulating just means that at least you know for sure that you haven’t missed it :)

Hi all!

First cycle TTC here too! Been off the pill since Sept 19 but preventing until this month! My cycle has been pretty regular since then but never managed to catch my peak on OPK. My BBT has raised in line with ovulation each month though so that's positive!

Got my first strong positive OPK yesterday evening until lunchtime today, and it's dropped off now. We DTD Sunday night, yesterday night and this morning so I guess it's the 2WW now! My app seems to think I'll ovulate tomorrow. AF is due on the 21st April.

A terrifying, exciting waiting game! I'd love to get to know some people! We have recently moved house so I know no one haha. Xx

Natt99 · 07/04/2020 20:04

Sounds promising @mrsgtobe97 never noticed any pains myself. Do you record them in your app at all? In flo it let's you record notes which is quite interesting to look back on the cycles #geek lol
Welcome @MrsEmilyB good luck to you this cycle too. Hoping that when we do fall pregnant the NCT classes and baby groups are back open, don't know many people in my area either, although lived here for 3 years 😂 we've moved loads for job opportunities

mrsgtobe97 · 07/04/2020 20:06

@Natt99 yeah have been logging everything and even made a tab in my notes on my phone to record everything I've been feeling. Today I've been really off, really tired and didn't feel like eating anything until about 3pm today. Pains have gone, seem to just come and go 🙈 so strange.

MrsEmilyB · 07/04/2020 20:10

@Natt99 how is making friends as an adult so hard LOL?! I hope so too. I think a lot of people would call us mad doing it right now, but I've just turned 30 and don't really feel like we can wait a year if we want more than 1!

KateColx · 07/04/2020 20:25

@MrsEmilyB ah same as me, just turned 30 and felt like it was finally time to start! I feel for you on the knowing no one too, I moved to where my husband is from when we first met and I didn’t have any friends outside work for years.

Nice to speak to people going through the same things :)

KateColx · 07/04/2020 20:27

@Gsr14 ah thank you! I’m going to order some ovulation kits just to get an idea of where I’m at, but think I’ll stick with the every other day for now. Don’t want to score the OH too soon with a date schedule haha x

MrsEmilyB · 07/04/2020 20:31

@katecolx bloody Rona making things difficult! Yes, very similar - we've moved for his work, but now only live 25 mins from his parents, but 200 miles away from everyone I know! Hope things are good for you now x

Nic2908 · 08/04/2020 08:19

10 dpo and I'm dying to poas

Natt99 · 08/04/2020 08:51

@Nic2908 I think positives at day10 aren't unheard of but maybe hold out if you can, so you're not unnecessarily disappointed. I know the feeling, I'm 7/8po and also really want to test argh!

NJ2910 · 08/04/2020 08:55

@Nic2908 ahh I would be the same! I'm only 2DPO and already so impatient haha! Let us know if you do test :)

Busybird123 · 08/04/2020 09:04

Hi Lovely ladies would love to join !!! Could do with extra support TTC first child , age 34 hubby 36 - we started actively trying since Jan 19, could never get my head around the ov sticks as it brought more stress for me I thought, is it best to POAS morning or afternoon? I've had quite a few fertility tests done bloods , ultrasound scan, and a few weeks ago HSG test , and all test results were sent to consultant to review , but all clear so far..now just awaiting appt with consultant was due to see her April 20th but it got postponed with the coronavirus issue . Normal 27/ 28 day cycle but this month got a bleed at cd 19 which lasted 2 days. Not sure is it because its second cycle after HSG test or anything to do with reflexology (done 6 sessions finished up march 10th) No bleed since due period April 12th so will see. This TTC journey can be quite stressful and do funny things with our minds and bodies , mind yerselves xx

NJ2910 · 08/04/2020 09:50

Hi @Busybird123 👋 I think it depends on which ov sticks you are using but generally afternoon is better I think? Though I see that some people test three times a day when their surge is approaching - morning, lunch and afternoon. Good news about your test results being all clear so far! Can I ask about the reflexology? Is that something you did specifically for fertility? I've often wondered about giving it a go 😊

MrsEmilyB · 08/04/2020 10:27

Hi @Busybird123 Smile with OPKs I test once a day mid pm coming up to my anticipated fertile time. Once the lines start darkening I'll generally test 2-3 times a day - around midday, 4pm and 8pm. Sending baby dust!

KateColx · 08/04/2020 11:23

Morning,

@MrsEmilyB I absolutely love it here now, I've made lots of friends and wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I'm sure you'll settle in in no time :) Hopefully you'll meet lots of people at baby classes.

Have you guys started noticing / looking out for symptoms? I'm not sure if I've spent way too much time on here and I'm now just reading too much into everything but I think I'm around 11 DPO (based only on my app, hence a little uncertainty), and due on my period on Sunday 12th. Yesterday evening I had some sharp pains in my lower stomach area, and then last night had some bright pink/red spotting when wiping but nothing else, then this morning I've had a bit of a dull ache similar to period pains but nowhere near as bad, and then this morning also had like a dark red/brown type of discharge when wiping (sorry TMI!) but again nothing else since.

My periods are always spot on timings wise, and I very rarely spot before hand (if so it would be a day/night before).

I've been looking on here and there seem to be a few different suggestions, but don't know if I'm just wayyy overthinking it?

xx

Gsr14 · 08/04/2020 11:40

@KateColx that sounds promising for you, I’ve read up about early pregnancy symptoms and the things you describe seem to be hinting at the egg implanting. Are you going to wait for your period or do a test?

OP posts:
Natt99 · 08/04/2020 11:53

@KateColx agree. that does sound positive based on what I've read about implant bleeding, especially as the spotting is not usual for you. Exciting!
Spotting is so annoying though, last cycle I had it 7 days before AF (wtf) and others usually about 3 days. None so far this cycle so 🤞🏻

KateColx · 08/04/2020 12:00

@Gsr14 @Natt99 Thanks girls! I feel like I've spent hours reading about it all, so wasn't sure if I was just overthinking it or if it could possibly be implant bleeding.

The stomach pain does feel like it's getting a little worse though, so I'm not getting my hopes up just yet. I'm going to try and refrain from testing for a few days to see if my period does make an early appearance.

I genuinely didn't think I'd get caught up in it all, but yet here I am in month one of trying and I'm obsessed haha.

@Natt99 that's so annoying about your spotting, especially 7 days out! Fingers crossed for you this time round though!! Smile xx

NJ2910 · 08/04/2020 12:28

@KateColx I'm deffo no expert but as the other ladies say that does sound like it could potentially be implantation bleeding! Fingers crossed for you 😊!!

Feel like this week is the slowest week ever. Anyone else agree?

I am not going to speak for all of us here in regards to our own personal reasons and circumstances but I think it is a little unfair that you have targeted this thread when there are literally hundreds of threads on here of women trying to conceive. Completely appreciate you will have your own thoughts regarding this but it does seem a little odd to post such disparaging messages on this particular thread. I wish you all the best!
