Hi there,
I’m very new to mumsnet and in my first month of trying to conceive.
All the info out there is really overwhelming and just wanted to start a thread for the people in the same boat.

If I go off my opk dip I ovulated monday. So I am figuring I will wait 14 days which will be 13th. I have the FRER test too.

Hi @mrsgtobe97 I have been tracking my cycle for about a year using ovaview dip tests from amazon. Cheap and really good. Wider than usual dip opks so easier to read. This month as 1st TTC we used CB advanced digital and as great as it was to see a flashing smilie using two has really confused me!!

Lovebug06 · 02/04/2020 21:29

Hi can I join?
Ttc my first. I have come off the pill, had the first withdrawal bleed as normal, my period would be the 20th April however I know this may not happen after coming off the pill. I haven't done ovulation tests yet, I just wanted to relax and see how it goes for a bit. However I now am reading lots of threads and on websites and think I should, I really don't want to get obsessed though!
I could feel pains and a weird sensation which I now think must be ovulation pains. Also feeling sick on and off. I think that's ovulation too, although I don't remember as I've been on the pill so long. Now I feel things but I don't know if it's in my head and if I wasn't trying, if I'd notice, if that makes sense or if I'm watching for symptoms!
Really hope it happens for everyone soon!

Gsr14 · 02/04/2020 22:43

Hey, of course you can join in!
I thought the same thing and didn’t want to get obsessed either but it’s hard not to get wrapped up in it all when there isn’t a lot else going on with everyone being stuck inside!

When I first bought the tests there was about a week and a half where I was getting really obsessed with it but now I’ve kind of worked it out the novelty has worn off and the last few days I just do the test, see the result and get on with my day (trying to dtd every other day to cover all bases).

I was also trying to look out for any ovulation symptoms but like you couldn’t work out if I was actually feeling something or if it was in my head, the tests gave me a bit of peace of mind in that respect.

I think with or without the tests this first month has taken a bit of getting used to so if it doesn’t work then it’s been a good learning curve.

Welcome guys! It's nice to have 2 more on the same journey 😊 @Lovebug06 how long were you on the pill for? I was on it for over 10 years.I thought everything would be back to normal straight away but since coming off in October period lengths have varied making it hard to track with just the app so it's definitely good to do the ovulation tests so you don't miss the fertile days and check everything happening as expected. I know what you mean about the symptoms, is it connected or just a random pain lol

mrsgtobe97 · 03/04/2020 10:45

Don't know about anyone else but I've been on the pill since I was 16 so a good 6/7 years and I came off it early December, had my withdrawal bleed and didn't have my natural period until 20th March 🙈

My opk's still aren't going dark so I think I ovulated a bit earlier than I thought and I'm feeling a bit drier down there and the pains have stopped so I'm pretty certain I ov'd a couple days ago, fingers crossed! 🙈

Nic2908 · 03/04/2020 10:54

Hi!! I was on the pill for around 16 years. I was really surprised when I got my period that first month. I dont use the app for ovulation as I found the app was based around 28 day cycle which was not me. But I found it really useful to track my periods etc. I test to use a dip from 3 days after the end of my period. That way it was not missed. Even when we wasnt trying I was always so proud of my body when I got a positive!!! Fingers crossed for everybody. How are you all feeling today??

Natt99 · 03/04/2020 15:59

Fingers crossed, it does sound like we've all got a chance this month! Haha know what you mean about feeling proud, was so happy when the CB confirmed the LH surge.
If nothing happens in a few months & everythings better corona wise, I may get one of those female reproductive health MOT's where they check your ovaries and tubes etc. Have a family history of ovarian cysts and cancer so thought it might be good to check.
All good here, supposed to be nice weather at the weekend so might be able to go in the garden 😂 Hope you're all doing ok x

mrsgtobe97 · 03/04/2020 16:46

Really hope we all get our BFP 😊 I'm on CD15 but didn't manage to catch my peak OPK on the strips, the 1st pic is one from 01/04 and after that it's just been lighter (2nd pic when dry) so I'm assuming the peak came a few hours after that maybe. I've had what I think is Ov pains last couple days and not been so "wet" down there anymore as I was yesterday and day before. Would I still feel damp as I did when I ovulated if I had conceived? Or is the fact I feel dry a bad sign 🙈 going to drive myself nuts! Think it doesn't help as I haven't pin pointed when I ov'd but we have been DTD every 2nd day past 2 weeks so FX!

I think I will do the same after trying for a few months if the corona stuff has all died down.
Hoping that won’t be the case for any of us!
Can’t wait to enjoy the sun this weekend, will so nice to finally feel like summer is on its way and really enjoy the daily walk.

Woke up feeling a little nauseous today and was completely overthinking it! I know I’m going to be looking out for pregnancy systems in this tww and it’s going to drive me crazy!!

@Natt99 13 or 14 years. Sorry if this is TMI but I've got a clearish white discharge today is this ovulation?if my period was on track it would be now I'm Ovulating but due to everything I read I thought I probably wouldn't have a period for a while! Feeling very sick suddenly the last few Minutes. I did earlier at work this morning and had cramps for a few minutes. Headache all day but I'm Sure its probably coincidence!

Nic2908 · 05/04/2020 16:28

How is everyone feeling??

Gsr14 · 05/04/2020 17:04

I’ve had a lovely weekend pottering around the house and going on a couple of walks. I’ve not felt any nausea again but have felt emotional and moody (that can definitely be attributed to feeling cooped up inside though).

Have been trying not to think about it that much but I know this week will be harder as it gets closer to finding out. How about everyone else?

Nic2908 · 05/04/2020 18:52

I just such a strange feeling isnt it. I just want to poas hahaha. But at the same time I'm so anxious about it all. Feeling super bloated but thats it really I think.

Natt99 · 05/04/2020 21:53

Aww glad you've had a good one, the weather today was certainly welcome! ☀️☀️ I do wonder how quickly you get symptoms if you are pregnant... Since yesterday evening my boobs have felt really weird, like they've been sprayed with deep heat if that makes sense 😂 I never have this feeling before my period so it's totally new to me but not sure if I'm just imaging it as today would only be about a week after ovulation hmmm

Nic2908 · 07/04/2020 10:00

Morning. I'm feeling sick, but I'm pretty sure it's being anxious and nerves. It's getting harder to wait each day dont you think. My plan is to try to get to Saturday..... fingers crossed. Hope you are all ok.

Gsr14 · 07/04/2020 10:37

I’m not feeling sick but very nervous! I think I will try to wait until Saturday too.
I keep googling all the early pregnancy symptoms which I know I shouldn’t be doing because it’s make me more stressed! Fingers crossed

OP posts:
Natt99 · 07/04/2020 10:50

You never know 🤞🏻 I know I've been googling the same, should really do some work! I'm actually looking forward to going to bed every night as it's another day closer 😂

NJ2910 · 07/04/2020 11:30

Hi all! Please can I join? :) also relatively new to mumsnet (though been silently reading for a while), it is also my first month of TTC and I think I am ovulating today so will start my TWW tomorrow! Dont know how I will wait that long though!!

Gsr14 · 07/04/2020 11:31

It’s so funny you say that because I’ve been thinking the exact same, after the weekend I was actually quite happy because it meant another week until I know!

Have you bought tests yet? If so which brand?

OP posts:
Natt99 · 07/04/2020 12:21

Of course @NJ2910 welcome and best of luck to you for this cycle. How funny, doesn't help that the days drag with the current situation....I got these ones from amazon as didn't want to spend loads. If I get any hint of a positive I'll get a digital one. Have you got any tests?

NJ2910 · 07/04/2020 12:31

Hi @Gsr14 & @Natt99, I've already got some internet cheapies that I got off ebay when we first discussed TTC which look similar to the ones that you have ordered @natt99 and then I've ordered some First response early result ones off amazon which should arrive this weekend so at least I will almost be one week down by then!

Nic2908 · 07/04/2020 12:49

I've got one little lonely FRER waiting to be used. My plan was to see what this said and then take it from there. I know if I have more now I will be testing every day!!

Gsr14 · 07/04/2020 12:50

@Natt99 I haven’t bought any yet, was just going to buy the clearblue ones but going to give the ones you posted instead a go seen as they have amazing reviews.

Also welcome to the thread @NJ2910 the tww really does drag but we are here if you need to rant about it!!

KateColx · 07/04/2020 13:11

Hi guys, is it okay if I join in? Smile I'm very new to Mumsnet, although I've been reading a few of the TTC threads.

We're very early stages of TTC, but I've only just started properly looking into ovulation times etc. it's all a bit overwhelming.

Just wondered if anyone had any tips of where best to start with it all? Are ovulation tests worthwhile? I have an app on my phone (mainly to track my periods), but that gives me an idea of ovulation timings. Not sure how accurate that may be?

Thanks in advance xx

Nic2908 · 07/04/2020 13:33

@Katecolx I found the app great for tracking my cycle but never relied on it for ovulation. I bought ovaview opk from amazon. And I dip every day after the last day of my period. When I am getting a positive dip I then test twice some times three times a day. This sounds horrible but I have a book that I stick them in with tape with date and time and CD and then I can see the line progressing. Its also useful to look back on previose months.
