Hi everyone who read this! My typical cycle is 34-37 days long but everyone I talk to seems to have shorter cycles. I'm looking for others like myself who have long cycles and are ttc :) we are trying for our first baby x

@Jaydaebee I can’t see one, but it’s still very early! If you can see one I’d wait and rest in a couple days x

Suki2020 · 05/05/2020 09:08

Thanks @newbie0818 @Runnergirl1. Is it right you should do OPKs in the morning?

Newbie0818 · 05/05/2020 09:17

@suki2020 all the ones I’ve done have said to avoid morning urine and do it between 12-8. I’ve found that I’m more likely to catch my peak between 12-4, but everyone’s body is different.

Suki2020 · 05/05/2020 09:54

@newbie0818 it feels like the longest cycle ever this time, I think I was just lucky with my last two cycles which were between 32-36days. It feels like I’m never going to get pregnant this rate. How are you feeling today?

Pol96 · 05/05/2020 11:34

@Runnergirl1 @Newbie0818 I know, I'm happy for them but at the same time so jealous which is unfair of me

@Jaydaebee I can't atm, but my eyesight not the best, maybe do another in a day or two? 🤞

@Suki2020 they say not to use fmu as it could be a false negative as lh normally surges afternoon evening, but if your surge is in the evening and you haven't tested you might only get your positive the next morning (depending on how long the surge is)

Newbie0818 · 05/05/2020 11:50

@pol96 don’t feel bad, it’s normal to feel like that. I totally get what you mean though, it’s a bittersweet thing x

@Suki2020 you will I’m sure, keep your head up 💗 what cd are you on again? I’m ok thanks, been quite low the past few days after my bfn, but now I’m just annoyed as I think I missed my actual ov day. I’m on cd49 so just want af to come now so I can get on the next cycle!

fifi1989 · 05/05/2020 14:15

I think I'm out this month.. Feeling a bit crampy and lower back really aches since yesterday. AF not due for another week but this happened in my last cycle as well, on the exact same days (CD31/32) and obvs no luck then...

Does anyone know if it's at all possible to book blood tests at the moment? I don't want to go through my GP as I'm sure they have enough to deal with at the moment and obvs this isn't a priority (understandably!) - but I wonder if it's possible to have it done privately? I'm in London.

I just feel like I need to do SOMETHING. Getting so impatient and long cycles just make everything more difficult. I suspect I might have PCOS, but would like confirmation/a proper diagnosis.. eventually.

Pol96 · 05/05/2020 15:30

@fifi 1989 aww like they say though, you're not out till af shows! 🤞 For you!

Sorry I don't know about blood tests.. but I know some specialist places are still doing early scans etc so I'd expect blood tests can be booked.. Somewhere..

fifi1989 · 05/05/2020 15:43

@Pol96 Thanks so much :) I feel so selfish for worrying about this right now, considering everything that is happening at the moment. It just gets to you doesn't it..

Hope everyone else is doing ok! x

Newbie0818 · 05/05/2020 16:47

@fifi1989 you’re exactly the same as me. Luckily before the whole pandemic my doctor put through a blood test form, but my surgery said to wait until my next cycle for it. Wish it would hurry up 😑 think each go surgery is different currently x

Runnergirl1 · 05/05/2020 17:08

Ok so I actually rang the doctors this morning explaining that my cycles are really irregular and we are ttc. I gave her all my dates and lengths of the last three and she said I need a blood test which is the ‘21’ day test. However that’s only a 21 day test if you are a regular 28 day cycle. So if we go off my longest which is 46 days I can have a test on day 38 which is Monday and they are very happy to take a blood test then so if I haven’t started my period by Thursday (due to bank hols and weekend) I have to ring up and book in for one. I explained I had done OPKs and all negative and she told me to carry on with these. She said the test is quite specific and needs to be at a certain point of your cycle but like i say she Is abit worries that mine are so weird it might take a few cycles to actually catch the right day x

Suki2020 · 05/05/2020 17:49

I’ve had a couple of full blood tests done over the last year to check my hormones, diabetes, thyroid etc and mine all came back normal and I’m waiting for a scan to check everything is working. I went almost 2yrs after coming off the pill with no periods. I had my bloods done but they couldn’t be done on certain days of my cycle as I didn’t know what was what. My GP said it didn’t matter what day they take bloods it would still give the same info.

xoJellyBean · 05/05/2020 19:30

I would love get bloods done but was worried they would call in my hubby for tests too?! Not ready to put him through that lol

Newbie0818 · 05/05/2020 20:14

@Runnergirl1 that’s the test I’ve been booked on, but my doctor said that if they find I haven’t ovulated before day 21 they can work out meds to bring ovulation and cycles to a bit of a normal pattern, or do more tests. It’s good you’re getting it done though x

@xoJellyBean I wouldn’t worry about that yet, they’ll start with you and then you can choose whether your partner gets anything checked etx.

Runnergirl1 · 06/05/2020 09:32

@af arrived today. So had cycle of 32. Not sure of even ovulated this month but glad I’m having af so can start a fresh and sort my mind. No blood tests for me this month either, never mind

Suki2020 · 06/05/2020 09:58

@runnergirl1 I would say you’ve ovulated if your af has arrived. That’s good a 32day cycle. You can look forward now to the next cycle and fingers crossed for baby dust for you 🤞

Runnergirl1 · 06/05/2020 10:31

@suki2020 thank you. It’s nice to have people to chat to on here and who understand. Yeah fingers crossed to is all. On to the end of the month for me (hopefully)

fifi1989 · 06/05/2020 10:51

@Runnergirl1 I had one cycle earlier this year (Jan or Feb) where I just didn't get any peak OPKs, but AF arrived on day 33 I think. 32 days is a good cycle length! Even if you didn't ovulate this cycle it doesn't mean that you won't ovulate next cycle. I've had peak OPKs every month since that one cycle where I didn't get any.

Pol96 · 06/05/2020 11:19

32 days is a good length @Runnergirl1, you may have just missed the peak if it was at night or something x

My temp has stayed up for the last 3 days so pretty sure I'm 3dpo and trying hard not to symptom spot.. Which is stupid as its waaay to early to have any kind of pregnancy symptoms haha

fifi1989 · 06/05/2020 11:40

@Pol96 Same here! I've had temps between 36.8 and 37.1 for 6 days since my peak OPK and I am trying so hard not to symptom spot. I wasn't temping last month so not sure if it means anything at all. I still feel a bit crampy and my back aches, I'm sure it's just PMS though as I felt exactly the same this time last cycle. Ugh!! Grin

Pol96 · 06/05/2020 11:46

@fifi1989 Oooh! It's so hard isn't it!? I started temping after ovulation last month so I'm not sure when I ovulated or how long my luteal phase is.. My Temps went from 35.92(day of ovulation) to 36.49 (day after) and am staying up around the 36.5 mark atm.. Last month my highest was 36.71 I think..

fifi1989 · 06/05/2020 11:55

@Pol96 Hmm I wonder why mine are so high.. tbh I don't think I've taken my temp in years so I have no idea what a normal range is for me. Yours sound more reliable. Which thermometer are you using?

Pol96 · 06/05/2020 12:10

@fifi1989 yours a within the normal range don't worry! I wish mine were as high as yours! Really worried I've got a short luteal phase and won't actually be able to get to implantation. I just got the cheaper manual femometer.. My oh didn't want me to go crazy spending money on expensive ones.. Yet.. Haha
