Hi everyone who read this! My typical cycle is 34-37 days long but everyone I talk to seems to have shorter cycles. I'm looking for others like myself who have long cycles and are ttc :) we are trying for our first baby x

Thanks everyone ❤️

@DB20 definitely a positive opk! And we used the conceive plus lube

xoJellyBean · 26/05/2020 19:04

@Pol96 that's helpful thanks :) did an opk this afternoon and it's so so faint, CD12. Will keep going!

@hollywhooo any updates on your cycle???

@xoJellyBean that's okay, hopefully they get darker soon! Mine was CD 17 I got my first positive then with ovulation CD 18

SarahTTC2020 · 26/05/2020 22:09

Hi everyone! Joined today (never thought I would be on Mumsnet tbh haha) but I've been sucked into the conception area and reading for hours!
I'm 32 and have cycles around 42-44 days which does annoy me as means we have less chances in a year... This is my first cycle ttc and I think I might be 1dpo. Using cheap OPKs just out of interest but had a lot of ewcm on Fri/sat so did it then, and had a higher opk on Sunday so did it again, and yesterday and now I guess I'm just waiting?
Had a negative opk yesterday

Newbie0818 · 27/05/2020 08:48

@sarahttc2020 definitely sounds like you had your peak :) do you temp at all? I’ve always used opk’s and although I always got positives (albeit late in the cycle) I was never sure if I actually ovulated after. The ladies on here recommended temping so I’m still waiting on signs. From what you’re describing it sounds like you’re in your tww- good luck! 🤞🏼✨

SarahTTC2020 · 27/05/2020 08:53

@Newbie0818 no I thought I'd just give it a go for a bit without temping and see what happens, might try it in a couple of cycles of nothing has happened
Are you more likely to not be ovulating if you have a longer cycle?

Newbie0818 · 27/05/2020 09:18

@sarahttc2020 that sounds like a good plan. Hopefully you won’t need to though 🤞🏼✨ Have you always had longer cycles? With the ovulation- I don’t think so, but my doctor has booked me in for a blood test next week to check anyhow. I think it will show that I’ve not ovulated as I seem to get positive opk’s later and later, so I’m hoping the temping will give me some answers, and he may be able to suggest something to shorten the cycles. There’s so many reasons for longer cycles, one of them being not ovulating regularly, so I guess he just wants to rule that one out. I think mine might be hormonal/ pcos, I’ll find out soon hopefully 🤷🏼‍♀️

SarahTTC2020 · 27/05/2020 09:52

@newbie0818 ah right ok, yeah mine used to be around 6 weeks long when I was younger, then I had an implant so had none for 3 years, then went on the pill for about 3/4 years, came off last June and they started off 30 days but have been getting progressively longer, I think if nothing happens after 6 months I'll make a doctor's appointment

Newbie0818 · 27/05/2020 09:57

@sarahttc2020 sounds similar, since coming off the pill they’ve been getting longer. So annoying isn’t it, like you said we have less chances per year :/ mine were regular before the pill too which really frustrates me.

sparklexx · 27/05/2020 14:38

Bearing in mind I didn't know to leave them for 10 minutes.

That was ever since I came of my period. Doesn't look like I've even had a peak😭

xoJellyBean · 27/05/2020 16:28

@sparklexx your peak maybe happened between the tests on CD15 and CD16, once I get a high reading I usually test twice that day

hollywhooo · 27/05/2020 16:42

@xoJellyBean sorry only just saw your message as i’ve been in work.
No news from me.
I’m on day 104 😩 i had a few days of spotting 2 weeks ago but definitely wasn’t a period. I’ve switched off from it now as there’s nothing I can do to change it until i’m able to see a doctor so not worth worrying over. Thank you for checking in :)

sparklexx · 27/05/2020 17:02

@xoJellyBean I'm hoping🤞🏼 me and my parter dtd every other day around that time so 13,15, etc and I'm due af on Friday, do you think I should test? Sorry for all the questions hope you all don't mind xx

sqirrelfriends · 27/05/2020 17:12

I haven't read the whole thread so sorry if this has been mentioned before but have any of you tried Vitex Agnus-castus or (chaste berry)?

I had really long and irregular cycles (between 40 and 62 days) and this got them down to 32 and regular. You just have to stop at about ovulation time or there's a risk if you're pregnant due to too much progesterone.

Newbie0818 · 27/05/2020 17:45

@sparklexx if you kept DTD you’re definitely in with a chance 🤞🏼 Like Jellybean said, the peak may have happened after that test, I tend to keep testing if they’re darker then the rest. I’ve heard about Angus castus, was going to give it a try if this cycle doesn’t work out again.

sparklexx · 27/05/2020 18:01

@Newbie0818 when do you think will be best to take a test?x

SarahTTC2020 · 27/05/2020 18:27

@sqirrelfriends heard of that mentioned on another thread, may also give it a go if this cycle hasn't worked thank you for sharing xx

Newbie0818 · 27/05/2020 18:34

@sparklexx opk? I guess I’ll be watching for any signs of ov impending like egcm and a high soft cervix, but last cycle I didn’t ovulate until cd43. It’s going to be a loooooong time before I can do anything I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

Newbie0818 · 27/05/2020 18:35

Oops tha Angus castus comment was meant for @squirrellfriends. May give it a go :)

Newbie0818 · 29/05/2020 09:08

Well I’m around two weeks into temping. Does this look normalish to you ladies?

(I don’t know why I keeps saying 13th May, it doesn’t change!)

DB20 · 29/05/2020 09:18

@Newbie0818
I don't really know what normal is but this is my chart if it helps? Blue line is my temps. I'm also about 2 weeks into my first time temping and I think I ovulated yesterday🤞 I'm not 100% sure I trust my thermometer though, thinking of getting a more expensive one next cycle if this month isn't our month x

Pol96 · 29/05/2020 10:21

@Newbie0818 looks OK to me
@DB20 I think it looks like you ovulated yesterday by your chart too

SarahTTC2020 · 29/05/2020 11:11

@db20 first thing I see is that you have a lot of sex 🤣🤣 we only did it twice this cycle so I think I definitely need to start earlier next time

Newbie0818 · 29/05/2020 11:54

@DB20 thank you. Does that mean you have a temp drop just before you ovulate or on the day of ovulation?
