Hi everyone who read this! My typical cycle is 34-37 days long but everyone I talk to seems to have shorter cycles. I'm looking for others like myself who have long cycles and are ttc :) we are trying for our first baby x

Hi everyone! I wonder if someone can help me. I was on the implant from around April May 2018 and then I got it to removed 22 July 2019 as me and my partner decided we where going to start trying for a baby! I got my first period after being removed on 2nd of December 2019 and it lasted until the 6th of December 2019. We have been doing it regular however not getting anywhere unfortunately. I have just had my second period from having it removed on the 1st May 2020 until the 6th of May 2020. I have been taking ovulation tests ever since I came off my period. We have been having sex nearly every other day near enough. I was just asking for your opinions really? Does anyone think we could finally be in some luck? I was thinking of testing next week I am so nervous.... for some reason it's not letting me add the images 😭

xoJellyBean · 24/05/2020 22:10

@sparklexx hey there :) if you've been dtd at least every other day then you have a good chance!! I've been researching the sperm meets egg plan and if encourages sex every other day. Did you get a positive opk? & when do you think your period is due? If you've just signed up then I think you have to wait a couple of days before posting pictures x

OP posts:
sparklexx · 24/05/2020 22:34

@xoJellyBean hi! Yeah I did get a positive however I've obviously only been doing them for a little bit so I'm unsure. The line wasn't as dark as the other one but you can definitely tell that there is 2! I wish I could post the photos now so you could understand better haha. I've got an app called flo and according to that I should be due my period on the 29th however like I said earlier I've only ever had 2 periods since getting the implant removed so I'm not sure how reliable it is. Xx

xoJellyBean · 24/05/2020 23:27

@sparklexx OPKs are positive if the line is as dark as or darker than the control line. Try to post the pictures tomorrow though! There's an app called Femometer and you can take a pic of your test and it will tell you if it's peak/high/low xx

OP posts:
sparklexx · 24/05/2020 23:31

@xoJellyBean yeah that's the app I have. I didn't know that they had to be just as dark as the control line? I'm starting to stress a little more now because I honestly have no clue what's happening. It has said its high on it. I wish there was a way I could send you the photos through now! Xx

sparklexx · 24/05/2020 23:35

@xoJellyBean however I have just realised that I never let the tests sit for around 10 minutes. I took a photo of them around 1 minute after I had taken them so that's maybe why they aren't as dark?xx

Pol96 · 25/05/2020 00:31

@xoJellyBean I'm okay thanks.. Stressing at every twinge/pain.. And I'm still doing tests almost every day 🙄 but they are still getting dsrkwr/coming up quicker. How are you? X

@sparklexx hi there, jellybean is right that the lines need to be the same colour or the test line darker than the control. I've attached a pic of one of my positive opks. Some of them you do have to wait the full time for them to develop so make sure you check the packaging. Good luck! X

@Pol96 aw thankyou, I'm starting to really worry now then because non of my tests have been positive from what I know but I'm not sure if I've waited the correct time. I wish this whole situation wasn't on so I could make an appointment at the doctors. I'm not even sure what I would say to be honest as I am still young but I want them to take me seriously!xx

Pol96 · 25/05/2020 04:23

@sparklexx how long have you been using them and how long do you think your cycles are? Timing really is everything with this. I was worried about having to go to the doctors if things didn't work for me as I'm also young, but after using opks and chatting my bbt I did get pregnant. It might be worth getting a bbt thermometer and charting if you don't already do so so you can see when ovulation happened/make sure you're ovulating. X

xoJellyBean · 25/05/2020 08:24

@Pol96 aww I would be the exact same!! Have you got a scan booked yet? I'm fine thanks :) not feeling as stressed now that I'm taking a break! I keep forgetting to take my bbt in the morning so currently trying to make a habit out of it lol x

@sparklexx how long have you been trying? Try not to stress so much! I think that's why I wasn't being successful. I was just a stress ball which wouldn't have been good for a baby! Doctors won't really do much until you've been trying over a year unfortunately :( maybe it best for you to wait a little and let your cycles come back to normal so you can get to know how your body works? I've been tracking mine since October 2018 when I finished my pill and I think I'm just getting back to normal now Xx

Pol96 · 25/05/2020 10:56

@xoJellyBean definitely more stressed now than when I was trying (different kinds of stress though!) still waiting for a referral to come through for the midwife ☹️ in the meantime i just keep taking tests. Got one last digi to do some point this week. Did my last frer today and the test lines taking dye from the control line now! Glad to hear you're not as stressed! You'll soon have made a habit out of it.. I feel weird not doing it now! X

sparklexx · 25/05/2020 11:05

@Pol96 I've been using them since incase off my last period so only since the 8th of May. Xx
@xoJellyBean I would say we have been trying since July last year after I had it removed xx

Pol96 · 25/05/2020 11:37

@sparklexx how long are your cycles? If they're longer than 28 days your peak will morst likely come later than around the 14th day. And how many times a day are you testing? When you get a high reading you need to test again a few hours later to see if you get your peak.

xoJellyBean · 25/05/2020 20:47

@Pol96 so how many weeks pregnant are you?? Yous both said you're young so now I'm curious how old you are 🤣 another friend of mine just announced her pregnancy! Such a baby boom right now xx

OP posts:
Pol96 · 25/05/2020 21:25

@xoJellyBean 😂 I'll be 6 weeks on Thursday and I'm going to be 24 next month.. I think there's going to be quite a few babies in 9 months lol not sure how many will be planned like ours though! xx

xoJellyBean · 26/05/2020 12:51

@Pol96 awww wonderful :) really hope it's a sticky bean for you! 🥰 did you use opks everyday? I remembered to take my temp this morning lol but I have no idea how to know I'm approaching ovulation? Even though we are just having fun for a while I still wanna track everything xx

OP posts:
Pol96 · 26/05/2020 13:06

@xoJellyBean thank you, I hope so too.. Getting carried away with nursery ideas etc! Yeah I used opks every day and when I got a high reading I'd do another one a few hours later. With bbt you might not be able to tell when you're going to ovulate, but will confirm it afterwards. Although saying that I got a temp drop the day of ovulation.. Will attach my chart. I got a positive opk the day before and day of ovulation (it did fade out over the day of ovulation) and also had ewcm for 2 days. You never know.. Having fun and a more relaxed approach could be what does it! Are you using/doing anything else other than opks and bbt? Xx

@Newbie0818 it's horrible isn't it the pressure! Thank you so much for the welcome and support. We have got the conceive plus lube is that as good? What do you ladies think to these opks? Hopefully it will let me attach pics, I think yesterday's was low and just taken today's and I think it's a positive? We've been trying to ddt every other day and did yesterday so was going to wait until tomorrow as both Flo and premom predict ovulation next week? Do we stick to the plan or do it today? I'm planning to take another later. I'm really excited to see it so dark haha! I'll also try add my chart I can't see any patterns yet? My temp actually dipped and then started to rise a couple of days ago but I'm not sure I trust this thermometer they seem to be all over the place. Thanks ladies x

@DB20 second photo is definitely a positive. The first line is darker than the second line and that’s what you want.

DB20 · 26/05/2020 16:56

Thank you @Suki2020. When would you say is best time to DTD as we did it last night? Or would you wait see what another test says later? Sorry it's my first month using them. Thanks x

Newbie0818 · 26/05/2020 16:58

@Pol96 wow super exciting! Good luck!

@sparklexx yes it must be as dark or darker than the control. I’ve attached some pics of mine, a dark one and a line of them progressing. Like others have said, try not to stress, but I know how awful it is to be irregular after contraception, it really is a rollercoaster!

@DB20 the opk’s look great! Nice and dark. Good luck!

@DB20 today and tomorrow if you can hun. You just need the first line to be darker then you know you are at your peak and ovulation will be within hours. Good luck

DB20 · 26/05/2020 17:08

@Suki2020 thank you so much, hubby is going to be happy! X
