Hi everyone who read this! My typical cycle is 34-37 days long but everyone I talk to seems to have shorter cycles. I'm looking for others like myself who have long cycles and are ttc :) we are trying for our first baby x

@xoJellyBean I guess as they say you're not out till af shows we're not out yet.. Saying that I've not got a lot of hope for me lol, how long is your luteal phase normally?

xoJellyBean · 12/05/2020 08:00

@Pol96 usually about 10 days. I wish it was more like 14, you?

@xoJellyBean and @Pol96 sorry about the bfns this morning... there's still time though! Fingers crossed for you!

CD39/12DPO and still no AF here... seems like my cycle is just getting longer and longer. I have a call scheduled with my GP tomorrow, going to ask for blood tests next cycle if possible. I can't decide whether I should try and reschedule my call if AF hasn't arrived by tomorrow? Is it better to wait until afterwards? Maybe I am overthinking it... Any thoughts would be really helpful! :)

I think I need to write down the stuff I want to ask her about. I'm so worried she'll just tell us to keep trying for another 6 months and then come back if we don't have any luck.

starfish18 · 12/05/2020 10:17

I was on the pill for quite a while before we tried for our little boy...I followed ovulation trackers but found the clear blue ovulation tests the best and conceived within 2 months xx

Runnergirl1 · 12/05/2020 10:38

@fifi1989 - don’t focus too much on getting pregnant when you ring the docs. I said I was trying however I was worried due to my irregular cycle, she asked for dates and lengths of the previous three and because they where irregular said I could have the tests or at least the 21 day test so when I’m nearly there I’m going to get booked in. She never asked how long I had been trying the irregular cycles where enough and I also said I was unsure when/if I ovulate x

fifi1989 · 12/05/2020 10:49

@Runnergirl1, that's so helpful, thank you! Really pleased that your docs listened to you and will book you in for tests, hoping mine will do the same. I might prepare a set of notes for my call! Ha :)

Runnergirl1 · 12/05/2020 11:12

@fifi1989 - no problem, hope they help you out. Fingers crossed

Newbie0818 · 12/05/2020 12:06

@Lillyloux sorry they’re so unhelpful :(

@fifi1989 I agree with @runnergirl1, they booked me in only because I mentioned my cycles getting longer and unsure about ovulating. Had a lovely chat with a nurse who booked it in for me over the phone today, she was very sympathetic bless her. They really do work hard.

Sorry about the bfn’s @xoJellyBean and @Pol96 :( you’re still not out until the red lady sings 🤞🏼✨

My Femometer arrived this morning and I’m very excited to start charting from tomorrow! If anyone uses Flo to chart bbt, I’d really appreciate seeing a pic of what yours look like?

Pol96 · 12/05/2020 12:08

@fifi1989 have you done a test yet? Hope the doctors can help you out x
@Newbie0818 I put mine on the other thread I'm on with you!

fifi1989 · 12/05/2020 12:24

@ Newbie0818 Thanks, that's really helpful and it makes sense to focus on the long cycles and ovulation rather than TTC specifically.
Have you been booked in for the 21 day test as well? Sorry, I think I have lost track of this thread a little bit, it's great to see so much activity though!

Really hoping my docs will be understanding, I've had really mixed experiences with them before. But they must be working flat out at the moment!

@ Pol96 Yes did a cheapie about an hour ago, bfn.. oooof course :(
I did have a cup of tea and a glass of water before taking the test, but honestly don't think that made any difference. So depressing!

Newbie0818 · 12/05/2020 13:31

@fifi1989 yes I’ve been booked in for the 29th, so a few weeks to go x

Pol96 · 12/05/2020 13:52

@fifi1989 there's still time, fingers crossed for you x
@xoJellyBean I'm not really sure.. I'm thinking 9/10 days but I don't know when I ovulated last cycle and only started temping when my thermometer turned up 9 days before af so could be longer.. Was quite happy my temp was still up today.. Hoping it is still up tomorrow so I have at least a 10day lp

xoJellyBean · 13/05/2020 07:45

@Pol96 are you testing this morning?

OP posts:
fifi1989 · 13/05/2020 10:49

Just had a phone consultation with my GP... not super helpful. Basically she thought it was too soon to do a progesterone test so she has booked me in for normal blood tests (whatever that is...) and an ultrasound. Ive had all of this done before (3 years ago) and everything came back normal... I suspect the same will happen again this time, but that doesn't mean I don't have PCOS. GP was friendly enough and said we could do further fertility investigations later on. I did say that my main concerns were my cycles getting longer and the fact that I might not be ovulating, but she was just asking if I'd had a smear test recently! Bit disappointing.

Oh well...

Runnergirl1 · 13/05/2020 11:21

@fifi1989 well at least they have done something I suppose better than nothing. Fingers crossed that all is ok for you x

fifi1989 · 13/05/2020 11:30

@Runnergirl1 Yes, I do feel quite grateful that something is being done, especially with everything that's going on at the moment. GP was friendly enough but sounded exhausted! Bless her.

Also AF arrived today. 38 day cycle which is guess is ok, at least it's not longer than last month.

Hope everyone is doing ok today x

Pol96 · 13/05/2020 11:43

@xoJellyBean obviously 😂 still bfn.. 10dpo now. Honestly thought af would be here this morning but my temp actually seemed to go up slightly.. Did you test?
@fifi1989 I agree they were a bit rubbish but at least they are doing something about it x

xoJellyBean · 13/05/2020 15:05

@Pol96 aww sorry to hear, still early though. I tested and bfn too! Had cramps and a sore back last night, sensitive boobs today so I think I'm out this month x

OP posts:
Pol96 · 13/05/2020 16:06

@xoJellyBean sorry to hear that with you too.. You never know it could have been implantation cramps?? I've been getting twinges the last couple of days, fully expected to wake up to af this morning. Will you be testing again tomorrow? I'll be 11dpo tomorrow if af hasn't turned up. Unsure what my cycle will be like this month as its the first full month of pregnacare conception and omega 3 supplements, are you taking anything? X

xoJellyBean · 13/05/2020 19:10

@Pol96 I'm at least 11dpo so too late for implantation I think?! Omg my ex best friend has just announced her pregnancy. I'm not sure how to feel😭 I've had no cramps today but we will see how it goes. I will test tomorrow, I have 18 tests left lol will you? what cd are you? I'm taking multi vitamins and also folic acid x

OP posts:
Pol96 · 13/05/2020 19:55

@xoJellyBean it can happen up to 12dpo I believe! Omg I know how you feel, my ex (from a long time ago, been with my dp for almost 10years) announced their second pregnancy and my friend from works about 16weeks its bittersweet isn't it? I've had a few cramps thought af was coming but nothing.. Been getting twinges on my right side for a few days. Ofc i'll be testing lol I have about 30cheapies left lol. I'm CD 28 (o'd cd18) which is the earliest/shortest cycle in over a year. What CD are you?
