Hi everyone who read this! My typical cycle is 34-37 days long but everyone I talk to seems to have shorter cycles. I'm looking for others like myself who have long cycles and are ttc :) we are trying for our first baby x

Hi @wannabe123 doesn’t look like you’ve hit your peak yet, both lines need to be as dark as each other. I’ll attach mine so you can see.

I was worried because I've been getting high for so long. Shouldn't I be getting low if I'm not sure to ovulate yet?

xoJellyBean · 10/05/2020 16:58

Soo does your temp dip just before ovulation? I have thermometers that I bought when covid started incase I got a temp lol must start once this cycle is over. I think I ovulated early this month (ewcm on cd14) so we shall see when af shows!

@xoJellyBean yeah dips a little before ovulation and then rises and stays up until af arrived if you’ve ovulated

Newbie0818 · 10/05/2020 17:01

@wannabe123 I have read that women with pcos often have more lh in their system throughout their cycle, not sure if you have this diagnosis? If not, I’d say some definitely look higher than others.

Pol96 · 10/05/2020 17:04

@xoJellyBean so I got my first peak opk the day before the big dip on my chart, the big dip is ovulation day for me this cycle (then confirmed when I had 3 higher Temps after) so I guess if you were just using bbt you'd dtd when your temp drops and then hope it rises soon after..
Even though I know when I ovulated I'm not sure how long my lp is (I don't think it's very long) so every twinge I'm think it's af

wannabe123 · 10/05/2020 17:05

Don't have PCOS that I am aware of. Only on 3rd cycle (since January) of TTC. I think some look higher than others too but none are a peak.

fifi1989 · 10/05/2020 17:52

@wannabe123 I get random high surges of LH throughout my cycle - I only get peaks at the time of (suspected) ovulation though. I have not been diagnosed with PCOS but have a lot of the symptoms.

I'm on CD37 (10 dpo) and AF could basically arrive anytime now. My lower back hurts so bad, kept me up for most of the night so am exhausted today. Couldn't do a proper temp reading this morning as I was up several times during the night. I usually get cramps and lower back pain before AF but it's not been this bad in a long time and it doesn't feel crampy. Just this constant dull ache for days now. Just want AF to arrive now as I usually start to feel better on CD2-3 (weirdly!).

xoJellyBean · 10/05/2020 20:13

@Pol96 thanks, that's helpful! I didn't realise how precise temping can be, might just start tomorrow morning anyhow to get in to the habit of doing it when I wake up :)

@xoJellyBean that's okay, I started at a random point last cycle to get used to it too.. I don't take my temp at exactly the same time as my sleep is awful, so I take it when I've had the best sleep (most rested) I imagine when I go back to work it'll be the same times though! Kinda hoping that I won't need to temp much longer though but not got a lot of hope for a bfp lol
Let me know how you get on! Is your thermometer to two decimal places? If it's not you'll need one that is x

hollywhooo · 10/05/2020 20:28

Some great advice here - I think i’ll give temping a go too!

Hi everyone. I'm sorry if this is the wrong thread but I've been searching for answers for days and it seems closest and you may be able to help me! I usually have long cycles average 41 days. I fell pregnant last year January and my DD was born in September, since I've had more regular periods (31 day average) but I'm now on CD 71. I've taken 3 pregnancy tests (cheapy ones from ebay) and they've been negative but I've only taken them in the last week. When I missed my period with everything going on with covid-19 I didn't really notice I'd missed it. We've not been actively trying but we've both said that if it happens we will be really happy. With DD it took us 18 months to conceive so I promised myself I would just relax and let things happen naturally but I'm losing my mind already!

Symptoms: around 3 weeks ago I had stringy dark brown spotting for about a week which I thought was my period but no fresh blood ever started. I've had mild cramps for about 2 weeks and my boobs are sore and nipples have got dark. I've felt a bit sick, but I never got morning sickness with DD. My sense of smell is sky high and this morning I could smell DH feeding the cat from 4 rooms away upstairs and it made me feel so ill. I've been going to the toilet more and I'm so so bloated. I've been really tired for weeks and I've been having to have naps during the day.

I've searched loads and obviously found things about the 'hook effect' like being too pregnant for the test to work properly, which does make sense as with a due date calculator it puts me at 9 weeks but I don't know how accurate that it as I couldn't find anything on the NHS. I also read that if it's a multiple pregnancy sometimes the levels are too high also. Twins are really common on both our sides and my cousin has just had her twins so I'm on the same family line to also have twins.

I'm looking for any advice at all! I've been reluctant to call the doctor as I didn't want to waste NHS resources at this time if it's something of nothing.

Thank you all if you've read this far I know it's a long one but I feel like I haven't got anyone to talk to about it xxx if this is the wrong thread I'm sorry xx

Newbie0818 · 10/05/2020 21:25

@lillyloux if it were me I would definitely give your doc a call, as they say it’s still important that other health concerns don’t get laid aside. Especially if you’re on cd71 and that’s not your norm.
Are you sure you definitely ovulated?
It’s difficult to know if you’re getting negatives, have you tried a range of pg test brands?

Lillyloux · 10/05/2020 21:36

Do you think? I'll give them a call tomorrow, I was thinking it's not important at this time with everything going on, but at the same time my mind is going into overdrive!

I honestly have no idea if I ovulated, but I did have lots of discharge a couple of weeks back!

I have only used the cheapy brands as I thought if I was pregnant it would definitely detect it on them. Do you think it's worth buying a better brand, and if so what ones would you recommend are best?

I have no signs of AF turning up at all which makes it all the more confusing

Pol96 · 10/05/2020 21:42

@Lillyloux you could try testing with a clear blue or frer.. I believe hcg peaks around 8-11 weeks so I'd assume a test would pick it up. I'd give the doctors a call and see what they say, they may do a blood test to check. Good luck!

Lillyloux · 10/05/2020 21:49

@Pol96 Thank you. I'm gonna call the doctors in the morning and try get an appointment. I'll get a clear blue test too and try that in a few days hopefully it will be BFP Grin

xoJellyBean · 11/05/2020 13:47

FYI everyone... I saw other girls tracking their heart rate on their smart watch (Fitbit, Apple Watch) it's really interesting! But yet another thing to obsess over 🙈

OP posts:
Pol96 · 11/05/2020 15:45

@xoJellyBean I saw that too! Turned my heart rate monitor on my fitbit back on when I saw the thread lol

Lillyloux · 11/05/2020 17:15

@@Newbie0818 I'll order that now as I just got off the phone to my GP who said they aren't seeing patients unless it's urgent and they don't deem this urgent unless I get a positive home test. If it's negative then it's just a waiting game for AF to arrive!

xoJellyBean · 11/05/2020 21:54

I've had hiccups 3 times today and I never get them... wish it was an early symptom 🤣

OP posts:
Pol96 · 12/05/2020 05:52

@xoJellyBean 😂 where are you in your cycle now?
@Lillyloux how are you doing? When are your frers arriving?
Hope everyone is okay x

Lillyloux · 12/05/2020 06:35

@pol96 morning! Been back and fourth all yesterday convinced myself there was 0 chance of me being pregnant then (sorry tmi) had bad gas last night which I never ever get and all the thoughts started again 😂😂😂 not arriving till Saturday so I'm just gonna try relax between now and then see if AF arrives. How are you x hope everyone is well

Pol96 · 12/05/2020 07:10

@Lillyloux 😂 could be a promising sign! I'm 9dpo today and I'm not sure how long my luteal phase is so kind of expecting af to show up any day now. My temp is still up so hoping for a few more days at least.. Obviously hoping I'm pregnant but not got much hope.

xoJellyBean · 12/05/2020 07:20

@Pol96 I am 10 or 11dpo. I've only got cheapie tests in the house but might do one this morning
