Hi all, I feel so low. Got a bfp a few days ago and then negative yesterday morning. Tested again with a frer last night and the line was there and very slightly darker. this morning another faint line but tonight after a 5 hours hold, it was bfn again.

This happened in May 2019, then July, then September. Could have possibly had one in November too but I refused to test. Now again. What is wrong with me? What could be causing this? Has anyone had recurrent cps and gone on to have a successful preganacy?

My age is against me. I'm 41 been trying for 21 months now. I have high FSH levels but very regular but light periods.

Every chemical i have had really really strong symptoms. Yesterday and for 3 days before that my boobs were huge, I felt sick and had an awful taste in my mouth. Today its all gone.

Nor bleeding yet but its just a matter of time. I've been referred to a gynaecologist and my appointment is on 26th Feb but I'm fairly sure that they will just say its my age and do nothing.

God, this is so horrible

I’ve been there! 3 chemical pregnancies and it turned out I had low estrogen levels so the lining of my womb wasn’t getting thick enough during the first half of my cycle for the egg to implant. I too had light periods which is a typical sign.

Doctors are useless and so are their hormone tests! I ordered a saliva hormone panel test online which tested all hormones throughout the whole month and that’s when I found out I had low estrogen. There are plenty of things you can do naturally to help increase your estrogen levels or you can also use a bio identical estrodial cream for 5 days leading up to ovulation and this helps grow a nice think lining.

A book a read really helped but can’t remember the name of it so I’ll post again when I find it if you are interested. Oh and I’m now 33 weeks pregnant.

Sometimes you have to be your own doctor. Hope you are ok.

I'm sorry OP, I don't have experience of chemicals but I have had two miscarriages so I appreciate the sense of loss.

If you are having a problem with hormones I can recommend Agnus Castus aka chaste Berry. It is very good and when I want to conceive I take it in whopping big doses. X

I had same, turns out it was thyroid related. My TSH was 4, far too high to conceive/support early pregnancy. On treatment and got BFP first cycle after the levels normalised (age 40 with AMH of 1!). I also did everything it says in 'It starts with the egg'. Good luck and so sorry to hear of the CPs.

I feel your pain. I’ve only had one chemical pregnancy but it was my first try and I’m now into my second cycle and worried I’m going to have the same happen again.

I have no idea what to recommend other than speaking to the doctor to check if it’s anything in particular causing it? I think that’s what I’ll do if it happens to me a few more times.

I’ve read there’s a number of reasons it could happen and might be that the issue has always been chromosomes and absolutely nothing to do with your body. Fingers crossed you have some luck soon.

I've tested early but also I have tested each time when my period is due or late. So it doesn't really matter that I tested early, even if I'd waited until AF was due everytime I'd still have got a bfp on day AF was due. It always delays my period a few days then 3-4 days after I'm late it turns bfn. So frustrating. I'm seeing a gynaecologist in 2 weeks about it so hopefully they might have some ideas

Thanks @Livingmagicallyagain my TSH is 3.23, I had it done last month so I don't think it's that. I don't know my AMH level as that's not been tested. I feel exhausted by it, it's such a roller-coaster. I just don't think it's going to happen.

@Whyhaveidonethis I was told to conceive successfully TSH had to be under 2.5 so for TTC you would need to start treatment. Check out this thread which helped me! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3695476-Optimal-thyroid-levels-when-TTC

@Livingmagicallyagain wow. Thank you for that. It could be that. Interestingly in the past 2 years my metabolism seems to have slowed down and I've put on a stone. I'm ordering that test now. Hopefully I'll get the result in time for my gynaecology appointment on 26th.

I can second the advice about tsh, should be under 2.5, it worked for me after 17 months with 2 early losses. Now in first trimester and hopefully at 9 weeks. Also my best friend had the exact same issue, she caught twice, back to back from the second month they were ttc, lost pregnancy twice, upped her thyroid meds and they now have their baby

Test ordered!! I actually feel slightly less hopeless now I've ordered it. At least I am doing something to try to get to the bottom of this.

Let us know. I’m sure so many people could benefit from thyroid testing on their infertility struggle. Must GPS didn’t flag my TSH at 4 as an issue, until I moved GPS.

I got my GP here to do mine, full thyroid panel, and it took 3 days. I didn’t do any of the online ones. I think in the UK apparently it’s hard to get your GP to do full thyroid panels so people turn to the online ones.

I’m in Ireland so had no trouble getting them done.

The HealthUnlocked Thyroid forum is also excellent!

I'm also in Ireland, had full thyroid panel ordered by the gp, they then referred me to an endocrinologist to manage. It took around 3-5 days to get the results I think

I'm finding it really hard today. I've been spotting, but AF hasn't come yet. I'm 2 days late, so I had a bit of hope and did an IC which obviously was a BFN. Why did this have to happen again

Hopefully the tests will start to point you in the right direction. Just yesterday I was with a colleague who has a surprise pregnancy age 40 after starting thyroid medication for subclinical hypothyroidism. After years of trying and IVF!

My test kit arrived yesterday.... After getting blood everywhere except in the test tube I finally returned it the same day. They have said it should take 2 working days to get the results. Weirdly I am 4 days late for my period and it still hasn't started so obviously the chemical has screwed my body right up. I did a FRER this morning to double check that the negative test a few days ago was correct and it was bfn.

At least I will know my thyroid results before my gynaecology appointment on 26th

Wow, I had no idea. Had a miscarriage at 8wks in 2017. Only decided to try again last month. Got a faint positive, and then a BFN a few days later. I'm 44, so of course age is a factor. But, after reading this, went back to check regular bloodwork that I had done in 2017 and 2019. TSH in 2017 was 2.91 and in 2019 was 3.57. I wonder now if this could have something to do with it? I feel like crying.

Medichecks received my test today so I should have my results on Friday. I'll let you all know what they say.

Hi,

I have an under-active thyroid and have had a MMC and a CP.

TSH defo needs to be under 2.5....I am still workinG on that having had medication doses changed frequently...my TSH was over 10 when I had my MMC and I was already on medication!!!

One GP told me it needed to be under 2.5, the other told me my 4.5 was within range.

So frustrating I wish they would just refer me.

I have used medichecks to check my antibodies, they are pretty quick at getting the results back xx

Wow, super impressed with medichecks, they had my tests back this morning!! They only received them yesterday. Still no further ahead though. All came back clear.

And as TSH definitely needs to be under 2.5 to conceive/support early pregnancy seems you're good to go!

Frustrating now though. My TSH fluctuated so I was able to fall pregnant (I had a reading like yours once last year but the rest were 4 or 4.5 when I look back at my records).

I found It Starts with the Egg most useful once I was under thyroid meds. And acupuncture. 6 weeks now so still early days but I didn't get this far before when my thyroid was fluctuating.

So why can't I stay pregnant? I'm leaning towards the fact it's my age, but seems weird I fall pregnant so easily. Oh well I suppose I'll have to see what the gynaecologist says, although somehow I'm sure that I will be left without any answers.
