4th chemical since May

Hi all, I feel so low. Got a bfp a few days ago and then negative yesterday morning. Tested again with a frer last night and the line was there and very slightly darker. this morning another faint line but tonight after a 5 hours hold, it was bfn again.

This happened in May 2019, then July, then September. Could have possibly had one in November too but I refused to test. Now again. What is wrong with me? What could be causing this? Has anyone had recurrent cps and gone on to have a successful preganacy?

My age is against me. I'm 41 been trying for 21 months now. I have high FSH levels but very regular but light periods.

Every chemical i have had really really strong symptoms. Yesterday and for 3 days before that my boobs were huge, I felt sick and had an awful taste in my mouth. Today its all gone.

Nor bleeding yet but its just a matter of time. I've been referred to a gynaecologist and my appointment is on 26th Feb but I'm fairly sure that they will just say its my age and do nothing.

God, this is so horrible

Great that you have the appointment soon.

I was able to fall pregnant, as my TSH was up and down. One reading may not be helpful, and not long ago your TSH was over the range for holding onto pregnancy, it’s very personal for each person though.

I fell pregnant in May with TSH of 1.4 then lost that early as my TSH regularly fluctuated to around 4. None of this was noted until well after 3 CPs.

Thyroid may not be your issue, but worth making sure it’s healthy either way.

It’s so hard, isn’t it? We’d stopped and decided to focus on getting my cycle healthy. Still can’t believe it actually happened. But that as after 4 months of following ISWTE, so I think that also helped, as well as the thyroid meds kicking in at the right level.

Whyhaveidonethis · 20/02/2020 11:47

I will buy the book when I get paid next week. Thank you for all your help. I'll let you know how I get on.

PM me your email address and I’ll simply send you on screenshots of the plan

shelly10111 · 20/02/2020 12:45

I feel your pain I've just had my second chemical and it's heartbreaking, I'm almost 27 and not sure what causes it ? I've been taking folic each day since and vitamins and hoping this month will end better! Been trying for 6 months now, two healthy children conceived first months so this is all new to me, o feel like a broken woman because it's frustrating !

Whyhaveidonethis · 21/02/2020 12:46

@shelly10111 I also have older children. It's just so horrible to feel like my body is letting me down like this.

I've just been to the GP as I'm still not bleeding and he thinks I'm having a missed miscarriage. I've got to go back if I get pain or if I've not bled by this time next week.

I feel so fed up

shelly10111 · 21/02/2020 12:50

@Whyhaveidonethis I feel you, I never realised it would be this hard, two easy pregnancies before and now I'm at a brick wall! Doing everything I can, the folic, vitamins, no caffeine etc xx

VenusStarr · 21/02/2020 14:23

I'm really sorry to hear this @Whyhaveidonethis. I've had 2 missed miscarriages and a chemical last month. I'm going to have a biopsy to check for natural killer cells (nk) to see if there is an issue with implantation. We're paying privately for this as it's not a routine nhs test.

I know your thyroid tests recently are OK, but I've found mine fluctuate - in November mine was 1.9, in December it was 3.06. I am taking levothyroxine now to try and stabalise it.

Could you be referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic? Mine has done routine blood tests to check for clotting and lupus antibodies - all clear as far as I'm aware, but I'm due a follow up next Wednesday.

Take care x

Whyhaveidonethis · 21/02/2020 16:37

@VenusStarr I've also got the gynaecologist on Wednesday, for my first appointment though. My thyroid function is very up and down too. I'm going to mention it on Wednesday

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 21/02/2020 16:44

It's definitely worth mentioning @Whyhaveidonethis the recurrent miscarriage clinic told me if it's over 2.8 I could ask to be medicated, so sounds like it's not routine. My GP was not impressed, he just kept saying but it's fine, he did repeat my prescription though. I'm unclear what to do about the dose if I do conceive again, I've head it may need to increase.

Good luck for Wednesday :)

Whyhaveidonethis · 21/02/2020 16:57

And you @VenusStarr let me know how you get on

OP posts:
Livingmagicallyagain · 21/02/2020 17:13

@VenusStarr what dose are you on at the moment?

VenusStarr · 21/02/2020 17:39

Only 25mg @Livingmagicallyagain we have struggled to conceive - it took 16 cycles for my first pregnancy, second cycle for the next (but I'd had the hsg test too so I think that had an impact). I was prescribed the levothyroxine, started it immediately and then had the chemical that cycle. Maybe a coincidence but considering our history I'm more convinced its related to my thyroid.

VenusStarr · 21/02/2020 17:39

Thank you @Whyhaveidonethis will do

Livingmagicallyagain · 21/02/2020 19:27

@VenusStarr that’s not much. What were your latest TSH/T3/T4 results?

VenusStarr · 21/02/2020 19:56

I know @Livingmagicallyagain, I wasn't sent my latest results but I'll check at the hospital next week.

Whyhaveidonethis · 22/02/2020 00:02

Clearly my TSH is unstable, it was 3.23 last month and 1.39 this week. I will see what the doctor says about it.

@Whyhaveidonethis I'm just about to have my 2nd chemical pregnancy in 3 months. I've not tested this time (I had a bfp at new year), but same as you I get the full symptoms including extreme nausea, sore boobs, fatigue. I'm now at brown discharge and cramps, so I know what comes next. I'm 34 and ttc #1.
I've booked to see my GP next week to ask about blood test for thyroid function after reading this thread. I have a family history of thyroid issues, so I don't know if it can be genetic. Would the GP test for natural killer cells? Do you know how I can get that done privately?

I'm sorry to read you're on your 4th. It's heartbreaking.

Livingmagicallyagain · 22/02/2020 08:43

@VenusStarr the Health Unlocked Thyroid forum is brilliant. And I have PMed @Whyhaveidonethis lots of info that helped me. Would you like the same?

@Whyhaveidonethis you may be right. That's exactly as it was with me. Is your appointment on Wednesday?

pumpkinpie01 · 22/02/2020 09:05

I was in your situation 7 years ago I had no trouble getting pregnant just couldn't stay pregnant , couldn't get past 6 weeks and when I did miscarry - 4 times . it was just like a period. I felt like the egg and the sperm had no trouble meeting up but just couldn't implant . I had all sorts of tests ( I was 38 with 3 older dc) and they all came back clear it was so frustrating. I became obsessed and did so much research I decided I needed progesterone supplements. I went to the drs armed with my research and asked for it he said he didn't know enough about it to prescribe it. At my next hospital appointment I asked for it the dr shrugged and said it wouldn't do anything but I could have it anyway. The next time I got pregnant it started off the same - no symptoms . I took the progesterone religiously and we will never know if it was coincidence or not but we now have a lovely 6 year old ! Good luck I wish you all the best I remember so well how upsetting each month was x

Whyhaveidonethis · 22/02/2020 09:19

Thank you @pumpkinpie01 for the hope.
@Livingmagicallyagain my appointment is on Wed at 9am.

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 22/02/2020 09:30

Yes please @Livingmagicallyagain, thank you. I'll check that out too.

Sorry to hear your situation too @CurbsideProphet the NHS don't fund kn cells testing. I'm having my tests at the Coventry clinic (Professor Quenby), it's £540 for 2 biopsies and a consultation. Got my first one on Monday, so could update after that too.

VenusStarr · 22/02/2020 09:48

Nk cells sorry!

CurbsideProphet · 22/02/2020 09:51

Thank you @VenusStarr
When I had the first one at new year my GP thought I was just unlucky and I should take comfort from how quickly I got pregnant. I now have that awful feeling that this will just keep happening. I hope your appointment goes well on Monday.

Whyhaveidonethis · 23/02/2020 09:08

@CurbsideProphet I'm so sorry to hear this is happening to you too. Its so stressful, made more so this time by the fact that I've still not actually lost the pregnancy. Aside from a bit of spotting and my BFP turning to BFN, I'm now over a week late for AFand no bleeding.

OP posts:
VenusStarr · 23/02/2020 10:58

I'm sorry you're still in limbo @Whyhaveidonethis. Do you think it's possible that you'll skip this bleed and go straight into ovulation? Or maybe your GP could prescribe something to bring on af?

Thank you @CurbsideProphet
