The first thread I've ever started.

Me age 41 and TTC since mmc in June. Anyone else out there.

OP posts:

Oh and I think it is day 25ish and don't hold out much hope, since I have just polished-off the top layer of a box of Thorntons. There is only one time of the month when I could do that! Also very tired, feels like classic PMS to me, not feeling depressed, so that's a plus.
Did get a bit cross about one of my co-workers yesterday - which may have been a bit of an over-reaction. Still think he's a berk though.

Juicylucytoo · 13/06/2008 08:20

RL - Hope this isn't what you think

Sending you a big hug and lots of positive vibes xx

heron22 · 13/06/2008 09:42

Hi Roque, how are you today?

cece · 13/06/2008 13:20

How are things today RL?

Well yesterday was CD 25 of a 31/32 day cycle and I started spotting Today some more red blood so think AF is here 6/7 days early! Not sure why it is so early but have been thinking all month that I haven't OV and even FF isn't sure. My main worry is that it is the start of the menopause??? Anyone else had this?

roquefortlover · 13/06/2008 17:30

Sorry to hear AF is here cece, and thanks everyone for the hugs and good wishes. Still not sure what's going on - no more red blood since yesterday a.m, nothing for most of today and now a bit of browny pink...still crampy though. I really think it must be an mc but is very different from the cp - . Wait and see, wait and see . Feel a bit more resigned and less miserable today though. Off out for pizza with the kids soon, meeting dh there - should be nice!

heron22 · 13/06/2008 17:34

Hi Roque, good to hear you are taking things in stride. Wait and see is a good attitude, as really, there is absolutely nothing we can do about this right now. Not even doctors.

It is good that the bleeding has stopped. Cramping is quite normal though.

Fingers crossed for you and enjoy that pizza! you lucky thing

i am stuck at home with DS, DH wont be home till later. I have really bad cold and hay fever. but cant take any medication.

ladymac · 13/06/2008 18:07

Cece, I always think I've hit the start of the menopause. My cycle has shrunk from always being 28 days to 26 days over the last couple of years. But at the moment it is still v regular with no erratic swings as yet.

My m/c bleeding had tailed off a lot yesterday, it was brownish like the end of a period. Today there is more bright red blood, not loads of it but not what I was expecting after yesterday. Also have been very headachey. Is this normal?

Enjoy the pizza Roque. Fish and chips for us tonight, even though it's not really what I should be having with my wedding 2 weeks today! Think I'll also have some nice chilled white as well to cheer me up.

rowingboat · 13/06/2008 18:43

Cece could it be implantation bleeding?
I remember you said your hormone tests were all good, so it seems a bit strange that you would now be heading towards the menopause.
Probably just feeling paranoid.
I have read that age of menopause is linked to the age your mother and grandmother had theirs. Does anyone know if there is any truth in this?
Roque, I hope you are feeling OK.

cece · 13/06/2008 20:15

RL - wait and see - easier said than done!

LM - I didn't know you were getting married!

RB - I haven't had any hormone tests. Next month will be our fifth month - if not pg next month should I go and see the doc and ask about hormone tests/clomid or soemthing else? Last year I got pg accidently and now despite BD on the 'right' days nothing

rowingboat · 13/06/2008 23:11

Cece, I'm sorry, I must have been thinking about someone else on the thread.
This has become such a mammoth thread now, it seems like ages ago it started, and I'm hopeless at keeping up.
I exaggerated the length of time that we had been TTC and the GP referred me immediately to a consultant (not that he was much use). It took about four or five months before we saw anyone at the hospital, but we had the hormone tests done at the GP surgery, much more quickly. It was really good to have those, just for the information, I just felt more in control.
I hope you can get some answers soon.

cece · 14/06/2008 07:21

Don't worry about mixing me up I get very confused too!

I may go to GP if no luck next month then. I cannot lie about how long we have been trying as I had a late mc and then complications so they know I couldn't start till March. But this will now be the 5th month and I am almost 41 and half so hoping the GP will be sympathetic.

rowingboat · 14/06/2008 21:43

Cece, I did remember afterwards, about the ashes. I hope you are feeling a bit better now.
It is still early days and I do hope you conceive again soon. I wonder what happens to your hormones after a miscarriage - could that explain some of your irregular bleeding, do you think?
Did the bleeding develop into AF or did it just stop?
Roque are you there? How are you?

cece · 15/06/2008 07:08

AF here with full force now so this month a cycle of 26 days. I am usually 31 - 35 days!

I am not sure if it is still the after effects of the mc. It is 6 months now. But they have been a bit different each time since it happened. I have had one of 36 days, one of 29 and now one of 26 days plus two where the pain was unbelievable. Also started getting enormous clots on day 3 (sorry if tmi) Something isn't right

gem2mum · 15/06/2008 08:17

Hi everyone, back from my hols now and looking forward to catching up on all your news so will have a read as soon as DD goes for her nap!
Was expecting to get AF on holiday so spent the last 6 days knicker checking and getting my hopes up and used all three pg sticks on days 26, 29 and 31 which were all BFN and now I'm on day 33 and still no AF never had a 33 before so dont know what to make of it....P.s. Cece, just read your post and my cycles were always 28 days on the dot before my Mc last sept but since then they skipped around from 22 to 32 with random bleeding. They finally put me on Clomid which seemed to regulate the cycle until now.

cece · 15/06/2008 08:19

gem, did your GP prescribe the clomid?

gem2mum · 15/06/2008 13:45

Cece, I asked the GP to refer me to a fertility consultant because I was having the same problems as you after my 12 week mc I was having erratic cycles for 5 months. All the tests showed my hormone levels were fine (so presumably it wasn't down to menopause). The consultant said the irregular cycles wouldn't have been due to the miscarriage but I feel sure that they were since I never had that problem before. She prescribed Clomid to encourage egg release but it is also supposed to regulate the cycle which it did for the first two months but this month I am up to day 33 now.

Have read some of the thread and big congratulations to the new BFP's and sorry to hear about the bleed Roquefort, hope you are ok since your last post. Heron, Jassara and Minmooch, glad to read its all going well with your new beans. Rowing boat and Xserial and Juicy I'm still you all of you holding hands and waiting for that elusive BFP

gem2mum · 15/06/2008 13:55

Also, welcome to Ladymac, your story is virtually the same as mine and I am also 45 in August . I started ttc straight after my mc but it took about 6 weeks for the bleeding to stop ( I did have a D&C). I heard that the menopause was linked to when your mother had hers also but dont know if its true.

roquefortlover · 15/06/2008 16:44

Hello again everyone - have been busy in a good way this w/end but wanted to pop in and catch up! Thanks for asking after me, I am still here, bleeding has pretty much stopped today and only red bleed was on Thurs (sorry if TMI). Also feeling very sick, exhausted, sore boobs and HPT showing strong +ive, so don't know where i am really! Seeing doc on Tues and hope they will send me for a scan - I was 6 wks on Friday so should be something to see if all is OK?? In the meantime had lovely family meal out on Fri, picnic with friends today and some retail therapy (bought lamps for the house so not too indulgent really!) - so am feeling good whatever. Gem, fingers crossed for you too!

cece · 15/06/2008 16:52

RL that sounds lie alovely weekend - you sound so positive, hope it is good news on Tues

Gem - I think I will take myself off to the doc then, although I do have the consultant secretary's phone number.... Tempting to just phone directly. They gave it to me so that if/when we got a BFP we could book an 8 week scan staright away through them.

Now I think about it in the past few months I have had cycles of 26, 29, 31, 32 and 37 days (not in that order of course!) Plus (sorry tmi) I am getting so many large clots it is horrible to feel them fall out

gem2mum · 15/06/2008 18:22

Cece, no harm in just ringing the consultants sec and asking, it might save some time.
Sounds like good news Roquefort

rowingboat · 16/06/2008 00:02

Hi Gem, I'm glad to hear you had a good holiday! Welcome back!
Roque, that's great news!! I'm glad it is looking positive again, and you have new lamps.

heron22 · 16/06/2008 08:33

Hi Roque, sounds like it is all going well! insist on an early scan tomorrow. tell the doc about the cramps and bleeding.
you will be more reassured once you see the heartbeat...

roquefortlover · 16/06/2008 13:12

Hi all - rowingboat, I am ludicrously pleased with the new lamps , we have not bought anything for the house for ages and everything is looking a bit shabby and/or falling apart so they have really cheered me up. Still no more bleeding and feeling really yuk but will def. ask for a scan tomorrow heron. Wish me luck!!

heron22 · 16/06/2008 13:53

Good LUCK!!!
let us know how you get on.

cece · 16/06/2008 14:00

Yes good luck for tomorrow - I hope they are sympathetic.

I have now booked myself to see GP but not till 7th July!!
