ttc after mc July/August 2007 - shiny new thread as the other was full

winemakesmummyclever · 30/08/2007 11:29

Hi,

I hope nobody minds me adding a new thread, but the other wouldn't let me reply.

LadyLush - Sorry to hear about your loss . In answer to your question, I thought I was around 11-12 weeks pg, but the scan said the baby was around 8-9 weeks. When I'd had the ERPC, the gynae reg said the uterus was around 14weeks and the baby was still 8-9 weeks.
I'm sure things do get better with time, but things are still pretty raw and new for me. I'm glad things are getting back to normal for you (and hopefully for others too).

Hello

I like "its all about us" too! Means we can stay on it if we do or dont get pregnant

Just Jules - i think the TTC after mc thread will always survive because unfortunately people are always having mc - and i would continue to post on it. I think some of us would like an extra thread where we can stick together through whatever happens rather than graduate through the boards.

Ladylush - i was told to take atleast 400mcg of folic acid.

ILTS - i am glad the bleeding seems to be stopping. You are over the worst x

Tjuice - glad you are getting some mummy love - i always revert when i go home

Sweetkitty - i am also going to feel v.sad if i am not pregnant even though i know its not likely.

Emmsy - oh i feel for you - i have been there. Looked through my old postnatal thread and one poster had put how they hadnt posted for a while because she felt all our mc might of jinxed her pregnancy . I will do a quick search for your friend x

Goingfor3 - mine seems to of cleared up with just a bit of teatree oil and eating lots of natural yougart- but i hope it isnt going to happen every month. Did you know that you also need to get cream for DH so he doesnt keep reinfecting you (they dont get symptoms but can still carry it).

Hi to everyone else by the way...

We met a group of friends for breakfast in a beautiful cafe in a forest today to celebrate our anniversary. It was lovely. Just been for a walk in the hills and having a rest before dinner.

lissielou · 15/09/2007 17:26

hi all, sorry to see some new faces, just a quickie really have decided not to ttc for a while. i just dont think it will ever happen for us now and feel that i need to come to terms with that iykwim

Emmsy · 15/09/2007 20:17

ladylush A Doctor Ellard from Arrowe Park Hospital in the wirral prescribes his "recurrent Miscarriage ladies" with 5MG of Folic Acid (you can only get that dosage on prescription!)apparently he has done a lot of research on it. The Folic Acid that you buy from the super market or chemist are only 400 micro grams, you would need to take about 12 of those aday to get to 5MG's!
As for the zinc, I have read on different miscarriage sites (on the internet) that zinc is "ONEOF" the minerals that can help prevent miscarriage. The leaflet I got from the Health shop says "Zinc plays a role in more systems in the body than any other nutrient and is particularly important in the immune system, sense of taste and in REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH Your best to research it on the internet yourself before taking it, because we are all different and we may have other problems that we do not share with each other! Good luck xx
Lcy thanks for looking for my friend, sorry about the moan this morning, I am feeling a little better now, I am just starting my gin & tonicxx
ILTS I think my bleeding has stopped now (I hope?)Just want a pos "O" now so I can get back to basics!!xx

katendmom · 15/09/2007 20:54

Lcy, your weekend sounds wonderful! Sounds like your DH and you are a couple meant to be together forever! Enjoy and congratulations~

So... about a thread...it sounds like most liked "It's about us." But some felt part and partial to experiences that brought us together, like MC or TTC or TTC after MC. So how about something like "It's about ut ~ MC'ed, TTC or not, and whatever!"

I know it sounds silly but I can't think of anything better and this thread is getting SOOOO long (and a bit outdated given it's title

PS Doing MUCH better this weekend. Bleeding stopped, at least for now so just feels like I am back in my normal life... I caught myself thinking a couple of times "...did it even happen..." How pathetic is that?!

Off to enjoy a beautiful weather while DS is catching a nap. Chat with you later!

Toodles!

iliketosleep · 15/09/2007 21:02

well bleeding came back this morning so im glad i was expecting it or i'd have been pissed

I've spent all day cleaning downstairs and will spend all day tomorrow cleaning upstairs then on monday ill have alllllll day doing nothing

Can i ask what all this with taking folic acid is for? I intend to start taking it once i actively ttc and just wondered if theres a reason for taking such a high dosage? Sorry if ive got it all wrong i can be quite dumb sometimes

iliketosleep · 15/09/2007 21:04

oh and i agree with whoever mentioned not mentioning ttc m/c etc, I dont feel its completely necessary iyswim, but im easy doesnt really matter about the title so long as everyone makes it there

TJuice · 15/09/2007 21:27

emmsy - i'm so sorry about your m/c. its just so raw and horrible so soon afterwards. i hope you have good people around you to buoy you up right now.

RosyBelle · 15/09/2007 22:42

Hi Ladies. May I join you?? i know a couple of you already - ILTS & Kat...

I was told last monday that we had a missed miscarriage - no growth or heartbeat @ 7wks and I have been referred to a recurrent miscarriage consultant as this was our 2nd in a row... however the 1st was 2 yrs ago & we have had 2 cycles of failed IVF in the last year... got pregnant 2nd time 2 weeks after IVF failed.

ILTS - how are you honey?? I read your post on the other thread about your experience and am so sorry it was like that . I hope you are feeling better. I can tell you now that when I asked my doctor for the pill that you took he refused & said it was the most painful way to miscarry - more women end up in A&E than don't... a large % need transfusions... and he feels it is unnecessary for anyone to go through it.

Unfortunatley I am showing NO sign of this baby coming out & may have to call on Monday & book an erpc after all (even though I don't want 1).

Kat - hello!! When you say beautiful weather... how beautiful?? Go on...make us jealous ...

Hello to everyone else...

Rose
xxxx

iliketosleep · 15/09/2007 23:02

yay, rosybelle you made it

I wish someone would have told me that before dammit

I would highly suggest ERPC hun!

scully · 16/09/2007 05:59

Hi everyone, I haven't made it on here in a little while. m/c was 4.5wks ago, still no sign of af as yet, but we are still sitting on the fence as to when/if to start trying again. Have been kept busy with going back to work part time (same week as m/c but good timing to now keep me busy 15hrs a week), and we've found a house to buy, so hopefully should be able to move in, late October. We just had a 3 day break away as well, which was very relaxing for all of us.
I haven't read all the posts on here, but hope everyone is doing ok.

Emmsy · 16/09/2007 08:01

ILTS No Idea why Dr Ellard prescribes a much higher dose for his recurrent M/C ladies, I was told it second hand by a nurse at the EPU.(she just said he had done a lot of research into it!) My own Doc had no worries about prescribing me it. so definately going to carry on with it!
Tjuice thanks for your kind words, I only discuss it with you girls, most people "even mum" have the attitude that if you already have children then you have no right to feel upset! so I keep my feeling's well and truly away from "fleshy people" and let the moans come out to the "virtual people" on here!
Rosybelle welcome to this thread I have only been here since Thursday, I was posting on two other threads but when I m/c's I felt that I didn't "qualify" to stay with them any more! I wonder if and when I get my next BFP will I feel the same about this thread??
scully welcome back after your little break! good luck with your TTCx

Emmsy · 16/09/2007 10:50

I have just joined the "Bring on the October BFP's) I am not deserting you I will be posting on here as wellxxx

kensgirl · 16/09/2007 11:22

Morning all!

there are so many of us here at the moment that I think I'm going to find it tricky to keep upto dat with everything, so if I miss anything huge, please nudge me!

Ladylush, if you remember my GP said the latest advice is to to take the 5mg of folic acid, particuarly if you have miscarried.I think the esoning was that most mc's happen at the time tat neural development is taking place, and that while the wiring as it were went wronh at the time of conception, it only makes itself eveident at that crucial time between 8 -12 weeks (Ithink..), and so anything that helps promote good neural tube development like folic acid, is a must. How are you, anyway? I don'tthink it is recommended that steam rooms are used when pg, not sure if anyone has answered yet for you!

Hi Lissie, nice to see you!

Rosybelle, I am sorry to see you here, sweetheart. I posted on the other thread for you, my heart does go out to you. I had a ERPC, and in my experience, it wasn't too bad. Thinking of you xx

Your anniversary sounds lovely, Lcy, a very special way to spend the day ,

I know this thread has been going a while now, and wil have to be renewed soon, I'm not too bothered about what its called though. I do think it is helpful to have ttc after mc in there though, as thats what most of us are trying to do, and I think it helps those in need to find us, knowing they will find likeminded people. Also, a lot of those who have graduated from here to the Pregancy after miscarriage thread do pop in to see us. I would like to think we'll all be there anyway soon... Just my thoughts on it though, I'll just go with the flow....

WMMC - are you back from Dublin yet?

Emmsy, Scully, ILTS, TJuice, Sweetkitty, Gfor3 and everyone, hope you are all making the most of the September sunshine!

Lcy · 16/09/2007 11:31

Hi everyone,

Me and DH had a fabulous day yesterday - i cant believe we have been married for a year! I hope you are all ok and enjoying your weekends x

Emmsy i hope you will always feel welcome to post on here - if and when i get pregnant i am staying with you guys if you like it or not. You are after all my virtual support system

Rosybelle - welcome, sorry about your miscarriage i hope everything starts naturally but if not ERPC is a very simple procedure.

Scully - welcome back. I am at about the same stage as you. I ovulated 5 days ago so i am expecting my period in 9 days. That will make it about 5 week gap between erpc and period.

Lcy xx

Lcy · 16/09/2007 11:33

Whoops crossed posts kensgirl - i hope you are ok xx

goingfor3 · 16/09/2007 12:47

Lcy - Good to here you had a great day yesterday!

I'm relaxing today. Yesterday I feel asleep on the train on the way home, I must have been exhausted. DP has taken DD1 out today and I'm just looking asfter the little one so we made apple pie together. According to fertility friend which used my temps and opk results I'm 9 days dpo which means I could test tommorow but I have so far resisted buying any tests. I will try and hold out as long as I can and hopefully af won't turn up in the mean time!

goingfor3 · 16/09/2007 12:50

iliketosleep - sounds like you will be busy next summer!!! I had written on my calender how many weeks I would be up to 20 weeks and I remember when I had to see if I was free one day and it was the day I would have been 20 weeks and it was so heartbreaking. I've stopped counting how many week I would be now, just to sad to think about.

Lcy · 16/09/2007 12:52

Big hugs ILTS - August will be a very expensive but happy month for you xx

EEEK - i cant believe it is time for one of us to test Goingfor3.
