ttc after mc July/August 2007 - shiny new thread as the other was full

Hi,

I hope nobody minds me adding a new thread, but the other wouldn't let me reply.

LadyLush - Sorry to hear about your loss . In answer to your question, I thought I was around 11-12 weeks pg, but the scan said the baby was around 8-9 weeks. When I'd had the ERPC, the gynae reg said the uterus was around 14weeks and the baby was still 8-9 weeks.
I'm sure things do get better with time, but things are still pretty raw and new for me. I'm glad things are getting back to normal for you (and hopefully for others too).

I have lots of wine and chocolate too, but the former is possibly not recommended under the circumstances!
Thanks for all your messages of support once again.
The hospital didn't give me any painkillers and I didn't think to ask. If it gets too bad I'll get DH to go and get the strongest over-the-counter ones possible but at the moment it's fine.
Lcy - sorry to hear you're having such a crap day. I did wonder where you were as you usually post regularly. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I'll let you know how I get on...

Triggles · 13/09/2007 21:11

Lcy - same here. I'm usually not really fussed over a drink, but it's when you can't have it that it's looks good, isn't it?

Lcy · 13/09/2007 21:14

Glad its not just me triggles

Cricri - thanks - i hope you are ok, it will all be over soon!

Sunshyne - this is a thread for trying to concieve after miscarriage. So non of us are pregnant at the mo - but hopefully soon

Triggles · 13/09/2007 21:15

cricri - when we were waiting for m/c to start, the evening it started, i had a glass of wine with dinner figuring it wouldn't be a problem, and then when I had to go into A&E that night I was SO embarrassed when I had to mention I'd had a little wine. Felt like such a horrible person! I didn't need prescription painkillers, but I did take paracetamol regularly for a couple days to keep that baseline of pain relief there. It's once the pain has really taken hold that you end up needing stronger. Just be sure to take something BEFORE the pain gets too bad, and it will work much better.

katendmom · 13/09/2007 21:16

Sending all my mumsnet friends virtual drinks and chocolates~

Triggles · 13/09/2007 21:16

Lcy - thanks. I was struggling with that one, from a wording standpoint.

Sunshyne · 13/09/2007 21:17

Looks like i have a lot to learn guys sorry if i offended anyone. I am in the same boat after 5 miscarriages.

Triggles · 13/09/2007 21:19

Sunshyne - you didn't offend me, I just wasnt sure quite how to answer that. I was worried I would end up making you feel like "OMG I've offended her" and I didn't want that. My brain is not necessarily in drive today, more like reverse. Second day back to work, and I'm worn out.

Emmsy · 13/09/2007 21:20

EllieG I am very very pleased for you, now you can relax and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! Take care xx
cricri I am so pleased that you have started a natural M/C, but if you need to have an ERPC on Tuesday try not to worry about it, I had 1 about 6 and 1/2 years ago and there was nothing to it "I was also told that you are very fertile after a ERPC" don't know why though but it made it easier for me knowing it!
nh101 thanks for your advice, I do hope your temps stay high, fingers & toes crossed!(I can't wait to throw my thermometer away, it even told me when I was going to miscarry!)
sweetkitty thanks for your words, and you are right about them changing the dates when they scan you! There is a lady on one of the other threads who conceived 14days after her M/C (so she didn't have a normal period)and she is 16 weeks pregnant now , I hope that happens to me although it's keeping it in that seems to be my problem now!
I was told by the nurse at the EPU that one of the DR's has researched M/C and now gives his women who suffer recurrent M/C's 5MG of Folic acid per day, instead of the standard 400 micro grams! anyway you can only get it on prescription so I am going to ask my DR if I can get it. (I have an appt in the morning)

sweetkitty · 13/09/2007 21:22

hello sunshyne welcome to the thread and sorry you had to join 5 mcs that is so harsh, I've had my first 5 weeks ago I already have 2 DDs so am being greedy and ttc #3. Have they investigated into your mcs at all?

Am definately having some wine and chocolater tomorrow night only on CD7 today so will sneak in some wine whilst I still can.

Sunshyne · 13/09/2007 21:22

Triggles,

Thanks for that I am glad. I know where you are coming from re the drink situation. I would much rather me pregnant but I;m just not being lucky in that departmet right now.

Triggles · 13/09/2007 21:23

Well, those of you that can have a drink will just have to have an extra one for those of us that can't! Just means we won't need to deal with the hangovers.

Sunshyne · 13/09/2007 21:25

Sweet kitty - Thank you for your kind words. i have had all the test done. Even been to London to see Prof Lesley Regan and all tests come back OK. Just dont seem to be able to carry past 6weeks. I did get a hear beat last time. Shouldn;t have started talking about this.

Lcy · 13/09/2007 21:32

Sorry to hear about your mc's Sunshyne life sucks at times doesnt it!

Emmsy · 13/09/2007 21:34

welcome sunshyne,
So sorry that you have had 5 M/C keep trying hun and read my previous thread re:5MG folic acid (Dr Ellard from Arrowe Park Hospital on the wirral recommends it to his recurrent M/C women!)

wheelybug · 13/09/2007 21:35

Cricri - I had a complete natural m/c and it really was ok (physically I mean). Yes, painful at times but manageable with normal strength ibuprofen and at its worst a hot water bottle. I started bleeding on the tuesday lunchtime, I think weds night I had a few contraction type pains and friday morning I had a scan which confirmed it was complete. I stopped bleeding about a week after it started.

Thinking of you, try to rest and take care of yourself.

Sunshyne · 13/09/2007 21:40

Emmsy - Thanks for that. I will definatley give it a try I think i have exhausted all other avenues. If I wasnt 40 I wouldnt be so worried.

Anyway guys enough of my depressing banter I am off to bed now to face another day tomorrow which I am sure will be better.

Cricri my thoughts are with you this evening. I know what a horrible time you are going through at the moment. I wish you all the very best and and send you my love.

Good night all xxx

Lcy · 13/09/2007 21:41

Join us again Sunshyne xx

Triggles · 13/09/2007 21:43

Sunshyne - Try to stay positive. I know it's difficult sometimes. I get where you're coming from with the age, as I'm 41. We just have to be persistent, I guess. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you. But don't feel bad if you need to vent to us. We've all been there and completely understand the need to vent sometimes.

katendmom · 13/09/2007 21:52

... just tried to figure out if I can't get a Rx for 5 MG folic, how many 400 mcg (regular) pills I have to take... like 12? I think I better ask for a prescription LOL

KashaSarrasin · 13/09/2007 21:58

Wow this thread is busy tonight!

Hi Sunshyne sorry you've joined us - I can't possibly imagine the pain of 5 mc

Katendmom - glad everything went OK! Look after yourself and take it easy for a few days!

Cricri - I had a natural mc and OK it wasn't fun, but it was bearable with just paracetamol. Just like a really bad period. I hope it hold off until after your weekend trip though

Hello everyone else sorry there's so many posts today I can't keep up!

Anyway I have EWCM (yay! ) so I have to go and distract DH from what he's doing for a bit of ttc action before I get too knackered, lol!

iliketosleep · 13/09/2007 22:18

wheelybug.....you must be made of steel!

wheelybug · 13/09/2007 22:23

Not at all ILTS, I think everyone has different experiences and I was obviously 'lucky'. My m/c was quite early so maybe why it wasn't so bad (My post wasn't a 'I'm harder than you' post, I just wanted cricri to know about different experiences of natural m/c).

KashaSarrasin · 13/09/2007 22:32

Me too ILTS - I am so not hard! Your experience sounds like a complete nightmare and there's no way I'd want (or want anyone else) to go through what you've been through!

DH still working, have to wait for my action...

ladylush · 13/09/2007 22:57

They do high concentrations in health food shops. The advice on folic acid varies so much. A lot of doctors are not aware that there is new advice for some women to take greater quantities than 400mcg.

wmmc - yes it's so expensive in Avoca. I mainly liked it for window shopping. I only bought a candle! I saw a lovely cardi too but could not justify the expense. They do nice food bits downstairs. Mind you, the expense of that shop lost it's impact when I tried on some Chanel sunglasses at Thomas Brownes. My god, they were 205 euros I am not into labels normally but I do covet those sunnies

Hi Wheely In answer to your question, I don't feel much really. I am waiting for the blood results but not in a rush to find out what they yield. I am still frequently plagued by the thought that there is something making me miscarry but that the clinic's focus is wrong. I've taken a leaf out of your book though and joined a health club tonight. I aim to go swimming a few times a week and to use the steam room to see if it does owt for my sinuses which keep getting infected. On that note, does anyone know if steam rooms are ok to use in pregnancy? Was thinking about the 2ww when it arrives.

A littlebitshy - I got my oven cleaned today too. How freaky is that! Never had it done professionally before but we moved here a year ago and despite the oven being fairly new, the previous owners had not bothered to clean it. I kept cleaning it myself but could not get rid of the carbon so I got the pros in. Looks lovely now. I hope we keep it clean for at least 6 months. I don't mind paying for someone to come once a year. It cost £52 for the two ovens/grill and the tray. I thought this was reasonable for 2 hours hard graft. Even dh was impressed and it takes a lot to impress him!
