ttc after mc July/August 2007 - shiny new thread as the other was full

Hi,

I hope nobody minds me adding a new thread, but the other wouldn't let me reply.

LadyLush - Sorry to hear about your loss . In answer to your question, I thought I was around 11-12 weeks pg, but the scan said the baby was around 8-9 weeks. When I'd had the ERPC, the gynae reg said the uterus was around 14weeks and the baby was still 8-9 weeks.
I'm sure things do get better with time, but things are still pretty raw and new for me. I'm glad things are getting back to normal for you (and hopefully for others too).

Morning ladies

all this talk of food has made me very hungry

lissie - if you ever need anyone to practice on let me know although I had reflexology and aromatherapy to try and get DD2 out and it dodn't work nor did anything else really think it was more her personality than anything else

ronshar - don't worry if I see a stick I feel a complusion to pee on it as well.

I'm going to buy some opk's for this month I said I wasn't but want to see if I ov and when

ladylush · 08/09/2007 09:56

sweetkitty - great news on dp's promotion.

kensgirl - great news on the all-clear. You needed some good news this week eh.

Hello everyone else

I would recommend reflexology for anyone trying to get their hormones in sync. I had it every week after m/c and it helped. That course sounds interesting Lissie - I was thinking how great it would be to do it and provide a service to patients but don't know if it would be allowed. Will chat to manager.

winemakesmummyclever · 08/09/2007 10:07

Morning ladies,

Having a very lazy day so far. Ds and I still not dressed . Of course, hyperactive dh is out mowing the lawn and putting my slovenly self to shame. Will go and get dressed after this cup of tea...honestly!

PMSL @ Ronshar & SK - do hope the stick/pee compulsion isn't catching (tho I can see myself doing it very soon - have no idea where my cycle is up to yet).

TJuice - that food sounds good - recipe?

Lissie - that's great news about your course. My sis does reflexology (amongst other things) and has had some pretty interesting clients over the years, including the unlikely Liam Gallagher. Apparently, he was lovely and his aftershave was gorgeous!

Oh well, suppose I'd better go and get dressed and make a start on the list of jobs we've got to do this weekend. Have a good day everyone .

Ladylush - we have alternative therapists at our hospital, but only for the staff. I think there may be problems with risk management/insurance/vicarious liability etc. and the trusts won't let people loose on the wards. I think people can pay and have the therapist come into hospital as a privately arranged thing though - not sure. I have seen aromatherapy/reiki used in supported living schemes for people with learning difficulties/disabilities. Again though, it is all privately arranged and they pay for it.

Private hospitals might be more receptive to alternative theraprists - they can charge for it afterall. Dh does private work occasionally, and rang to check on a pt, only to be told "Oh he's ok, he's just having a back rub". Mind you, that was the Alex, where you get a wine list with your menu!

Right, def off to get dressed now.

Morning all

Ronshar - i also peed on a stick this morning (dont worry it was a pregnancy test not out in the garden). I have some cheapy tests so i could check my HCG levels had gone down - first time i have got a BFN and been happy!

Now going to try not to test until October - by then i should of got my period as 6 weeks after D&C.

Have a lovely Saturday everyone - i am working on an essay and DH is writing up his PhD but we are going to skive off in a bit and go and get coffee and pancakes

kensgirl · 08/09/2007 10:19

Thanks for all your good wishes !

I have strange urges to wee on sticks too. yesterday, cd17 ffs, I was debting whether to test. How crazy, I didn't though, it just clls me from the bottom of the drawer...

What a brainy bunch you all are, with the various masters, courses etc! I have no desire to do any more, but I did once want to do my masters, maybe something to think about for the future.

I've been thinking about accupuncture or reflexology too, but don't know how to find a reputble practitioner, or one who specialises in fertility. Any tips?

TJuice · 08/09/2007 11:52

i weed again on a stick yesterday! so silly really . . . but you can buy two for £4 anywhere here so its always just so tempting.

There is a British Acupuncture Council - kensgirl. I just checked up on a local acupuncturist for my mum on it. I guess you could call around to see who specialises in fertility treatment in your area.

My company's medical insurance pays for 10 sessions a year, plus 10 sessions of zone therapy and 10 with a chiropractor. Unfortunately though, they have to be doctor-prescribed and while my dr was happy to provide 'stress-relief' acupuncture, she didn't see any conclusive health benefit from zone therapy so would not prescrie it . . . very progressive insurance though . . .

WMMC - my chicken pasta went like this - quickly marinated some strips of chicken in lemon juice, worcester, some garlic salt, Pick-a-Pepper (West indian sauce) and soy. Then fried them in olive oil until golden. Then I removed them, fried some leeks and mushrooms and two fresh garlic cloves, seared off some white wine in it, added a big tub of creme fraiche and some nice pesto plus some parmesan shavings, then kind of shredded the chicken back into it, cooked it down and served over egg spaghetti with fresh basil and more parmesan. It was really rich but yum with a glass of white wine.

winemakesmummyclever · 08/09/2007 11:54

Kensgirl - you are in Manchester too? You can have my sister's number if you want. She does a pretty thorough job mind, not for the faint hearted or ticklish of feet . If not, there are plenty of other folk out there who are just as good.

OP posts:
kensgirl · 08/09/2007 12:11

Yes, in Manchester, WWMC!! I didn't know you are too. Thanks, that would be great, is your sister a reflexologist? How lucky for you ! Do you wave your tootsies in her direction every time she visits?

Well, for those of you who remember my nightmare holiday fears with dh's best mates pregnant girlfriend (that whole saga), if you remember she turned out to be lovely, and made me feel awful. Well, we have just found out that she has lost her baby, but I don't know the details. My heart goes out to her, I feel very ashamed of myself for being jealous at first, as I know what they are going through now. Sigh.

Hope everyone else is OK today xx

winemakesmummyclever · 08/09/2007 12:50

Kensgirl - my email is [email protected] - email me and I'll pass her number on to you. Don't want to put sis's number on the net though you can check out her website www.jeannettejackson.com. That's mostly about her stress management/nutrition stuff though. I think she has a clinic at the BBC on Oxford Rd (will check with her if that's convenient for you), though I'm not sure tbh (she does so much it's hard to keep up).

If she can't fit you in, I'm sure she'll know someone who can .

ladylush · 08/09/2007 13:44

wmmc - yes I think you are right about the NHS not allowing their staff to do holistic therapies though I hear there are some centres around funded by the NHS.

Tjuice - your chicken pasta sounds lush

Kensgirl - hope you enjoy the reflexology. I thoroughly recommend it By the way, I have had a break from study for a long time since having a child but I can't delay it anymore because my job means I have to demonstrate continous professional development. I am starting a module in 2 weeks time which has credits toward a degree though the degree itself is arbitrary as it's the modules themselves that are significant. It will also be nice to get away from the ward once every two weeks! How have you been this week - it must have been a tough one for you.

ladylush · 08/09/2007 13:55

I am annoyed as my period has still not started properly I have also noticed that I get a horrible cold just before my period arrives and this also happened at the beginning of each of my 3 m/c. I mentioned it to my gp but he didn't have a clue why or wasn't interested. The problem is that whilst decongestants work, I don't like to take them unless I know for sure I'm not pregnant as the active ingredient can cause deformities.

iliketosleep · 08/09/2007 16:23

Hello iliketosleep and welcome to the thread! As I said on your other thread, was v sorry to hear your sad news, but, under the circumstances, glad you've found us, IYSWIM. In no time at all you'll be peeing on sticks like the rest of us!

Take care and stay positive

TJuice · 08/09/2007 17:19

hi iliketosleep.

sorry you had to join us to. you seem to have a really good attitude - hope you are doing good and that you get over the worst of the physical stuff quickly . . .

iliketosleep · 08/09/2007 17:20

iliketosleep · 08/09/2007 17:22

i havent thought about it to much today to be honest as my auntie is due in 2 days and my dad went to her house earlier and nobody was home so im hoping i will have my little cousin rachel to coo over soon sooo exciting!!

Lcy · 08/09/2007 17:48

Hi ILTS glad you found us.

My best mate (bumperlicious) has a beautiful baby daughter. When i had the mc everyone said i should cancel their long awaited visit (we live 4 hours apart) in September because it would be too hard. But i felt totally different - i love her LO and cant wait for some baby time - last time i took the baby off her as soon as i arrived and didnt hand her back until i left 2 days later

Hope miscarriage speeds up xx

iliketosleep · 08/09/2007 17:52

awww well as predicted the bleeding has started again!! its like an irregulor period ive asked before but does anyone have any idea on how i could "speed up the process" Someone did mention sex but i asked dp and he looked at me like i was trying to take his dinner off him

Lcy · 08/09/2007 18:02

Sorry - I dont have a clue

FlossieF · 08/09/2007 18:18

Me neither, other than the drugs they give you during "medical management". I suspect there is little else you can do, but don't know for sure.

Can't say I blame your DP for the lack of enthusiasm at the sex idea, though. Definitely above and beyond the call of duty in the circumstances!!!

Sorry can't be of any help.

iliketosleep · 08/09/2007 18:21

no i can understand it too under the circumstances i just want it over
