ttc after mc July/August 2007 - shiny new thread as the other was full

Hi,

I hope nobody minds me adding a new thread, but the other wouldn't let me reply.

LadyLush - Sorry to hear about your loss . In answer to your question, I thought I was around 11-12 weeks pg, but the scan said the baby was around 8-9 weeks. When I'd had the ERPC, the gynae reg said the uterus was around 14weeks and the baby was still 8-9 weeks.
I'm sure things do get better with time, but things are still pretty raw and new for me. I'm glad things are getting back to normal for you (and hopefully for others too).

Hi Flossie - i agree, after 3 internals over 2 weeks and a D&C it took alot of persuading to ever have sex again

iliketosleep · 08/09/2007 19:53

ah well, it will happen when its good and ready (or until i have the drugs on monday at least)

Lcy · 08/09/2007 19:55

just spotted shagsalot's thread poor her what a terrible time for her

iliketosleep - are you having the medical management on Monday if you don't have it natural over the weekend? Have you totally ruled out the ERPC if you want it over and done with maybe it would be better than the waiting, I know thw waiting is terrible. I thought natural would be better and is was horrible tbh but I had to contend with 2 toddlers on my own at the time too. I don't know what to advise I unfortunately know what you are going through so big hugs and you will get through it, I found just ranbling on here a big help for getting it all out too.

happy dreams to everyone tonight too

iliketosleep · 08/09/2007 22:23

hi sweetkitty yes i have decided on the medical managment. Myreason for not having the ERPC is that i am so scared of needles and i dont need that on top of anything else IYSWIM

sweetkitty · 08/09/2007 22:29

yes I do mine was I hate hospitals and would hate being "knocked out" and something that personal and invasive done to me. I am terrified of not waking up from a GA. Having gone through a natural though now I'm not so sure. Unfortunately I think theres no best course of action.

Lcy · 08/09/2007 22:33

Shagsalot - just posted on your thread. We are all thinking of you xxxx

ILTS - hope you are ok. Speak to your doctor on Monday if nothing has happened and get the options - make sure they discuss pros and cons of each choice. It will be over soon!

Hi Goingfor3 and Sweetkitty and everyone else - enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Is that Winemakesmummyclever that i can hear hiccuping in the corner

winemakesmummyclever · 08/09/2007 22:35

I have to say that my experience of an ERPC was pretty odd (but not in a bad way) as I knew the anaesthetist really well (would trust him with ds anyday). We were chatting away, then I remember thinking "ooh, I'm a bit sleepy". Next thing I know I'm in recovery, the LMA is coming out and all I want to do is go back to that lovely sleepy place.

ssssnotmeee....honest..

Lcy · 08/09/2007 22:39

Sweetkitty you are right they are all dreadful options. I was told the following pros and cons

Natural
Pros- less invasive
Cons - can take a long time, uncomfortable, may have retained products and need ERPC (sorry not my term)

Medical management
Pros- speeds up natural mc, no GA
Cons - having to miscarry at hospital (mine couldnt guarentee me a private room), may have retained products and need ERPC (sorry not my term)

D&C
Pros - all over very quickly, dont witness miscarriage
COns - GA, invasive

There is a small risk of infection with all options

winemakesmummyclever · 08/09/2007 22:41

Oh no.

Please tell me she's not posting as Munz.

How heartbreaking.

WMMC - last thing i could remember was the anaesthetist saying here is the rum and coke - then out. Felt very relaxed when i woke up and no pain (was in pain before i went in because mc had started)

Lcy · 08/09/2007 22:42

Yes she is WMMC - so sad isnt it

sweetkitty · 08/09/2007 22:45

Lcy - my experience was not uncomfortable it was totally awful, sorry if this is going to upset anyone so don't read on but I had a clean maxi pad on and I was sitting on the sofa with the DDs when whoosh it came gushing out so fast all over me, one DD and her cuddle toy, DD1 asking Mummy whats that? DP scrubbing the sofa for ages too that will stay with me for a very long time. I've had 2 children naturally and have never experienced anything like that.

Sorry don't know if I should hit post but I'm going to sorry if I upset anyone.

sweetkitty · 08/09/2007 22:46

yes munz = pipsqueeke = shagsalot

her DS and my DD2 are the same age

iliketosleep · 08/09/2007 22:46

that is one thing that scares me, there being stuff left in there and ending up with a ERPC afterall

Lcy · 08/09/2007 22:51

Sweetkitty - I think its better for people to hear the truth - then they can make informed choices. That sounds so traumatic and im sorry you had to go through that!

Lcy · 08/09/2007 22:54

iliketosleep - if you do decide to have medical management make sure you ask your doctors what the risks of it not fully working are. Ofcourse there is also the risk they wouldnt get everything with the D&C. You just have to hope for the best x

SK - think we should be able to be open about what we've experienced on here. It's good that we can talk about it all.

Poor shags/pips/munz - I am amazed/disgusted by the insensitivity of her husband. It's an awful thing to go through at any time, but it seems so when unfair that she's been through so much already. Wasn't she on our March 2008 thread too?
