Anyone TTC second baby?

Hey! Just looking for some folks in a similar position to start a chat with.

I'm 34 and have been trying for a second child for 6 months. With my first, I didn't realise how lucky we were when we got pregnant in the first cycle with no real trying. I was 30 at the time. Our daughter has just turned 4.

This time, I tried the relaxed approach for a couple of months to start with and then resorted to opks and an app to give some guidance as to when would be a good time to try.

Anyway, after trying for 6 months with no joy, I'm beginning to feel a bit anxious. I can't stop wondering if there's a problem and can't stop googling!!

We also got complacent after conceiving in the first cycle with our first baby. We started trying for a second child in March. I conceived in November but had an early miscarriage. Want to start trying again once the bleeding stops. Late 30s

Aw I'm so sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Such a difficult time emotionally and physically. Fingers crossed things settle for you soon and you feel ready to try again.

Hi, I'm TTC #2.
DS is 4 and was conceived within 6 months.

We've been TTC #2 for quite a while now, we had a MMC in Dec 18 so TTC again for about 10 months take away the time I was still recovering.

I'm cycle day 1 today and new year, new baby hopefully!

Cycle day 2 for me too...I like your new year attitude! 2020 will be the year! So sorry to hear of your MMC last month. Hope you're doing ok xx

MMC was over a year ago now (a shocking fact that keeps hitting me in the face) this time last year I was very not ok.

DH and I just today started to take co enzyme q10 which apparently helps fertility health and sperm strength and motility in men. If nothing else I'm hoping for a placebo effect.

Sounds like a good idea! I take just a standard conception/pregnancy vitamin but tbh getting fed up with it as it's the size of a horse pill and feel like I've been taking it for years! Sorry I misread the date of your MMC. Poor you, I just can't even imagine how awful that must have been for you.

Let's just talk crazy baby making plans. I'm away for 3 days with work this month on CDs 12/13/14 so really hoping to still be in with a chance.

Ah, hope so! Makes it difficult as you can just not do these things. I'm away slightly later in my cycle, day 16/17/18 so hoping the stars align and I ovulate before that! Do you use opks or anything? I have cheapie ones off Amazon but they seem to do what it says in the tin. I think!

We're TTC baby number 2 having had my first (with an ex partner) 10years ago 😮. My darling husband (dh) and I have been trying for 7 months having come of the depo injection in Feb and cycles returning to normal quite quickly! We're facing the hurdles of being slightly older- dh is 40 this year and I'm 35 in July- and my dh has been diagnosed with diabetes type 2 so we feel like the cards are slightly against us but hoping 2020 is our year! Fingers crossed for everyone

I had my last depo injection in September. DS will be 3 in March. I have just finished university and qualified as a nurse so we are ready for number 2 whenever they decide to appear but I am very concerned about fertility issues following the depo, but what’s done is done now and hopefully AF will return sooner rather than later

Hey! I'm TTC #2. I'm also 34 and have a 4 year old who was conceived first cycle. I'm in my third month of trying, stopped taking the pill in October and my cycles have been difference lengths but I am now back at 28 days so hopefully this will be my month. I'm not doing anything other than tracking on the Ovia app, maybe I should invest more effort.

Fingers crossed for you! It can be hard when you feel the odds are stacked against you! Hope your husband is ok. I'll be 35 in October - apparently they say to consult your GP after 6 months of trying after 35 🤔 which when you're 34 makes you hear the tick of the biological clock pretty loudly! But then again I find it hard to believe that it all unravels at the strike of midnight in your 35th birthday...surely it's just a guide! 😆

Hi, I was worried about the depo injection but my cycles came back within a couple of months and have been very regular since... Far quicker than the year they say it could take. Sounds stupid but I'm not sure if this means my fertility is back to normal or not . Hoping it does!

Lnix... Thanks, dh is okay and has done an amazing job at decreasing his diabetic number in such a short space of time but his diabetes is in his genes so isn't necessarily refusbale and we're not sure what damage it's done (if any!) to his fertility as he had no idea he had it until June this year! We've got test (well my dh has) at the end of this month so that will be helpful for us and I will book an appointment with the doctor if we're not successful this time around. We tried the ovulation sticks this cycle so fingers are 🤞

Bookishtartlet - sounds like we are similar position - 34 year olds with easily conceived 4 year olds 😂 I must look into the Ovia app. I downloaded it but was a bit turned off by the incessant emails it sent me. Don't invest more effort unless you feel you need to...it's a slippery slope! I'm a bit obsessed with opks now, which is irritating, especially when you feel like you have got the timing exactly right and still don't be pregnant! Too much room for worry then!

MrsHP - that's great sounds like you're on track to get things settled. Fingers crossed for you after using the opk!

Hi, I’ll join the 34 year olds (just turned 35 but I can still pretend?!) TTC #2. I’m cycle 3, going a bit crazy if I’m honest, getting really down and crying at work when AF arrives. My DD is 2 (tomorrow!).

My DH isn’t desperate for another so wouldn’t go down the route of fertility testing. I’m wondering whether my c section will have impacted my fertility.

@needallthesleep I went through something very similar when we first started trying in that I thrilled when my AF came back so soon after stopping the depo injection and then sobbing when it kept coming. Although I am still finding the waiting time hard each month and have days when I want to break down, I've tried hard to look at what is amazing already in my life and focus on that each time AF knocks me down. We also set ourselves a time in which if we haven't conceived we would seek help and that's what I'm focusing on as well but in a positive way if that makes sense. It's such a roller-coaster though isn't it!

@skybooks @Needallthesleep @MrsHP2018 Hi guys, sorry was MIA last night. Back at work after the holidays (primary teacher) and it has hit me hard! 🤣 Anyway @skybooks sounds like a very good attitude! I'm generally ok but can't help feeling really down for a couple of days when AF appears. It's always disappointing even when PMS has given plenty of warning. I'm CD 5 today so thinking about getting started again in the next few days...ever hopeful it'll be the month! Really can't be bothered starting opks again, such a faff. @Needallthesleep hi! Welcome! Hope your ds had a great 2nd birthday!

Hi OP, similar here.

I have an almost three year old (conceived on first cycle) and I've just turned thirty. After DD was born I had heavy periods so was on low oestrogen pill which meant I had a light period every three months (it was fantastic!). Came off the pill at end of November... got excited when period didn't arrive at Christmas. Tested (several times ) but disappointingly not pregnant. And still no period so feeling absolutely lousy, despite promising myself I would just 'let it happen without worrying'!

Now focusing all my attention on improving my health and fitness so, fingers crossed, if we're lucky enough, I'll be in good shape for baby #2.

Hi @MrsMyreton and welcome! Ugh how annoying still waiting for it to come. I think we've all started out with that "I'm not going to worry" approach but inevitably get caught up in wanting it so badly when it doesn't happen immediately! I wish I a crystal ball...wouldn't mind waiting a few more months of I knew it would work out in the end!

Feeling pretty depressed and angry this morning. Period arrived last night. It was a bit earlier than expected and I was holding put hope it might be an implantation bleed, but it definitely is period.

Here's my story. I'm 42. Dd is 5 and was conceived on second cycle. Due to financial issues, job issues and moving house, we weren't in a position to try for another until recently.

In autumn 2018 we moved to a house, so in a better financial position to try (we would never had got a big enough mortgage offer if we'd had 2 pre school kids). I moved jobs to be nearer my new house. We were planning to ttc once I'd passed my probation. But my new job turned out to be a nightmare and I couldn't stay. Which meant I had to put off ttc until I'd found a new job and passed probation. Which is really frustrating as at my age time is not on my side. I feel so resentful for having to leave that job.

Anyway I came off the pill in October. I knew this month would be unlikely to conceive as we were staying with in laws during what I expected to be my fertile window.

I'm also trying to lose weight as I'm overweight. But I'm feeling so depressed about getting my period and desperate to comfort eat.
