Hey! Just looking for some folks in a similar position to start a chat with.

I'm 34 and have been trying for a second child for 6 months. With my first, I didn't realise how lucky we were when we got pregnant in the first cycle with no real trying. I was 30 at the time. Our daughter has just turned 4.

This time, I tried the relaxed approach for a couple of months to start with and then resorted to opks and an app to give some guidance as to when would be a good time to try.

Anyway, after trying for 6 months with no joy, I'm beginning to feel a bit anxious. I can't stop wondering if there's a problem and can't stop googling!!

Please join if you're in a similar position and wanting to chat! X

@Lnix thanks for your comment. I did not know some women surge for only 6 hours. I was testing first thing in a morning but clearly that wasn't effective. Glad I learnt something.
I'm now day 6 post due period and nothing (and another negative pregnancy test just in case) so that doesn't make it easy for working out when I'll be next ovulating.

Lnix · 11/01/2020 21:12

@ACB1986 I did them once in the mornings for the first couple of months I used them and never got a very definite looking positive. Then a friend told me to do them more than once a day and that's when I started to catch the positives! Think I maybe even did an opk three times in one day once and the middle one was positive. Anyway, what I'm saying is, test as regularly as you can. I use cheap ones off Amazon. X

Trying not to get too excited but tonight I thought, I'll do one final test and then wait it out until after next period finally arrives... and I'm pregnant!

All too much for a Tuesday night Smile

Sammyclaire22 · 14/01/2020 22:33

Hi everyone can I join? I'm 34 and Ttc #2.
Dd is almost 17 months. Took us a year of ttc then i had an ectopic before getting pregnant the next month so not sure how much hope we have of getting pregnant again, but staying positive!

I'm on cycle 4 now, coming up to my fertile window. I temp and use opks(although they often seem high Hmm) as oh works shifts so not always easy to dtd.

MrsHP2018 · 14/01/2020 23:32

Huge congratulations Smile

MrsHP2018 · 14/01/2020 23:38

How's everyone getting on? Huge congratulations @MrsMyreton!

So AF arrived on Sunday, like clockwork and as predicted by the Clue App! I've been quite impressed with the app and the clear blue ovulation sticks that have been in sync this month! Although it means we have a BFN I will be using both again this cycle. What I'm more impressed with is how I took AF and the BFN... Not sure if it's because I've been able to talk about our struggles with people (I didn't want people to know and didn't feel I could talk to my DH as I worried he would feel pressured / to blame... Similar to how I was everytime F arrived) and reading all these posts of lonely people in the same boat or the fact I'm trying to be more calm about it but I took it so much better. Random as that sounds. Yes I did have a little tear but not the big melt down I have had previously. I feel more positive going into this cycle and as always fingers are crossed for a BFP but I'm content with the fact that come what way it will happen. That's my hope anyway!! Here's hoping you lovely lot get your BFP soon!

MrsHP2018 · 14/01/2020 23:38

Should say lovely not lonely people lol

Josie465 · 15/01/2020 04:42

Hi there, I’m in a similar position too. Ttc baby number two. My little girl is nearly 1 (we’re up because teething is too painful) and we’re aiming for a small age gap 🤞🏻
Fell pregnant with her 1st month trying so really disheartened to be on second month of trying already with baby 2

Idontneedrescuing · 15/01/2020 06:29

Congrats @MrsMyreton - lovely news!

I’d like to join too please, 38 trying for number 2. My little boy is 16 months, took 8 months to fall pregnant with him and on month 3.

Hi all!

Wrigleys123 · 15/01/2020 14:50

Hi all just joining in the fun, I am 34 with a 4 year old too!

Been trying for number 2 for just over a year and no hope so far. I have pcos but still get regular periods, also been to hospital for lots of tests but not sure how much they can help me for number 2 as I've already got a child which is fair enough Smile

Emelene · 15/01/2020 14:57

Hi ladies, please can I join too?
I'm 26, my little girl is 14 months. This is our second month of trying, I'm still breastfeeding so my cycles haven't been back long and haven't been too regular.

AF due on Saturday though so we will see! Smile

Talcott2007 · 15/01/2020 15:11

Hi All! I'm on the February Bus too but quite similar stats to other on here so joining for company

My stats:
DH and I are both 33
DD3.5yrs - Conceived after a condom and MAP failure! SO technically 1st time actually TTC!
Month 4 actively trying. CP in November
29day cycle
due AF 3rd Feb - No testing until 10th Feb

We are really taking a laid back approach this month aiming for every 2nd or 3rd day through the month - I'm not looking at my app at all! Sex on schedule has not been sexy and I think we really just need to relax!

Congrats @MrsMyreton!

Needallthesleep · 15/01/2020 17:01

Yay @MrsMyreton

My AF came a couple of days ago. Shall be non stop DTD this month!! Bring on Feb for no 2.

I’m 35 and DH 33.
I have a 2 year old conceived after 4 months
This will be our 4th cycle trying, currently CD 3. I normally ovulate CD 18 and have 28 - 32 day cycles.

Lnix · 15/01/2020 17:27

Congrats @mrsmyreton that's brilliant - great to get some good news!

Welcome everyone who has recently joined!

My stats same - have a 4 year old, am 34 and DH 35. Month 6. DD was conceived month 1 without really trying.

In middle of fertile window right now but havent had a positive opk yet this month so hoping that turns up soon.

Feeling a bit 😟 but know 6 months is nothing in grand scheme of things. Would just like a crystal ball!

Needallthesleep · 15/01/2020 18:28

@Lnix have you tried SMEP? I think my issue is that due to the toddler we just don’t have sex enough, so going to try SMEP this month, plus tracking my temperature to make sure I’ve ovulated

Lnix · 15/01/2020 19:02

@Needallthesleep haven't tried it yet...frankly think I don't have the energy for SMEP - or if we do, that stamina will run out by thr time we get to ovulation when it really counts! But will give it a go next month if no joy this month. I'm away on Saturday and Sunday this week - feel a bit down because I should be looking forward to it but sod's law is I think I'll ovulate then. Should be ovulating around now but my opks are still pale. Sigh. I usually ovulate day 13 or 14 but seems to be later for some reason.

OP posts:
Needallthesleep · 15/01/2020 20:04

@Lnix yep totally get that. We are exactly the same. Also in the same boat as you with weekends away, I’m putting off booking girls weekends just in case I’m ovulating. It’s so ridiculous

Lnix · 15/01/2020 20:43

@Needallthesleep yeah, and yet relaxing and living life probably the best thing for successful conception! 😑 so frustrating! SMEP - busy jobs, 4 year old, house extension! Seems impossible! Almost hard to know what to do sometimes...thinking of giving up the opks but don't know I could relinquish control!! Not that I feel in control of it anyway I suppose! X

OP posts:
Needallthesleep · 15/01/2020 22:38

@Lnix same on the house extension as well. It takes over your life doesn’t it?! And that’s the kind of thing that makes me think life is already so busy with one, should I really have a second?!

Lnix · 16/01/2020 18:48

@Needallthesleep yeah, life is full for sure! Can't believe how similar our situations are 🤣 on another note I got my positive opk so Thunderbirds Are GO! And I'm pleased with myself as we dtd last night despite a super pale opk, so got one in during just before the surge which I think is a good thing. Going away on Saturday morning so time isn't on our side but maybe it'll be enough 🤞 What stage are you with your extension? We are on my starting and will be out of the house for 4 months...it would be excellent to be preg before then as will be living at my mum's for a while and no so easy "trying" over there 😆🤐🤫😱

OP posts:
Antihop · 20/01/2020 09:06

@Needallthesleep that's exactly what I've been thinking. Some nights both dp and I feel too tired to dtd, how will we cope with a second child?!

I'm in my fertile window now so fingers crossed. This is my third month of trying so still early days.

I had some good news this week. I couldn't ask my mum this as she passed away but I saw an old friend of hers. She said that both my mum and her mum had late menopause, not until they were 50ish. This is good news for me as I'm 42.

littletandme · 20/01/2020 10:04

Hope I can join?

I'm 28, DH has just turned 30.
We have a DD who is 2.5.
Just had my implant taken out on Thursday so wondering if/when I will ovulate this month, as on the implant I had quite long cycles, 39/40 day average over the last two years but different every time.
Conceived DD on second cycle after coming off the pill and tracked ovulation both of those months, so I don't really have any natural cycles to go off as I've always been on hormonal contraceptives!

Ejb86 · 24/01/2020 06:39

Hi everyone. I'd like to join please.

Technically I'd say I'm TTC #4 after a MMC of twin daughters at 16 weeks back in September, but I'd love to have a second baby here with me now. I should have been giving birth to my twins by early section today.

This is my second cycle TTC since the mc. I have a 2yo little bed hogger currently laid between me and dp, who is very testing at the moment. Cant imagine what it would have been like dealing with his meltdowns whilst trying to deal with 2 babies!

littletandme · 24/01/2020 07:16

Hi @Ejb86 I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending lots of baby dust your way xx

Merrz · 24/01/2020 09:34

Hi, can i join?
So sorry for those who have had mmc :(
I'm 32, DH is 39, DD has just turned 1. Took us a year to conceive 1st time so decided to start ttc#2 once dd was 1. Really want to go for the relaxed approach this time as i was pretty mental when ttc DD and it was the month we did nothing and weren't trying that we got our BFP but af showed up this week and i've already ordered opks and got out my thermometer Blush
@Lnix i found the 6 month mark particularly hard when ttc 1st time round. Also felt like everyone under the sun was falling pregnant at the drop of a hat.
