I hope I'm alright to post, as I've been mainly a watch-er not necessarily a post-er.
I've found the mumsnet groups to be so helpful when trying to conceive. It's a really hard process and I think all of you do amazingly carrying on with day to day life, I found it completely consumed me really quickly, and I never thought that would be me.
TTC #1
29 yrs old, husband 32 yrs old
Cycle 9 over Christmas
Finally got the BFP this Jan! So we are very excited!!
I don't want to make anyone feel worse if they're trying and it hasn't happened for them yet. IT WILL.
All I wanted to say is:
- Don't underestimate how tired you get whilst TTC and how physically prepared a little egg needs to be. It's alright to sit and think and get emotional about when it's going to happen, that's not a bad thing that doesn't suddenly mean it won't happen/that it's making you stressed and therefore it won't implant. I'm a hard working professional with a long commute and sometimes up to 12 hour days, that crams WAY too much into my day even once I get home. I'm all about not wasting time and getting 6.5 hours sleep. It probably happened to me this month, because I slept >8 hours for two weeks solid and long may this continue. It's completely forced me to think differently about what actually growing a little person means. I now treat sleeping as if I would doing exercise/shopping, I just don't do stuff that's not important if I can't fit it in. Being physically tired could apply to any mum to be out whether she's working or not, or is trying to just do too much.
- DTD: lets face it, get rid of all the other stuff you can do to get pregnant: vitamins, BBTs, exercise, diet. If you're not DTD enough, it's just not going to happen is it?? We had some months when on reflection, we just didn't try enough times in the given frame because we were busy or we weren't actually near each other because either one of us was away. You need to make time for it as much as you would shopping/exercise/eating at the right time.
- Ovulation kits: I just paid the money for Clearblue - I know they are SOO expensive, but blimey you'll spend a fortune when the kid eventually arrives anyway right? For the first 7 months we haven't been using them, I figured I'd be fine but actually my ovulation date has moved in that time by about a week so, bizarre? Totally don't regret buying those, you feel in control, you know you've DTD when the egg will be around at least - and leave the rest to nature.
I drank more alcohol this Christmas than I probably have all year. Ate as well as I normally did, took the usual vitamins, used the usual Conception plus gel. I was doing quite vigorous exercise (netball) as implantation was occurring which gives me confidence I can continue exercising for as long as possible! Oh and I had no symptoms that I was pregnant that was any different to PMS symptoms I've had before. They are so similar for me its crazy, so no point symptom spotting or any of the other things you're suppose to check because nothing really gives you that absolute answer like a positive pregnancy test. Now I have all my fingers crossed that the first trimester goes smoothly.
Don't give up hope - so much baby dust to you all!
