Feel like everywhere I look people are getting BFPs which is great but I’m starting to worry a bit. We’ve been trying since June and have had nothing yet. OH had sperm tests last year as part of something else and all came back fine. I’m 28 and he’s 41 so age hopefully shouldn’t be a problem.
Please could people share some positive 6 month+ ttc stories to cheer me up and stop me stressing as I know that won’t help all this either.
Also if anyone else is in the same situation and wants to chat that would be lovely.

Lots of luck to all for this cycle, agreed would be lovely to keep the thread alive and hopefully have some luck in the not-prego-in a flash group 😂.

Fingers and toes crossed for lucky January to all x

Banoffeepie91 · 30/12/2019 21:01

@MrsMeow2019 ‘not-prego-in a flash group’ I like it. Chatting to you guys over the last few days has really cheered me up.
Also OH spoke to his friend about TTC the other day. They caught first try but said most of the people they know with babies the same age as theirs took over 6 months so that makes me feel better.
I think sometimes it’s easy to focus on all the people who took 1 or 2 try’s and forget about everything else.

It would be lovely to keep the group going. Its nice to be in a group with people trying for a similar time. I really hope 2020 is our year. Ive been a wreck tonight all emotional about it. Tomorrow is a new day though. Too many people to tag but thanks everyone sharing their stories does help.

@Makeafamily19 where you on the pill before trying? I am at a new doctors surgery now finally changed after moving house 2 years ago so no idea how good they will be. I think ill feel more positive knowing im taking steps to get checked though.

@banoffeepie91 hopefully AF wont arrive and you get your BFP. Maybe its too earlyto show

Xx

Makeafamily19 · 30/12/2019 22:24

@Trying2019 no I haven't been on the pill in years as I didn't get on with it, we were just using condoms. I know some women's cycles take a while to regulate after the pill but my body doesn't even have that excuse!
It's such an emotional rollercoaster, I go up and down like a yo-yo! Always feel heartbroken when my spotting starts until AF finishes, then I'm more positive. I'm trying to adjust my expectations to 'I'll have my baby eventually' rather than right now. I need to book some more holidays and make plans so it's not the only focus.
Take care of yourself while you are feeling low and know that it will pass.

Trying2019 · 31/12/2019 09:20

@makingafamily19 your right. It does always feel worse when AF arrives but it doesnt last forever. I already feel a bit better and booked an appointment for the 15th to get the ball rolling with some tests. Also booking a holiday on Saturday. Need a distraction. Going to try and forget about it all for this cycle xx

Banoffeepie91 · 31/12/2019 16:16

Holidays are the best distraction. We’ve booked one for April. If I do end up getting pregnant by then and am not feeling well enough to go we’ll cut our losses with it as we’ll be so happy it won’t matter. If we aren’t we have something exciting to look forward to and plan for.

@Banoffeepie91 where are you off too? I wanted to go to cape verde but its at risk of Zika virus. Gutted.

Ive decided all ive done the last couple of days is dwell on the negative of not being pregnant. Whereas its actually been the best year getting married and celebrating with amazing family and friends and i have to focus on that. So wishing you all a happy new year xx

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/12/2019 17:56

Cycle 13 for me and just trying to stay positive.

Banoffeepie91 · 31/12/2019 18:04

@Trying2019 we’re going to Japan, hopefully catch the cherry blossom if we’re lucky! Checked for zika when we booked and there’s no risk. Wanted to do Singapore on the way but I think they have it there so not risking it.
AF still hasn’t arrived for me. Just want it to arrive so can start tracking. Going to have a bit of a health kick in the new year and start doing some meditation to destress and see if that helps. Need to make sure I’m doing everything I can because I want this so badly!

Hi all, mind if I join in?

I came off contraception (pill followed by mini pill) 5 years ago due to side effects I developed, was meant to use barrier methods but after a few accidents were nothing happened we stopped. Would've been happy to have a baby but wasn't actively trying. In the past year or so have been more actively trying, but due to DP working nights and my very low drive wasn't DTD often.

Past 3 cycles I have been tracking BBT and DTD lot's more but nothing so far. I have had bloods (all ok) and an internal and external ultrasound, all fine. DP doesn't want to get any tests yet but is taking supplements as am I.

Fingers crossed for everyone. So many of my friends have accidental pregnancies and it is hard for me to hide my upset.

Makeafamily19 · 31/12/2019 18:52

@Banoffeepie91 we were thinking of Japan! Whereabouts are you going? It's so hard to find somewhere outside Europe that doesn't have zika!
Most of my fertile windows for the next few months I've either booked AL over or it's over a weekend or bank holiday 😂
We are getting back on the diet and exercise next week and I want to start Pilates as it will help with my back as well as stress.
Fingers crossed 2020 is our time 🤞🏼

Trying2019 · 01/01/2020 17:13

@Bunny2006 welcome. Glad your tests came back ok. Do u use an app to track your temp im going to start this month x

@BeingATwatItsABingThing welcome. Its hard to keep positive but decided im going to chill this month. No more dwelling and putting my life on hold xx

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/01/2020 17:23

Trying2019

I’ve increased efforts this month. When I got my OPK+, we DTD every day for 4 days. We’re going back to EOD for another week at least.

chocolate26 · 01/01/2020 17:31

I just thought I'd add that it took me and DH 12 months to get pregnant, both of us are fit and healthy and have good fertility! Sometimes these things just take a while 😊 I know how hard it is though when everywhere you look there's pregnant people and babies. I thought it would never happen for us but it did 😃 stay positive, good luck!

Bunny2006 · 01/01/2020 17:39

@Trying2019 Thanks. I use Flo and Fertility Friend. I find Flo tends to predict my ovulation a bit too early each time though.

I'm definitely going to increase efforts this month, DP works evenings though and I often fall asleep before he's back and he doesn't wake me/come to bed straight away. However I'm going to set an alarm just before he gets in so I can be awake and ready haha!

@chocolate26 Good to hear a success story! :)

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 01/01/2020 18:08

I agree that it’s nice to hear the success stories. Just as my pregnant colleague went on mat leave, another colleague announced her pregnancy. Babies are all anyone can talk about at work and it kills me inside.

Bunny2006 · 01/01/2020 18:26

Yep, seen so many of my friends posting on FB their '10 year challenge' etc and lots ended the year with babies/pregnant. Very difficult for me not to feel anger/jealousy at how easy it was for them :(

Breakfastat · 01/01/2020 20:21

Bunny I agree. This is cycle 11 for us (9months trying) and AF started yesterday. Iv been really really struggling this time for the first time, Up until now iv not been too worried, but now I am. Probably because we are getting close to 1 year and then seeing all the posts about people’s greatest achievements being their children is tough.

I do think some couples are not honest about how quickly it took them to conceive. Yes there are the ones who it happens for quickly but I think that those who struggle often don’t admit how long it actually took them as there is a sense of shame/taboo around it. It is being spoken about more with social media/you tube but in real life not so much and that’s what makes it difficult for us when we feel like we’re failing because we haven’t conceived quickly.

Sending you all lots of love in this difficult journey.

Trying2019 · 02/01/2020 07:57

I agree i think people are just quick to say it happened the first month off contraception but people who took a while maybe dont say. Im trying to keep my positive outlook today. I know others are trying more this month but we are just going to DTD when we fancy it otherwise its too much pressure on DH. Id forgotten what a normal sex life is.

@Breakfastat this is the first month ive really struggled as well. Cycle 8 (7 months trying) its because a girl from work got pregnant for the 2nd time first month trying. I was thinking it would be me going off work not her and it just hit really hard.

@BeingATwatItsABingThing same thing happened to me. Girl from work pregnant her first month trying. Absolutely gutting i cried my eyes out xx

Trying2019 · 02/01/2020 07:59

@Bunny2006 thanks ill give them a go. I dont think ill be great at temping tbh. First day today and didnt bother. Might start later on in my cycle x

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 02/01/2020 08:22

I’m keeping everything crossed this month. My issue at the moment is that I’m not at work again until Monday (teacher) so I am at home all day with no distractions. It’s all I am thinking about.

Trying2019 · 02/01/2020 09:09

@beingatwatitsabingthing same here. Not back in work till monday. I was fine yesterday when my husband was home but today its harder. I work from home sometimes but going to avoid it from now on. I need to be around people xx

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 02/01/2020 09:54

It does make it harder doesn’t it, Trying2019. Hopefully 2020 is our year.

LittleMissV989 · 02/01/2020 13:07

Hello everyone I'm also in the same position. It's the most frustrating thing isnt it. We have been trying since August and still nothing. I'm feeling it more this month as I was totally convinced I was finally pregnant. Period was late lower back pain nauseous, crying at everything etc I even did a test and I thought I saw a line. Then AF arrived with avengance on the 24th. I was a week late and that has never happened before. Literally felt like my body was messing around with me. Confused. I'm glad I found this group its good to know I'm not alone. Let's hope we get our BFPs soon sending baby dust to all those ttc. X

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 02/01/2020 15:25

LittleMissV989 I was a week late last month too. Like you, I had convinced myself and even got a couple of what I now know to be be evaps on some ICs.
