Hi guys

Not sure about anyone else but i have found that that i have tried posting on various threads and sometimes your own post gets really lost which can be slightly disheartening. I thought i would start this thread for anyone who has just started their TTC journey and together we can share our thoughts and experiences.... i do ask that (not to be mean) that this thread is only for people who have just started their TTC journey to avoid disappointment for people who are way into their journey and who may be experiencing different things. My own story is that i came of the pill in September and have yet to get my BFP. I got my first positive on Saturday just gone and now im 1dpo. Be great to hear from anyone in a similiar boat! Xx

@EithneBlue Got my fingers crossed for you lovely, it’s good you have been kept busy so your not symptom checking, I am in the 2 week wait but feel exactly the same as normal so pretty sure it’s another failed month for us. Half term next week for you is it? Have you got any nice plans? 😊
@WednesdaySpinner bless you lovely, certainly know how that feels but yes pick yourself up and nice you have a weekend away with hubby this one! Are use off to anywhere nice? I haven’t heard of the Ava bracelets but intrigued to hear about them. Ovulation sticks don’t seem to be working for me and we have had a busy month as well so really don’t understand what we are doing wrong - it’s so annoying isn’t it. But trying to not think negatively and hoping our time will come soon! Hope everyone else is good x

Shaunab16 · 13/02/2020 12:35

Hi all, so my first-month trying SMEP and I was soo optimistic, I was 2 days late so getting my hopes up then boom, I've just come on Sad I just feel so deflated and I know it hasn't been long but I'm literally seeing baby stuff EVERYWHERE and it makes me so sad. I think I am just having one of those days. I'm also paranoid that due to me being late, it's going to mess my whole cycle up for trying again.

Sorry for being a negative nancy but I can't talk about any of this to anyone else xx

Vikki90 · 13/02/2020 14:25

@Shaunab16 I know how you feel! I feel like this already as just know it hasn’t worked for us again this month and AF hasn’t arrived. You will feel much better in a couple of days...it’s so deflating but keep your head up. Have you used ovulation sticks? X

Shaunab16 · 13/02/2020 15:23

@vikki90 Are trying the SMEP? How long have you been trying? There's still hope for you don't worry too soon, although I do know what you mean by when you just know it hasn't worked. I feel like I just need to relax but I just can't. I actually used the ovulation strips for the first time this month and it married up perfectly with my app, they were only cheapies of Amazon. I might give the conceive plus a try, I've heard positive things about it. xx

Jenna30ttc · 13/02/2020 16:40

@EithneBlue hiya! I have been super quiet. I wanted to take a break from MN and the googling etc (it was driving me mad)! I feel like the break has definitely done me some good. I'm currently in my TWW and for once I haven't been stressing or thinking too much about it. I'm also ill (which is probably why I'm not thinking about it)! How have you been? Glad to see that everyone else is okay! X

Vikki90 · 13/02/2020 16:44

@Shaunab16 actively trying for 4 months now. How about you? I have tried ovulation kits and had smileys but not a peak smiley and tried amazon cheapies this week and struggling to tell whether negative or positive, 1 day seemed bolder but I wasn’t 100%. What’s conceive plus?

Vikki90 · 13/02/2020 16:46

@Shaunab16 this month not week that should have said x ha

Lmac2018 · 13/02/2020 16:49

Hi girls ! Don't know wether this thread is still alive but I could really use some advise...
I finished my period around 3/4 days ago.. it was late by nearly 2 days which isn't really normal but I just put it down as normal. And now I'm getting super strong positive ovulation tests that's been lasting the last 2 days.. I don't know wether that means I'm ovukating or what but I'm just confused as I didn't know I was ovukating this early cos my cycle is usually 28-30 days long..

Starburst12 · 13/02/2020 17:05

Hey ladies, firsttimettc Back again (incase you didn’t see my previous post.
I was just having a read through to see how everyone’s doing & I thought I’d just share that when I conceived, we were using preseed... I’ve read conflicting things about whether or not it works but we liked it and it worked for us! (Obviously not sure if it was down to that or just coincidence...)

Hope everyone is doing well xx

Vikki90 · 13/02/2020 17:25

@FirsttimeTTC sorry it won’t let me tag starburst! How are you getting along? Hope all good Smile how long did it take use to conceive? And any other tips you have please let us know! Hope your not feeling sick or too tired, my friend is pregnant and has been so tired bless her

Vikki90 · 13/02/2020 17:33

@Jenna30ttc glad your good lovely! I am the same it’s when it nears the TWW that I start getting a little stressed about things. Let’s hope it’s your month! Relaxation is key so they say x

Jenna30ttc · 13/02/2020 17:39

@Starburst12 hiya Awhh I hope you are doing well. We use preseed for the first time this month. So we will see. 🤞🏽

@Vikki90 hi lovely yep same old feelings (when you are in the TWW) 🙄. Fingers crossed we get another BFP soon x

WednesdaySpinner · 13/02/2020 18:28

@Vikki90 we are off to the Lake District, we've hired a little cottage for the weekend and I'm definitely ready for the break! The Ava bracelet is something you wear at night and it monitors your temp while you sleep and then tells you when you are ovulating. Saves all the constant POAS and buying ovulation tests but it is £200 and so not something I want to rush out and buy!!

I've heard really good things about preseed too, I might buy some for next month @Starburst12. How are you feeling at the moment, has it all sunk in yet? Grin

Vikki90 · 13/02/2020 18:54

@Jenna30ttc totally..already setting myself up for another failed month! 😒 this is going back to basics but any tips on checking for egg white mucus? Without going in to too much detail and putting you off your dinner 😂... how do you check it? I try to do it but I can never see much difference! Not sure if it’s because I drink a lot of water I am constantly on the loo and wiping so it’s hard to tell?

@wednesdayspinner aww I love the lakes, we go there quite a bit too, where abouts are use heading? Aww I see, I don’t think I could spend £200, would rather buy some new clothes ha! I am gonna try another month with the clear blue and amazon sticks and if nothing positive from them then I might book in with my Dr as I have never had a ‘peak’ test just a high one so I don’t know what this means x

Jenna30ttc · 13/02/2020 19:39

@Vikki90 so I'm the same I haven't noticed ewcm. Hence why I bought the pre seed. After af arrived last cycle and how stressed I was, I went to the drs and they told me to come in for blood tests when my next af arrives to make sure everything is okay (which is surprising as the dr said they don't really test before the 1 year mark). I think having the test done will just help me relax more. I wouldn't worry so much I don't think every gets the ewcm apparently having watery cm is also a good sign. X

Vikki90 · 13/02/2020 20:11

@Jenna30ttc that’s good! My doctors are really good to so I am going to ring them if AF arrives which I am 99% sure it’s going to. The only friend I have confided in has told me to go as she can tell I am getting worried about things. I think it will reassure me to so your defo doing the right thing. You will have to let me know how you get on lovely. I feel a bit low tonight think hormones (tend to be a right moody/emotional mess a week before period) hence why I feel it’s another failed month. It’s just disheartening isn’t it when you want it so badly. Xx

EithneBlue · 14/02/2020 18:17

I'm 8DPO and I feel rubbish today. Sick, dizzy, exhausted and definitely coming down with a cold. Just in time for half term, obviously. I don't think any of those are symptoms of successful TTC month: I think they're symptoms of working too hard and needing to sleep.

@Jenna30ttc - Sometimes a break does you good :) Have you got any exciting weekend plans? Sounds like a good decision to check with your doctor: hopefully it'll reassure you.

@Shaunab16 --AF sucks :( Make sure you look after yourself and fingers crossed it will happen soon.

@Vikki90 - If you're not noticing it in your pants, try remembering to wipe once before you pee or use a finger to check before you pee... If you pee and then check you'll end up with pee fingers :)

@Starburst12 - How are you doing? Does it feel any more real yet? ;)

Jenna30ttc · 14/02/2020 18:25

@EithneBlue hello! I'm away in Scotland for a wee cottage break! I feel you! I've had a cold since Tuesday and even though it's better I'm still not fully better. I'm currently 5dpo! And like you I don't think the cold has anything to do with a successful month. I feel like if I did get pregnant i would know and tbh I don't feel any different 😂 except for this damn cold. I hope you feel better soon. Xx

Vikki90 · 14/02/2020 20:31

@EithneBlue this is my issue, I generally have always had a decent amount of discharge so am struggling to notice the difference between egg white and none egg white 🙈 the only time I know I am not fertile is the week leading up to my period as I dry up. God I didn’t feel like I would be discussing this on a thread on mumsnet haha! Hope your feeling better soon!

@Jenna30ttc enjoy your weekend in Scotland! I totally agree, I just know I would know! I am enjoying some drinks tonight! Was trying to have a few weeks off the wine but I have totally failed 🙈 valentines is a good excuse for a drink hey? 😬 x

EithneBlue · 14/02/2020 22:28

@vikki90 Yeah, I mean there's nothing elegant about human reproduction. When we are successful in TTC we have 9 months of other people poking around down there. If it stretches, it's good ;-)

EithneBlue · 14/02/2020 22:46

I just reread that last post. I meant if the cm stretches, it's good! It was not a grubby euphemism Blush

Starburst12 · 15/02/2020 08:33

@Vikki90 I don’t really have any other tips on how we managed it haha we dtd a lot but I wouldn’t say excessively.. I actually thought maybe we didn’t do it enough. I will attach a pic of Flo to show when we did it around ovulation if that helps? After ovulation I stopped tracking it and was going to start again after AF. Will update how I’m doing in another post to tag everyone else that’s asked xx

Too many threads and looking for friends to go through the TTC journey
Starburst12 · 15/02/2020 08:45

@Vikki90 @WednesdaySpinner @EithneBlue I’m doing okay thank you! The nausea has hit me hard, super sore boobs, lots of gas and weeing all the time. Lots of cramps too which I have been a bit worried about because they feel just like AF, but I’ve been reassured that they are just stretching pains. In fact, a lot of symptoms are very similar to PMS.

I struggled a bit at the start to accept that I’m pregnant but now that I’ve got real symptoms it has definitely sunk in. I’m suffering quite a bit with anxiety. I used to have anxiety which were managed by antidepressants but I was in a position to come off them around 6 months before TTC. I’m going to go back to my doctor because I’m feeling just like I was a few years ago. I’ve read this is pretty normal though.

Despite all of the symptoms, I’m finally allowing myself to get excited! Have my first midwife appointment in just under two weeks Smile

I have my fingers firmly crossed for you all to get your BFPs very soon!

peachypetite · 15/02/2020 09:30

Just thought I'd update in case anyone was interested. I got a static smiley, which was three days after flo app suggested ovulation.
Unfortunately my husband was away with work, so had sex two days before the static. I'm not hopeful this month but I will definitely use the sticks again next month, I found them very helpful and easy to use.

Vikki90 · 15/02/2020 09:34

@EithneBlue haha so true!! 😂

@Starburst12 bless you lovely, I have suffered with anxiety in the past to and I can imagine it’s such an exciting time but full of worry until baby is here safely but try to relax and enjoy the experience as it’s such a precious thing. Everything will be fine 😊

@peachypetite glad you got your static smiley!! At least next month you can maybe plan it so hubby will be around? That’s if you haven’t been successful this month- you might have been! I will cross my fingers and toes for you x 😬
