Hi guys

Not sure about anyone else but i have found that that i have tried posting on various threads and sometimes your own post gets really lost which can be slightly disheartening. I thought i would start this thread for anyone who has just started their TTC journey and together we can share our thoughts and experiences.... i do ask that (not to be mean) that this thread is only for people who have just started their TTC journey to avoid disappointment for people who are way into their journey and who may be experiencing different things. My own story is that i came of the pill in September and have yet to get my BFP. I got my first positive on Saturday just gone and now im 1dpo. Be great to hear from anyone in a similiar boat! Xx

@FirsttimeTTC that sounds like a great plan. We did that. TBH we didnt want sex to turn into a chore so we justdid it when we wanted and had fun doing it and we got lucky.! Try do it every day you have EWCM then back to every other day or how often you want. You may be able topin point when you ovulate if you feel a slight twinge or pop sensation on either side. Bestof luck anyway. Keep me updated

Swife · 14/01/2020 16:38

UPDATE: I spoke with my OBGYN this morning. My Progesterone level is 24(she said it's in normal range and that if it was lower than 20 it would be a problem). I just read the my range is also normal if I just ovulate which would make since according to my crazy OPKS(it gave me two peaks).
According to the blood test, I'm not pregnant 😕.
All my other levels are good. She still wants me to take 400mg if Progesterone daily and to up my vitamin D3 from 10,000 to 15,000 for 3 months.
My pain is most likely Endometriosis pain. I have a sonogram tomorrow to look for any issues. Still must schedule a colonoscopy 😒.
Praying everyone else has good news 🤞🏽

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 17:13

@lucy5546 it’s so refreshing to be able to talk to someone who’s been there, done it and it’s worked! Honestly really appreciate it. I’m keeping an eye out as when I had the implant (over 3 years ago) I could always feel my ovulation however haven’t felt it since! So hoping to try and be able to spot it. Will definitely keep you posted!

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 17:54

@Swife good news that you know where you stand with progesterone and vitamin D! At least you know what to do moving forward. Fingers crossed for your sonogram tomorrow x

Swife · 14/01/2020 18:58

@FirsttimeTTC thanks ☺️. You are right about the knowing part as that's part of our battle. The constant unknown 😕.
How have you and everyone here been making out?

jenna30 · 14/01/2020 20:01

@Swife its good that you got checked out. Good luck tomorrow and let us know how it goes.

Im feeling really quite shit today and have been for the last few days! 🙄. So hard to want something so hard and it being somewhat out of your control. How is everyone else feeling?

@jenna30 @Swife For the last week I’ve been up and down like a yo-yo. I think we all get a little frustrated at times on how much thought and planning actually has to go in to getting pregnant, whereas growing up it was as if we’d have unprotected sex once and get pregnant. I so wish it was that easy.
I feel like an awful person because SIL has just had a beautiful baby girl but every time I see her I feel like crying. It’s so horrible even though I love her and she’s so perfect!
I’ve only told one person that we are TTC and that’s because she’s going through the exact same thing, which makes things a little easier. And we both know not to pester each other with questions on how it’s going etc, just talk and rant about it when it gets brought up in conversation.
I think if this isn’t our month then I’m going to try and force myself to not make TTC such an obsession and just dtd whenever we want.

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 20:14

I also feel really bad for even moaning when there’s people who have been trying for years and I’ve only been trying since Nov/dec. it’s crazy how it takes over your life!

jenna30 · 14/01/2020 20:17

@FirsttimeTTC I know it sounds so ridiculous for moaning when other people having been trying longer, but like you said it just takes over your life. I was okay till a few days ago when sil made her announcement and since then i cant seem to get myself out of this negative blip!

@FirsttimeTTC how long have you been trying?

Hi guys! Been googling TTC forums all night and stumbled across you guys (the most recent I could find) just wanting to chat to people in the same boat..I came off the pill in June and we have been trying actively since October and not having any joy at all! My cycles are ranging from 33 days to 44 days - anyone else having issues trying to work out when ovulation is occurring? Xx

peachypetite · 14/01/2020 21:05

@vikki welcome! I have had a few instances of crazy cycles around sept but luckily the last few have settled down to normal. If you’re not sure when you’re ovulating just make sure you’re having sex every other day and hopefully you’ll catch it.

peachypetite · 14/01/2020 21:09

@FirsttimeTTC OMG I know exactly what you mean. I don’t understand how people get pregnant accidentally/ons! I’ve spent the whole of my 20s trying to avoid pregnancy and now feel like it’s a military operation Ttc

Sausage1990 · 14/01/2020 22:00

Hi ladies. I've just been catching up on the chat... Welcome @Vikki90 I struggled with longer cycles when I 1st came my pill but have settled to 34-35 days on average so hopefully yours will settle down.
Personally the only way I've learnt to understand my cycles is tracking on the Flo app and really getting to know my cervical mucus changes. I found a few books helpful (im in the UK so not sure where you guys are based so may not be able to get them)... Firstly one called The Gynae Geek which is written by an Obstetrician and the 2nd is Period Power by Maisie Hill (both can be found on Instagram). These helped me understand my cycles and my body.

I was lucky that I decided come off my pill after 9yrs in 2016 due to mental health struggles (which improved after stopping) and I was surprised how up an down I felt each month so I started looking in it cycles then... So now we're TTC it's made it a bit easier to get an idea of where I am in my cycle.

Hope these help xx

Sausage1990 · 14/01/2020 22:05

Also on a different note... My DH is working away mid-week this week and for the next 2 weeks and only home on the weekends which is not ideal for baby making!!!

Ive had a quick check of my estimated fertile window (which is usually correct give or take 1-2days) and my "ovulation day" falls on the Sunday... But could be before or after - we literally have 3 days to BD (Friday-Sunday) this month and that's it. We can't do any more even if we wanted to because he's not here ☹️ such a slim chance this month for us!!

Let's hope it's enough 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 22:11

@jenna30 only since the end of November! So really not long at all. It just feels like forever.

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 22:27

This is a positive OPK yeah? Or am I still not getting how they work 😂

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 22:30

@Sausage1990 ooh thanks for the book suggestions! Will definitely take a look.
Ahh how frustrating your DH is away. But at least he’s home for the approximate ovulation day!
You’re going to have a busy weekend!! But fingers crossed that it’s enough

Vikki90 · 15/01/2020 07:53

@peachypetite @Sausage1990 @FirsttimeTTC hi guys! Thanks for your replies - I think this whole TTC is sending me insane haha! I have been tracking my cycles on Flo (I am from England too) and have even tried the clear blue ovulation sticks the last couple of cycles (keep getting the flashing smiley but no peak static smiley) not sure if anyone has experience of using these? Hopefully we all manage to conceive soon! I think I just am feeling the pressure as my best friend and sister in law got pregnant on the first go so you kind of start to think is this ever gonna happen for me! Nice to speak to people in the same position though! Xx

Vikki90 · 15/01/2020 07:54

This looks positive to me! Can I ask which sticks you are using as I want to try something different - clear blue is like paying for a second mortgage 🤣 xx

FirsttimeTTC · 15/01/2020 09:58

@Vikki90 oh I know! Clear blue is soo expensive. I’m not sure what they are called but they were a pack of 50 for £7 or something like that! Have a look on amazon!

Sophietcc · 15/01/2020 10:45

@FirsttimeTTC definitely a positive!

Sophietcc · 15/01/2020 10:52

Hi ladies can i join please?

I came of the pill in October and no luck so far. This cycle I've taken a more relaxed approach to ttc and rather than track ovulation properly i have just bd every other day. Though i did start opk testing a few days ago around the ovulation day according to my app but it came up negative. So going to keep testing and bd'ing every other day. Baby dust to everyone!

carrot88 · 15/01/2020 11:49

I'd like to join too please ladies if possible?

We only started trying this month but it's amazing how it becomes so obsessive so quickly! I'm 39 and the DH is 40 so we know we are statistically likely to take a while to conceive...currently in the 2WW - think I am about 4DPO currently but because I didn't test I don't entirely know! I guess I just wait to see if AF arrives!

I've been using Flo for a few months to try and track ovulation dates but I've not been doing any OPK testing - do I need to start doing that? Thinking of trying the SMEP method next month if this cycle isn't successful.

So nice to have people in the same boat to talk to - we haven't told anyone we are TTC - mostly I think to avoid any expectations or awkward conversations if it doesn't happen...

hannah17381 · 15/01/2020 13:05

@carrot88 yay another older person!
I'm hoping we can beat the take longer trend. I don't think my sanity can take a long wait. I ended up a little TTC crazy last time.
I'm about to turn 39 and trying for number 1 child
Xx
