Hi guys

Not sure about anyone else but i have found that that i have tried posting on various threads and sometimes your own post gets really lost which can be slightly disheartening. I thought i would start this thread for anyone who has just started their TTC journey and together we can share our thoughts and experiences.... i do ask that (not to be mean) that this thread is only for people who have just started their TTC journey to avoid disappointment for people who are way into their journey and who may be experiencing different things. My own story is that i came of the pill in September and have yet to get my BFP. I got my first positive on Saturday just gone and now im 1dpo. Be great to hear from anyone in a similiar boat! Xx

@peachypetite sex can become so clinical. Ive been feeling down today anyway and because of that I've hardly spoken to dh hence the reluctance to be like 'hey lets bd'. So difficult.

Oh no, down about TTC or something else? It really can, can’t it, it’s nice having people on here to talk to about it. I’ve not told anyone in real life that we are trying because I don’t want the pressure

Sausage1990 · 13/01/2020 01:47

Hi @jenna30 sorry for the delay in my reply. Ive not been on for a day or 2 just chilling post period...

Af arrived for me 6 days late... As I'd had a positive test the previous week I was really quite upset but my OH was great and just gave me lots of hugs while I had a bit of a sad day. I would have been 5 weeks the day af arrived which I know is early but we'd had a week of trying to not get ahead of ourselves because it was a faint positive but so totally getting ahead of ourselves (if you know what I mean).

Anyway af arrived and I'm now on CD 8 and about 13 - 15 days until ovulation. I have longer cycles at around 35days so I've got a few weeks to go yet. So just trying to relax and look after myself. How are you Jenna?

I totally get where you're coming from after your SILs announcement... Such lovely news but bitter sweet for you too. Friends of ours just announced their 2nd pregnancy and where like it happened really quickly, quicker than we thought. Both their pregnancies were conceived 1st try which is such a blessing... Its just hard not to ask why can't we be so lucky.
It's a funny head space but doesn't mean you're not happy for them.

I'm just glad this is a safe space to share all those thoughts and feelings without judgement ❤️

jenna30 · 13/01/2020 08:49

@Sausage1990 awh I'm sorry to hear that af arrived. My cycle have been around 30/31 days so not too far off from you. It helps when oh's are supportive. Everyone has down days and its fine to feel like that. Im glad like you said that we have this group where we can vent which helps.

Once my af around last cycle i went all quiet too on the group. I found out it easy to chill for awhile once af arrives because theres nothing you can do for a week or so and then the whole process starts again. Wishing you lots of baby dust for this cycle.

@peachypetite i was down because of sil annoucement. But feel much better today a new day and a new start.

Its better not tell anyone because then you don't have that pressure. We haven't told anyone either (thank god). So when sil made the announcement i would've felt a lot worse if she knew we were trying.

@jenna30 yeah for sure. I think keeping this ttc journey a secret is difficult in many ways but it does take the pressure off. Im trying to see it as when we do conceive we'll be able to surprise our friends and family with happy news that they're not expecting.

Do you think your families may have an inkling that you're trying or thinking of trying soon?

I was chatting to my sister the other day after visiting our mutual friends new baby girl and we were discussing our cousins (we're all girls and within a similar age range) and she said I think we're all going to have babies around the same time. I was like oh do you that's interesting and she said yes well 2 of the girls want to be married 1st (and neither are engaged) and I need to meet someone 1st then our other 2 cousins aren't in any rush as they're enjoying travelling with their OH (husband and fiancé), and you're not in any rush because you've got home reno stuff happening soon so I think we'll all be later.... I was like hmm yeah true we will all be together.

I was really surprised about her observations because I thought she would guess... Apparently not. My broodiness is apparently internal and no-one noticed how the little broody monster inside was purring happily while I was cuddling my friends 4 weeks of daughter!!! 😉

jenna30 · 13/01/2020 10:00

So awhile go last year in fact i mentioned in passing to my SIL that we would be ready to try in a year. But she or anyone else dont know that we've actively been trying the last few months which is a blessing to be honest. After she made her announcement she did say "oh you guys need to bring your a game because her baby will need friends" and i was thinking i wish you have no idea. I guess its a blessing for you also that following your conversation with your sister she has no inclination that you guys are trying. It helps when no one knows. TTC is already stressful without having other people knowing you are trying. That's why im thankful for this group i guess because we can all relate to each other.

k so I went worried about my cycles and came out with a referral to have a colonoscopy done 😒. Let me explain 😁.

I noticed some black tarry substance in my poop(TMI SRY😔) and my OBGYN is worried the my Endometriosis is flaring up and since it can dump blood ANYWHERE in the body, she wants to be sure it didn't go there and she wants to check for other causes of old blood being there.

So I did do a complete blood to check for pregnancy as well as my Progesterone levels(because the older we get the lower our progesterone gets). Since I'm 38 my strange cycle the past 2 and now may be due to low Progesterone. So she up'ed it from 200 to 400mg every day instead of on cd13-25.

I call tomorrow for my results and then go back Wednesday for a sonogram so that she can check to make sure I don't have any cysts(I had that when she first met me and then quickly diagnosed me with Endometriosis).

It would be nice to hear I gotta go back to check my HCG levels 🤞🏽.

jenna30 · 14/01/2020 12:35

@peachypetite i know and that that it has become a chore. This cycle i have opk tested much and instead i have just been trying to dtd every other day during my fertile window. I plan on continuing this until af arrives in case i have ovulated later. When i tested last cycle on cd15 i had a positive but this cycle i haven't had one unless i ovulated earlier in the month (i hope i didn't). Sorry if you have mentioned this earlier but where are you in your cycle?

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 12:44

Quick question - how long after seeing EWCM for the first time do you ovulate?
If it’s straight away I’m worried because we didn’t BD last night but we did for the two days before?

jenna30 · 14/01/2020 12:48

@FirsttimeTTC i don't think there is a definite answer ( if anyone else knows please do tell) but from other threads i have read some people get ewcm for a couple of days and as soon as you notice it you should BD that day. I would say bd on the day you have noticed it and maybe the day after? To cover all bases. If you keep seeing it for a few days i would bd every other day until it clears up. Sorry if i wasn't much help i also asked the same thing two days ago.

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 14:03

@jenna30 ahhh perfect! Thank you so much

jenna30 · 14/01/2020 14:34

@FirsttimeTTC found this on another thread.

According to the aforementioned fertility bible TCOYF you should keep having sex while you have EGCM until it disappears. The day of ovulation is the last day of fertile quality cervical fluid. Its tricky because you only know when the last day was after EWCM has disappeared!

Its definitely the BD before EGCM that counts, you want the sperm to be in there ready and waiting for the emerging egg.

Hi @jenna30 and @FirsttimeTTC. I dont think this is much help as it can differ from Person to person. But for me EWCM lasts for about 5 days. But varies in consistency for those days. I usually get a slight twinge when i ovulate and its usually towards the end of the EWCM. And also CM turns more like water. This is supposedly most fertile. Sorry if its not much use!!

jenna30 · 14/01/2020 14:43

@Lucy5546 its really nice to hear from you. Thank you for the input. How are you feeling?

OP posts:
Lucy5546 · 14/01/2020 14:52

@jenna30 i told you i would be sticking around. I like this thread so i want to see all thw outcomes. Im feeling ok. I think im just over 6 weeks now. Still no major symptoms jist constantly tired. Trying to keep myself busy for the next few weeks. Are are you?

jenna30 · 14/01/2020 15:10

@Lucy5546 you did say that! Awh have you booked in for your first scan yet? Glad to hear that you are well minus the tiredness. Im okay. Ive decided to take a relaxed approach and just BD every other day throughout this cycle. Though i did do an opk test on cd15 which was yesterday and it was negative even though it was positive last cycle. I guess ill wait and see what happens. I think you were out first BFP on this group. Hope we all get one soon so that we can join you.

OP posts:
FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 15:17

@jenna30 @Lucy5546 thank you both! This TTC business is so confusing. I’ll just keep BDing as much as we can 😂 very tiring!

peachypetite · 14/01/2020 16:00

My app suggested ovulation at the weekend on Sunday but I’ve noticed EWCM yesterday and today. Guess I should dtd tonight too?!

peachypetite · 14/01/2020 16:03

@jenna30 today is 14.

Lucy5546 · 14/01/2020 16:03

@jenna30 yes i have. Just waiting on a daye now. Where i am the first scan isnt until around 12 weeks so i have another while to go yet.
I took a relaxed approach last month and that seemed to have worked for me. I just feel blessed that it happened so quick for me so just praying now it sticks. Still doesnt feel real.
@FirsttimeTTC i was a bit like that. Have you read about the SMEP method? You should look at it. Thats what we followed last month

jenna30 · 14/01/2020 16:04

@peachypetite i would.

OP posts:
Lucy5546 · 14/01/2020 16:05

@peachypetite i would be relying on my body more than the app as the app is just an estimate. Ovulation does not have to be the same day each month it can vary. So if i was you i would tey DTD every day you have EWCM

peachypetite · 14/01/2020 16:08

Thanks. Yeh I’m definitely not using the app as a given. I think looking at EWCM in conjunction will be my best hope for now. Don’t want to resort to opks yet. Can anyone explain SMEP to be in more detail? I don’t really get how it’s different to having lots of sex?!

Lucy5546 · 14/01/2020 16:13

@peachypetite its not much different to be honest. Its just basically DTD every other day but every day around ovulation then back to every other day. Its designed so you wont miss ovulation. Its just means there will always be sperm there to meet the egg as its released. Not sure if thats a good explanation or not. Sorry ha!!

FirsttimeTTC · 14/01/2020 16:25

@lucy5546 ahh thank you for explaining SMEP. Maybe we will give that a go. This cycle we have been doing it every other day anyway except once we did it 2 days in a row (the spontaneity made TTC feel less clinical) so maybe now that I’ve got ewcm I should start doing it daily.
