Join here please! I’m still taking my pill at the moment but current packet runs out on 7th Jan so planning to start then but not really track anything officially. I’ve been reading up about conception vitamins and going to buy some this week to start taking after new year- does anyone have recommendations for particular brands?
Will be my first but partners 2nd, very nervous but excited at the same time. No idea what to expect but hoping to have some ladies in the same situation to chat to!

Can I join? We've just started trying for baby number 2. Stopped my pill on the 17th January. I was on Cerazette so no idea how long it will take things to get back to normal but considering my age (I'm 37) thought we'd better crack on with it. If I'm honest I'm more nervous and anxious this time than the first time being 2 years older. I've just been taking Folic Acid and Vitamin D.

MummyMooCow · 22/01/2020 11:29

Had my implant out end of November 😁 I'm so excited to start trying.
I've been taking pregnacare but they make me feel a little yucky unless I eat a huge breakfast. Might start taking them with my evening meal instead.
I test again early February, can't wait. Anyone else?

professorastrocat · 22/01/2020 13:02

I don't think I'd be able to guess properly so I'll be using opks every month @Ginger87 , even though I'm pretty regular with everything you just never know!
I'm also 37 @LynseyLou1982 so I'll join you in the anxiousness. Esp as my oh is 41. Also trying for no 2

LynseyLou1982 · 22/01/2020 13:14

@professorastrocat thanks, its nice to have an anxiousness buddy. We were really lucky the first time and it only took one cycle go so I think that's put more pressure on this time.

Lola871 · 22/01/2020 19:58

Started to get lines on my OPKs! Woohoo, that's a positive sign 🤣

Was hoping to DTD today but OH has gone out and is out again tomorrow which is annoying. Ov not due for a few more days though so will make up for it over the weekend!

charlesthekudu · 22/01/2020 22:42

I'm going to try the SMEP plan next month. Sex every other day from day 8 in your cycle. Then day ten start also using OPKs. When you get a positive have sex three dats in a row, skip a day then sex one more time. Then 15 days after that first OPK you can use a pregnancy test. Seems pretty simple

professorastrocat · 22/01/2020 22:53

@charlesthekudu I was thinking the same...is the plan you've said based on a 28 day cycle ? I'm on day 7 tomo and have 25/26 day cycles. Confused

charlesthekudu · 23/01/2020 08:18

@professorastrocat yes I think it's pretty much based on a 28 day cycle. An even lower key method is simply sex every other day from the end of your period right up to your next period. Theoretically that's also pretty failproof, but I like the concentrated effort I get with OPKs and also the timeline of when I can test. My periods are slightly irregular varying from 32-36 day cycles so I'd rather count DPO than suspect my period is late when it may just be a slightly longer cycle month for me.

Morning!

Does anyone know maternity leave rights?? How long do you have to be there before being pregnant to qualify?

I want to leave my job but need to work out, how it affects ttc

JaffaCakeGal · 23/01/2020 09:39

@FootballandBeer145 basically you have to be employed when you conceive - when you look at the dates - www.gov.uk/employers-maternity-pay-leave/eligibility-and-proof-of-pregnancy

There's a bit more to it than that obviously Smile and you can claim maternity allowance if you don't qualify for stat maternity pay.

JaffaCakeGal · 23/01/2020 09:42

Nothing to report with me, I'm in my fertile window according to Ovia so we DTD lots but then we do usually anyway Grin oh and I quit smoking yesterday as I'd rather do it before getting my BFP than when it happens!

FootballAndBeer145 · 23/01/2020 09:46

@JaffaCakeGal thank you! I was getting confused when looking, I feel I might be better off trying to stick this job out and not return!

AngelSon · 23/01/2020 11:31

Hi all!

I started my TTC journey at the end of last year also. Had my withdrawal bleed about 2/3 days after stopping my pill and started my first period after that on Friday 3rd January. I've been using the OPK One Step strips and also have the ClearBlue digital tests as wanting to map out my cycle and ovulation patterns. On CD 14 today and whilst I am seeing the test line get darker on the One Step tests I have still not had a positive yet. I am not the most patient person and would love to see that positive line / smiley face.. hoping it does happen this month. How long did it take you to get a positive reading after coming off the pill? I've been on the pill around 8 years up until this point and I am 25 now, healthy and do not smoke.

Thanks! :)

lucymagoo · 23/01/2020 13:38

Good luck quitting @JaffaCakeGal! You can do it Star

eitak22 · 23/01/2020 17:40

AF has finally showed up! Cany believe I'm happy about it lol

lucymagoo · 23/01/2020 21:52

Congrats @eitak22 😂
I thought I had mine but it was just a day of spotting and nothing else. Feeling so impatient 😖

yoomoo · 24/01/2020 08:05

Hi all, just catching up been super busy at work this week so haven’t had time, currently on the train so thought I’d pop on! Hope you are all well, welcome to the newbies Smile

Nothing really to update from me, 5 weeks since coming off the pill and no signs of anything! No withdrawal bleed, negative pregnancy tests so I’m just hanging around waiting to see what my body is up to. I’m not the most patient person in the world so it’s starting to get annoying, I just want the bleed done then I can track my cycle! I’ve had all the PMT symptoms and I keep thinking I’ve come on as it feels ‘wet’ down there (hopefully you all know what I mean 😂) but so far nothing 🤷🏼‍♀️

Not a very exciting update, I think I’m going to start another thread to ask people’s experiences on TTC and coming off the pill as need to know I’m not alone!

@yoomoo I know it must be frustrating for you! I might have mentioned further up the thread that last time I had a pill break it took 6 months for my period to come back - I have no idea why it happened so quickly this time. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that you aren't waiting much longer!

rhirhibumblebee · 24/01/2020 13:18

Afternoon, how is everyone? I've had a busy week at work and today spending my day off watching films with my 2 year old as I feel RUBBISH. Just really tired and run down! AF is nearing the end though so I'm hoping I'll feel better over the weekend!

@EffRam That would be cool!
@LynseyLou1982 Welcome! Yes I'm more nervous this time!
@MummyMooCow Hey! Yes I've heard of other people find that with pregnacare, I find them ok but I do tend to take them after lunch.
@Lola871 Good luck!
@JaffaCakeGal Good luck! And well done with the smoking, that can't be easy... go you!!
@AngelSon I haven't used them myself so not sure but fingers crossed for the smiley face!
@eitak22 That's good!
@yoomoo Ahh man, hopefully turns up soon.

butterflylove81 · 24/01/2020 13:28

Hey, I fancied a name change I was loveandsparkles. I've just finished my period I found it really emotional quite bad pmt this month. According to Ovia I'm fertile in 5 days would you start using ovulation sticks in 3 or 4 days in case you ovulated early? Or just wait until next wed

LynseyLou1982 · 24/01/2020 13:58

@rhirhibumblebee I'm still waiting for any sort of AF to arrive but then it's only been a week since I stopped the pill. I keep reading these horror stories about it taking ages for them to come back. I hate not being in control. Just bought some OPK's which I didn't do the first time round but not sure I'll be able to use them properly as I've no idea where I am in the cycle. I just want some re-assurance that all is OK as I'm terrified my ovaries have decided to pack it in. I went on Cerzaette to try and control my raging PMT every month which worked a charm but now I've stopped it the PMT is back with vengeance.

charlesthekudu · 24/01/2020 14:03

@butterflylove81 if you r got the cheap OPK strips I'd just start right away if you think you're going to ovulate so soon

butterflylove81 · 24/01/2020 21:31

There was a negative on the ovulation stick but we've dtd for the first time in 6 months amazingly I managed to get both kids to sleep by 8pm not sure if that will happen again here's hoping xxxx

butterflylove81 · 24/01/2020 21:32

I'm going to buy new underwater tomorrow try and seduce my heart out haha

butterflylove81 · 25/01/2020 08:02

Lyndseylou I was on cerazette and got pregnant quickly last time I was also around your age (36)
