@rathernotshare We're in a similar position to you, I m 25 next month and DH is 28, most of our friends are in relationships but they've all said children are far in the future for them. I've not wanted to tell any of them that we're trying in case it takes a while, we're on month 3 now.

I stopping taking the pill years ago so we just used condoms before ttc but my cycle went back to normal the month after I stopped the pill so hopefully its not long for you to wait.

Anny27 · 19/02/2020 22:51

Evening ladies! 2dpo today and have asked my DH to hide the one test I have in the house so that I wont be tempted to test. I have set an alarm on my phone for the 2and March when my AF will be late so i will test then providing AF doesnt show!

@whatsthecraic91 that must be so frustrating for you not knowing how many dpo you are. But yes good idea to test on the weekend when you would be either 17dpo or 9! You will know if you ovulated late that way

@Lottiepink yeah sometimes I get a day of positives and sometimes I dknt catch it atall haha! Sorry temps have dropped :(

@kiza yeah I reckon my surge must have been super quick this month! Mmmm I would say the spotting is probably because your cervix was aggravated. Whenever I get a smear I get brown spotting and then I have 0 spotting before AF starts. It's as if all the old blood has been cleaned out.

@lozzlepop ahh how do you feel about not trying before the wedding? I wouldn't go back on the pill but that's a personal choice because I dont like it haha. But condoms for a year might be tiresome!

@MIW01 are you allowed to try before your op in march?

About the caffeine - I read that 1 cup of coffee is fine and the amount in chocolate is negligible compared to one cup of coffee so as I dont drink coffee I will be okay replacing it with my numerous chocolate bars 🤣🤣

whatsthecraic91 · 20/02/2020 07:35

@rathernotshare have you had your first AF yet since stopping the pill? I am 28 and DP is 35 and he has a 6 year old DS, only one of my close friends has a baby, all the rest of the ones from my year at school are Peter pans and have no notion of settling down 😂 so I have no one to talk to either really!

@Kiza yea I said to my GP about my spotting before AF and they weren't concerned either but I read everywhere it's low hormones so 🤷🏼‍♀️ hopefully not too long to you see your consultant again.

@1990shopefulftm I'm not too bad with chocolate I would definitely give it up if it was the choice between it and crisps - I love crisps 😂

@Anny27 giving DP the tests is defo the way forward, I would have definitely caved by now if I could get to them 😂 he will give me them on Saturday morning! Yea I don't know what the hell happened this cycle! I think it was a combination of being away and stressing a bit. 3rd morning in a row of sweating when I wake and my temp is way up this morning, and a tad crampy today so far so I am trying my best not to get my hopes up. I could be just getting sick I suppose but hopefully not 🤞🏼😁

Lozzlepop · 20/02/2020 08:31

Morning ladies,

Absolutely horrible day here again, will it ever stop raining?? Off to see the Lion King tonight so very excited for that 😀

@Lottiepink Its been fantastic lol! we are probably thinking April of next year so we are going to view our first lot of venues this weekend 😀I never actually had any issues being on the pill and didn't get periods so it was great.

@whatsthecraic91yes next spring is the ideal. Its not actually the waiting that is bothering me its the sex between now and then 😂getting absolutely nothing out of it with condoms and thats making DF feel bad so sort of a vicious circle and thats what made me think about going back on the pill but I guess you are right it could take longer to regulate my hormones in the future!

@MIW01 we have a fairly healthy diet, eat meat free at least 3 times a week and dont really eat red meat/ everything is cooked from scratch etc/ dont drink fizzy juice but biscuits are our downfall 😂

@rathernotshare welcome to the chat ☺️

@Kiza a balloon???? there was no mention of anyone blowing a balloon up inside me 😂jeezo its like the worst fairground ride ever! I dont have any valium so I guess i will need to wing it, dont like the sound of these after cramps though! Yeah we are currently taking no chances and using condoms everytime as we got caught out with early ovulation last time

@Anny27 its not so much the not trying- I know why DF doesn't want to try again incase something bad happens on the potential run up to the big day and I totally get it. We have the blood clotting test mid April and have to test positive twice, the tests are 6 - 12 weeks apart so I really dont see us getting any definitive answers before the end of July/ August.

1990shopefulftm · 20/02/2020 08:42

@whatsthecraic91 i've always seen crisps as not as bad as chocolate as they're technically from a vegetable.

MIW01 · 20/02/2020 13:00

Ah @Lozzlepop the meat thing is a bone of contention (excuse the pun) but that's where there's a lot of agreeing to disagree going on. I think good quality, sustainably sourced meat and fish is very important for a healthy balanced diet especially for hormone balancing as hormones are predominantly made out of fat and they provide the full protein spectrum.

MIW01 · 20/02/2020 13:09

@Anny27 we're not using protection but tbh nothing has happened yet so not expecting it to now. Though I'm mid cycle and have had some spotting today!

Kiza · 20/02/2020 14:08

@Anny27 that would make sense but it happened open Xmas too around o, plus a week before AF last cycle too? That's good willpower to not test and get DH to hide it also... just need the willpower to not buy a cheapie from a chemist 😄

@whatsthecraic91 yeah hopefully not long 🤞🏼
@Lozzlepop haha you make me laugh! Yeah the balloon is apparently a lot nicer than the old fashioned clamps they used to put on your cervix to prevent the dye flowing back out! Sounds medieval! Some women don't have cramps at all and tbf it I took paracetamol I wouldn't feel them but I'm one of those hippies that tries to not put chemicals inside me unless I'm desperate!

ToCaden · 20/02/2020 14:36

Greatly admire those of you holding off on testing. This two week wait is trying my willpower. Had some spotting accompanied by a strange stabbing pulling feeling in my right side which hasn't happened in any of the previous cycles, but trying not to read into it so I'm not too disappointed.

rathernotshare · 20/02/2020 17:37

@1990shopefulftm I'm finding it hard to keep quiet as everyone has been asking since the day we got married!! We went to Mexico for our honeymoon so I've told a white lie and said you can't try for a whole year due to zika to get them off our backs!! I do know people with kids but not enough to confide in them. Fingers crossed my period goes back to normal quickly. Due any day now so we'll see how these 11 years on it have affected me

@whatsthecraic91 what is an AF? Blush none of my close friends have any but I'm starting to see what I consider "new" couples my age popping them out and starting to feel (ashamedly) resentful. We've been together 8 years now, I feel like it's our turn! Grin

MIW01 · 20/02/2020 18:00

Welcome @rathernotshare AF means Aunt Flow aka period, time of the month, menstrual cycle. Some of us have been TTC for a good long while and having our fair share of issues and experiences but between us all we're learning a lot! We're 34 been with my fiance 8 years - he proposed on Christmas day just gone. We're 1 of the last couples to start trying in our group of friends with several already woth number 2 on the way!

rathernotshare · 20/02/2020 18:05

@MIW01 ah thank you! No I am still awaiting AF, never been so eager before Grin fingers crossed for all of you! Ah that's lovely, belated congratulations Thanks have you shared with your friends that you are trying? I wish we had anyone to ask tips other than the well known 'do a handstand afterwords' ... is that a genuine thing?!

MIW01 · 20/02/2020 18:17

@rathernotshare haha! Yes that's a common 1! Some say it's the way to go and others say no difference. Let's just say I wouldn't recommend sex standing up as a form of contraception! We have told some friends of family as I'm having a hysteroscopy (minor Op) to remove a polyp (benign tumour) in my womb.

rathernotshare · 20/02/2020 18:30

@MIW01 I do worry about how long it will take given how inconsistent I have been at taking contraception for 10+ years and managed to not have a single scare! Oh I hope that all goes well for you xx

FarmerWantsABaby · 20/02/2020 18:54

@whatsthecraic91 I rang mid Ulster women's clinic today, I didn't really understand what they were telling me, I grasped that they are not entirely a fertility clinic but they can do scans etc? So I'm no further forward. Might ring my GP practice and see if I can get talking to my GP about how long the waiting list is around here and would he recommend any private doctors.
AF came on Saturday and she's out for a vengeance this month 😓
Feeling so lost at the minute waiting on a fecking referral letter and not know how long it's going to take!!

whatsthecraic91 · 20/02/2020 18:56

@Lozzlepop I know condoms are a pain in the ass and make it rubbish too! I still eat red meat I didn't know this was a thing?

@Kiza oh god the clamps sound absolutely horrible 😓 good thing they aren't used anymore or I wouldn't be getting mine!!

@ToCaden when is AF due? How many DPO are you?

@rathernotshare we are a great group of ladies here and we all learn so much from each other and they are a brilliant support! It's lovely having someone to talk to going through the same journey!

whatsthecraic91 · 20/02/2020 18:58

Forgot to add, I have been so pissy today, I just feel rage, shooty pains in boobs and some cramps, so tired too, I can't wait to testing day 🤞🏼

whatsthecraic91 · 20/02/2020 19:02

@FarmerWantsABaby no they aren't a fertility clinic but they can do a scan to make sure all looks normal and healthy. That's what my GP had referred me for but I wasn't waiting a year for it! and then after the scan you are put on the waiting list for the HSG test. My GP told me the waiting list was 12 weeks and when I rang it was 1 year +
So sorry AF has shown up! Have some wine and chocolate 😊

1990shopefulftm · 20/02/2020 19:14

@rathernotshare we re fortunate in that no one has really asked since we got married and it's been over 2 years.

ToCaden · 20/02/2020 19:29

@whatsthecraic91

Af is due Monday, so I'm 10dpo.

@FarmerWantsABaby

Sorry that Af came for you. Hope you get a bit of luck with seeking fertility help.

FarmerWantsABaby · 20/02/2020 19:33

@whatsthecraic91 @ToCaden
Thanks ladies! It was expected to be honest, I know something isn't right! My mum was put on fertility medication to conceive me and my siblings so I always suspected I'd be down the same route for some reason. One year!!!! One year!!!!???? What if it's just the likes of clomid that is needed? Is there seriously a 1 year waiting list for that initial consultation and scan? 😭😥 my bloods had shown that I might not be ovulating. I naively thought the GP would just prescribe whatever medication is suggested to encourage ovulation and go from there if necessary 😬🙈

whatsthecraic91 · 20/02/2020 19:44

@ToCaden when are you testing?

@FarmerWantsABaby I know - 1 year I nearly died when I phoned up! Ring the hospital you have been referred to and ask how long. Not sure if a GP can prescribe clomid or not. Maybe some of the other ladies can answer that one.

MIW01 · 20/02/2020 19:53

@whatsthecraic91 well sourced quality red meat has lots of benefits for fertility. There's lots of fertility specialists out there who support this (a quick google search brings them up) & Nina Teicholz has done some very interesting research on red meat in general!

FarmerWantsABaby · 20/02/2020 19:55

@whatsthecraic91 I'm stuck on that one as my GP asked me if I would rather Altnagelvin or Belfast. I said Altnagelvin and he said he couldn't guarantee that there would be a dr there willing to take me on so 🤷🏼‍♀️ no further forward! How annoying is the whole process!?

whatsthecraic91 · 20/02/2020 20:10

@MIW01 oh that's good as we eat red meat or chicken 6/7 nights then we have fish once a week!

@FarmerWantsABaby I thought I had been referred to the RFC @ the royal and I rang them and they were able to tell me I was actually referred to Antrim so maybe ring Belfast and then they can tell you otherwise. It's all very frustrating!!
