Being unrealistic with myself

ScaredFlamingo · 21/10/2019 20:52

Wondering if anyone else experienced this... I am already setting unrealistic expectations for myself. I had my coil out 2 weeks ago, had sex maybe twice since and for some reason am disappointed I am not pregnant ... any tips on how to not do this to myself??

@goodforbrian1988 Maybe, time will tell I guess. I did some reading around MCs and I came across stories of other women who said they didn't feel that upset about theirs, even thought the pregnancy was wanted. It seems that everyone reacts differently.
For me the pregnancy never felt "real" i.e. it never progressed past two lines on a test and a late period, and I didn't allow myself to be excited about the future, in case this happened. When it happened it was just like getting my period, not the intense pain/heavy bleeding that you'd get if the pregnancy was further along.
Anyway, I don't mean to hijack the thread. Sending good wishes to all TTC peeps.

I'm off the pill but can't start trying as my periods haven't returned. I feel like it's all supposed to work but nothing goes to plan.

Peaceandloves · 25/10/2019 19:13

Keep trying even if your periods haven't returned as you may still ovulate. I'm 12dpo and got my positive test today xxx

goodforbrian · 25/10/2019 20:02

@Overthinker1988 It sounds like you are very logical, it's admirable. I really hope the next few months are easier on you and you get you BFP and it sticks 🤞🏽 Take care of yourself x

@SunshineAlways I know how you feel! The waiting game is so intense. It will come for you soon hopefully and you can start planning ahead and begin trying for your BFP!

@Peaceandloves Congratulations!! May I ask, how did you track ovulation without a period to chart it? Did you use the ovulation sticks? Thank you 😊

SunshineAlways · 25/10/2019 20:08

Thanks @goodforbrian. It's a strange thing, waiting for your body to do something you have no control over.

I'm mindful that I could be waiting weeks or months and no one (eg doctors) can tell me one way or another.

goodforbrian · 25/10/2019 20:42

@SunshineAlways I understand, I really do. Before AF came for me today I was in the same predicament. When you want a baby so badly but you feel like you can't do anything about it. It's so hard to feel let down by your own body 😥 But as PP said, you could very well still be ovulating even without having a period. So have lots of sex (lol) and maybe, hopefully, you will get a nice surprise (BFP!) and all this worrying will feel like a distant memory. I'll keep everything crossed for you 🤞🏽

Peaceandloves · 25/10/2019 21:20

@goodforbrian yes I just used the sticks everyday. I was moreso hoping to just get a clue as to whether anything at all was happening but I had one day peak and we dtd that day. I only bought cheap ones x

goodforbrian · 25/10/2019 21:51

@Peaceandloves oh wow that is really uplifting that it can happen so quick and that the sticks work so well! I will be doing exactly that this month and hope I get a BFP too! Congrats again and thank you for the help x

Deli111 · 26/10/2019 08:02

Congratulations! I love hearing that. How long were you off the pill? I’m still waiting for af xxx

Peaceandloves · 26/10/2019 09:58

Took my last pill 28/9 ovulation sticks said I was peaking on 13/10 and most likely that day or next. I used an app called Clue to track everything to help me try and work out a cycle and it was rly useful otherwise I wouldn't have known to even test

Peaceandloves · 26/10/2019 10:00

You've got to ovulate before AF so that there's an egg to leave your system and create a period. I think tracking ovulation felt a bit more positive and once you know you've ovukated you know you are in a cycle x

ScaredFlamingo · 29/10/2019 12:17

How is everyone?
Still no period for me... about 3 days late now. Test said negative but doctors asked me to do another one in a week if no period!
And I might have a fibroid in my womb.. anyone know anything about them?

Deli111 · 29/10/2019 13:08

Hi, I still haven’t gotten my period since stopping the pill. Soooo annoying. I can’t really ttc until it arrives...
I don’t know anything about fibroids but I hope you get your bfp soon x

SunshineAlways · 29/10/2019 19:41

Nothing from me either. But I think something is happening since I've had pain in my left side a bit like cramp pains.

ScaredFlamingo · 30/10/2019 10:01

Period started for me last night. I can now enjoy all the sushi, wine and soft cheese for next few days haha!

@ScaredFlamingo yay! At least you can chart your cycle now and properly get down to DTD 😊 I am in my fertile week with ovulation being on Thursday. I am planning on DTD every other day for the next week or so and hopefully I'll get my BFP! Last month we had sex twice on the day of ovulation and no BFP so I am trying a different tactic haha.

MrsF94 · 04/11/2019 22:05

Hi, joining in as think I'm in the same boat!
Stopped my pill 19th sept, finished withdrawal bleed as normal on 28th September and a hugggge amount of nothing since! No bleeding, possibly the odd random slight cramp (but could be making those up). Boobs sore for past couple of days... although hubby mentioned that could be from over amorous DTD so who knows!!! Ha sorry TMI
Trying to relax and enjoy it all but it's so hard isn't it! I know I'm so early on in this and statistically speaking, my chances are as good as anyone else's but my god it's a minefield isn't it. Driving myself crazy already!! X

Deli111 · 05/11/2019 07:39

I finally got my period.... it came on the 2nd November so now I can start ttc, which is great.

goodforbrian · 05/11/2019 10:41

@Deli111 Yay! I bet you've e never been so happy to come on lol
@MrsF94 Welcome! It seems we are all in the same boat, let's hope this month brings us all our BFPs! I'm excited I am ovulation week but I know what follows (the TWW) will drive me insane! Last month I went through 4 pregnancy tests just to come on exactly when I was supposed to 🙈

goodforbrian · 14/11/2019 10:56

Hello everyone! This thread has gone very quiet and I am hoping that is good news and no one has had to vent too much this month! How is everyone doing? A week today I can take a pregnancy test! I've been much more chilled this month and actually waiting until my period is due before POAS!! X

ScaredFlamingo · 14/11/2019 16:35

@goodforbrian I DTD just before ovulation, so now its the waiting game....! The worst bit...!! Ahh fingers crossed!!!

OP posts:
goodforbrian · 14/11/2019 20:15

@ScaredFlamingo Me too! We missed actual ovulation day but managed to DTD twice the day before! Yes fingers crossed for us both 🤞🏽 When will you be taking a test?

ScaredFlamingo · 14/11/2019 20:23

@goodforbrian in just under 2 weeks... this wait is the worst; just want to know now!

27andcounting · 14/11/2019 20:40

Can I join! Actually thought it was just me! Promised myself I wouldn’t over think everything. I’ve been off the pill since April but this is my first ovulation since trying and I’m putting so much pressure on myself and each day seems to drag.

goodforbrian · 14/11/2019 20:49

@ScaredFlamingo I know exactly how you feel! The tww is just the worst! Try and keep yourself busy and not think about it too much (I wish I could take my own advise!) I was fine last week but this week I can slowly feel myself losing the plot again 😂🙈
Hi @27andcounting yes I know all about the pressure! I was very vocal in telling my family that I would be pregnant before Christmas (Pah! What did I know!) and now we are getting closer I feel the want and need for a BFP getting stronger and stronger! It's crazy isn't it?
