@KatBeCool - so happy for you!! 😊

Mrs71 · 12/10/2019 09:07

@starkid least it's over with. Hopefully you'll have your results soon.

@KatBeCool that's good news!! Good Luck. 😊

That's great news @KatBeCool.

I had an appointment this morning with the endocrinologist I saw privately. It turns out I am slightly vitamin D deficient. Even though I've been taking Pregnacare for 18 months now. So I will be buying a high dose vitamin D supplement to add to my growing collection of supplements.

He also said my progesterone was above 50 on day 17, so he said that means my ovaries would seem to be working well. And he was much more reassuring about AMH, he said the normal ranges for each age group are huge and massively overlap, and there's a lot of uncertainty about what it all means.

I am meeting my younger sister for lunch and will have to try not to give her too much unsolicited feetility advice. I will tell her to take vitamin D supplements though!

KatBeCool · 12/10/2019 13:14

@RosettaR I was vitamin D deficient too a few months ago. I didn't think I'd be that low and I was taking pregnacare also. DH got tested too and he was borderline low, like the last number on the normal scale. I was taking 10,000 iu, but now down to 6000. Not having access to the sun during the majority of the year is definitely noticeable. You need at least 10 minutes per day of full body sun exposure, they say.

PineappleC · 13/10/2019 13:25

@Katbecool that sounds really promising for you this month 😊

@starkid sorry yours was a bit more painful than I'd said! At least it's now over, I think that seems like the most painful test most ppl have had!

We have our first consultant appt next Weds. I feel very lucky that things are going quite quickly with the referrals, and hope the appt is helpful 🤞

FlapJackered · 13/10/2019 17:48

@KatBeCool that's great news about your lining! And the follicles! Sounds like you're in the best possible position this cycle!

@RosettaR that sounds like a really reassuring appointment! Interesting about the vitamin D, what amount did he recommend taking?

@starkid sorry the hsg was so horrible, that's great it's all done though!

@PineappleC 🤞🏻for your appointment, that's great it's moving so quickly for you!

I have got my operation on Wednesday it will be good to get the cyst out but feels slightly bittersweet as it's the day after my due date from my miscarriage and I will be in hospital, but not for the reason I expected 😢.

RosettaR · 13/10/2019 18:50

@KatBeCool that's interesting it's not just me with the vitamin D! Where did you get the 10,000 iu? I've bought Vitabiotics but that's just 1,000 so not sure that's enough. Maybe I just take two a day.

Good luck with the appointment @PineappleC.

starkid · 13/10/2019 19:09

@FlapJackered @PineappleC - good luck with your appointments Wednesday

I've not been tested for vitamin D- guess I should ask about it when I next see my consultant

KatBeCool · 14/10/2019 22:09

@RosettaR the 10,000 is not just one tablet, the ones I have are 1500 each so I took six. I was offered a prescription but those things are horse-sized. Did your gp tell you how much to take? If you're deficient, you do need at least 6-10,000 a day for a few months or possibly even higher depending on how deficient you are. Did they tell you your number?

@FlapJackered good luck with your surgery! Do you get to go home the same day? How long is the recovery?

Has IUI today. Was a new person doing it. And she's like "I won't do it until you fully relax all your pelvic muscles" while I'm laying there with my legs spread, speculum in, long needle shoved all the way into my uterus. Relax? You insane? Just hurry up and do it. And she scratched me too, I had a bit of blood later on, like couple drops.
She made a comment that I had a lot of ewcm. It definitely wasn't as noticeable outside. So if you ever wonder if you have enough, chances are it's all inside.

KatBeCool · 14/10/2019 22:10

@PineappleC good luck with your appointment as well! Ask questions!

FlapJackered · 14/10/2019 22:44

@KatBeCool 🤦🏼‍♀️ I think the phrase 'just relax' should be banned from all conversations surrounding fertility!
I should be out the same day, but I have a history of not responding that well to anesthetic so fingers crossed. 😬

DH and I have just booked ourselves into the Fertility Show in Olympia. 🙈 Hopefully it will shed some light on the ivf route!

PineappleC · 15/10/2019 09:39

@KatBeCool @RosettaR @starkid Thanks 😊 Its actually next Weds but I still am pretty surprised that it's so soon, as they said it's a 4 week wait but actually is more like 2!

@Katbecool Its ridiculous ppl telling you to relax in those situations. They say the same at smears and I'm like 🤨. Really hope this is your month 🤞 That's really useful to know 're ewcm too!

@FlapJackered good luck to you too! I hope it goes really well for you xx

KatBeCool · 15/10/2019 13:28

@FlapJackered I'm sure you'll be fine, they'll find a way to knock you out for the surgery, even if it's a club in the head 🤣 (in the worst case).

FlapJackered · 16/10/2019 06:08

Thanks ladies, on my way now 😩

RosettaR · 16/10/2019 08:40

Good luck @FlapJackered. I'm sure it will be fine.

Mrs71 · 16/10/2019 10:13

@FlapJackered good luck xx

I need some help ladies. Back off holiday and through the post I had my blood test results from my last thyroid blood test. I've been taking 50mg of propylthyourcil then went for the blood test after 4 weeks of taking it my TSH is 0.02 T4 12.6
Before it was 0.03 so it's moved a tiny amount? But the consultant wants me to carry on till December on 50mg and stop ttc until she sorts it out. What is the point of me going to see her I don't understand? She doesn't want to see me till 20th December and told me to a blood test week before. I'm so frustrated I'm not sure whether I should go speak to the gp about it or see an endocrinologist privately.

Maisy24 · 16/10/2019 10:59

@FlapJackered good luck!!

@Mrs71 sorry I can't help with thyroid levels or anything but the wait is really frustrating, I'd definitely get a second opinion as we all know how much the waiting around gets to us!

I've completely forgot to do my temp this morning so I haven't done it in over a week, it's actually nice to just ignore it and not know if I've ovulated! I'm going to get back on track in November though and really concentrate as we have no plans. I don't know about anyone else but every time I have plans like going on holiday, weddings, working away it falls at the worst time of my cycle! It's like My body knows and waits to ovulate at the worst time possible 🤣

Dh gets his SA results Friday so fingers crossed they come back good Smile

Mrs71 · 16/10/2019 11:41

@Maisy24 thank you! I really don't know what to do. The whole point of me getting referred to her was so she can get my thyroid sorted. Good luck with the SA results.

@KatBeCool @RosettaR maybe you know what I could do. 🙁

OP posts:
KatBeCool · 16/10/2019 13:43

@Mrs71 omg see someone else. At this point you should've seen much better results. Not to add, from what I'm reading, the dose she prescribed you is completely wrong. 50mg is not enough even as a maintenance dose (unless you take it three times a day, which is also wrong for such low dose) and the initial dose is 300-900mg daily split into three doses every eight hours for four weeks. Is your result now 0.2 or 0.02? If it's 0.02 like you said, it's worse than before. Either way, see someone else. All you need is a better prescription and someone who knows what they're doing. I'm not even a doctor, but common sense here - if current low dose didn't make much difference then try increasing it.

@FlapJackered keep us updated, hope it all goes well!
Has your DH considered steroid treatment for his sperm antibodies? It is definitely a treatment for that. It's only a 7 day course with good results. He might have to see someone privately though, I don't think it's a well-known treatment but there are plenty of studies on it.

Mrs71 · 16/10/2019 16:27

@KatBeCool it's 0.02 I've attached the letter. It's an actual joke!!

@Mrs71 if you have the money to go private and live anywhere near London I can give you the name of the endocrinologist I went to. He treated my cousin and worked with my aunt (who is a nurse) and they both think he's amazing. I really think he would be more pro active than that.

On the other hand I feel really angry that you should have to consider going privately because like you said it was her job to sort all this out. But given it hasn't got better at all it's hard to see how continuing the same until December is the right thing. Have you challenged that with your GP?

KatBeCool · 16/10/2019 17:02

@Mrs71 kick her to the curb! So your levels got worse, she thinks you have early Graves, but she wants to keep you on the dose that literally did nothing? She is a bad doctor, I feel bad for people who don't question her practice. Absolutely see someone else. You need a high dose of medication to start with and possibly fix the issue. I can't believe her.

Mrs71 · 16/10/2019 17:36

@RosettaR @KatBeCool I have the money to go private but it's out of principle she's a crap doctor! I feel so annoyed that I've wasted my time with her. Also people who can't afford to go private and have to see her through the NHS. I'm not waiting till December to see her I have a GP appointment in 2 weeks time but if I go in early one morning I can get appointment for the same day so will do this Monday see what he says. My acupuncture lady gave me details for a private endocrinologist near me who she recommends. She's charging £250 for the consultation appointment the earliest I can get an appointment with her is the 5th November. I am only 40 minutes away from central London by train. I got referred to her to help me sort my thyroid out to conceive instead she's telling me to stop! 😡

FlapJackered · 17/10/2019 08:03

Operation went well. 8cm Cyst is out. Left tube is clear, right one isn't but they think that might have been swelling from the cyst.
Now feeling bruised and tired but good to get it done.

@Mrs71 that is so frustrating, as the other girls said I would definitely go private if you can! I think unless they are thyroid specialists they often just don't have a clue.
I would go with a recommendation of someone that specialises.

I am having a similar issue with my nhs consultant who refuses to acknowledge that my DH has a problem with his results despite the fact people on here have much better results and been told their chances are less that 1%. 🙄 He has told us to come back in 5 months if we still haven't conceived but then even if he agrees to ivf it will be another 6 months probably to get the ball rolling on it, so I think we are just going to go privately.

@KatBeCool thanks for the tip, we are going to the private consultant in November so I will ask him about the steroids
