@FlapJackered glad the operation went well, hopefully you'll heal in no time.
I really don't think she has a clue what she's on about. I'm going private I'm not wasting my time with her. I've asked her secretary to post me all the blood tests I've had done with her so I have them as a record.
5 months is a long time waiting when you've been waiting all the time. Just useless, I just wish I went private to begin with.

@FlapJackered - pleased all went well for you xx and good luck going private!

KatBeCool · 17/10/2019 17:00

@FlapJackered glad it went well. 8cm is quite large. Did they say when you can start trying? That's good that your DH is seeing a specialist. Maybe print out some of those studies to bring with, you can easily find them if you search for "methylprednisolone male infertility". I doubt the dr would refuse to at least try, it's an easy well known prescription.

@starkid how are you doing? Have you ovulated yet?

starkid · 17/10/2019 17:03

@KatBeCool - I'm not sure! I had a nearly-positive on the 14th and nothing but negatives since (testing 2-3 times a day). Not sure if the HSG would've messed things up? Have kind of given up on this cycle as was still bleeding for a few days after too so haven't had much of a chance at trying.
Blood test for progesterone to check I am actually ovulating is on Monday :)
How are you?

KatBeCool · 17/10/2019 17:21

@starkid I should've ovulated on Monday according to the trigger. I had some pains on Tuesday though, so I'm not sure. IUI was Monday, and we dtd Monday and Tuesday. Boobs aren't sore, I've been squishing them all day. I looked back if I ovulated later the month I had HSG, but it looks like it was cd15 however that cycle was extra long.

starkid · 17/10/2019 18:00

@KatBeCool - let the constant boob squishing commence! haha Grin oh so your luteal phase was longer the cycle you had HSG? Interesting...

I've had a stomach ache on and off last few days too :( Not sure why. And only DTD once during (possibly) the fertile week. So yeah, cycle 16 a write off for me mentally. Hate not knowing when to expect AF now I haven't have a positive opk though!

RosettaR · 19/10/2019 21:57

So staying at parents in law and it seems they have discretely left a cut out telegraph article entitled "men who are more fertile come from big families" on dh's bedside table. It also contains a tip called "beetroot amd ginger cocktail appears to aid conception". Not sure which one they wanted to show us. Dh has a super small family so maybe not that one? Also, I do have access to the internet and am perfectly capable of finding my own stories about xyz that can aid conception thanks.

PineappleC · 20/10/2019 09:23

@RosettaR sorry to hear that. Even if these things are well intended, it doesn't make them any less irritating. I guess some ppl have no idea what to say or do, and probably think they're being supportive. My MIL keeps starting sentences with "When you're pregnant" - I think she thinks that's her being positive, but it just stresses me out!

MrsG096 · 20/10/2019 13:48

Hi All,

Ive been lurking for a little while....can I join?
TTC #1
Age 28
Cycle 15

Background..early 2018 Hubby had bloods which discovered he had severly low testosterone (1.4 and normal level should be between 7 and 31 i think they said) he then had these repeated sept 2018 and they had slightly increased to 2.1, the docs said its highly unlikely of us having a baby due to this, but never prescribed any meds to help hubby. So we done our own research and started taking vitamins...he then had tests redone in Dec and they dramatically increased to 10.5 - finally! So then they referred him for a sperm test - finally got the appointment through for April this year...so after waiting 4 months for the sperm ananylsis appointment - we go to the hospital, for them to tell us they dont perform sperm anaylsis there, our GP had referred us to the wrong hospital. Could have cried. So had to be referred again & next appointment at correct hospital was end of June. Had his sperm analysis done...everything come back over & beyond normal and his testosterone increased to 12.5. Due to this, his gp discharged his as he is now normal! Without even arranging another follow up to check all is going well.
I had been trying to get myself an appointment to check all is ok with me, docs said they wont refer me due to me having regular peridos and its probably down to my husbands infertility (his exact words) i finally wore them down & got referred. Everything came back normal with me (slightly abnormal uterus but nothing that would stop conceiving) so they have said more than likely unexplained in fertility, but have asked me to lose around 10lbs then come back.

Sorry for the extra long post (first time me openly talking about this & feels good to get it out there).

Has anyone been in similar situation? X

KatBeCool · 20/10/2019 15:59

@MrsG096 I'm so sorry, that sounds like a very unpleasant experience. My situation is nothing similar so I can't offer much other than sympathy. So were you able to lose weight? What was their plan for when that happens? I know they won't prescribe medication if your bmi is too high so that's definitely something that has to be done.

KatBeCool · 20/10/2019 16:01

@starkid I am still very puzzled. Where's my boob pain? 6dpo today and nothing. It's been like that for years except the last two cycles.

starkid · 20/10/2019 16:08

@KatBeCool - weird!
I'm 5dpo (maybe? still not certain when/if I ovulated to be honest). Boob should start hurting in the next day or two if so, and currently feeling very sensitive/teary.

But that might just be because we went to a baptism today with lots of babies, where another friend revealed she was pregnant (after 1 month of trying), and people were guessing who would be next to get pregnant in the friendship group... had to go to the toilets for a bit to stop myself from crying. Haven't been like that before but it was just all too much this time. So just feel like complete shite now.

starkid · 20/10/2019 19:01

Also had what felt like ovulation pains on the left earlier, so am even more confused about my cycle this month! Not a clue when to expect AF 🧐

MrsG096 · 20/10/2019 19:05

@KatBeCool so they said to lose around 10lbs which im currently trying to shift (appointment was 2 weeks ago) then they will look into what next and that we will qualify for IVF.

Gave it everything this month...really hoping we can fall naturally before going down the IVF route as it scares me.

Its so frustrating, regular periods, feel ovulation every month and nothing - then you here of people who fell pregnant on the pill Hmm xx

KatBeCool · 20/10/2019 19:34

@MrsG096 what scares you about ivf? Up until three months ago I never thought I'd be able to give myself stomach injections, but if you can brave your first one, it's nothing after that. Everything else isn't all that bad. Just a lot of worrying.

MrsG096 · 20/10/2019 19:43

@KatBeCool yes i think it is the injections and all the meds & not knowing how i will feel, i suppose its a sense of losing control of whats happening to you body...i know that sounds really silly.
Are you going through IVF? X

RosettaR · 21/10/2019 19:54

@MrsG096 welcome. It sounds like you've had a stressful time with GPs and referrals, I'm glad you spund like you have a plan now.

So I had my IVF planning appointment today, where we signed all the consent forms plus a scan. Worryingly she thought I might have a polyp on my uterus lining. She said I would need another scan after my next period to see if there is still something there. If it's a polyp it will need to be removed before IVF, which will mean NHS waiting times. So I'm a little worried this will delay us by many many months.

The good news was that I had 22 follicles! 22!! Last time I got scanned it was 8. I'm still amazed by how much it can vary month on month, but I think generally that is good news for my ovarian reserve.

starkid · 21/10/2019 20:53

@RosettaR - good news about your follicles! That's such a good difference. Got my fingers crossed for no polyp xx

@KatBeCool - any sore boobs yet? Mine are killing today

FlapJackered · 22/10/2019 12:30

Finally starting to feel more human again although still very sore from the op. Now it is just the fun game of waiting to see when and if ovulation is going to happen this cycle!

@RosettaR great news about the follicles that bodes really well!

@KatBeCool thanks for the tip re the steroids, I will ask the consultant, but every time I ask something or suggest something he seems to dismiss it 🙄 Very frustrating.
The surgeons didn't mention needing to wait so I am not going to, I figure if my body is ovulating it is probably ready. There is also a rumour that post laparoscopy and the dye test you are more fertile so definitely want to test that theory now ivf is looming!
How are you doing? Are you approaching the end of the tww now?

RosettaR · 22/10/2019 13:37

I'm glad you are recovering @FlapJackered. I think they would have told you if you weren't meant to ttc this month. Since they haven't, I'm sure it will be fine. Do you know when you are planning to move forward with ivf now that your cyst is sorted?

@MrsG096 I am feeling much better about ivf after the planning appointment, the nurse just seemed really experienced and competent and it seemed that they would look after us really well. The bit that terrifies me is being told the number of eggs/embryos you have at each stage, I just think it sounds so stressful and I'd be panicking the whole time about whether we would have any to transfer. And I worry what would happen if I got a cold or a stomach bug or something like that - would it ruin our chances. Basically I need to learn to deal with stress much better than I do now!

KatBeCool · 22/10/2019 13:40

@starkid nothing still. I tried looking at exactly causes the soreness and nobody seems to agree. Some say it's because higher oestrogen and progesterone levels, some say it's because of the fluctuation, some say it's because there's not enough progesterone, and some just say "it's because of hormones but we don't know anything else". Ffs, this is not helping.

@FlapJackered I'm right in the middle of the TWW, 7dpo today. So I'm neither here nor there.

@MrsG096 I'm doing IUI.

@RosettaR that's a good number of follicles. With medication, it's possible to have even more. How excited are you for jabbing yourself in the stomach?

starkid · 22/10/2019 13:57

@KatBeCool - yes I did the same research into it too, wondering if my progesterone test will come back high/low/normal due to always having ultra-sore boobs for a week before AF. Hormones in general seems to be the answer annoyingly, you're right. Fingers crossed for the next week for you!

RosettaR · 22/10/2019 18:13

@KatBeCool yes I am not exactly looking forward to injecting and I am quite squeamish. Are you used to that now?

KatBeCool · 22/10/2019 19:01

@RosettaR I was literally in tears the first time I had to do the injection. I just couldn't bring myself to it. So eventually I just went for it as fast as I could and was like "oh, this is nothing, I can barely feel it". My advice - read the instructions that come with medicine about administering it and watch some videos. And also ice it for 30-40 seconds before the jab. The worst "pain" I felt was like a minor paper cut. Ovidrel is a bigger injection but even that isn't bad.

FlapJackered · 22/10/2019 21:49

@RosettaR I want to give myself time to heal properly from the operation and also give us a few more chances to conceive naturally just in case it was the cyst that was also causing problems, so we are aiming to start ivf in January. We are leaning towards ABC clinic which is meant to be quite mild with the drugs they give but we're going to the fertility show in London to try and make a more informed decision.
How are you feeling about starting ivf? I bet you're ready for it now!
