@validuser - OMG imagine if you have twins Grin love it
@KatBeCool - Wow exciting, yes I hope the weather is lovely too :)

starkid · 20/07/2020 22:14

@validuser have you had any early pregnancy symptoms yet? :)

ValidUser · 20/07/2020 22:49

@starkid everything tastes like metal and all I want to eat is really bland stuff.

Light spotting on Saturday, but it stopped and tests got stronger since, so I think it was blood thinner related/the embryo(s) growing into a blood vessel.

PineappleC · 21/07/2020 15:29

Hey everyone, its been a while! Just checking in to mumsnet to post a question on the infertility board and thought I'd check on you all!

@validuser huge congrats! And amazing if it was twins! 😊

I'm currently at the start of my first FET. Large chance it may be cancelled, but glad things are at least moving again!

ValidUser · 21/07/2020 17:25

Hellooooooo @PineappleC! How many do you have frozen? Hoping against hope you don't end up with a cancellation.

PineappleC · 21/07/2020 18:14

Thanks @ValidUser 😊 I really hope so too! It's been a looooong wait whilst the clinic was shut (ours is in a hospital so only just open) and I don't think I'm patient enough for more delays!

We have 6 frozen at the moment, but I'm not going to go ahead with transfer if I don't feel right. I went ahead with the fresh transfer back in Feb even though my oestradiol levels had rocketed by egg collection. No one advised me that a freeze all was an option, and the main reason my fresh one failed was these hormone levels, and I just feel gutted that we wasted our best embryo.

So I guess words of advice to all - listen to your doctors but also listen to your body!! xx

KatBeCool · 21/07/2020 20:53

@PineappleC that's rather odd that they proceeded with the transfer while knowing your oestradiol was too high. Every clinic I heard would force you to freeze and some don't even do fresh transfers at all for this exact reason. Well you have six more chances thankfully!

ValidUser · 21/07/2020 23:12

@PineappleC you are so right! Crossing all kinds of things for you.

PineappleC · 22/07/2020 18:17

@ValidUser aww thanks so much!

@KatBeCool yes I know. Apparently the upper threshold was 15000 for oestradiol and mine were 15090 at EC, so they made me feel "grateful" that we were going ahead 🙄

orangeloo · 06/09/2020 11:16

Hey, haven't posted to this thread for a long time. Anyone got any good or hopeful news or progress? I don't 😂 just waiting for my first consult after nhs referral. Really hope someone has.

starkid · 06/09/2020 13:38

Hi Orangeloo, good to hear from you!
I've got my first appointment at the fertility clinic this week for the NHS funding eligibility and more blood/sperm sample tests and ultrasound. Sadly nothing else positive apart from that my end! Good luck with your appointment.

Been suffering with anxiety a lot recently too so am considering trying a couple of acupuncture sessions. Has anyone tried it before?

orangeloo · 06/09/2020 13:48

Hi @starkid the whole nhs funding thing seems scary to me I imagine people sitting around discussing who deserves it on not lol. This has always perplexed me in a way, surely only those who are referred to start with meet the criteria? I'm having a bad time with anxiety atm too. I have had acupuncture but only for fertility. I found it v relaxing in the session but didn't do much else for me. Others swear by it. I would say give it a go but definitely also try things that help that don't cost u money, exercise, mindfulness etc. X

starkid · 06/09/2020 13:51

Thanks @orangeloo yes that is true, am trying to stress less about work/talk to them about my anxieties too, to get to some of the root of the cause.
Thankfully I've looked at the criteria and know we will both pass just fine, but I can imagine still worrying about it at the appointment - kind of like worrying going through airport security even though you know you don't have any guns or bombs haha!

orangeloo · 06/09/2020 13:55

@starkid 😂 yes I love that airport analogy, it's exactly like that. Getting to the root cause is always a good idea but the anxiety may not go away even after all the problems do so your right to look for other things that help too.

ValidUser · 06/09/2020 13:59

Hello @orangeloo and @starkid. I'm pregnant after IVF and can find the heartbeat on a home doppler now. 11 weeks tomorrow, so I can come off the steroids soon. €10000 poorer, but pleased we did it.

KatBeCool · 06/09/2020 14:05

@orangeloo I am waiting for my AF to start (hopefully tomorrow) after the last BCP. And then I'm starting stims cd2. I was told that it takes almost a month to get the PGS results for this clinic. So I would not be going back until November for FET, thankfully that's what I've been planning from the start. As long as I actually have normal embryos. So scary to think that some women did not have any after the retrieval. Anxiety surely is high. Hopefully my body doesn't decide to grow only one giant follicle and ditch the rest like it did with the last iui. How are things with you?

@starkid that's great news! Are you feeling excited? Because I'm not feeling excited, I'm a ball of nerves to actually be a the brink of starting this process. But I'm excited for you, lol. I joined ivf support group on Facebook and been learning a ton so it's been a bit calming.

I am taking so many supplements, it's insane. It better all be worth it.

starkid · 06/09/2020 14:12

@KatBeCool that's great you are so close now though! But yes, nerve wracking after all this time I'm sure. Fingers crossed for your follicles.
Hmm I'm not really excited because I don't know what the wait is going to be for the actual IVF appointments to start..! This seems like the same kind of thing as usual in our previous appointments, except that apparently the blood and sperm sample tests are more thorough than what we've already had, according to their website.

ValidUser · 06/09/2020 14:17

Just realised my reply may have come across as insensitive. It was meant to be more of an "I get it". Apologies!

orangeloo · 06/09/2020 14:17

@ValidUser so pleased for you! @KatBeCool ah it's all about to happen then, pleased things are progressing for you. I'm sure you are nervous I would be too, I sometimes feel like the more I learn about IVF the more nervous for that time I get, other times I think well at least I'm prepared. What made you decide to go for pgs testing out of interest? Was it recommended? . Please keep us posted I find ivf so interesting and want to know how you get on.

orangeloo · 06/09/2020 14:18

@ValidUser not at all haha I know where you were coming from Wink

KatBeCool · 06/09/2020 17:40

@orangeloo I'm doing pgs testing due to age, so it's definitely recommended. I'm not a carrier for anything, I had genetic testing done, and I don't think my DH is either. So mainly testing for chromosome abnormalities. Ahh, the nerves are getting to me, AF needs to show up tomorrow. And there's not even a sign.

orangeloo · 06/09/2020 17:56

@KatBeCool ah I see, you're nerves are totally understandable but just think of all you've been through to get to this point and you now get to give yourselves the best chance possible. AF never shows when u want her to haha.

starkid · 10/09/2020 16:58

So I had my first IVF appointment today, passed the NHS funding part and both had a blood test, plus a sperm analysis and transvaginal ultrasound. I'm in my luteal phase, and the nurse could see one follicle which had collapsed/ovulated, plus 9 more in my right and 8 in my left ovary. Don't really know what that means, but she said it was good (I'm 30 if that makes a difference).
Next will be the consultant appointment to discuss the results and treatment going forward, which is be via video call, which is convenient :)

KatBeCool · 10/09/2020 17:30

@starkid that's great! Do they do birth control first? You think you'll be able to start on your next cycle? I'm on my third day of stims, scan on Saturday.
I got a little bit of spotting on Monday, apparently that was AF. Had scan on Tuesday and she confirmed that my lining was very thin so I'm not going to get much bleeding. As usual, nothing can go stress free for me. There was one 9-10mm follicle in one of the ovaries, she said if it was just 2mm larger, the cycle would've been canceled. So now the hope is that it's not going to overtake everything and not allow others to grow. I'll find out on Saturday. She counted about 7 in each ovary. I'm a bit a upset as during my last scan at the gyno they saw 10 in each. Hopefully more will show up, she didn't seem to be very precise at this point, just wanted to make sure there is a good number to work with. Your follicle number is pretty good though, not too high and definitely not low. Fingers crossed for both of us!

starkid · 10/09/2020 18:01

7 in each ovary still sounds good to me? Fingers crossed for Saturday! I don't know how big mine were, but yeah the dominant one had already collapsed, and my lining was thick as per the time in my cycle (just copying what she said).

So I haven't found anything out about the treatment plan yet, that'll be with my video call with the consultant along with the results of our tests. Then will get a lot of answers I expect! But because of all the delays from lockdown, plus they've had to go down to 1 surgery room a week as opposed to their normal two, things are a bit slower, so the assistant today cautiously said January for things to start, but we'll see I guess.

Hopefully our video call will be soon (nice and convenient not having to go in, to be honest)
