Haha yes you are right @Luxoire so if I do it a few times before the "fertile" period it won't harm then I guess

Luxoire · 07/08/2019 17:56

@HappyGirl86 I dont think they would..the more sperm you have dancing in you when the egg is releasee the better!! So go fill up on sperm girl and announce the news to youe very happy OH hahahah

@HappyGirl86 I don't mean to sound stupid but what is the 'sperm meets egg' way? 🤦🏻‍♀️
I've never heard of that before.

HappyGirl86 · 07/08/2019 18:40

Haha @Luxoire made me laugh! He will be thrilled

@Destiny25 I didn't know anything about it myself until last week, my friend told me about it. Google it, and you will see the plan. Basically it says that if you just DTD during just the fertile period given on an app for example then you may miss the crucial time, so it's about doing it on set days to ensure there are swimmers around when the egg is released. So you do it every other day after day 8, then you keep doing ovulation tests until you get a positive then you do it every day for 3 days and then have a days break and then another 3 days. If you google it. You will see it explained much better than I can! Haha!

Can i join you too please? It would be so nice to have people to discuss all aspects of ttc with (that most people don’t understand). My story: we have just decided to ttc naturally following lots of genetics tests. We lost dd1 in jan very unexpectedly so any pregnancy will be super stressful but hopefully worth it. My cycles are all over the place atm due to cysts (gross I know) but I’m hoping from sept we can ttc properly!

HappyGirl86 · 07/08/2019 19:42

Hi @Robs20 of course you can join, welcome! The more the merrier.
Sorry to hear your sad news.....did you lose your daughter during pregnancy? A horrible thing for you to go through.
Lots of positive thoughts for you for your TTC journey Smile

Destiny25 · 07/08/2019 19:50

@HappyGirl86 ahh I've googled I know what your talking about not haha!
Hopefully that will work with you,
When I had my son in 2014 I found using soft cups after dtd worked a treat I was pregnant straight off the pill in the first cycle.
I am trying them again now but don't have a clue when I will ovulate, my opk today is darker but not a straight positive so I'm not hopeful.

Good luck for Monday I hope you get some good luck this month!

How is everyone else doing?

HappyGirl86 · 07/08/2019 19:53

What are soft cups @Destiny25 ?
How do they work?

Destiny25 · 07/08/2019 19:59

@HappyGirl86 it's a method some people use to conceive, it's like w soft cup you insert after sex which holds the sperm close to the cervix so it can't go anywhere else, you can also leave them in 12 hours so you can go to work etc without worrying about it leaking out etc (TMI sorry) there's a lot of success story's on google etc.

Robs20 · 07/08/2019 20:08

Thank you! Nope she was 1 and caught a nasty virus :(. I always wanted her to have a sibling so fingers crossed!
Is everyone being super healthy to help ttc? I am trying but also love eating......

HappyGirl86 · 07/08/2019 20:11

Oh @Robs20 I'm so sorry that's awful.......I can't imagine what you have been through. Sorry if I've upset you asking further questions.

Thanks
Robs20 · 07/08/2019 20:16

Not at all (I can’t figure out how to tag people), I would rather talk about her than pretend she didn’t exist :).

HappyGirl86 · 07/08/2019 20:34

Awww tell us about her @Robs20 what was her name?

To tag you type the @ sign and then choose a name Smile

MrsSkr · 07/08/2019 21:04

@Luxoire Oh yay I'm so happy for you! That's so exciting and sounds like you're all set for when the time comes. We are hoping for a June/July/August baby ideally so timings will be pretty similar. It's so nice to have girls going through it at the same time, I really hope it all works out for us all 🤞
@HappyGirl86 I agree, dont think theres such a thing as too much when ttc, think they replenish fairly fast so give him a wee Birthday treat.

Welcome @Robs20 I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, I can't imagine how that must feel. But of course we are all here to chat, ttc feels like such a minefield, even having done it before, it feels like such a long time ago so will still be all new. I really hope it all goes well for you xx

HappyGirl86 · 07/08/2019 21:20

What, if any, pregnancy/conception vitamins are you girls taking?
I've only started pregnacare this week, the one for conception, it's got folic acid in so thought I'd better. This will be enough right?

wannabemum38 · 07/08/2019 21:29

@HappyGirl86 I bought the boots own brand folic acid and vitamin d started taking them from the day I stopped taking the pill.
Currently on CD12 according to my Ovia app my fertile period is edging nearer hitting ovulation on Saturday. Started testing with cheap ov tests yesterday think it's a bit darker today so crossing fingers. I'm only in cycle 1 though and have read it can take a few months after coming off the pill to even start ovulating properly.

HappyGirl86 · 07/08/2019 21:36

Good luck @wannabemum38 yes it can take time but last time I conceived my daughter the first month I came off the pill, so it can happen quickly. I've heard other positive stories like that too!
Have you already started DTD this cycle?

wannabemum38 · 07/08/2019 21:49

@HappyGirl86
No me and DP don't live in same town at moment long distance relationship didn't think would work out but it has. We are seeing each other this weekend but only Saturday and Sunday cos his work mucked up his rota so I'm not holding out much hope this cycle! He is moving here in next two months so hopefully by then I will have a better understanding of when I'm ovulating and we will be living together so will be easier.

MrsSkr · 07/08/2019 21:50

@HappyGirl86 I took pregnacare conception last time, we actually got the couple's one so my hubby did too. This time, iv not started yet but I have seven seas trying for a baby which is just folic acid, vitamin d and iron. Only because my friend who has just had a baby had them left over and she gave me them. I'll start them on Mon since that's coil out day lol.
Good luck @wannabemum38 that's so exciting for you! Keep us posted! xx

HappyGirl86 · 07/08/2019 21:52

@wannabemum38 you never know.......a couple of days trying and you might be lucky. Positive thinking 😊
How far are you living from each other at the moment?

@MrsSkr did you find the pregnacare vitamins ok, no horrible side effects?? I'm paranoid about stuff like that!

MrsSkr · 07/08/2019 22:00

@HappyGirl86 yeh perfect, I had no side effects. I took them until I got my bfp then swapped to pregnacare pregnancy and then onto the breastfeeding ones too. I'll probably get them again once iv used up these ones. x

Robs20 · 07/08/2019 22:00

@HappyGirl86 her name was Eliza :) She was the sassiest little girl in the world, known for holding her breath and turning purple when she was cross, lover of her musical piano, knocking over towers and putting anything and everything in her mouth!!
I am taking superdrug own brand pregnancy vitamins. Think they are all pretty much the same but these were the cheapest!

MrsSkr · 07/08/2019 22:52

Oh my goodness @Robs20, Eliza sounds like the most amazing little girl, it's so special that you have such lovely memories of her ❤

Luxoire · 08/08/2019 11:23

@Robs20 great to have you join the summer 2020 baby crew! I am so sorry for your loss. But it sounds like you have wonderful cherised memories of her and THAT is irreplaceable. You sound like an amazing mum and Eliza will have a sibling she will be looking after from the heavens! - hugs

@MrsSkr @wannabemum38 @HappyGirl86 i had not actually thought of the vits...we took the pregnacare couple conception vitamins religiously for 2 months before TTC and then during TTC our first. With the second i forgot about them completely and only remebered to take the pregnancy vitamins at my booking appt bcos i get terribly anaemic and need all the iron I can get! but now you ladies mention it, i might just get a cheap own store brand whilst we are WTT and TTC and then get pregnacare when pregnant - i havent had any side effects from them!

Cant wait for our holiday to be over so i can get all my plans into motion hahahah meanwhile he is treating the holiday as his last condom-free, pregnancy-free enjoyment session before the sh*t of pregnancy and a new born hits the fan!! honestly you'd think he was the one carrying the child for 40 weeks! (10 months)

@Destiny25 soft cup ehh?! sounds interesting friend of mine has been struggling to conceive for 20months, I might suggest this to her.. thanks xx

Robs20 · 08/08/2019 18:21

@Luxoire thank you. That message made me 😊

Right, I like to be SUPER organised. Aside from vitamins are there any other obvious things to help prepare? Eliza was a happy surprise so i haven't been through this before!
Also, silly question but....hot tubs...do they kill sperm? We are going on a mini break this weekend and I have heard they are best avoided when ttc?
