Anyone starting their TTC journey in July 2019?

Anyone in the same boat? I'm 33 and from next week DH and I will be actively trying for #1. I'm excited, nervous, trying to be chill about it all but also imagining myself with a bump celebrating Xmas this year Grin

I started taking SS 'trying for a baby' supplements 4 weeks ago, not sure if it was their effects or not but this month my cycle was 20 days. Otherwise i'm 27 days always. Anyways, let's see what happens.

Hoping to find some pals in a similar place at the moment on here!

Welcome @Mim21 join the ttc party

TurquoiseKiss · 12/08/2019 11:28

How did everyone's weekend go? I had positive OPKs on Saturday and Sunday. DTD on Thursday night and Sunday morning, was angling for Saturday night but I totally ruined the mood by trying to push a tired DH, I actually used the "i'm ovulating now" words Blush With my cycle changes and lack of using OPKs consistently I was a bit frustrated with myself at the end of last week - then to see ewcm and positive OPKs over the weekend sent me a bit wild!

Welcome Mim21 ! My DH is also on the Wellman conception supplements - we were only talking about them this morning, for him to tell me he was already taking about 5 of the main ingredients as part of the daily vitamins he has taken for ages...at a fraction of the cost! So easy to get sucked in by pre-conception marketing.

mojitoextrarum - hope the hangover has eased! To answer your query, personally I had every intention to cut back on the booze during this TTC journey lark. Nothing has changed! I haven't had any huge sessions (although will be at a 3-day wedding next weekend) but had a half a bottle of wine here, a couple of gins there, during recent meet ups with friends, or even just at home with DH. Maybe the biggest TTC successes come in January when more people actively try to start the new year healthy Hmm

Anyone coming up to 9 or 10 DPO? Any feelings?

Wakemeupwithcoffee · 12/08/2019 20:59

I am only 7 dpo I think and today I feel nauseous. I still have a cold maybe I’m just ill but I feel worried. If I am pregnant and I am already feeling sick at 7 dpo I am clearly gonna have horrendous hyperemesis! The nausea didn’t start til the day my period was due the first two times! I’ve just started a new job not sure I will be able to cope!

Positivity2019 · 12/08/2019 22:03

Hi everyone, hope you’re all fine and keeping positive.
I’ve had a busy week last week and it’s been hard also. Two of my best friends have been expecting and both of them had their babies last week within a day of each other. I am in absolute love with their baby boys but it’s also made me yearn for my own BFP like never before. Due to ovulate any day now and have EWCM today so just keeping up with DTD and being hopeful.

TurquoiseKiss · 12/08/2019 22:53

Keep up the positive vibes Positivity2019 ! Has your most recent period been and gone now? I'm hoping I calm down a bit but I'm imagining every month until (if!) a BFP will be lived in 2 halves - the wait for the fertile window to come, and then the wait after to see if anything has happened! I guess I'm still in the novelty period of learning so much about conception (literally if you'd asked me a few months ago when the best time in a cycle to try for a baby were I wouldn't have been able to say Blush ) that I'm taking in every bit of info I can. I need to throw myself into a new hobby, stat! Grin

A gripe I do have with our anatomy is why are symptoms of AF so similar to early pregnancy symptoms!? In hindsight I feel silly, but last month I had a glimmer of hope that the cramps, bloat and toilet-going increase could be signs of a BFP - when I get these every month, and always have, when AF is well and truly on route!

Tonight I visited a friend who has a 4 week old baby girl (first time meeting her!) its so hard not to think...this could be me in 10 months, 1 year, 2 years, 5 years, maybe never Shock Trying to remind myself life is a road set out for us all, no chapters can be skipped, every character has to be met, and what's for us won't pass us by.

It’s so annoying how similar the signs are! I’ve had such sensitive nipples all day and I’m immediately questioning what it could be. I’m sure I wasn’t as interested in them a few months ago!
So easy for your mind to run away with what the future holds! X

Wakemeupwithcoffee · 13/08/2019 07:16

Those in the 2ww when are your periods due? Ovia says mine due Friday and I could be starting with symptoms now.

Wearenotyourkind · 13/08/2019 10:21

Guess who got their period! Never thought I'd be so pleased to welcome AF 🥳

TurquoiseKiss · 13/08/2019 12:34

Wakemeupwithcoffee if I have another short cycle then 20/21 August AF would be due, Glo app is telling me 24 August though. When is yours due? Late night Googling last night tells me the 10mg of vitamin b6 i'm taking is a laughable amount to try and lengthen a short luteal phase. I'm going to enjoy our 2-week holiday the first 2 weeks of Sept and then look into working on improving this if its still an issue once we're back.

Happy for you Wearenotyourkind ! You can get to cycle tracking Smile

@Wearenotyourkind yey great news!

I am due on Friday. I have felt a bit nauseous today but not as bad as yesterday so don’t feel as panicked. Also boobs feel a bit tender.

Wearenotyourkind · 13/08/2019 19:57

Thank you all, yes this is my greatest achievement in some time. 😂

Wakemeupwithcoffee · 13/08/2019 20:07

I think my wee smells funny too... is that a thing or am I going mad or maybe have a water infection 🤣

Mim21 · 13/08/2019 20:12

I'm due AF on 24th August, was convincing myself i could feel cramps and twinges on my left side yesterday/day before but nothing today, only 6 dpo though, a hopeful beginner i think Wink

Congrats on the period!

I'm also still drinking though trying not to be excessive (i enjoy aWine) if nothing happpens in a few months of ttc it's something i'd definitely cut out to see if it changes anything.

Positivity2019 · 13/08/2019 21:43

@Wearenotyourkind that’s great news about your AF! You’ll be excited to get past it and move towards your fertile window.

@TurquoiseKiss yes my period came and went, I am currently in peak fertility and DTD every night for the past week. However I think my poor partner needs a break tonight. Ovulation is mean to be thurs so thinking take a break tonight and then crack on weds and thurs and over the weekend. Hopefully that will cover all the possibilities of late ovulation etc and then it’s the dreaded TWW.
You’re absolutely right, it’s quite frustrating having pregnancy and period symptoms being so similar, drives us crazy trying to fathom what if all means.

@Wakemeupwithcoffee fingers crossed for good news over the weekend for you!!!

Speaking of having a drink, I’ve a girls night out planned on the 24th Aug which is about five days short of my next AF. No clue whether I should do a test to double check or whether I should just wait until a late period like I know I should.

Positivity2019 · 13/08/2019 21:45

Also @TurquoiseKissalso thanks for the boost, it is difficult being around new babies but of course we are over the moon for our friends/family who have them and we just have to be patient waiting for our turn.

Absa · 13/08/2019 21:58

Currently 4dPO, AF due 23rd Aug.
Same with me - tender nipples last couple of days and had to get DH to give me a back rub yesterday as lower back had been twinging. But I normally get sensitive nipples a couple of days a month and previously have had back problems so think there's probably nothing new! So frustrating trying to second guess. Roll on next week!

mojitoextrarum · 14/08/2019 14:47

Hi everyone. Just catching up with the thread. Hope you're all good.

So I'm about recovered now after my heavy weekend Wink Wow- those hangovers are the worst after 30. I used to be alright after a sleep and a fry up, but now the alcohol prevents you from getting that healing sleep and you just feel like death for the entire day... and perhaps the next 🤦

Anyway, I'm on my peak day according to clearblue. I've been getting pains and feeling generally a bit rubbish and emotional and it's day 16 of my cycle, so seems about right. I had 3 days of flashing smilies beforehand and was starting to get impatient, why is something I REALLY need to work on. Patience is not my strong point and I think this journey requires it by the bucket load!

Question though- how many peak days are you supposed to have? Because I was going to check again tomorrow, but apparently once you get a static smiley, it stays on the screen for 48 hrs.

Shall be tracking for the next 3 months and hopefully it's all pretty consistent and we can start properly trying.

Oh and started taking my vitamins, including folic acid and woohoo! It doesn't make sick! It used to. Big time 🤢

mojitoextrarum · 14/08/2019 14:48

That was supposed to just be oh, not "other half"

Wakemeupwithcoffee · 15/08/2019 08:19

Hi I don’t know anything about the smileys I’m afraid, I just got one positive on the OPK and then didn’t bother doing it again!

@TurquoiseKiss that made me laugh as that went on in my house over the fertile period 🙈 but managed 3 times around the rightish time so feel we gave it a good go!

Period due tomorrow eek. No nausea yesterday so felt relieved from a hyperemesis point of view but have gone from thinking I am to thinking I may not be! I think a positive pregnancy test will come with a lot of anxiety this time so probably in for an emotional ride whichever way the next few months go!

How are the pregnant ones getting in?

Wakemeupwithcoffee · 15/08/2019 08:19

Getting on

AlmostAlwyn · 15/08/2019 09:04

Hello everyone! Joining in as we started TTC number 2 in July! Obviously a non-starter last month (which was probably for the best as DC1 was born in April!), so fingers crossed for this month! Currently in my fertile window this week (ovulating on Sunday according to the Flo app!), but luckily my husband's on board with the "I'm ovulating" chat (this time around! Which I think came about last time from a misunderstanding of how things work, so if you're having issues, OP, make sure he knows the biology! Grin)

Wearenotyourkind · 15/08/2019 09:47

Welcome @AlmostAlwyn we are all about the ovulation chat here 😂 we have no boundaries!

AlmostAlwyn · 15/08/2019 11:54

Great, @Wearenotyourkind! Love it Grin

Also should maybe clarify, when I said DC1 was born in April, it sounded like I meant April this year... when it was 2017! In case anyone was wondering how I was finding the time and energy to TTC with a 3 month old! Grin

Positivity2019 · 15/08/2019 17:50

Hi everyone, hope you’re all fine. Today is ovulation day for me. My partner and I DTD this morning 🎉 He is out until late tonight and I told him I would stay up so we could go again but I’m shattered and may well fall asleep 😂
@AlmostAlwyn welcome. My partner is great with the listening and asking questions and of course with DTD but it’s great to have this space for when you’re trying to assess every little clue to within an inch and resisting taking multiple pregnancy tests.

mojitoextrarum · 15/08/2019 18:37

😔 Man, I wish we could just DTD when I was ovulating and didn't have to call on a donor.

I know we're not trying officially yet, but I have to say, when I got my first static smiley yesterday, I felt really sad that we couldn't just DTD. I mean, we could, but no babies would be made Sad

Ah well, guess we could just keep trying Grin
