Trying to conceive first child with PCO/PCOS or irregular long cycles

Hi there,

I'm currently on my 3rd cycle ttc my first child and I suffer with irregular cycles due to PCO. I conceived first cycle but it was a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks. My second cycle was a chemical pregnancy. I'm now on my 3rd and it's day 34 with no ovulation yet. I'm using Ovusense to temp which helps to show when I've ovulated. I can't help but worry it was a fluke to fall quickly like I did. Just wondering if there's anyone else in a similar situation struggling with long cycles as I'm finding it really frustrating. Looking forward to chatting to some of you! x

Hey @EssJayyCee the latest I’ve O’ed since I started temping is day 36 which is today and unfortunately it’s looking like a failed O again today. When I was younger I have a feeling O wasn’t regular at all.

Good news about the more settled temps. Have you done anything differently?

Also good you’ve chatted with you Mum. I’ve heard Reiki is good so well worth it.

I’m finding the fitness side difficult too mainly because I’m still having days feeling very down after my pregnancy losses.

Today is rough because of failed O. Also my mother in law came round yesterday and asked if my friend who’s about to give birth might like a baby blanket she’s made. I’m pretty sure it’s the one that was meant for us before we miscarried. She’s not normally insensitive but it’s upset me.

My Doc said to generally eat less carbs. I’m aiming for 100g a day so just entering what I eat in my fitness pal and making sure I don’t go over. It doesn’t matter too much which carbs they are.

I really hope this cycle is better but definitely see the doctor soon. I’d ask if there is a gynae specialist at your surgery or see a female doctor if not. My doctor has been pretty good at referring me. Xx

@Catconfusion Hopefully your body is still trying to ovulate.
Oh no I'm sure she didn't mean to upset you.

I am trying to take a step back from worrying too much over it all. If it is going to happen it will happen. And I'm trying not to go on mumsnet too much because I get upset and stressed seeing everyone elses successes.

My mum gave me some healing Crystal's today and told me to lay with them on my belly for 10 minutes a day... I am willing to try anything!

I am not going to get too excited because it's too early to tell.. but I possibly ovulated yesterday.. fingers crossed.. eek. What do you think?

Hey @EssJayyCee how did it go with O? The crystals sound really amazing.

So I'm really frustrated and confused. I got a blazing peak on an Opk on Saturday. I then got two consecutive rises. DH and I were even talking about how lovely it would be if I got a bfp for my birthday in two weeks. Then last night I started spotting. I've never spotted before so really odd. Then this morning I got a drop. FF is saying I ovulated but I'm really not sure what to think. Xx

@Catconfusion O didn't happen.. still waiting.
BD is impossible at the moment too.. I have got a bit of a water infection and I have this sore on like my pubic area..
I think it may be an ingrown hair but I can't see it and its sore so BD isn't going to help.

It looks like you have O'd its dipped but not too much and still above the cover line.. maybe you were just cooler this morning for some reason. See what it does over the next few days before you start to panic.
Spotting could be O related?

Catconfusion · 20/06/2019 10:35

Oh no @EssJayyCee the infection could be delaying things. Poor you! I hope it all clears up soon.

It's so confusing. In the past its always been obvious when I've ovulated. I feel like my hormones are even more messed up this cycle than before. I got a slight rise today but nearly as much as I've had before. I'm wondering if it was a hormone imbalance. Seriously cramping now so not holding out much hope for this cycle. We're wondering if it would be best to stop trying an wait for the fertility appointment xx

@Catconfusion FF thinks I have possibly ovulated when I said but my temp doesn't seem high enough to me.. so I'm not convinced.

Maybe you should take a step back and rather than obsessing over it all just casually try if that makes sense?
Maybe forgetting about it but not using protection may just spur your body into behaving and it might catch you by surprise.

@EssJayyCee that's looking promising though a lot like mine. I get what you're saying about temps not being high enough. Mine are the same. I'm wondering if an egg popped through but not strongly enough so low progesterone.

I wouldn't say I'm obsessing but I'm spotting and in pain so want to know what's going on. Even if I wasn't temping I'd be thinking wtf. I turn 40 next week so we can't afford to take time out. I'm not confident we'd catch it without temping. This is the weirdest cycle I've ever had and can only be linked to my pregnancy losses.

Here's my wonderful and confusing chart. Xx

@Catconfusion I hope so! We managed to DTD quite a few times leading up to that day so could have caught it if it definitely was then. I've had another bit of rise this morning from 36.43 yesterday to 36.56 this morning this is my highest "post ovulation" temp if I definitely did ovulate.

Your chart looks similar to my last cycle just a little shorter. (And mine was annovulatory)

I understand what you're saying.. the doctor reassured you that you're still very fertile though so you shouldn't worry too much about your age.
I know it's all confusing with weird cycles but I guess all you can do is keep DTD and hope for the best.

That's what I am trying to do... (lack of DTD at the moment though😑) I'm temping but not over thinking and just trying to DTD every other day throughout my cycle. I figured I was stressing myself out which won't help anything.

Going to the doctors for this stupid sore patch today.. so hopefully back to DTD soon 😂 TMI.

Catconfusion · 21/06/2019 08:43

@EssJayyCee your current chart is quite similar to mine. Those are low post, ovulation temps which is baffling. Mine usually go up to 36.80. I'm pretty sure I have ovulated as I've started feeling nauseous like I normally do about now. Progesterone really affects me. I might see the doctor and see if I can have a progesterone test to know for sure because if it's a BFP the progesterone might be low so might need supplements. I'm thinking my crazy post miscarriage oestrogen levels might be suppressing the progesterone. In which case the temps look lower than they would be. The spotting has stopped now at least. Fingers crossed for us both! xx

OP posts:
EssJayyCee · 21/06/2019 11:09

@Catconfusion on my most clear chart my post ovulation temps ranged for 36.55-36.74.

Low temps are weird...
I just think my hormones are all over the place. At least you have a kind of reason why yours are a bit wobbly!

Fingers crossed for us both.. more so for you.

Catconfusion · 21/06/2019 11:35

Arh thanks @EssJayyCee It must be a feature of pcos. I'm wondering if the mcs have made me symptoms worse. The spotting is completely new. Every cycle I've monitored had shown a clear shift to higher temps. This time there's a shift but the spotting makes me think the hormones are not strong enough. Xx

OP posts:
EssJayyCee · 22/06/2019 09:21

@Catconfusion they probably have affected your symptoms to be fair.

I forgot to temp this morning before going to the bathroom so not sure what to record.

It was 36.30 when I got back into bed.. which is a drop from yesterday's temp..
Then I took it again after an extra 2 hours sleep and it jumped to 36.90.

I have entered 36.30 but discarded it but I'm so annoyed with myself.

I don't think I have ovulated to be honest. These temps seem too low still to be post-O

Catconfusion · 22/06/2019 16:07

Oh no @EssJayyCee so easy to do. To be honest the Ovusense is well worth the money. I paid £150 with a voucher for a year and you get an hour long appointment with a fertility nurse included. I love that I can wake up whenever I want and as long as its in I'll have a temperature I can rely on. It was a lot of money to find just before our wedding but it's been worth it.

My ovulation window has disappeared from Ovusense. FF is still convinced I ovulated. The spotting and pain is still there so if it hasn't cleared up early next week I'm seeing the doctor. I just hope its not a cyst! xx

EssJayyCee · 23/06/2019 10:05

@Catconfusion I don't think I'd feel comfortable with having that inside if you know what I mean that's why I temp orally.

What do you think to my chart? Do you think O happened on CD10 like it says?

Yes, definitely go to the doctors if it doesn't stop or amount to AF.. is it possible for early pregnancy symptom? Extended implantation or has it been happening for too long?

Trying to conceive first child with PCO/PCOS or irregular long cycles
Catconfusion · 23/06/2019 11:07

That's the only problem with Ovusense. It's so good at letting you know what's going on but if you feel it will be uncomfortable it might not be for you. I don't really notice it personally but that's me.

I'm not convinced about day 10. They remain quite low still for the whole week. Post O temps are about 36.80. I really hope it happens soon for you. Have you tried the cheapy opks? they work well with Premom app. If you get a peak on one of them and sustained rises its usually a sure thing.

So AF came last night just 6 days after I thought I o'ed so probably annovulatory. Its the most convincing failed one I've had. On the brightside it means I can drink on my birthday and at least it didn;t drag on. This cycle has been 43 days which isn't too bad. Onwards and upwards I guess! xx

OP posts:
EssJayyCee · 23/06/2019 12:01

@Catconfusion my highest post O temp is 36.73 so I still think it's possible.. usually range between 36.45 and 36.73.

Catconfusion · 23/06/2019 12:09

@EssJayyCee it's the fluctuations though back down that make it difficult to say. Post O temps are sustained and have an upward trend usually. It's so frustrating when there's not a definite answer. Xx

OP posts:
EssJayyCee · 23/06/2019 12:30

@Catconfusion sorry forgot to finish my message. I have tried opks but because of how long my cycles are iend up using nearly the whole lot in 1 cycle and it ends up expensive.

Ah at least you can begin again now. That confusing cycle is over draw a line and start again 😌

EssJayyCee · 23/06/2019 12:33

This is the trend of my post O temps so they do go up and down a bit anyway.

I think I'm just trying to convince myself.
It's probably not going to happen so any slight chance I over think it.

I swear I just need to come to the terms of the fact I will never have a baby.

Sister in law announced she is pregnant today.

I feel like my heart has been ripped out.

Catconfusion · 26/06/2019 18:18

I’m so sorry to hear that @EssJayyCee had they been trying long? It’s not fair that it’s so hard for us and not other people. Don’t lose hope though or feel bad about distancing yourself. Does she know you’re trying? Xx

OP posts:
EssJayyCee · 26/06/2019 18:47

@Catconfusion I knew they were thinking of trying but didn't know for definite.

It will be their second.. their first is only 11 months. Shes still breast feeding as well.

It's so amazing that she is pregnant for a second time because she was told she would never have children. So I am incredibly happy for her but I can't help feeling so sad deep down. I cried when I read the message from her.
