Is it me or does number 2 seem to take longer to conceive?

Hi Ladies, I am on cycle 7 of TTC n2. Why does it take sooo long?? I am currently on my 2ww and my af is due Monday. I have used ovulation tests this month and everything seems as it should. Fingers crossed it happens this month... Somehow I am convincing myself i have different symptoms this months which is always a bit dangerous...

crazychemist · 25/07/2019 13:29

Greetings @Arantzap. its gruelling, isn’t it? I’m sure part of the reason is the difficulty of dtd often enough! I also suspect I feel the passage of time more because I have DD in front of me, and i also work less than I did before so have more days when it’s on my mind

Arantzap · 25/07/2019 13:47

I am currently 11dpo and have pink discharge 🤔🤔 this ttc is driving me insane 😂 symptom spotting is just not health. How are you getting on crazychemist?

Explorers10 · 26/07/2019 19:13

@Chips4dinneragain how many weeks are you now? Do you know if you are having a boy or girl?

@crazychemist I’ve got my fingers crossed for you that it happen soon for you

Hi again chips!

It might have been. Yesterday I had a little bit of mucus that was slightly pink, but no more bleeding. By my reckoning I’m 6dpo, so I’m really hoping that was implantation bleeding. I have some sensitivity and cramping, so I’m desperately hoping that my period doesn’t start, my LP is normally short so I’m worried that we’re conceiving but the poor little thing doesn’t get a chance before AF starts!

Wrigleys123 · 27/07/2019 11:36

Welcome Arantz Smile I am due on Monday too. Don't think this will be the month as didn't try many times due to arguments with my boyfriend and the heat!

Chemist hope you are enjoying your mini break! Any sign of AF or still spotting?

Hope everyone else is doing alright Wink

Chips4dinneragain · 27/07/2019 14:39

Hey explorers I'm 20 weeks on Monday and have my detailed scan on Wednesday so will find out the sex then. How far along are you and how are you feeling?

Oh chemist that sounds promising, when is AF due/when are you testing? I had a short luteal phase and found that taking a high dose vitamin c and a high dose vitamin B complex helped, I took it for 3 cycles and it lengthened by a day or 2 each cycle with me conceiving on cycle 3.

Fingers crossed for you anyway wrigleys, it only takes one time, albeit within a very small window!

Explorers10 · 27/07/2019 22:29

@Chips4dinneragain how exciting let us know how you get on with your scan. I'm now 9 weeks, been more sick this time round. Scan in 3 weeks time

crazychemist · 28/07/2019 15:55

Wow, chips, I can’t believe you’re 20 weeks! That’s flown by! So exciting. Sorry to hear you’re sick explorers, hopefully not for too much longer (I can’t remember when these things usually clear up, but is it end of the first trimester?)

I’m 8dpo. Caved and POAS today (no surprise, BFN) because if it had been positive I could tell DH before he goes away with the navy for 2 weeks of training. Don’t have another one with me, so will now have to be good until I get home next Friday, which if AF hasn’t turned up by then would be 13dpo, so a sensible time to test. AF has been showing up usually around 9-11dpo I think.

wrigleys, are things going better with the boyfriend now? It sounded like you had quite some drama, hope you’re ok.

Arantzap · 29/07/2019 06:52

Unfortunately I am out this month 😭 I should stop looking for signs of pregnancy as it never works 😩😩 good luck to all of you ladies

Wrigleys123 · 29/07/2019 09:59

Sorry to hear you're out Arantz, I do the same every month! I might not be far behind you as AF is due today.

Chemist at least you won't be tempted to test again until you get home and hopefully will be positive then! Things are okay with the b/f now thanks, just family and in-law stuff the usual!

Chips good luck for the scan, how exciting! Do you have a daughter or a son already? Will be nice to find out!

Explorers hope you are not feeling too sick today!

Explorers10 · 29/07/2019 10:44

It’s each morning I feel sick but once I’ve had breakfast I feel a lot better. Been sick a few times in the morning and it’s mainly when I’m in the kitchen and can smell strong smells. Hopefully will clear by end of 1st trimester, another 2 weeks to go. I wonder if I’m having a boy this time as wasn’t as sick last time when I was pregnant with my daughter

Hi all, would you mind if I joined? I'm 29, have a DS who is 3 next week and in our first cycle of TTC number 2. I'm already driving myself mad. It took 3 cycles last time yet for some reason I've convinced myself that as we've finally made a decision about having a second it will just happen. Obviously it doesn't actually work that way!

AF due in a week, 5th August, which seems like forever away at the moment. Driving myself crazy symptom spotting already.

Chips4dinneragain · 29/07/2019 14:15

Sorry to hear you're feeling sick explorers my second pregnancy has been very different so far; not as much sickness and started later and finished earlier than with DD, but unfortunately havent had that second trimester 'lift' as still feeling really exhausted, I imagine that's more to do with life in general though as having a non sleeping 3 year old doesn't lend itself to taking it easy.

I'm impressed you manage to be so controlled with POAS chemist fingers crossed for Friday for you....

I've got a 3yo DD wrigleys although she will be 4 by the time no.2 arrives. I hadn't planned for this gap but actually I'm feeling quite relived I didnt have them closer together, DD is finally starting to get relatively independent and can entertain herself a bit, still not sleeping through the night consistantly though.

Sorry to hear you're out arantzap, how frustrating, you planning on doing anything different next cycle?

Welcome hopeful you never know you might be lucky but as you might see from this thread the TTC the first time doesn't necessarily predict how it will go the secon time, I think most of us got pregnant within a few cycles the first time but have struggled with no.2. impossible not to get your hopes up every cycle though!

HopefulButScared · 29/07/2019 16:32

Thank you, chips. I'm trying to calm myself down a bit and remember it can take a while, and could take a lot longer than last time. I think I'm just a bit overexcited at having actually come to a decision to start trying.

Arantzap · 29/07/2019 16:53

Thanks ladies. Yes we will continue to try. It's just a bit disheartening when nothing is happening.
Fingers crossed everything goes week for you ladies 😊

crazychemist · 29/07/2019 21:58

Bugger, think I’m out. Bright red blood when I went to the loo and I’ve got the cramps I usually get for AF. This will be yet another time when I don’t make it to 10dpo I think. I think I just need to accept I need to go and see my doctor, don’t I? I really don’t want to go, it feels like it’ll be more real if I have to tell someone how long we’ve been trying, we haven’t really told anyone.

Wrigleys123 · 29/07/2019 22:16

Argh sorry to hear that chemist - I don't think going to the docs is a bad idea, it will give you some more control over the situation hopefully

Arantzap · 30/07/2019 07:22

Sorry to hear crazychemist 😩 if you are worried might be worth a visit. 😘

HopefulButScared · 30/07/2019 09:02

I'm sorry, chemist. From what you've put there, it sounds like a trip to the doc might be a good idea. I can understand it would be really scary to actually have to say what is happening, but it also might bring some relief to acknowledge it and feel that you are doing something?

Chips4dinneragain · 30/07/2019 14:19

Oh no, sorry to hear it chemist. I found it really tough to actually say the words out loud to my GP and got quite emotional, but it was a relief to be getting help from a healthcare professional.

crazychemist · 30/07/2019 22:04

Guess I should make an appointment when I get home. Feeling really flat about it, kind of takes the shine off the holiday a bit. DD was a bit grouchy all day today as well, could have done without that. DH is going to be so disappointed when I tell him, he knew I’d know either way when I saw him next (he’s away with the navy for another week).

On the bright side, I have some heavy drinking friends coming at the weekend, so hopefully I can distract myself with gin

Wrigleys123 · 31/07/2019 13:29

Hope you are feeling okay Chemist - good plan with the gin drinking!

CD31 here and waiting patiently for AF!

Welcome Hopeful hopefully it won't take long for number 2 for you!

The longer I don't conceive the more I put myself off of having another, is that just me? Grin

Explorers10 · 01/08/2019 20:59

@chips4dinneragain

How did your scan go? Smile

Chips4dinneragain · 02/08/2019 13:21

All fine thanks explorers, found out we are having a boy which feels like a shock as for some reason had just presumed it was a girl?!? When is your 12 week scan?

How's everyone else getting on?
