Beautiful pic @Megan2018 xx

God I’m having the weirdest cycle already. Three days of really light af, then stopped, then on cd6, 7 and 9 (today), a tiny bit of brown cm when I wiped - each time just once in the day. Wtf? I’ve never spotted after af before. Can’t help thinking the worst. Guess I have to wait for results of the tests next week

Cleozeta · 05/03/2019 11:29

I always get brown spotting after af, usually up until around cd9, then cd11 & 12 ewcm can be brown tinged. Mine is perimenopause related. Got used to it now

Cleozeta · 05/03/2019 11:34

My periods started changing when I was 39 (very heavy or very light), I went to the GP as I thought I was clearly dying.
No one prepares us for this stage of life. I wonder how many panicking 40 somethings have turned up at doctors surgeries with expectations of doom, only to be told it's normal, just a taboo secret.
The good news though, is while all this crazy shit is going on, it's still possible to conceive.

karryk · 05/03/2019 14:45

Hello ladies Smile hope you're all well. Just popping by. Am in the 2ww although a bit confused about when ovulation happened but heyho...am probably about 4/5dpo now.

@Gizmojo I get this every cycle and have done for at least a couple of years now. Just when I think the period is over I get some more blood-tinged mucus after having a couple of days without! I'll be 42 in the summer so am assuming it's an age thing. I had my daughter at 40 and was already having light periods (they got lighter from my mid to late 30s) so it certainly didn't affect things in term of conception 👍🏼

Xx

Gizmojo · 05/03/2019 14:50

Thanks for your answers, @cleozeta and @karryk. I just wish there was some consistency - things seem to be changing from month to month at the moment!

Megan2018 · 05/03/2019 15:25

I've always had very light periods.
I was on the pill from 16 until into my 30's, then I stopped hormone contraception due to BP.
On or off the pill they were pretty light and painless - 2 days bleeding. Day 1 heavy-ish, then a day of light, then a day of nothing, then a few days of brown or brown-ish discharge that might stop and start.
They haven't changed at all yet.

Cycle length has altered very slightly - I was 26-27 day on average off the pill with the odd 24/25 day one. Then just before I conceived I had a 28 day cycle and tested because I thought I was late, the month after got BFP. I don't know if that was a factor!

Hi everyone - lovely scan pic @Megan2018 - you must feel so delighted!
@Russkispy - good to hear your follicles are growing - don't worry if you are needing a couple extra days - I don't think it's a bad thing.
Had midwife appointment yesterday - the most dull form filling appointment ever. I did ask if she would listen on Doppler - but was a def no, far too early. She did however ring the EPU for me and I'm booked in for a scan tomorrow to check the babies are ok as I just can't cope with waiting any longer. I am scared they are no longer alive in there. My sickness has subsided - I'm still tired a lot, but my boobs don't feel so sore either. I'm just so scared Sad - so getting v nervous.

@Hobbes39
I was a tearful, shaking mess before the 10 wk scan for NIPT. I told them I didn't want to look, so I had my eyes clamped shut streaming tears until I heard her say "I can see the heartbeat, baby very wriggly". Then I properly sobbed. I was convinced there would be nothing there.

I did the same at the 12wk but luckily sonographer also found the heartbeat in seconds and then I could open eyes. I cried a bit less that time as wasn't so overwhelmed but it was still terrifying.

I have had very mild symptoms generally which adds to the terror. I know exactly how you feel and I can't say it is getting any better. I think I will be feeling the same until I feel her move - and then I will have a whole load of new things to worry about.

Good luck at your scan, I wish there was something I could say to reassure - but I think it just is a terrifying time all round unfortunately!

Chatbash72 · 06/03/2019 09:41

@Hobbes39 sending big hugs.. a window into our uterus' would be soooo useful and obviously a big design flaw 💕

Karigan195 · 06/03/2019 10:07

Sending as many positive vibes as I can for today Hobbes

Karigan195 · 06/03/2019 10:10

Symptoms do come and go so dont read anything into them. I was also convinced that a scan would show a mmc and was a bit of a wreck. I’m starting to be able to feel him now though. Little light movements like bubbles which I find very reassuring. I’m sure they are still there and fine

KristieP2018 · 06/03/2019 10:33

Hugs Hobbes! Sending you good thoughts.

Lexilooo · 06/03/2019 12:38

🤞 hobbes, really hope everything is ok

Rose68 · 06/03/2019 12:47

@Littlemimosa if no-one took the royal jelly off your hands I would like it! Sorry to take so long to respond. Possibly the other stuff too, although I’m not sure what they do.

@Hobbes good luck for your scan!

Onlyinanemergency · 06/03/2019 13:06

Just wanted to check in and let you know that to my total amazement they found a heartbeat today at the scan. It was an abdominal one too, whereas they couldn't even find a yolk sac last week with a vaginal scan. Dated 6+1 which is roughly what I thought. Amazing the difference a week makes. I'm still getting a lot of crampy feelings but they don't want to see my back for another 6 weeks. It's not really sunk in yet! Good luck Hobbes and everyone else this week.

Cleo..your msg made me lol!

Megan..bless you x. I can only imagine how that must have felt. I missed the whole first 12 wks!! But I was a sobbing mess when I saw DS on the scan for the first time.. I never imagined it was a baby in there! I thought I was peri-menopausal when AF went all wonky and all along it was DS!!

Hobbes..sending you lots of love and good vibes for your scan tomorrow x

Onlyinanemergency...hurrah! Great news! x
