  • Thou shalt not give advice to others when TTC for one month only
  • Thou shalt not participate in one-up-manship and realise TTC is shit for everyone in different ways
  • Thou shall allow posters to be fucked off with the world and everything in it at regular points in the month
  • Thou shalt not be offended by strong language
  • Thou shalt not tell everyone to eat yams
  • Thou shall accept being called a muppet for testing at 7dpo at 9pm at night
  • Thou shalt not symptom spot during the two week wait and must be prepared for a telling off if you do so.

Knowing that my next cycles a no hoper but when I'm in it it's kind of a relief x

NoseringGirl · 22/08/2019 22:20

@Lilzpk I've always had baths, I love them! I have them fairly warm as well. I'm more careful about the temp in pregnancy but as long as you're not feeling overheated, it's okay!

@Rosieposy89 sorry AF got you, I hope the doctors appointment goes well. Some of them are more sympathetic and will start testing earlier than the year mark. It can depend on your age as well as things like how regular your cycles are though.

@impatientmammy they all cost a fortune! I got my Ava back when they were about £70 cheaper than they are now. I was shocked by how much they put the price up! I do love it and I was lucky enough to make my money back through the referral program but I'm not sure I'd want to pay the £250 or whatever it is now!

@dragonmummy17 well it does only take the once! A break can be a good thing though. This process is all consuming.

impatientmammy · 24/08/2019 13:33

Caught my other half shall we say doing things on his own this morning. Obviously I burst into tears shouted your wasting it all and left. Not even fucking fertile at this point what has my life even become (I'm still angry with him 😂🤦🏻‍♀️) x

impatientmammy · 26/08/2019 14:07

Another failed cycle only 23 days long x

NoseringGirl · 27/08/2019 16:32

@impatientmammy TTC does strange things to you! I probably would've shouted as well 🙈 sorry to hear AF got you. Best wishes for this cycle!

CD8 here and have started doing digital OPKs this month. Got sick of trying to figure out which line was darker on the cheapie ones. Hopefully I'll actually ovulate and it won't just be a waste of money! I honestly just think I only use OPKs to make myself feel like I'm actually doing something and to try and feel in control. So much of TTC just feels passive and out of my control.

impatientmammy · 27/08/2019 19:57

@NoseringGirl I sooo miss using the digital OPKs it really helped me mentally I know if my periods going to be late because I know when ovulation was and get less unpleasant surprises. I just can't justify the cost when it's such a long term thing. I hope you find it helps you as much as it did me.
Well I had very dark period/spotting for one day I use a mensural cup so I used that saw a tiny bit of red but mainly brown/black and probs not even a quarter of a cup. Used it again today I've been feeling sick all day and cramping has been all on the right which is odd. So I got home and it's empty 🤔 I am 98% sure I'm just setting myself up to be crushed but unfortunately I have a little nagging bit of hope. My periods due Friday and I also have a fertility appointment with the drs x

NoseringGirl · 27/08/2019 20:22

@impatientmammy going to ask the obvious question, have you tested? Or are you waiting until AF is due?

Lilzpk · 27/08/2019 21:07

@imaptientmammy, I hope your doing ok, I've my fingers crossed for you, the timing with spotting could be implantation.

@nosering girl, I'm not sure which digital opk you're using but if you have long/irregular cycles( did you mention PCOS?) The clearblue advanced digital( the purple cap sticks) are more trouble than they're worth. I would fully recommend easy@home cheapies or wondfo but they are a bit less clear, I've some pictures of the positives if it might help you in recognising when that happens.

NoseringGirl · 27/08/2019 21:44

@Lilzpk I do have PCOS, I know it's a bit of a risk with the digitals. Am prepared for getting days of highs but no peaks. I've been ovulating again though so I'm hoping I'll get better results! I've used the easy@home ones before, I've just never got on with those strip OPKs. Though I was looking at some earlier, they're the PreMom semi quantitative tests, I think that's what they're called? They're apparently good for women with PCOS and irregular cycles but they're only available in the states from what I can see and it costs a fortune to get them shipped!
Will see how I get on with the digitals this month. I used them the month I conceived DS2 and got a positive then which is probably why I wanted to try them again!

Lilzpk · 27/08/2019 22:43

@Noseringgirl, the pre-mom app can also use other brands, it reads easy@home, premium and then "other". It's really great for reading the ratio and test to control line.

I'm glad you've had the experience with the digital, I was just concerned for you re: the PCOS. So many have trouble with the advanced one, I think mainly not understanding what it's actually reading and how they work. The normal pink ones are great for everyone though and not quite as expensive. I hope you at the very least get some of the feeling of reassurance/control, ttc is almost totally out of our hands after a point, I know I get very frustrated not being able to do anything

impatientmammy · 27/08/2019 22:45

@NoseringGirl I havnt tested I don't tend to get a posative until AF is due having short cycles which means when they're negative I don't believe them anyway 🙄 I think I know I'm not pregnant anyway so if the nausea goes away ir if I keep myself busy enough I'll be fine. I'll test Saturday but I'm sure I wont get the chance. Let me know how things go with the clearblues I have everything crossed for you
Thank you @Lilzpk it is the right time for implantation however spotting is normal for me. Just not normally this dark and I don't normally get as much nausea as I've had this month. It is probably just hormonal though x

NoseringGirl · 27/08/2019 23:08

@impatientmammy I'll be keeping everything crossed for you that AF doesn't show! Good luck with the doctors appointment as well!

@Lilzpk I've used the premom app with regular OPKs but I find it quite hit and miss with how it reads them (same with the Femometer app). Apparently these premom strips can register the difference between the false LH rises that women with PCOS can experience and the ones that lead to ovulation. I'm not too sure how it works though! At least with the advanced digitals, I'll know when it's the estrogen rising and when there's a LH surge. I temp as well so I can see the dips and small rises that seem to happen when my body tries and fails to ovulate. I just like gathering data Grin

Lilzpk · 28/08/2019 08:32

@NoseringGirl I can totally relate to that! I find having data collected is reassuring, I have to feel like I'm achieving something. Plus it gives me a fairly good amount to tell the obgyn. I've seen a video on those pre-mom stick on YouTube, I think it was in the fertility homeopath channell. I don't really put stock in homeopathy tbh but she's get lots of good info on fertility in general. The pre-mom opks sounds great if they can do that, shame they aren't selling this side of the pond

NoseringGirl · 28/08/2019 08:51

@Lilzpk I'll have a look for the video, they do sound interesting, hopefully there'll be a version of them out here soon.

I got a high reading on the OPK today, I know it might take a while to get a peak or I may not get one at all but it was exciting to see a flashing smiley and it matches the dip in temps I've been getting.

Lilzpk · 28/08/2019 09:47

I'm having a freak out this morning. Obvious second line on a boots hcg test. I've had a vomiting bug for a few days, oh made a morning sickness joke so I cracked and tested. They are 25mcg/unit tests but, stupidly I then took a frer which looks negative. I'm just so annoyed with myself for even testing, don't know what to think

impatientmammy · 28/08/2019 10:50

I hope your ok @Lilzpk I wish I had some advice hopefully it's just a false negative or you've drank too much water and diluted the sample.
Af came today but tbh it's a relief I think my hormones must settle on cd1 cause I always feel a bit better about things x

Lilzpk · 28/08/2019 12:04

Thank you. I'm feeling relatively ok. Obviously dying to know either way but oh says just give it time, which is the right advice I know but it doesn't help feeling impatient. I've never had such an obvious line and can't stop looking at it!! I'm only 10dpo and really need to wait. I've always bought into frers being holy Grail tests so I'm more inclined to believe the negative on that but can't help being hopefull and a little excited.

NoseringGirl · 29/08/2019 15:23

@Lilzpk I honestly don't think FRERs are as good as they used to be. I've had convincing lines on a couple of different brands before and barely anything on a FRER. My friend has also shown me her tests recently where the amount of dye on the control line (on a negative) varied wildly between tests.
How are you feeling today? Did you test again?
Keeping everything crossed for you!

@impatientmammy sorry for AF but glad you're feeling better!

CD10 here and a second high on the OPK with my temp dropping further. Hopefully my body is gearing up to ovulate in the next week or so.

justbeingelle · 30/08/2019 08:11

I kind of disappeared again, it's so rough TTC and it helps taking myself away from everything. AF has arrived again which officially marks one year of trying. I definitely didn't think it would take this long. Not a hint of a BFP.

We've started fertility testing though. My blood tests came back fine. DH was supposed to have his sperm analysis 2 weeks ago but the pressure was too much for him and he wasn't able to ... you know, it's tough on the men too. He has another apt for 4 weeks time which was the earliest they could offer. We also have an appointment at our local hospital in 3 weeks, it looks like for a vaginal ultrasound, does anyone know what that would be for?

Hope you're all ok ladies. We need to be kind to ourselves, this journey is so tough.

Lilzpk · 30/08/2019 08:58

Vaginal ultrasound is fine, they'll have a look and see how the ovaries are looking and check for cysts and the condition of lining etc. They may also take some swabs to test for gonerhea and Chlamydia, when I first went for testing they told me that's where they start as standard, but I'm in Ireland so it may be a different depending on where you are. Good luck

justbeingelle · 30/08/2019 16:14

@Lilzpk thank you, I feel better now knowing what to expect.

Lilzpk · 01/09/2019 11:18

Still having a stressful time, one very obvious bfp at 10 dpo, waited then had mostly negative tests, two frers could have been faint but it's so hard to know. I'm now 13dpo late for af, having some cramps that come and go but not overly noticeable. Surely if I had concieved i would have have blazing positives by now whatever the brand. I've a feeling af is going to arrive like a hurricane any time now, that would answer my curiosity about wtf is going on with me. Oh thinks maybe chemical, my gp is useless so I don't think I'll bother trying to ask him

MorgenMuffel · 01/09/2019 18:41

Hi 👋 can I join please?

TTC #1 for 18+ months now with no hint of a BFP...in fact don't even bother testing now. Struggling with it all a bit at the mo. Initial tests for us both fine which is good but frustrating at the same time! Feel so hopeless and that I've left it to late. Sad

Have a HSG and hycosy booked for tomorrow but having a longer period than usual so don't think they'll do it. So annoyed at my body letting me down again Angry

On hols later in the week so something to look forward to at least. Due to ovulate whilst away so we can have lots of fun dtd Grin when back going to focus on making sure my diet is the best it can be - that's something I can control at least.

What vitamins / supplements / herbal medicines have people found helpful?

NoseringGirl · 01/09/2019 20:50

@Lilzpk I'm so sorry you're in limbo, it's a stressful situation to be in. I hope you get an answer soon and I hope that answer is a clear BFP!!

@justbeingelle sorry AF got you again and that you've reached that year milestone. It's not a nice one. Good luck with all the testing, I hope you get some answers!

@MorgenMuffel welcome! I hope your stay here is short one. Good luck with HSG and hycosy, hopefully it can go ahead! A holiday sounds like a great thing to look forward to, excellent timing with the ovulation Grin

CD13 here and still just highs on the OPK. I know it's still early days but I would quite like a peak! I did know this was a risk with the digitals. Even when I ovulate I never seem to get a clear positive on those cheapies though! I'm doing well at sticking to low/no sugar so hopefully that will help me.

NoseringGirl · 01/09/2019 20:54

@MorgenMuffel meant to add, supplements wise, I take CoQ10, omega 3 (DHA and EPA), 'hormonal balance' (which has various b vitamins and vitamin c in it) along with iron supplements, high dose folic acid and metformin which are prescribed by my doctor. The metformin and some of the supplements I take are because of PCOS. I must rattle when I walk the amount of pills I take now!!
