@mussie I had to look up PUPO but I love it! Congrats on your digital! Xx

HMIB · 11/02/2019 14:38

@mussie really hoping you ovulated later!! Please let us know when you've tested again!! 😊

mussie · 11/02/2019 16:17

@WildFlower2019 I think pupo is more of an IVF thing but probably applies in this case! I've been mulling over how it says 1-2 when really it should say 2-3 or 3+, but then if I have miscarried already, it would only have been at 15dpo at the latest (when the bleeding got heavy) so would have expected a negative test by now 6 days later. Surely the hCG levels wouldn't have got high enough to linger around for longer than a couple of days. But I suppose only time will tell.

WildFlower2019 · 11/02/2019 16:58

@mussie I really wish I had answers for you! The only thing I can think of is a double ovulation? Maybe two eggs released, both fertilised and something happened to one of them? I've no idea. Have you tried posting/searching for anybody going through similar?

Do let us know how you get on, I'm really intrigued. I've got everything crossed for you x X x

mussie · 11/02/2019 17:12

@WildFlower2019 you know I did have some EWCM at 13dpo 🤔 thought it was a bit weird. Obviously didn't do an OPK and was bleeding a little at that point so really did not have ovulation in my mind at all. Temps also stayed high the whole time. I have looked for how long you get a positive after a mc - answers vary widely, for some it's as soon as the bleeding starts and for others it's days/weeks. So I'm only going by how quickly I got a negative with my previous mc, I would hope that my body would do the same thing if it was happening again! By that standard, it should have been BFN today and obviously wasn't. I will get searching for other people who have been through similar - not hopeful I'll find many! This is too weird to be a common occurrence 😂

mussie · 11/02/2019 17:34

Seems to be a mix of miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies and healthy pregnancies. I'm a HCP so I have access to the EPU policies on the intranet - will have a read. Might phone them tomorrow after all. If it's an ectopic then I really want that sorted ASAP because I don't want to lose a tube 😢

WildFlower2019 · 11/02/2019 19:32

That's a very good idea @mussie better to be safe than sorry. Worst they can tell you to do is to test again and phone back in a week. I hadn't considered ectopic. X

mussie · 12/02/2019 18:27

@WildFlower2019 went to EPU. Had a scan - no intrauterine pregnancy seen, and very thin uterine lining so it would be unlikely. Their theory is an early miscarriage where the hCG is still showing up afterwards, but I disagree. I think if my hCG had been so high that it was taking a week to come down, then it should have been positive before the bleeding started, and it wasn't. My bet is ectopic. They've taken bloods today and got an appt to check again on Thursday, so that will be more definitive. So just got to wait til then really. Lovely valentines present!

WildFlower2019 · 12/02/2019 19:11

Oh my gosh, I really hope it isn't ectopic. I am so sorry either way, awful getting your hopes up to then receive bad news. X

Chanel05 · 12/02/2019 20:18

@mussie hope it isn’t ectopic! Let us know how the scan goes.

How is everyone doing? I’ve been avoiding MN for the last week to forget about ttc for a minute. Going to dtd every other day for the next two weeks starting tonight!

mussie · 14/02/2019 16:36

hCG today had risen to 234. So leftover hCG from an early miscarriage has been ruled out. Ectopic pregnancy and a viable ongoing pregnancy are both still on the table. Another hCG booked for Saturday and potentially another scan Sunday if the hCG is still doubling, to see where this pregnancy is. Keeping my fingers crossed that this bean is sensibly implanted in the right place, and not causing havoc 🤞🏻

HMIB · 14/02/2019 18:25

@mussie oh I'm so hoping it's positive news for you!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻. X

mussie · 14/02/2019 18:59

@HMIB me too! Trying not to hope too much but obviously it's tricky to stay realistic. Not long to wait though. Less than 48 hours now 🙃

WildFlower2019 · 15/02/2019 22:21

Hi @Chanel05 I tend to avoid MN for a week or two at the end of my cycle. Back now as I think my fertile window is “opening” again in a day or two. Hope you’re well. There’s a new thread now for those TTC if you want to join it: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/conception/3504590-TTC-November-Baby

OMG @mussie I really do have everything crossed for you. Please let us know how you get on tomorrow.

HMIB · 16/02/2019 09:41

@mussie how are you getting on. X

mussie · 16/02/2019 11:22

@HMIB I'm good thank you. Had sore boobs yesterday and I was delighted! Felt really nauseous and faint this morning but that was potentially sleep deprivation more than anything else. I know I'd probably get symptoms from an ectopic pregnancy as well, so I'm trying not to view pregnancy symptoms as a good thing, but when you've been TTC for so long it's tough not to get excited!

I did some reading and found that with my uterine lining of about 7mm, there's a 23% chance that the pregnancy sticks around long enough to see on scan. Then if it gets to that point, I've got a 10% chance of ectopic, 27% chance of miscarriage and 63% chance of a live birth. So I'm really hoping to get to the point where I can see it on scan, because that's where the odds are really against me! After that it's obviously not smooth sailing, but 37% chance of loss is much better than 77%. Hoping that my new pregnancy symptoms mean things are still progressing. My hCG appointment is at 2pm, should hopefully have the results and a plan by 5pm. I'll update when I get the result!

HMIB · 16/02/2019 12:55

@mussie I've got my fingers tightly crossed for you. Really hope it's a good outcome. Xx

mussie · 16/02/2019 18:32

Bad news - hCG is still rising but not as fast as it should. So more likely to be ectopic. Booked in for another scan tomorrow. I’m sure it’ll still be too early to see anything but they’re keen to try 🤷🏼‍♀️

HMIB · 16/02/2019 18:56

@mussie oh no!! I bet it's horrible not knowing. Do you know what they'll do if they still don't see anything tomorrow?! Xx

mussie · 16/02/2019 19:11

@HMIB I think it's either another blood test or scan in a couple of days. I'm well and have no bleeding or pain or any other symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy, so really it's just keeping going with the monitoring until it's obvious either way what's going on. I'm going to have to speak to my boss, because the amount of time I'm having to spend away from work is getting a bit too much to get away with 😬

WildFlower2019 · 17/02/2019 09:24

Oh @mussie there's nothing I can say except I really am crossing everything hoping for the best outcome. Good luck at your scan today xxxx

mussie · 17/02/2019 12:07

Scan showed nothing. So they think it's either a non viable pregnancy or it's ectopic, so they're recommending the methotrexate either way. I decided I wanted one more hCG tomorrow, and then the methotrexate is booked for tomorrow afternoon provided that the hCG levels are still not where they should be. Means I can't TTC for three months. Pretty gutted.

WildFlower2019 · 18/02/2019 14:10

Oh @mussie I'm so sorry. It's hard enough to have all this messing around but then to wait three months before you can try again - it's just added pain Xx

WildFlower2019 · 18/02/2019 14:12

By messing around I meant the rollercoaster of emotions and waiting/worrying. The sadness of getting your period, then the joy of getting a positive test, then the lows of worrying and appointments and scans and blood draws etc. Xx

mussie · 18/02/2019 14:18

@WildFlower2019 the appointment today was actually another curveball. My hCG had only risen by 3 in about 43 hours. So they think it had maybe risen higher and then has now started falling. If this is the case, then hopefully my body is miscarrying naturally and I won't need the methotrexate. So it was cancelled for today and another hCG check booked in for Wednesday. It really is a rollercoaster! I'm just hoping and praying that this is it sorting itself out, and I can be back to normal in the next week or two and hopefully back to TTC. Can only wait and see what the hCG is doing. Still in limbo for a while longer.
