I'm sorry lovely. I have long irregular cycles too, if it helps I went to a fertility specialist and he said that just because your cycle is longer or irregular doesn't mean you won't get pregnant all it means is you have less chances/year than other people. As long as you are ovulating.
If you just got your +opk then you are likely to ovulate between 12-36 hours so as long as you Dtd as soon as you can you should still be well within time. I know it is hard but try to stay positive as you're definitely still in with a very good chance this cycle.

Hadaley · 13/11/2018 09:36

Thank you, @FlapJackered

Flowers

I really appreciate your kind words.

purplefig · 13/11/2018 09:42

Morning all! AF still lingering. Think I'm going to try the SMEP with OPKs this month. Honestly don't think we've actually had sex on the right day on either of the previous two cycles we've been trying. Ooops!

@SophiePie welcome - we have exactly the same stats! Though I'm only CD6 of cycle 3. I think I can see a faint line - are you testing again soon?

@Delilah7 sucks that even work can't be an escape for you at the mo. Do you think you'll feel better once the results and scan are out of the way?

@FivexFive congrats - what fab news!

@crossfitgirl oh I didn't know you were in the process of moving - how exciting! Will you be in before Christmas?

@Hadaley That is so strange. Couple of thoughts:

  1. In 'The Impatient Woman's Guide' she says people ovulate anywhere from 12 - 48 hours after a +OPK, so there's every chance you'll be covered if you have sex when your partner gets in. And if you are ovulating on day 27 - maybe that's later than usual and if you do get AF this month it'll consequently come much later.
  2. But why would you get a +OPK on day 15? Do you think there could be a chance this one is wrong and the earlier one is right? Or - hear me out! - can't OPKs be used as a pregnancy test too? Could be worth a test.
Hadaley · 13/11/2018 09:54

@purplefig

That's two positive scenarios. I've never had a cycle longer than 36 days in my life. If ovulation happens tomorrow or the day after, I'd need this cycle to be at least 38 days long to have an "acceptable" luteal phase.

I will do a pregnancy test later today just in case. However, from what I hear, ovulation tests don't turn positive as pregnancy tests before you would get a positive pregnancy test (because pregnancy tests are more sensitive). And it would be very early for me to even get a positive on a sensitive pregnancy test.

Delilah7 · 13/11/2018 10:00

@purplefig I really hope so 😔

OP posts:
purplefig · 13/11/2018 10:06

@Hadaley It's so frustrating when you're in the thick of it. I bawled my eyes out for various reasons last cycle - it's so hard to just accept we're not in control. I hope you get your BFP soon Flowers

purplefig · 13/11/2018 10:08

@Delilah7 I hope so too. Bu if you feel your anxiety spiking up again after, it might be worth looking into some ways of positively managing it. Otherwise it's going to be a real slog for 9 months Flowers

EltzBee · 13/11/2018 10:11

@Hadaley my body tried to ovulate twice a month or so ago - it tried at my normal point in the cycle and seemed to 'fail', so tried again a few days later. I had negative OPKs inbetween. I only re-checked due to fertile CM. So our bodies can do slightly strange things which then affect our cycles..

Managed to fail at DTD every other day, we were both too tired yesterday. Still no positive OPK though yet so will be back on the BD-ing tonight, I'm trying to think that missing one night isn't going to make a crazy difference as the lil guys will still be there from the previous time if I did suddenly Ov.

Oh totally get the whole 'calorie deficit' thing. What's frustrating me is I've been eating less to try and lose weight, but have put it on. Doh!

Delilah7 · 13/11/2018 10:20

Can I also ask - last week I was 5 weeks 3 days and went for a blood test. They've come back at HCG of 1150. Is that good??

OP posts:
stormtrooperjulian · 13/11/2018 10:23

@Hadaley I read somewhere that you can have a lh surge just before af starts, so potentially you could have ovulated after your last positive opk and be approaching af now?

MrsAW2018 · 13/11/2018 10:30

Currently sat crying my eyes out because AF is due on Friday and I just got a negative FRER.

This ttc stuff is so so so hard. I keep seeing people’s pregnancy and birth announcements and it’s like a kick to the stomach every time.

I’m sorry to vent like this but it’s so lonely when you can’t speak to anyone IRL about it.

Hadaley · 13/11/2018 10:31

It's also such a large gap! I've been doing OPKs all this time, and today it was positive for the first time since the 2nd of November. If last surge failed, my body sure took a long time to try again!

Combined with my >35 cycles (which I never had until about a year ago), totally unpredictable CM and cystic acne (also worse than a year ago), I am starting to suspect PCOS might be the culprit.

Hadaley · 13/11/2018 10:33

@MrsAW2018 - I feel you Flowers
I think everyone here understands.

SophiePie · 13/11/2018 10:34

@mrsof20118 I really really hope this is it, but I don't quite trust it yet

@Crossfitgirl 15dpo at time of test, now 16dpo and 5 days late

@FlapJackered Thank you for the welcome :) That's the weird part. Got two positive OPKs on CD16 and CD17. Maybe it implanted a little later than usual? (If it did at all!)

x

EltzBee · 13/11/2018 10:35

@MrsAW2018 ah bless you, sending virtual hugs. It is really hard - but do rememeber that HPTs can say negative even if you are, especially a few days before you're due. You're not out til she shows.

Totally agree with you how hard it is when you're trying, to hear about everyone elses news. I tried to explain to my DH how every month when I get AF it's almost like a type of grief for it having not happened. It is emotionally draining - but you aren't alone.

Try to keep positive; you're not definitely out yet. Are you temping too?
If she does turn up, come chat/rant with us ladies, let it get out the system and then remember next cycle is another chance.

rj995 · 13/11/2018 10:36

Hi ladies - lots to catch up on! Hope you're all well. I'm 6 DPO and symptom spotting like crazy which is mad, I know...

Sorry about AF hun, @ValidUser such a crappy time, keep thinking forward.

@Delilah7 can do understand why you have a lot of anxiety around this pregnancy, I don't know much about HGC but that seems nice and high😊

@MrsAW2018 the pearls of testing early, feeling for you! What cycle are you on? It's a long road no matter where you're at in your journey, we're all here for you to vent whenever required

@Crossfitgirl the mindfulness course sounds great, just what's needed through this journey! make the most of it😊

Delilah7 · 13/11/2018 10:36

@rj995 thanks honey. Just threading xxx

OP posts:
SophiePie · 13/11/2018 10:43

@purplefig Good luck with this cycle! Want to test again really soon but it's so faint that I'm not sure if it'll be picked up by a FRER at this point?

@MrsAW2018 TTC is such a hard and emotionally draining thing. Never cried so much in my life tbh because it is difficult when you want something so badly. Vent here as much as you want, it's a shared experience and you need support right now. I hope you feel better soon and happier news is on the horizon x

ValidUser · 13/11/2018 11:02

@Delilah7 sounds good to me. Not pregnant is below 5, doubling every 2-3 days. ❤️

SullyWifey · 13/11/2018 11:37

Hey ladies.

Oh my busy time at work has begun which means I'm out the office rather than at my desk able to catch up every dayon this lovely thread!! So I'm between appointments having quick catch up!

Welcome @SophiePie ooo that does look like a line! Fingers crossed your that lucky on cycle 3!! (Bitter cycle 11 girl over here haha!)

@FivexFive Oo congrats on the work news, it all sounds like things are falling in place for something extra positive!! (Pun intended)

@Delilah7 Hope your feeling all good today! It's sunny, (where I am anyways) and your pregnant!!! They are great things xx

@Hadaley Ah hun that's so shit. But don't stress yourself. Did you come off BC in last 6 months? What cycle you on? Only because that happened to me cycle 3 and then hasn't happened since! Well although since the. I changed from a 28 cycle to 32/33...and even thats feels so long to me!!

@purplefig What you said about bawling your eyes out, I have done that for the past god knows how many cycles but have sworn to myself I will not let that define me this month!! Sick of being an emotional wreck for like a week of each month!

@EltzBee Yes don't worry too much about not sticking to it for one night, they still in there hanging around! It's hard not to worry though. I laid in bed last night worrying that we won't DTD tonight because he's out late and debating whether I should remind him we "have to have sex tonight mate so come home pronto" but then that goes back to that pressure thing me and him spoke about last month. The things that go on In my head at night seriously! Woke up thinking why am I worrying about something that hasn't happened yet! so here's hoping he's at least thinking about it so my worry was in vain!

@MrsAW2018 honey sorry to hear but it's still so early try and not test again until Friday. Those negative tests are so hard to deal with and if we can't limit that disappointment as much as possible then I think it helps. I didn't test at all last month and although I was still a mess when AF turned up, it kinda wasn't as bad?? (Says the girl who has stocked up on tests ready for this month haha)
It's SUCH a lonely journey, you guys are the only ones I can speak to about it as no one else understands.
I'm struggling at the mo being happy for my bestie who is 7months pregnant. It's been fine up to now but it's really getting hard being happy all the time for her.

@Crossfitgirl I'm copying you now with the long posts! Sorry ladies haha.

Still no positive OPK for me yet think but it's looking like Thursday/Friday. COME ON GET ME PREGGGASSS!

Xoxoxoxoxox

SullyWifey · 13/11/2018 11:45

Oh ps: stilll waiting on DH SA results, it will be 4 weeks Friday and they still not back, doctors just keep saying sometimes it takes longer, but we were told 7 days! Thinking of going in there tomorrow and seeing if something can be done to chase it up. Or is it always this long??

EltzBee · 13/11/2018 12:10

@SullyWifey oh totally, trying to remember that the swimmers are still there haha! On it tonight no matter how tired ;) lol

Hmm that's crazy taking over 3 weeks for the Doctors to have that reult back if it's normally a week. I'd chase them up and double check what's going on. I'd have assumed they'd have to do the test within so many hours of the 'sample' and that it'd then be a case of getting the result analysed/assesed and sent back?! Just basing that on blood tests which have to be done at certain times so they get to the lab in time...

Hope work isn't too crazy! Using up holiday here, so got a 3 day week (much needed).

Also waiting on a positive OPK so looks like our cycles are close again this time :)

Delilah7 · 13/11/2018 12:11

@ValidUser fingers crossed!! Xxx

@SullyWifey this is true!! I am pregnant today!! Xxx

OP posts:
stormtrooperjulian · 13/11/2018 12:31

@MrsAW2018 vent away, we all understand how you feel Flowers it’s still early though, you’re not out til af shows

@SulleyWifey surely the sa results should be available by now, can you get your GP surgery to chase them up?

@EltzBee a 3 day week sounds amazing, I’m so jealous!

I think I should be around 3dpo. I use my Fitbit to track my rhr and usually I can see a spike after ovulation, but I’m not seeing that at the moment, my rhr seems too low for this point in my cycle, and random - it’s a bit up and down and definitely not the clear spike I usually get! So maybe I didn’t actually ovulate at all Confused..... I decided to quit caffeine last week (it was about time, been meaning to for ages), could that have affected my rhr?
