@Hadaley think it depends on your doctor and your medical history. Some people have had blood tests done sooner just because they've asked and blood tests aren't really a big deal, others have said try for a year first. mine were done cos I went and asked but I have PCOS and previous ovarian cyst. Some of us have stretched the truth a little about how long we've been trying. Xx

EltzBee · 12/11/2018 08:47

@FlapJackered oh it really is tiring, still no sign of ovulation yet for me. Bizarrely 'dry' CM situation still...Confused
Hoping my body wakes up an goes oh yeah, I'm meant to do that thing again! Need to pounce on DH again tonight Hmm Grin

Got a Dr appt this afternoon. Have been trying to lose weight for over a year and nada. Then since coming off pill I have put on a stone. How does that work?! That is despite doing the 8 hour eating window and watching what I eat. A couple of friends have suggested asking the Dr to do a proper full thyroid test.

purplefig · 12/11/2018 09:34

Happy Monday everyone! How are we all doing?

I devoured 'The Impatient Woman's Guide' over the weekend and found it really reassuring. She goes into detail over how some of the stats are wrong e.g. if you time it right, are below 30 etc. it's supposed to be more like a 60%+ chance each cycle. That said, I think if you're just after info there wouldn't be much in there that you wouldn't already know if you've been TTC for a while. But anyway, it made me freshly excited for the TCC journey. So after some of the worse cramps I've had since coming off of BC, it looks like AF is finally packing her bags. I've got my OPKs at the ready Grin very intrigued to see how this cycle goes.

@Crossfitgirl glad you enjoyed the article. Everyone I have shared it with has pretty much had the same reaction! It's like up until recently it was something we just 'knew' but couldn't put into words (without being called a nag).
@sunshine1987 have an AMAZING honeymoon! Fingers crossed for a honeymoon baby Grin
@MrsAW2018 Welcome! I'm not sure how useful apps are for predicting ovulation. I'm using Clue just to track the length more than anything. I've got some OPKs for this cycle.
@Hadaley Welcome! Sorry to hear of the pressure you're under, I bet that makes this period of life all the more intense for you. Hope this is your cycle!
@FlapJackered I'm a few days behind you and totally agree that it can be exhausting. I think good intentioned people overlook it when they say "just relax and have sex and it'll happen". Thanks, Janet.
@EltzBee I hope your drs appointment goes well, that sounds really discouraging. Have you ever looked into the 5:2 idea? I've put on a couple of pounds which tipped me into the overweight category, and through 5:2 I've been able to shift them with relative ease. There's a great doc on BBC Michael Mosley and I've just discovered there is a mumsnet board too. Just a thought anyway.

EltzBee · 12/11/2018 09:44

@purplefig glad to hear it was an interesting read!

Yeah I did 5:2 a while ago and did have some success. DH has been doing 8 hour diet so joined him on that. He's done really well. I've managed to gain a stone....so annoying! May have to give 5:2 a go again. Think my body is just struggling with hormones still!

purplefig · 12/11/2018 09:48

@EltzBee Could be worth doing a proper full thyroid test then, as as you say, you would have expected to have been able to lose some weight using those methods. I know a lot of women have success with tracking on MFP, as it can be easy to eat more than you think.

MrsAW2018 · 12/11/2018 10:03

Thanks, @purplefig ! The apps are usually fairly accurate in predicting ovulation as I check with OPKs normally.

Got a BFN this morning on an IC at approximately 9dpo. Anyone else imagine line that aren’t there? 😖

purplefig · 12/11/2018 10:19

@MrsAW2018 fair enough - I don't think mine is, but I'm just off of BC so imagine everything is all over the place for me atm! Sorry to hear about your BFN but 9dpo doesn't mean it's over yet.

MrsAW2018 · 12/11/2018 10:24

@purplefig they might start predicting it for you when your hormones settle down from the BC. OPKs are better though aren’t they? At least you know for definite then!

I know 9dpo is still quite early but don’t have a good feeling about this cycle😞

Hadaley · 12/11/2018 10:46

Good morning all!

Ten days post LH surge, so I am guessing nine dpo. Not too hopeful. Feel like my normal PMS self, except I occasionally get these weird cramps, but they're nearer my rib cage than my uterus, so can't be implantation related. Cervix is low and firm.

AF isn't supposed to arrive for me until the 22nd going by my normal cycle length, but since I ovulated so early, she may well be early too. For now I am resolved to just wait until she arrives, but I may break and test on the weekend.

Husband is going to be away for this week and next. Should fall into the "infertile" part of my cycle, but if AF arrives early, I'm afraid we might miss the next fertile window as well. And with 35 day cycles, that'd be just awful. We wouldn't have another chance until next year. :(

@purplefig - I've never really believed those percentages! A large part of it is expectation management, I think, because a lot of us have reduced / suboptimal fertility for some reason or other rather than infertility.

purplefig · 12/11/2018 11:21

@Hadaley Oh I hope AF doesn't arrive early! I have 35 day cycles too (well 34 & 36 day so far) and I totally understand the frustration. I do keep reminding myself though that once no longer TTC, a longer cycle is ace Grin. And totally agree with you on your skepticism over the percentages too.

ValidUser · 12/11/2018 13:17

AF here. Cycle 5 day 1.

EltzBee · 12/11/2018 13:44

Sorry to hear that @ValidUser on to next cycle and another chance.

purplefig · 12/11/2018 13:49

@ValidUser sorry to hear that. Be extra kind to yourself today Flowers

Delilah7 · 12/11/2018 13:57

stormtrooperjulian · 12/11/2018 14:01

Sorry to hear that @ValidUser, fingers crossed for the next cycle!

ValidUser · 12/11/2018 14:04

Thank you lovely people! At least I'll get my day 3s on Wednesday and my HSG next week.

DH getting SA in the next week or so.

If we do have trouble, at least we can afford the treatment (not bragging, just calming myself).

I'm also distracting myself with a nice health kick. ❤️

starkid · 12/11/2018 14:26

Hi everyone. AF here at the mo, but will be back on the babymaking wagon next week & I intend to up my game this month! Smile
AF has been particularly long and painful this month, which sucks

starkid · 12/11/2018 14:28

Sorry @ValidUser , I'm cycle 3, day 5, so shall join you in another positive month xx hope HSG goes well next week!

Rachael321 · 12/11/2018 14:41

Sorry to hear that @validuser good that you are keeping optimistic and have everything planned out for the month ahead re tests etc. Fingers crossed for you!
@delilah7 any news on the blood results?

ValidUser · 12/11/2018 14:42

Yes @Delilah7 keep us updated.

Thanks @Rachael321. ❤️

Delilah7 · 12/11/2018 14:43

@ValidUser @Rachael321 apparently can't give it to me today! Fucking annoying x x

Rachael321 · 12/11/2018 14:44

Still trying to stop myself poas!! Keep having to stop myself clicking order on Amazon! I know as soon as I get them I won't be able to stop myself.but also don't want to tempt fate by ordering and getting my hopes up

Rachael321 · 12/11/2018 14:46

@delilah7 why's that? Did they give you a reason? I can imagine that's annoying especially when you've been waiting so long for them I know it's only days but still feels ages!

Delilah7 · 12/11/2018 14:47

@Rachael321 no apparently they're not ready which is bullshit as doctor told me to ring today x

OP posts:
ValidUser · 12/11/2018 14:50

@Delilah7 it's probably an admin error like a biochem bottle being sent to haematology lab, or someone writing HCG illegibly on a form. Or maybe lab has results but hasn't sent them back/put them on the system yet. X
