Ok , that's it. I'm done leaving it to chance. Me and my partner definitely want to actively try for a baby. We've been letting nature take its course but not actively trying.
So I've downloaded Flo and added my last few period dates. I stopped the pill back in July after being on for 13 years.
I've got some of that seven seas Trying for a baby pre conception vitamins, I started my period very last last night/early hours this morning after being 3 days late . Normally I'm like clockwork with AF, but this month I'm late, starving, nauseous, and so tired. But obviously not pregnant if I'm on period!!
So today marks the start of us activily TTC. I'm making sure we DTD around my ovulation dates and I'm hoping for a BFP next time around...
I'm extremely clueless to pregnancy, I never realised how hard it actually is! School teaches you that it's a definite the moment you have unprotected sex!
I'm 25 yet feel like I no nothing!?
Can I test at any point or is it best to wait till the next time AF is due? As in wait till I'm late then do a test?
I don't smoke or drink heavily. May have a glass of wine here and there.
Any tips for this month? Hoping I'll get a BFP by December!!!
Fingers crossed!!
Anyone in the same boat?

@ladytmp think positive!

No worries :) LOL BD is Baby Dance ;) hopefully you know how that is done hehe.

Yeah I don't trust the apps totally on their own, but they are useful for recording temperature and signs/symptoms.

I started doing my temperature each morning last cycle, and it was super helpful to identify when I ovulated (combined with ovulation tests (OPK)), and that explained why I came on to period so late as I ovulated late.

ladytmp · 07/11/2018 14:14

@EltzBee omg how embarrassing! I thought it was to do with taking temperature!! Well! The more you know! I think I might try OPK this cycle...Not sure how to do the temping thing !
Is it just me or is the fact Xmas around the corner making u want it even more? Like I'd love to gift wrap a positive pregnancy test for my partner for Xmas ...he did say that a all he wanted this year.. NO PRESSURE! Grin

@ladytmp no worries, I remember Googling all these abreviations when I joined. POAS (pee on a stick) took me ages to work out!

Temping is very easy - I have a basal body temperature thermometer that I got on Amazon for a tenner. I take my temperating (under tongue) every morning before getting out of bed. It's really interesting to see how it fluctuates! I then pop the number in to Fertility Friend app.

Temperature for some women dips when they ovulate, then goes up and only comes back down when they are about to start their period.

I've learnt a scary amount about how it all works since TTC!!

OPKs - I get them in bulk on Amazon again (thank goodness for prime!).

MyloC · 11/11/2018 07:17

I just had to come on and let everyone know I got my first BFP this morning!!
Can’t believe it, I have had brown spotting the last 2 days but something was telling me to take a test. Hoping it sticks and all goes well.

Good luck to everyone still waiting for their BFP!

EltzBee · 11/11/2018 08:47

@MyloC congrats!

MrsC87 · 11/11/2018 08:55

@MyloC congrats!!! So pleased for you! 💕💕💕

MrsP4 · 11/11/2018 09:05

@MyloC Congratulations! What cycle was it for you?

MyloC · 11/11/2018 09:15

@MrsP4 It was cycle 4 for us. First using OPKs thought so that must have helped! How are you getting on?

MrsP4 · 11/11/2018 09:25

Ahh amazing @MyloC Cycle 2 for us currently on CD 7 so will start with the OPKS in the next couple of days, used them last month but not sure if I actually ovulated as it was first month off the pill but had a real period and this is my first cycle after the real bleed so hoping for more luck this month.

MyloC · 11/11/2018 09:31

I had been on the pill for 10 years before those 4 months so fingers crossed this is your month Smile

Carley321 · 11/11/2018 19:37

Hi all new to the thread. I hope you don’t mind me popping on. Been ttc since June after coming of the pill for around 15 years.
No luck so far.... periods very irregular (when I finally get one) the whole thing is just so confusing and stressful and thought I’d join in the chat and say hi 👍 x

Pastaallday · 11/11/2018 22:37

Hi @Carley321 I am in a similar position! I've just posted a thread actually on here about ovulation etc. I came off the pill in September (after 16 ish on it) and have had no period since yet. I feel like I'm in limbo. I know it's still early days but when you hear that others had a period after 28 days it makes you worry! I've booked in a consultation with an acupuncturist specialising in fertility which I've heard good things about...also taking zinc and vitamin b each day.
But just saying hi and I'm as confused as you are Blush

Carley321 · 12/11/2018 07:10

@Pastaallday hi. It’s a horrible wait isn’t it. Iyou are the first person that Iv spoke to that hasn’t been almost regular afterwards. I came of In june and had an 83 day cycle before my next period then a 40 day cycle to what can only be described as spotting and not on cd35. I am thinking of booking a doctors appointment too. In just want to know if my body is working how it should.

I have heard you can still ovulate without a period though.

I’ve heard of a few people that had acupuncture. When do you go?
I take zinc and folic acid, not vit b though, how does it help? X

Pastaallday · 12/11/2018 07:26

@Carley321 I've read about quite a few people on here who have very irregular periods. I just wish I'd have even one as they're non existent at the moment!
I read that vitamin b in particular b6 can help regulate periods. So worth a go.
I haven't started acupuncture yet but again heard success stories about that shortening cycle lengths. Although it doesnt work for everyone. Im booked in for later next week so will see if that's helps. Just hate the wait and not knowing what's going on!

Carley321 · 12/11/2018 18:48

@pastaallday I know exactly how you feel. I was exactly the same when I came off, I’d never wanted to see af so bad in my life it was scary. I still feel similar now though, only having 1 and a smidge since. I hope it’s just my body regulating. And I’m sure it is for you too. About 2 weeks before af after the pill I had some serious changes in my mood and body so I’m sure that was my first ovulation in god knows how long... if ever!
I’m sure your body is just getting used to life without bc.

Pastaallday · 12/11/2018 19:17

@Carley321 I know it's crazy how I've never wanted AF so bad! Do you use opk? I've got a very dark positive line which might indicate I'm due to ovulate soon or might just be my body messing around again! Are you TTC as they could help identify when you're likely to ovulate. Have you been to the gp?

Carley321 · 12/11/2018 19:33

@pastaallday yea I have used opks, I used cheapy ones first at most I had a dark line once (not as bright as the control line though) but I did have a few faint ones before it so I’m hoping that was ovulation. This month I used the CB ones and the first try I had a smiley face but my cheapy ones didn’t match so that confused me.... if I did ovulate AF should arrive by the weekend but I have no clue really!

I’m thinking if you’re ovulating maybe AF Isn’t far behind!

Yes I am trying and it is not as easy as everyone makes it look 🙈. I thought I’d just stop taking bc then bam I’d be pregnant.... but unfortunately that’s not the case. It’s bloody hard going lol. Are you ttc?

Carley321 · 12/11/2018 19:33

No not yet been to go but I have set a reminder on my fine to ring and book tomoz.

Pastaallday · 12/11/2018 19:46

@Carley321 that's confusing. So did you get a line at all on the cheap opks when you got your smiley face? Im using the cheap ones. I also got quite a dark line back in Sept but no AF arrived. Fingers crossed because I had such a dark line yday then AF may arrive in the next few weeks. I'm on about day 50 now since k stopped the pill.
All along we've been planning to start TTC from Xmas. I'm just so glad I came off the pill in Sept and not at Xmas when I naively assumed that my cycles would return to normal and be ready to go!

Pastaallday · 12/11/2018 19:46

I hope GP is useful. Let me know of they offer you any advice!

Carley321 · 13/11/2018 07:06

@pastaallday I had a faint line with cb smiley, the darker line on cheapy OPK came a few days after the cb. My first cycle was 80days. You may have a few signs when you ovulate like change in cm, minor twinges etc.

I will let you know. But if I get an appointment it will be atleast a week or so till I get seen, gps here are a nightmare.

Carley321 · 13/11/2018 07:07

You defo did the right thing stopping the pill earlier. I wish I’d came off much sooner.

Pastaallday · 14/11/2018 20:01

@Carley321 thanks - I just wish I had come off even sooner. Just didn't realise how long it would take to get back to normal. That is hoping they do! Hope you managed to get an appointment.
How do you check your cm? I've noticed more discharge since I've been off the pill but haven't been checking cm which I suppose would be a good idea to start.

ckc45d10 · 15/11/2018 17:49

Yes, as mentioned by a previous poster, you may want to make an appointment with a healthcare provider that specializes in fertility. They can help guide you and review supplements for you!
The B vitamins, as mentioned, may be better absorbed in the methylated forms. And, if doing CoQ10, this is better absorbed in a water and fat-soluble form.

Carley321 · 15/11/2018 18:44

@pastaallday yea no appointments until December 🙈. So frustrating. I’m going to keep trying for a cancellation.
I wish I’d come off this time last year to be honest, I cannot believe the struggle it is. It really worries me.

I just noticed when having a wee or when wiping. A clear sign of ovulation is clear and streatchy cm.

@Ckc45d10 thanks. So how many vitimins are actually advised it’s all so confusing?
